If the country was good we won't be buying tokunbo cars, shoes, bags, clothes, shoes etc. In Nigeria if you are not born with a silver spoon then you most have used a tokumbo item. What of second hand bra, pants, socks and boxers? Is it because the country was not good that we import these items thrown away inside dustbins in foreign countries, instead of our people producing them? |

Cheers You are the person displaying traces of an uneducated lazy youth. If you take time and actually read and comprehend the Nigerian constitution, you will actually know that a vice president is actually powerless (when the president is on sit), he takes directions and orders from the president. He cannot do anything without the authorization of the president. Ditto for deputy Governors. Most people have no idea of the names of their deputy governor, because they are virtually powerless. Obasanjo rendered Atiku useless in his second term, so much so his salaries, security and privileges were withdrawn. He even purported to remove him vice president, until the courts told him that a President cannot sack the vice. Jonathan's case was similar, he was not given any role by Yar'adua except to negotiate with the Militants. He was not even allowed to act for the president anytime the president was away. Sambo had a slightly better relationship with president jonathan, he was given minor roles here and there. Osinbanjo also had have a relatively good relationship with his principal (according to Nigerian standards ), he also had been given some roles here and there by the president, and had been actually allowed to act a couple of times when the president was away (all be it after some noise from Nigerians), so I am yet to understand all the hullabaloo from PDP, IPOB and Co on how Osinbanjo in particular and Yorubas in general are being sidelined and insulted by Buhari the Fulanis. It's just ridiculous. What are they trying to achieve? Provoke Osinbanjo to resign or provoke Yorubas in general to hate the Fulanis? Osinbanjo is not complaining, Yoruba politicians and masses are not complaining (except FFK), but people from the other parts of nigeria wail everyday on social media on how it pains them the way Osinbanjo is being treated. |

Areas like us wey dey ply the route almost everyday., we dey use keke reach the bad spot, use leg cross, enter motor wey dey drop passengers from Benin/Oghara/Sapele. Before, drivers go through Eku to come out at Amukpe roundabout but that route has been destroyed by the trailers too. The truth is that trailers and trucks are the number one road spoilers in Nigeria before you consider effect of bad construction or rain. They destroyed that route, they destroyed the Adeje route, they destroyed Eku route. It's terrible That's the consequences of not having railway to transport heavy duty goods. Even ordinary fuel instead of being transported by pipelines is being trucked by road. No road in the world can withstand such load for long. The same phenomenon us affecting apapa oshodi expressway, Lagos Ibadan expressway and Lagos - sagamu road. |

Quit waiting for your father to die to inherit his properties, work hard to build your own. I now see why there is a war anytime a rich man dies in Igboland. The children and brothers fight to the finish to inherit a deceased relative's properties. Kanu is no crown prince. Succession in Afara Ukwu Ibeku autonomous community is not hereditary. South west politicians and electorates have been putting pressure on Buhari to fix the road. As the politicians and electorates supported Buhari in the last elections, he feels the need to listen to their demands. It's called classical economics and not classic economics. It only works in the text books, it does not work in the real world. Even in the US government intervenes in business to help them survive and to reduce unfair monopolistic practices by the big companies. I subscribe to Kynesian thought that interaction between aggregrate demand and aggregate supply is what influences the economy and his thought that demand creates supply. Also only works in the text books. In the real world lots of other extraneous factors affect prices. If economics is such a perfect science, the markets would not be so difficult to predict. I subscribe to Monetarist school that all economic problem is a monetary phenomeon. Also false. Economic problems can be as a result of social, political or even religious conflicts. I subscribe to mercantilist school that advocates for strong institution. True, but strong persons build strong institutions. That's why sometimes the strength of the character of the head of an institution sometimes determines the success or failure of that institution. A good example EFCC under Dora Akinyuli So what you proposed is neither classical, Kynesian, monetarist nor Mercantilist but it summarized to an extent my economic belief and I love calling it Conservative Capitalism.
You are WISE! Economics is a social science dealing with human behaviour and human behaviour is anything but predictable. |

I, Brigadier Sani Abacha, of the Nigerian Army address you this morning on behalf of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
You are all living witnesses to the great economic predicament and uncertainty, which an inept and corrupt leadership has imposed on our beloved nation for the past four years. I am referring to the harsh, intolerable conditions under which we are now living. Our economy has been hopelessly mismanaged; we have become a debtor and beggar nation. There is inadequacy of food at reasonable prices for our people who are now fed up with endless announcements of importation of foodstuff; health services are in shambles as our hospitals are reduced to mere consulting clinics without drugs, water and equipment.
Our educational system is deteriorating at alarming rate. Unemployment figures including the undergraduates have reached embarrassing and unacceptable proportions.
In some states, workers are being owed salary arrears of eight to twelve months and in others there are threats of salary cuts. Yet our leaders revel in squandermania, corruption and indiscipline, and continue to proliferate public appointments in complete disregard of our stark economic realities. After due consultations over these deplorable conditions, I and my colleagues in the armed forces have in the discharge of our national role as promoters and protectors of our national interest decided to effect a change in the leadership of the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and form a Federal Military Government. This task has just been completed. The bolded quote could be written today, and it will be accurate. |
