agathamari:
Aids is a fad? Please tell me what hole did you crawl out of? Only 2 people have died of aids? In 2008 17,000 people in the US alone died of aids and 31,000 people in “western countries”. In 2007 2 million people worldwide died of the disease and it’s a fad? People in rural areas die more frequently of aids and other diseases because of lack of proper education relating to the illness and lack of proper medical care. Western governments don’t worry about malaria because malaria can only be carried by a handful of varieties of mosquitoes which can ONLY survive in the tropics. It’s like how Nigerian government isn’t concerned with Legionella because it cannot survive in the tropics. HIV can survive in any climate. HIV attacks the immune function of the person and therefore the course of the disease depends on the strength of your immune system. If it is strong it takes longer same with any virus. HIV medications help strengthen the immune system and as far as mother child the link between them is not perfect. Though rare the mother and child can have different blood types and HIV isn’t the only disease that sometimes is passed from mother to child. Any bacterial, viral or fungal infection has the possibility to be passed that doesn’t mean it will. So tell me since someone with multiple sclerosis could lose all bodily function within 2 years of developing the disease while others can live 20 years before it happens the condition isn’t real? Since rabies is a death sentence killing 99.99999% of those infected and about 20 people have ever survived the disease ever that means it’s not a real disease? Since some people can live for years with untreated typhoid while others die of the disease in a matter of month then that bacterium doesn’t exist? No two people are the same and no two people react to diseases the same way.
First i would like to thank Nex for educating agathamari. Most people run their brains on emotions and their emotions are controlled by western media, so much so that they are not ready to use their brains and look at reality.

I do not want to educate you on the meaning of AIDS, but you should embark on some research your self and do not restrict yourself to CNN, WHO reports, and other western media. Also read opposing views so you can get a more informed balanced report.

But let me do a little educating;
AIDS is not a disease in itself, it is a condition whereby the body has lost its ability to defend itself, and believe me there are lots of diseases that can lead to AIDS, even untreated common diseases like Syphilis and Gonorrhea has be known to bring about AIDS. Other known causes are excessive drug abuse( both hard drug and prescription drugs) AIDS has been with us since the dawn of medicine. The controversy is whether there is a virus called HIV, causing the increase in AIDS we are witnessing, especially in poverty stricken areas, and the properties and mode of transmission of this disease.

There are many reputed doctors that disagree with the media promoted common view of HIV and AIDS. Some believe that poverty and poor nutrition are a greater factor than sex. others believe that substance abuse and untreated sexually transmitted deceases are more of a factor than sex alone.

So what i am saying is that the whole sex/hiv/AIDS relationship is being blown out of proportion.

When i say i know only two people that have died of AIDS, you should know that i mean people I personally know. Two ladies i knew, one actually worked for me.

I still asked how many people do you know personally that have died of AIDS. With the scary picture being painted by WHO/ western media, there should be at least 2 in every extended family.

Look all the statistics being rolled out by WHO are at best guessed estimates, how did they get the statistics of third world countries, who have no data.
PoliticsRe: Is Climate Change For Real Or A Fraud? by wirinet(m): 6:35pm On Oct 27, 2009
Global warming and AIDS are fads, they are money spinners for western nations and NGOs in third world countries. I am not saying burning CO2 does not contribute to the over all climate dynamics, but the effects is infinitesimal, the whole issue is being blown out of proportion. Water vapor is said to contribute 95% of the green house effect on earth while carbon dioxide (both man made and natural) only contributes 3.62%.  Read the report on green house gasses here - http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/greenhouse_data.html

AIDS to me is like religion, i would rather believe Jonah slept inside a whale for three days than believe the way HIV/AIDS is being presented. I had studied the topic since 1999, and till today i can not make sense of it. If i try to write the contradictions the tell us about AIDS, this post would be too long. I am not saying that some peoples are not dieing of some decease but the information on AIDS do not make  sense and there are too many contradictions.

They will tell us a wife can have AIDS but the husband can be free and vice - versa, same with mother and child. If you take the drugs you can live longer but they do not know how long you will live without the drug. They will say the window period can be between 2 to 20 yrs. It is either they are guessing and do not understand the disease or they are lying.

Why is it that AIDS is killing mainly the poor people, you will think that AIDS would be more of a problem in urban cities than in remote villages but the reverse is the case.

Malaria kills far more and is far more infectious than the so called AIDS, it kills millions of Black Africans every year mostly children, but the western governments are not interested in that, The spend billions on AIDS instead. They will tell us that 5% of Nigerians are HIV positive, please tell me how many people you know that have died of AIDS. I only know 2 and that was in the 80,s. Most Black Africans have malaria at least once a year and if one quarter of the money spent on AIDS is spent on malaria, Africa would be a better place, as Malaria wreck havoc to productivity.

AIDS is the only disease they are still trying to convince us that is real.

ROSSIKE:
Richyblack or whatever you call yourself, first of all understand this.  Juju in itself is not inherently bad. It is what is done with such POWERS that may be termed good or bad.

If I visit a traditional medicine man to request a potion or charm as protection against ill-luck or enemies, what is evil or bad about that? If I'm in a farming community ridden by drought, and we solicit the services of a traditional ''rainmaker'' or medicine man to appeal to the higher powers on our behalf for rain, how is that evil? You do the same when you attend your church, and you have NO RIGHT to condemn traditional religion as all evil. If you're ignorant, learn that fact TODAY.

You forget that you have christian priests who blessed mass murderers like George Bush and Hitler. Even today you have millions of American christians, many backed by priests, who believe it is a good thing to invade and bomb innocent children in Iraq based on lies, deception, and greed for oil, like Bush did. I know that wouldn't make you condemn christianity as evil, so quit your stupid double standards and ignorance.

One more thing,  Most of those in Nigeria who patronise traditional priests for evil purposes are christians. You need to appeal to your christian brethren to stop manipulating our traditional religions for their evil purposes.
Juju almost ends up bad, even if it initially looks beneficial. If you visit a traditional medicine man for any favours, and by some stroke of luck or as a result of some vague revelations or predictions, you get satisfactory results, you will from then be held hostage by the medicine man. You will then be subject to to control of the medicine man, and you will henceforth be unable to make decisions without input from the medicine man. The same applies to the new age demon casting and all powerful pastors or prophets. Once you get into their hold, you cannot escape, they would use the hold on your mind to rule your life and collect your possessions. Some are so dependent on their pastors that they do not feel a sense security until the pastor lays hands on them or prays for them.

It is this mind control that is the most dangerous aspect of juju.

As I said in another thread, Global Warming is another fad, that the western media is selling to the whole world. The sell us fads periodically so as to milk us, if it is not Y2k, it will be the wonders of Free Trade( meanwhile they close their markets), then they move on to Democracy or even economic systems like SAP. We had the AIDS Fad and we thought we will all be dead by the year 2000 AD.

Most Nigerians love watching CNN and reading Time or Newsweek and then catch on on the latest Fad to show our degree of sophistication. These people feel that others who do not believe everything the western media spew out are bush and uncivilized.

Climate change is caused mainly  by periodic movements of the earth around the sun. you can check this site for more info.
http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/ice_ages.html

They should provide us with data on how much green house gasses has increased in the atmosphere in the last 100 years.

From secondary school science in my days, the tell us that the atmosphere is made up of 78% Nitrogen, 21% oxygen and about 0.3% CO2, and the other gasses make up the remaining. I do not think they are teaching a different ratio today.

I like this quote from the above link, so i am adding it;
Some say we are "nearing the end of our minor interglacial period" , and may in fact be on the brink of another Ice Age. If this is true, the last thing we should be doing is limiting carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere, just in case they may have a positive effect in sustaining present temperatures. The smart money, however, is betting that there is some momentum left in our present warming cycle. Environmental advocates agree: resulting in a shift of tactics from the "global cooling" scare of the 1970s to the "global warming" threat of the 1980s and 1990s.

Now, as we begin the 21st century the terminology is morphing toward"climate change," whereby no matter the direction of temperature trends-- up or down-- the headlines can universally blame humans while avoiding the necessity of switching buzz-words with the periodicity of solar cycles. Such tactics may, however, backfire as peoples' common sensibilities are at last pushed over the brink.
Christianity EtcRe: Christians Only (STRICTLY) - Discussion Of "I Did Not Ask To Be Created" Theory by wirinet(m): 11:01am On Oct 26, 2009
Obalende,

I did not want to comment on this thread as it says Christian only, but if find it hypocritical to ask an atheist question and then asked them not to respond or explain why they hold that position. Christians are just glad that they were created and worship and give thanks to their God for it. So I do not think that Christians can answer why Atheist think the way they do.

It is like atheists asking why do people need salvation, and then add a caveat - STRICTLY FOR ATHEISTS.

Dude, I'm not interested in your recycled and irrelevant argument.

I quoted a news article about the state's solar power initiative in the village, read and comprehend.

And of what use is your meaningless internet analysis?

The villagers are obviously fine with the state's help, but you're entitled to rant to your satisfaction of course.
Babapupa, see how you shoot your self in the foot, or is it in your fingers in your attempt to deitify Fashola. The link you provided was dated Aug 23 2006 , or was fashola in power in Aug 23 2006.

When we are having a debate counter your opponent's arguments with your facts instead of just dismissing it as meaningless internet analysis.

How do you know the villagers are fine? from the picture? or you have been to the village?. Are those the panels that is used to power a village of 5,000 inhabitants?

Baba you are giving Fashola a bad name.

Non-Nigerians and their feel-among mentality! So because I didn't go into the numerical details and physics of the ice age makes you think you know more? NEVER! I know about the ice age, mammoths and T-Rexes. Who gives a rat's a$s about your obsession? I'm also obsessed with space sciences and pre-historic monsters. What about the asteroid theory that is claimed to have wiped them out rather than ICE?
Who doesn't know global warming has a combo of causative factor? I said green house gases are the most important. You can't deny that!
Your knowledge of Geography is very suspect, you keep on jumbling unrelated issues together. What is T- Rexes connection with Ice- age. We got out of the last ice age about 10,000 yrs ago and an average ice age cycle is 100,000 yrs meanwhile T-Rex died over 65 million yrs ago, so please show me the connection. I can understand the connection between Mammoth and Ice age, as the ice age was responsible for its extinction.

Also the asteroid that was said to have wiped out T-Rex and others has nothing to do with ice.

How do you know that green house gases are the most important cause of global warming, was it green house gasses that cause the tempt. of the earth to be increasing gradually since the end of the ice-age about 10,000 yrs ago. Was it green house gasses that turned the Sahara desert which was a grass land more than 15,000 yrs ago to a desert, and was it green house gasses that have made the desert spread southwards since then (remember we only started burning fossil fuels less than 150 yrs ago).

Please get your facts right before you start typing on Nairaland.

1st, except you have a Ph.D in Geography or related disciplines then forget about knowing more about Global warming than me.
2nd, there are many western 'fads' that they sell us but they always try to prove its true. They might be paying lip service to it but its effects are global. We also have our own ways of increasing green house gases like bush burning, logging and deforestation. Then, I read your piece on the controversy surrounding the real causes of global warming and would still maintain that the main cause is still linked to green house gases. Some years back in europe or so, temperatures suddenly dropped after a rainfall causing the rain drops on electric poles to freeze thus becoming too heavy and causing collapse of the poles. If we are at the hot extreme of the ice age theory then what caused that ice age phenomenon in europe? Only the green house effect adequately explains these extreme weathers and that why we must act! Responsible govts like Fashs' knows this.
Nigerians and their paper qualification mentality. I do not have a degree in geography, i did not even take the subject in secondary school. But i am very obsessed with astronomy and that made me study and understand the astronomical aspect of geography better than most people.

So for you not to understand the cause of ice ice age means i understand Geography (at least the astronomical aspect of it), more than you.

Ice ages on earth is caused by a combination of three main cycles of the earths movements. There are;

The eccentricity of the earth's orbit rotates in a 23,000 yr cycle, meaning the earths orbit sometimes get rounder and sometimes more elongated.

The axial tilt rotates in a cycles of 41,000yrs. meaning the angle between Earth's rotational axis and the normal to the plane of its orbit moves from 22.1 degrees to 24.5 degrees and back again on a 41,000-year cycle.

The precession of the earths rotation completes a cycle every 26,00,000 years. meaning the Earth's axis completes one full cycle of precession approximately every 26,000 years.

All these three create a cycle of 100,000 years ice age cycles on earth.

Global warming is not caused by a single factor but a complex interaction of factors, green house gasses being one of them

Bishop Kodji is the first village that got electrified under the Lagos State government’s pilot solar energy project. It is a small island in the Atlantic Ocean off Nigeria, living on fishing and canoe carvings.

Before the successful tapping of solar energy to produce electricity, the 5,000 population here had never known what electricity is! Harnessing renewable energy sources in such remote areas are much cheaper compared to what it takes to connect each village to the national grid. It costs about 150 million naira (around 1.2 million dollars), while solar energy project costs only about 10 million naira (around 83,000 dollars) per village!
Babapupa, you are going to make me to start looking at Fashola more critically with all the lies and propaganda you are spewing out on nairaland. We already appreciate how Fashola is transforming lagos, so you do not need to tell us cock and bull stories to vote him in in 2011.

You said he wants to introduce electric cars in 2010, i explained that it is not a feasible project and even asked you to show me where electric cars had been provided for public or private transportation in any part of the world. You defense was that you do not know the details of the scheme, but you are ready to defend the scheme with your life.

Then you bought a fable that Fashola want to power a village of 5,000 inhabitants with solar energy, you then went on to lie that to connect the village of 5,000 inhabitant to the national grid would cost 150 million naira but with solar energy would be about 10millon.

Let me enlighten you on the  technical details;

A village of 5,000 should have at least 1,000 houses or hut, assuming an average of 5 persons per household. And the basic electrical consumption should be at least 200w, allowing for a few light bulbs, a fan, TV, video and radio. (No fridge, Electric cooker or Iron). So the total consumption of the village should approximate 200,000watts or 200kilowatts. (minus light consumption for public spaces and street lights). To generate a 200kw of electricity using solar would cost well over 10 million naira. In fact to generate about 10kw to power a well fitted house by only solar energy would cost you at least 5 million. I am sure your defense would be "i do not have the details" as usual. Maybe what fashola did was to but some solar lamps costing between 5,000 - 10,000 naira and place them in public places, and voila, Fashola has powered a village using solar.

I looked at your links and found out that you just googled " solar lamp lagos state" and then copy and paste whatever information you find, without understanding the facts.

First the very first statement of the site which says "The tropical climate makes solar energy the most viable alternative source of renewable energy in Nigeria", is wrong.  Solar energy is not usually viable in tropical climates, not enough sunshine hours, too much humidity, wind not powerful or sustained for long enough, and a host of other problems. Solar energy is more viable in desert areas or very windy coasts of the world. In the tropics, solar energy is best used in conjunction with national grid or generator, so one would act as a back up for the other.

Observation: I noticed that there are lots of days when the traffic lights installed by the lagos state government do not work due to inadequate sunshine. The designers should not have relied solely on Solar, they should have incorporated grid electricity and a small storage battery, so that one can act as back up for the other.

Furthermore, on climate change. There are opposing views in the scientific community as to the real cause of global warming. Some reputable scientist believe that the changes are not caused by increased green house gases but as a result of the earth's ice age cycles, and we are at the other extreme, and this is 2009. Anyway the Al Gore group is the most popular view at the moment, and i am with them.

I didn't waste my time reading your post based solely on your research. Don't bother writing a book on it too. I mean whats up with this:UNBELIEVABLE!! In 2009?
You do not need to get emotional about this issue. i can bet you that I understand global warming and its effects more than you. You should re-read my post to fully understand why i said Global Warming is a western fad. I mean that it is the industrialized nations that produce over 90% of the gases that causes global warming. So it is their governments that should be taking steps to combat global warming, but we know that the US government has refused to sign the Kyoto protocol to reduce their production of green house gases. i am sure what Nigeria contribute is less than 0.01%, and most of it is caused by Gas Flaring, which you have even failed to mention. so asking us individually to waste our resources combating environmental pollution is like asking us to save water from the river Niger by drinking less water. That was why i said it was a fad on individual level. Even China a major contributor of pollution is only paying lip service to cutting their pollution.

Babapupa,

I love your enthusiasm for anything Fashola, but believe me this one is not feasible.

I have been researching Alternative Energy Sources for over 15 years now as a hobby, so i know a lot about the technical details of solar power. Solar technology is still a very inefficient source of energy and very costly. It still needs further improvement, In fact i am waiting   for a company called nanosolar to roll or their panels that promised more efficient panels at very cheap prices.

for example to charge a12 volts 200Ah battery battery at 30 amps, you will need  240 watts solar panels and at least 8hrs of sunshine, And a 100watts solar panel goes for about 80,000 Naira, so the cost of your panels alone would be about 200,000 to charge just one car for 8 hrs (charging a battery too fast would kill the battery). So solar charging stations are out of the question. (sorry i forgot to add that you will need at least 4 of such batteries to run a reasonable car)

Then using massive diesel generators to charge many cars would be pence foolish and pounds crazy. you will still create the same if not more pollution, with so much extra cost and logistic problems, then there is still the problem of charging time.

The most probable alternative energy cars of the future is not solar cars but hydrogen fuel cars, Hydrogen is converted to electricity to power the cars, so you only need to refill hydrogen gas. The technology is still in its infancy.

Somebody was talking about wind, the wind on the coast of Nigeria is not strong enough to provide enough election. It is very windy counties like Denmark, Norway and northern Scotland that   has wind strong enough that can be used to power wind turbines.

Baba, if you are close to Fashola, tell him  to design programmes for the poor and low income masses and not to think of only elitist programmes. We badly need cheaper transportation and Mass housing. Forget solar cars

Papa, why are you trying to defend the indefensible. Snausi is just restraining himself from declaring the former CEO's as ROGUES. He has said so in so many ways. It is just that he had acted within his powers to sanction them, it is left for the courts to try them.

If you insist that the former CEO's are not criminals, then you have no basis for calling IBB, ABACHA, IBORI, and other politicians, thieves.

Until we learn to call a spade a spade, we will be moving back into the stone age.

Thank you my brother, providing constant power alone would reduce the so called environmental pollution better and more cost effectively. Why do we always get our priorities wrong. Fashola should set the goal of generating 20,000 mega watts with transmission and distribution with the money he wants to expend on his eclectic car dream. He can partner with universities and the private sector in the design of better and more efficient gas turbines and transformers. it is a shame we still import transformers.

I also know alot about electricity. i am an electrical engineer by training and profession. I have done alot of research into batteries, batteries charging, solar panel and some other sources of electrical energy. I know some challenges that are likely to be associated with these types of vehicle. Some of these challenges, you have even mentioned. But rather than being scared by challenges, why dont we look at ways of overcoming them and go ahead with plans that we believe might have an eventual benefit on the society at large and even lead into the kind of development we run abroad to seek.

I think the bone of contention here is not about electric vehicle being economical or whether we have a ready means of maintaining them but rather that electric vehicle provides a sure and better alternative in eliminating the problems of pollution that running of our combustion engines on fuels have always produced. it is a question of saving our environment, our world and our planet no matter how much monetary cost it takes us to do so. And I think this is more important than considering economic factor from a stand-alone point of view.
What government need to do is to work on mass transit systems and not on personal transportation - electric or otherwise. If the Lagos state government is planning for electric trains, i night agree (with lots of reservations also). but electric cars are a White elephant dream.

A lot of Us like parroting western propaganda and fad, forgetting our own practical problems. Environmental pollution and green house gases are western fads - they do not apply to us. It is the western countries that contribute over 90% of the world's environmental pollution and you are expecting us to pay more for ameliorating it. The us that produce over 40% of world green house gases are not interested in spending money to reduce it, and someone one we - impoverished africans to buy and maintain expensive solar cars.

most people here have lost touch with reality on the ground. what the masses need, especially lagosians, is Electricity for their homes and work places, cheap and affordable houses, cheap and affordable food, good road network and efficient mass transport system, etc. Leave space travel, nuclear weapon and power and green house gasses to the people who can afford it and have developed the technology.

@POSAKOSA,

I have some questions of my own,

When did this transformation take place and where?

How long did the transformation take?

What was the size and specie of the cat?

What was immediate reaction?

Were there other eye witnesses?

What did the cat do after transformation?

when did it transform back to your housemaid?

Did she continue to be your housemaid after the transformation?

Your answers would be appreciated.

Afam:
It is very clear from the posts thus far that

1. Those who claim to have seen juju work believe that there are supernatural powers that we cannot explain and that they defy physical laws as we know them today. I have seen juju at work.

2. Those who claim juju does not exist only do so because they have never experienced it and as such any claims don't make sense until they themselves see the juju work.

3. Those who claim juju does not work seem to be looking for opportunities to see it work, hence the numerous questions from people who believe it does not work yet want to know how something transformed (wanting to know but not bold enough to admit that), why Ronaldo's leg did not disappear (it was reported that even his mother had hired another witch and they are not Africans), why black people are not very rich through juju, why US is not using juju (since some believe that they can only believe something if the US says so, real shame) etc.

Therefore, there will never be a meeting point on this issue because an overwhelming majority of people here have stiff mindsets and will do anything to support their positions even if it means turning logic on its head.

Be it known that any christian that believes in the recorded events in the bible that clearly defy physical laws and at the same time claims juju does not exist because it will defy physical laws is a hypocrite, confused person and a bloody sycophant.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. A mind that believes everything has been understood by it is already dead.
I want to point out that the human mind is capable of accommodating contradictions, without being hypocritical. Most I know a lot of Christians that believes literally in the Bible but do not believe in Juju. Even the Europeans that brought Christianity to Us did not believe in all our Juju and babalawos, they desecrated our shines and took away our sacred idols and objects. That is the way the mind works. Another example is that you will see a lot of our Born again friends (especially the ladies), visiting babalawos when they encounter serious problems, only to be seen in church the next sunday singling " Babalawo Power Powerless Power, Jesus Power Super Power".
BusinessRe: Lagos To Introduce Electric Vehicles In 2010[in A Blackout Nation] by wirinet(m): 11:34am On Oct 24, 2009
Yes, there is power in the human mind, but the only power in the Nigerian mind is Power of oppression, power of enjoyment. It is the European minds that conceived of airplane, phone and satellites ( and they have not been able to conceive of an efficient cost effective and light-weight battery yet), while our mind conceive of how to enjoy the things conceived by others. We are also adept at conceiving witchcraft, superstition and especially religion (how to ferry more favours from higher powers).

I know a lot about alternative energy and until our crude dries out, the most cost effective way to power small vehicles will always be hydrocarbons. Even if you use battery it is diesel and petrol that will still provide the electricity and a lot of energy is wasted during the charging process.

The cost of solar equipments necessary to charge one bank of batteries of about 800 AH, needed to charge just one car to run for a couple of hours would run into millions of Naira

The most annoying aspect is that even if you somehow are able to provide cheap electricity and super efficient batteries, are you ready to wait 6 - 8 hrs at a charging station to fill up your batteries?
BusinessRe: Lagos To Introduce Electric Vehicles In 2010[in A Blackout Nation] by wirinet(m): 9:44am On Oct 24, 2009
I love fashola and the way he has been transforming Lagos, but this is a really stupid Idea. There is no where in the world solar Cars are used for mass transport. It is still in experimental phase and is usually toys for the big boys.

Let supporters of this scheme show me where a similar project is working. I am not even mentioning the lack of electricity to power the cars. most people have enough problems charging their phones not to talk of charging a whole series of batteries necessary to run a car.

Finally the cost of producing, transporting and distributing the electricity necessary to charge the cars would be far higher than the cost of petrol.

@Mazaje: Are you consider a cradle robber if you marry a much younger woman? If a woman reached a Jewish age of bamitva (13 years old, the age of maturity), how do you think the Jews take her?

What is the age of maturity of Makkan Arabs in the time of Muhammad (as) or what are the signs, if you dont know the age?

And when you plagiarise, does your just writing about the same topic means that you have plagiarised?

Be serious, man!
Yes Mr Olabowale, writing the same story without giving credits to the original author is called PLAGIARISM.

Afam, You speak well.

RichyB- U never answered my question, was the majic performed during Moses time real or fake?
So your idea of a powerful magic is turning a rod into a snake?, and that was to show pharaoh the extent of God's powers?. I thought a better show of power was to turn the rod into a fire breathing dragon. A simple man with a rod will easily kill the snakes not to talk of holding a sword. Unless of course the snake was a spiritual snake.
Christianity EtcRe: What Does It Mean To Speak In Tongues by wirinet(m): 3:17pm On Oct 23, 2009
For those of us who find the speaking in tongue babble quite intriguing, we need some sort of clarification on its benefits and use.

What do you gain during and after speaking in tongue? Are you Euphoric during the exercise or you are in a trance like state. will you have your prayers answered thereafter? ( but you do not know what you are saying). Also are tongues speakers at any advantage as against non tongue speakers?

How often are you required to speak in tongue - every day, every church service or every night vigil.

Does speaking in tongue show you are sinless and therefore will sin no more?

What exactly are the benefits of speaking in tongues?

Furthermore before anyone can test the efficacy of Juju, you will need to provide some sort of Data. Then the validity of the data can be put to test. Also where can one get the samples, samples of juju men with accurate data and details of their magic.

I was also very interested in the concept of Juju in my youth days and visited quite a few, they were all charlatans. One Juju woman actually foresaw my death in two months, unless i appease ogun, with some Red oil, a while goat, a white cock, some palm wine, i can't remember the list now, as this was over 20 years ago. The ceremony was to happen at mid night beside a river, somewhere in Ikorodu. Let me add that it was a girlfriend that took me there because she went to consult her, and was told that her boyfriend had two months to live. Anyway, i was not ready to appease any ogun, (when i was not even ready to appease the popular Gods of Yahweh and Allah). And guess what 20 years later and i am still alive.

Thanks Richy for the education, our people is in need of more people like you who would open our eyes and our minds from the shackles of superstition and religion.

The most annoying thing is that even our so called juju men are not very innovative. The juju men in ancient Europe could turn stone into gold, turn humans to animals at will and disappear and appear in broad day light. Those of China and India were even more astonishing, they levitate during the day without broom, and the can disappear in a puff of smoke.

Afam keeps on telling us that the has seen jujumen perform wonderful thinks without giving us details.

I wonder if a Juju man can evade a well aimed arrow or a catapult, or is it only guns that they can evade?

Going through most of richy's postings and his argument shows his of science background. He used scientific argument to try solidify his position without following basic scientific principle. His wild statement regarding juju is based on gross misconception, lack of proper understanding and fraught with double standard.  He is eager to post example that suite him but reject eye witness accounts that contradict his views.

Solution:
Richy could put forward an hypothesis regarding the efficacy of juju , and test that hypothesis by conducting an experiment using samples that adequately represent the data population; without disregarding the control experiment.

Alternatively, he could post detail of any research work done that prove beyond reasonable doubt that juju is fraudulent.
My brother let richy have details of the eye witness account before he can take a valid position, it is not enough to say i say i saw a demonstration of a gun being fired at a man and the bullet did not enter. He will need more details on whether the bullet missed or hit the target but did not penetrate.
Christianity EtcRe: What If Christianity Was A Sham? by wirinet(m): 9:20am On Oct 23, 2009
olabowale:
karma, a hindu idea. at least not a chrsitian idea. karma or no karma, you are a disbeliever and Islam is bound to be victorious.
Mr Olabowale, The word Karma was an eastern idea - both Hinduism and Buddhism, but the concept is a universal concept. It was incorporated into Christianity (although it was not called Karma), but the new testament contains the verse " You shall reap what you sow". That is Karma.

Besides Christianity was formulated from a fusion of Roman Pagan beliefs, Judaism and a some middle eastern and far eastern doctrines. Meanwhile Islam is just Plagiarism of Christianity, it was an opposition to Christianity, to stop the Europeans from conquering and colonizing the middle east. Their holy book the Koran depends on the assumption that you must have read the bible, because it would be difficult to understand it without having a background information from the bible. In fact the practice of Islam today was very similar to the Early Catholic Church with the exception of Idols, images and saints. The rights were very similar, Bowing and Kneeling on the floor (there were not chairs then), counting of Rosary, Lent (ramadan), even the way the women dress were similar.
Christianity EtcRe: What If Christianity Was A Sham? by wirinet(m): 7:50pm On Oct 22, 2009
To me Christianity and its off-shoot (Islam) is a sham, it is the greatest deceit foisted on mankind and those that foisted it have left it for us (third world countries) to expend our energies on while they expend their time and energies on greater quests in life. The two religions were used as vehicle of conquest, colonization and exploitation of weaker societies.

It there is anything like karma, i hope it will catch up on the Romans that designed and imposed Christianity and the Arabs that imposed and brought Islam.

Afam:
I am sorry I cannot provide the information you seek because I am not a juju man as only those that use them can answer your specific questions and why they fail sometimes.
Afam, yes i understand that you cannot give us the details of bullet proof juju and its efficacy, but at least give us a little more detail of what you saw as an eyewitness.

What was the type of Gun used for the demonstration and the calibre of its ammunition?

What was the range from the target?

Did the bullet hit the target but did not penetrate the skin whereby you will see the reaction from the impact of the bullet on the person according to Newton's third law, or the bullet missed the target as a result of the juju or the bullet disappear before it hit the intended target?

Further more I had always wondered why the Chinese who invented gun powder and the Europeans who adapted that technology into gun, were never able to produce bullet proof juju, after all the chinese were known to be adept at juju (until the coming of Chairman Mao). How come it is only our juju men that was able to understand this imported technology more than the original manufacturers.

My own theory about this is that Bullet proof juju claims are fraudulent. I believe some politicians, whether military, civilian or spiritual, in connivance with priests, juju men, shamans, marabouts, etc. ( these people had connived since the beginning of history to deceive and exploit the hapless masses). This is done in order to encourage men, who otherwise are fearful of bullets to fight bravely for what ever cause the politicians want. They will engage in a demonstration in a controlled environment, with some witnesses, who would go on to spread the news to others who would also go on and spread the news and so on. Finally you would have many young men who are ready to undergo the initiation rites for the bullet proof juju, and would be ready to enter an armed conflict fearlessly. There are always lots of excuse for those that are killed by bullets, theses excuses range from what the person wears, or eats or even that the opponents had neutralized the juju with the use of a more powerful juju.

This is just my theory, i wonder what others make of it.
CultureRe: Juju Claims Are Fraudulent: An African Fetish (Published In 1905) by wirinet(m): 7:56pm On Oct 20, 2009
@ Afam, I am interested in the reality of your bullet repelling Juju. You said you were present when the experiment was performed? so why had we not had any open or public demonstration?. I have been hearing such tales by close friends and relatives since i was young, and i am surprised it had not caught the attention of the manufacturers of guns and ammunition and even bullet proof vests.

My uncle was very active in the Liberian war, he spent years in the jungle fighting charles taylors forces. When i asked him about the bullet repelling Juju (because i know the Charles Taylor boys uses them), he laughed and told me that they killed so many of them with red cloths and so many amulets tied around their heads(the bullet proof objects). He said on one occasion they took the amulet from the wearer and asked their sniper to see if they can penetrate the amulet from 50 meters. He said the sniper needed just one shot and the amulet was in shatters.

Please explain to me why bullet proof juju is never used or considered by our regular army, but only used by untrained militia or hunters.
Christianity EtcRe: Should Abortion Be Legalize In Nigeria? by wirinet(m): 8:44pm On Oct 18, 2009
I am pro-choice, a woman should not be forced to have a baby she definitely does not want. At the end of the day everybody suffers, the woman, the child and the society at large.

I am not advocating for discriminate abortion of babies, but i think it should be regulated and legalized, with support services like counseling to mitigate the traumatic and physiological effects, and to see if the woman (and man also) involved can consider the possibility of having the child.

The damage done by not legalizing abortion is far worse than the damage that would be done by legalizing it. A lot of teen and post teen girls have gone to the great beyond as a result of quarks that perform abortion in hideouts that dot our cities. Also a lot of our girls are rendered barren as a result of performing abortion underground.

The irony is that the countries that have legalized abortion like sweden and denmark have far lower abortion rates than countries where abortion is illegal like Britain and Nigeria.

Whether we ban it or legalize abortion, it will still continue to take place. So why do Nigerians always like to deceive them selves by sticking their heads in the sand instead of confronting a problem headlong.

Please re-read the sentence again, especially the parts bolded by you. The people living on the African coast had never had contact with Europeans, Arabs and Asians. The desert and the forest coupled with the Atlantic ocean was a formidable barrier. It was the blacks of East African nations like Ethiopia that had been in contact with the outside world since biblical times.
