give examples of the US buying "territory, not land from a sovereign government" because that is what trump proposed, buying Greenland to make it US territory. You guys are hell bent on rationalizing abnormality! Is there anything about trump you won't defend? huh
And the territory belongs to nobody? So who is Trump going to buy it form?

Anyway, we also have a Federal Capital Territory , he should also propose buying it from the Nigerian government.

O, I forgot to add, since you said greenland is a territory and not a sovereign state, what happens to the Greenlandic Prime minster, parliament and judiciary after being bought over by Trump?

is this the first time US is buying land from another country?

That’s why it is buying and not grabbing. Before u purchase something doesn’t it belong to someone else?

When it comes to Trump you guys just deliberately switch off your brains.
How many times has a country bought land in other country in modern times. Did Denmark put Greenland for sale on eBay? If they did, many other countries would have loved to bid. What of the people on the land, are they part of the deal, or they have no say?

What of your village, maybe south Africa can bid to buy your village on Twitter or maybe Facebook (with all your clansmen and women included). You guys are so deep into Trump's assessment that even his shit smells like perfume to you.

....and we have seen how Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB had helped stopped the raping and killings, how they've negotiated for more FG presence in Igboland, how they've helped in tarring some roads, built schools and hospitals, giving scholarships etc
We all know this is the job of the government but don't tell me you don't know that some individuals do it, some communities do same so why can't IPOB help by getting donations from its members in diaspora to fix some of this instead of waiting for others.
Till date, we've never heard that members of IPOB donated books to schools, medicines to hospitals or even building anything, all we hear is protest here and there and their monthly contributions by members, what the contribution is being used for is what nobody knows
Gbam Gbam and Gbam, I can't give you enough Gbam.
Other progressive or successionist anti government groups provides social amenities for the people they claim they are fighting for, good examples Muslim Brotherhood in the middle east, baathist party in Iraq before they took power, The Gülen movement, turkey. IPOB on the other hand knows only how to collect dues and donations. Schools, they no sabi, health centre, they are allergic, simply building borehole, they are blind to see that many communities go to streams to fetch drinking water. So how is Ipob different from public officers that collect public money and spend as they like?

Who is holding you down? What do you expect an ordinary non igbo citizen to do to help you go? Do you expect a Yoruba man or Hausa man to carry placard and head to national assembly with the inscription "Go igbo Go"? Secession is a political process with little role for ordinary masses. Start the political process and stop making childish populist noise all over the place and see if others would not support you.

Let IPOB deal with the politicians that have truncated their own people progress for personal aggrandizement.
Violence and threats of violence will only lead to a response - which is more violence and threats of violence.

IPOB has issued violence on Amaechi after the assault on Ekwerenmadu in Germany, Amaechi has responded by daring IPOB to attack him if and whenever he travels abroad. How do you think Amaechi's supporters will respond if Amaechi is actually assaulted when he travels abroad by IPOB members?

Very good development for the movement...some folks might not like this..but the truth is....their cause is being heard....and so is interest.

Kanu is doing a great job ..not easy ...

Think all this media attack from the government and a section of the country is out of envy and jealousy..
Otherwise what will prompt humans with sense to abuse other humans who feel .. freedom is from oppression is a God given right..

....only in Nigeria will you hear and see such..

Mandela is a world celebrant ..becos he fought for what he believed in...even in the face of death.

Ipob are getting negative attention. You think the physical assault on a Nigerian senator on international media promotes the cause of IPOB?

You think threatening a sitting president puts IPOB in good light?

IPOB is playing into the Nigerian governments label as a terrorist organization. They issues threats and act of violence and then immediately say IPOB is "a peaceful organisation".

They answer the same names like u and look like u so who will u attack? Wike will just round u guys up for causing disturbance

Or will u move to aba and start the attack? Lol

You guys don't just get it. You don't attack leaders of people and don't expect a reprisal. Igbos don't have leaders that are revered, so it is understood that you can stone, injure or even kill an igbo ruler or leader and life goes on. If you try that with people who rever their leader, they seek revenge, not only on the person who attacks their leader, but also on their families and even tribe. Leaders that fall into that category are Bini, yoruba, Fulanis, TivI, etc, Kings and leaders.
If just one Hausa man attacks the Oba of Bini, be sure that all Hausa people living in Binin will be hunted down and killed.

The core igbos need to go and read up and understand the importance of power in societies.

The Emperor holds no executive power and so cannot order an investigation into anything, the letter should have been addressed to the prime minister. I thought kanu should have known that the Japanese system of government is very similar to the British, where the monarch is only ceremonial and the executive power lies with the prime minister.

I am not disputing the fact that kanu is delusional, I am only pointing out that he is ignorant as well.

This is the most silly attempt at propganda and obfuscation I have seen on NL lately.

Mr man, GEJ was not the Prseident nor the acting President when this deal was done in January 2015 by a cabal. When he became President, he rejected the deal and later renegotiated the deal to arou d $850m, before Buhari entered and in usual manner cancelled the renegotiation, went back to court and having failed in court caused Nigeria to own $8.9b as judgement.

The last paragraph is a summary of what Reno said in the article. Resppnd directly to that Or shut the hcek up!!!
Is what you wrote up there reasonable by any stretch of the imagination?
A deal was signed January 2010 to build a pipeline to supply gas to P&ID
Early February Jonathan was made president. Just a couple of weeks later.

He then waited till early 2015, after he realized that he might lose the elections, remember the elections was to have been held February 15, 2015.

He then expected an incoming debt help could not pay in 6 years in government for only a contract seen on a piece of paper.
I trust Buhari, he will not pay a dime. Let Britain do its worst.
I am sure if it was Atiku/Obi, they will gladly pay $9 billion for a 30% kickback. After all, no actual business took place.

You are so wrong on so many levels.
First of all, you and I are so ignorant on the plans and details of the proposed university, so it is very difficult to criticise something you know nothing about.

Secondly, you guys were celebrating the building of 14 new universities by the Jonathan administration, half of them sited in the north, why are you guys now angry at just one new university?

Thirdly, you make it seem Amaechi is solely responsible for the project and he will just dip his hands into the national treasury as he likes to fund the project. That's not how government works. A proposal must be sent to the national assembly, who has the power of the purse. It's after the project is approved by your representatives that money can be released for the project. I am sure that even if this project is planed by this governments, it cannot be captured by this year's budget, it has to wait to be included in next year's budget.

Lastly, the proposal might truly be a thank you present to Buhari and his Fulanis people and a strategy to solicit their support for higher office come 2023. It's all part of politics.

You raised some salient points.
However, at the emboldened, Amaechi doesn't seem to help his own people.
He would rather please the West and the North than South South and South East.
Perhaps they distribute projects based on voting patterns, because I have never seen Amaechi surpervising a project in the east.
Fashola and Osinbajo, who are Yoruba men, go to the east more often than Amaechi, whose backyard is South East.
The guy has yet to learn from Jonathan's mistake.
Charity begins at home and Buhari is teaching everyone that now.
Also, I remember Amaechi threatening to shut down the maritime university in Delta State due to corruption allegations.
If not for the timely intervention of Ibe Kachikwu, that school, which is in session now, would have been closed down.
Amaechi seems bitter because his people refused to align with the ruling party.
The truth is that Nigeria will be far worse than it is without opposition.
Those of us who have followed Nigerian politics a bit longer know what played out in the time of PDP.
Nigeria needs opposition, so everyone cannot be in APC.
You need to align with the north and/or with the west to make headway in Nigerian politics. That's just the reality of Nigerian politics. Obasanjo was able to win his first term basically because of support from the north. Jonathan won his first election principally because of support from the west. Buhari failed 3 times relying only on support from the north, it was only after realising he needs either the support of the SS/SE or the west, and since the SS/SE see him as a sworn enemy, he had no choice but to align with the west and compromised with Tinubu.

The sooner the Igbos realise that the cannot get any thing from Nigeria without aligning and negotiating with the west or north, the better for the political fortune of the igbos. Amaechi being a very successful politician had realised this, and explains his seemingly alignment towards the west and North. Besides, since Amaechi decamped to APC, he has been shown extreme hatred by his igbo kinsmen. He is much more loved by the Yorubas and Hausa/Fulanis than his own people.

Believe me, lots of us want igbos to hold the highest office in the land, but they need to learn to play the politics. I think Amaechi and his igbo kinsmen should reconcile their political differences (even with wike) and present a formidable candidate for the post of president. Three of the most influential Igbo politicians in Nigerian today, whether you agree or not, are Amaechi, Uzor Kalu and Nyeson Wike. If these 3 could work together, they could make things happen for the igbos.

But is Amaechi hardworking? Definitely!

The accomplishment of Amaechi in Rivers State education sector is unparalleled... nobody can beat that record

Amaechi is also doing a good job at federal level.

Although Buhari has a team of incompetent ministers, I consider Amaechi the pick of the bunch.
Amaechi is the most accomplished politician from the Niger delta and former eastern Nigeria. Here are his accomplishments which no other southerner (apart from those that have become presidents) achieved.
2 term speaker
2 term governor
Chairman, governors forum
2 term minister

The only executive position he is yet to attain is the president. I believe if the Niger Delta and the East leant their support for Amaechi in 2023, he can clinch the presidency. But then, his greatest enemy would be his people, especially the east.

With the type and quantity of arms entering into northern Nigeria, without the government doing anything about it, it will be be foolishness for southern politicians not to be stockpiling their own arms. But then, southern politicians are too selfish, greedy and myopic to think outside their selfish interests, while the southern masses are too pretty occupied with mandate squabbles, like tribalism, religion, BBnaija, etc.

BREAKING!!! Nnamdi Kanu Orders Attack on Buhari in Japan

By Wisdom Nwedene

The leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has ordered his members to attack President Muhammadu Buhari in Japan , Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari will on Sunday depart Nigeria for Japan to participate in the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Friday, Kanu described Buhari as
"an impostor, Jubril Al-Sudani," who is masquerading as the late dictator Mubammadu Buhari.

He further told them to make sure that President Buhari is arrested when he sets foot on Japanese soil.

Kanu further revealed that under Japanese law an impostor is a common criminal and subject to citizens arrest.

The statement reads in full,

"The formidable IPOB family in Japan is hereby placed on direct order to ensure the impostor Jubril Al-Sudani, masquerading as the late dictator Mubammadu Buhari, is arrested and handed over to the authorities when he sets foot on Japanese soil. He is not only a fake president, he is wanted for mass murder and crimes against humanity for his role in previous and ongoing genocide in Biafraland."

" Under Japanese law an impostor is a common criminal and subject to citizens arrest. International diplomatic protocol as it relates to visiting heads of state is not applicable in this instance because whoever Abba Kyari is sending to Japan is not the real Buhari. We must make sure he is apprehended and handed over to the police in Japan."

"Any legal fall-out emanating from any confrontation will end up in a Japanese court where we will be able to establish before the world that Jubril is indeed a fake Buhari."

Igbere TV recalls that former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu was beaten mercilessly by IPOB members when he attended new yam festival in Nuremberg, Germany.

Stay with Igbere TV. Africa's No1 Community TV.

I don't believe Kanu can make such statement. Order your people to attack a visiting head of state in a foreign country? A head of state is a different ball game from a senator. A head of state has the same protection as the country's president or head of state.

I knew Kanu was eccentric, but I doubt he is raving mad

The German police said it isn't crime but when politics go in, the Nugerian government will lean on Germany and the German authorities will have no choice but to take action. Afterall, these peoole are not Germans. It is international politics and the accused people will be surprised at what high powered leverage can get you
When you physically assault a person, it's a crime anywhere in the world. You are free to protest, but once you lay your hands on another person, that's assault.

I don't think the German or any other country should tolerate Nigeria's political shenanigans in their country. If opponents of IPOB are allowed to be assaulted without consequences, then what happens when supporters of people who hate IPOB retaliate whenever Kanu visits Germany? We will just be disgracing ourselves further in foreign lands

How do you licence Internet TV and Radio? All you need to run your own video blog or video channel is a phone or basic video camera, a laptop with video editing software installed, a Gmail account and a YouTube channel, and instantly you can stream programs like a TV station.

Besides, there are numerous websites for uploading and selling online videos and courses like Udemy and lynda. How do you regulate all these.
I am sure most of these public officers have no idea of how the Internet works. They still think mass media is like it was in the 80s, when NTA boasts of 30 million viewers.

walexbiz:
While I won't want to dabble into the issue of prod and cons of different type govt, I will just want to remind you that even the Americans have consistently used socialist instrument to govern its people. Subsidy is a socialist tool in governance.

Now to the main crux of the matter, an increment in power consumption could spiral and push Nigeria back into recession as it would adversely affect the manufacturing sector of the economy. The cost of doing business in Nigeria is on the high side, increasing the electricity tariff would place a heavy burden on the manufacturing companies and this would in turn affect the cost of goods and services in Nigeria. Also we should remember that even at the present rate provision of electricity is still shady has most consumer have professed that they are paying for darkness.

I accept your point of argument that electricity is far cheaper that what we are paying for, but you should remember that even minimum wage isn't reflective of what workers are supposed to earn, therefore overburdened would result to stealing in fact they have all been doing this while government looks the other way.
Wrong premise. You are obviously not a business man, else you will understand that providing power through generator is extremely expensive.
When my small office was being billed with estimated billing, I was being billed an average of N10,000 - N15,000 per month despite not having power 60% of the time. Sometimes the transformer would be down for 2 weeks, but the bill never reduces. As a result, I spend an average of N15,000 per week on petrol for the generator, apart from other maintenance costs. I fought tooth and nail for pre paid metre, after the installation of pre paid meter, a N10,000 recharge takes me a minimum of 3 months. You think I will not jump for joy if I was asked to pay 3 times the current charges but will have power 24 7.
PZ and other heavy industries run their generators 24 7, because, their heavy machines cannot handle power fluctuations. MTN masts are sometimes run on diesel 24 7 with 2 generators on every Base station. You think MTN would not jump for joy if you ask them to pay 5 times the current charges.

Cost of doing business will actually come down if tariff is increased but the light is constant and not having to running your business on generator.
