DOptical:I honestly don't understand what you mean by the rubbish you wrote up there. Here is the report of the release of the Local government allocations by Yaradua.
|
DeepSight:I believe the difference between Nigeria and Ghana that makes things seem to work is their value system is not as corrupted as Nigeria (yet that is, a we are moving our churches and prosperity nonsense over there). People still do their job without enducements. Police still works, civil servants still works, etc. That's why I wrote about our value or should I say our religious system. We concentrate too much on the self, the ego instead of trying to build a just and prosperous society. We are taught that personal wealth and development is more important than societal wealth and development, and so we don't mind killing, cheating and destroying to achieve personal wealth and development. We can always "Japa" after destroying our homes and society. That's why I support banning all Nigerian public officers from obtaining US, UK, Canada, European and Arab countries visa. Let them stay and suffer the destruction they caused. |
DOptical:I hate people bringing up that "seizure of Lagos allocation by Obasanjo", that's not entirely truthful. We that witness that episode are still alive to tell the truth. Obasanjo "withheld" Lagos State Local government allocations for about 3 years due to disagreement of creation of Local government Council areas by Tinubu. When Yaradua came into power, he paid the whole withheld allocations to Fashola in one fell swoop. So I don't understand why you guys still use that withheld allocation as an excuse when anyone criticises Lagos State Government 15 year later. What i don't like about you guys (and all sides are guilty) is that you reduce any criticism of the government or persons you support to emotional attacks. Leave all those personal, tribal or emotional attacks and attack the issues raises itself. All governments are criticized the world over, even in autocratic regimes. Its left for the government and supporters to respond intellectually to the issues raised. |
DeepSight:Not familiar at all. The only African countries I have visited are Togo and Benin. But I read quite a lot about politics and happening in Ghana online. And I have a few customers from Ghana. |
Reference:Poor maintenance. Sand, pure water nylon and other debris has blocked the drainage designed to remove flood water from the bridge. The money budgeted for maintenance has been stolen. |
Saga16:Na wa o! You must either be a staff of the Lagos State Government or have an interest in the government. London that respond to emergency situation including floods, fire, accidents or other disasters immediately is the one you are comparing to Lagos State Government that's only interested in revenue generation? See here on how Westminster City Council respond to floods - https://www.westminster.gov.uk/residents/floods/july-2021-flooding/westminsters-responsibilities |
Memberclub:Thats one thing they fail to take into consideration when comparing Nigeria to other countries. Nigeria is one of the most urbanised countries in Africa if not the whole world. Can you count the number of urban cities or towns in Nigeria that requires urban infrastructures. With our meagre resources, even without the endemic corruption, the government can't cope. We need to be far more productive than we currently are and power has to somehow be devolved from the federal, states to then to the local governments. |
Saga16:Poor example of "whataboutism". Yes flooding caused by flash flood, heavy rains or any other unexpected weather phenomena can occur anywhere in the world, but the difference is response and time it takes to get things back to normal. In London, emergency services would deal with such flooding within a matter of hours. In Lagos, the floods as a result of heavy downpour from last Thursday is yet to be dealt with. The Lagos State Government is yet to respond. They are more interested in revenue collection instead of offering services. |
kokorokoman:I don't believe the Ghanian economy is doing better than Nigeria, in the same vain Ghana is not better managed than nigeria. They are pactically in the same category. The difference is in the scale and size. Buy scale and size, i mean population, geographical size and the number of tribes and ethnic groupings. From the statistics you presented, these three are the most critical factors; Population: 32,833,000 213,401,000 Inhabitants/km²: 137.6 231.0 Birth rate: 28.04 ‰ 37.47 ‰ The population of nigeria is 8 times that of Ghana, the population density is about two times and the landmass is about three and a half times. To make matters worse, the birth rate is unsustainably high. Now, one factor that affects Nigerian development and progress more than Ghana is religion. Nigeria's extreme religiosity which started in the late 70s/early 80s has had a destructive impact on the value system and morals of the society. And thus Nigerians are unable to distinguish rights from wrongs. Nigerian religiosity focuses on the self - self prosperity, blessings and interests, instead of pursuing societal progress and development. That's why Nigerian has the highest number of religious buildings in the world but the most criminal minded, wicked and unsympathetic people. There are crimes that only happens in Nigeria - like using women and children for money making rituals. Those things you mentioned like poor infrastructure, poor security and the systemic collapse are all human problems and not necessarily government. Why, because Nigerians choose to be dishonest in the dealings with others. Those charged with responsibilities are only interested in stealing the money. If you like change the system and the personalities 10 times, the result would be the same. In a country where Professor Nnenna Oti is celebrated for just doing her job, then you realise little is expected from an average Nigerian. |
benalvino3:How many media was exposed? The only media that was exposed as mired in lies and that has paid and will still pay heavily for its lies is Fox news. News media are allowed to be bias just like any other organization, but to engage in malicious lies that damages the reputation of others and put people's lives in danger is wicked. |
benalvino3:You are adept at bringing up one obscure example that no one had heard before (that's after scouring right wing websites), then you scream "whatabout". Why not provide more details of the case - the pleadings, the arguments and the judgement. Did it go all the way to the supreme court? |
DeepSight:I believe the US judiciary is largely apolitical at least at the lower levels. The only highly political arm is the supreme court. And that is because recent appointments into the supreme court US based mainly on political considerations. Even at that Supreme court decisions had been largely apolitical until the Trump era. Trump specifically appointed supreme court judges he believed would help him win the 2020 elections and the Republicans were shopping for judges that would overturn Roe v wade and other republican ideologies. |
Fox had a very bad case against Dominion, and would still have an equally bad case against Smartmatic. Fox might not survive the fall outs of the malicious election lies of election fraud they peddled after the 2020 elections just to pander to the extreme right audience. Watch the summary of the case in this video. It highlighted how screwed fox news were. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NUSOVELsd0 I am impressed by the US judiciary, I can say they are the most important preserver of US democracy. Apart from a few questionable rulings like Judge Aileen Cannon (which was quickly corrected), US were/are largely apolitical. I wish the same can be said for our own judiciary. |
sonature1:Being Capital only favours a majority tribe. Its detrimental to minority tribes. People come from all over the country and displace the indigenous people from their ancestral lands. The indigenous people become disadvantaged politically, economically and even socially as a result of fierce competition from the major tribes. Even in Lagos, the aboriginal Lagosians have almost been driven out of their ancestral lands. The original Lagosians have been sidelines politically, economically and socially. There are very few original lagosians holding political offices in Lagos. |
4ward4:Gbam!. They should take Nigeria to court for denying them ant form of representation. Even 25% of their votes before someone can represent them as governor, senator, house of representatives member or even local government chairman is denied them. |
AK481:And igbo men are among those that took the legislative seats from gbagi thereby making laws on their behalf. |
EgunMogaji2:Religion is the Opium of the masses - poor, oppressed and helpless masses. That's why the poorer and more oppressed a society, the more religion thrive. It becomes the only hope of the hopeless, the only reward of the exploited and the only knowledge of the ignorant. |
kcbusta:So what happened if a president is not sworn in on the 29th? Do Buhari and the national assembly continue beyond their term? Do we install an interim government, which does not have any legal backing or do we have a military coup? |
mbateb:So because INEC is constitutionally empowered to declare winners of elections in nigeria, it means an INEC driver or adhoc staff can wake up one morning, gather army, police and Civil defense to protect him, and announce any candidate the winner of an election? The REC did not even bother to call out the figures, he just said Binani is hereby returned elected. I don't quarrel with NTA carrying the acceptance speech, where NTA errered was not carrying the other side of the story by informing its viewers that the acceptance speech is based on a fraud because the REC was not empowered to declare the results and winner and that the INEC headquarters had suspended the collation of the results. |
Agbadocassava:Declared by who? The REC does not have the powers to declare anyone winner. Maybe APC should have gotten a gate man from INEC to announce the result, and claim anyone with an INEC ID card can announce electoral results. Binani has exposed APC strategy to win elections. The strategy is to bribe any INEC official to just announce you winner irrespective of the votes, and then ask opponents to go to court, the frustrate the court proceedings. |
OVB123:Itsekiris are highly matriarchal, most people born of Itsekiri mothers identify as Itsekiris. Remi and her sisters identify strongly with itsekiri and they speak more Itsekiri than Yoruba. |
I have said it 5 months ago, and I am saying it again. The north have run the Yorubas street. The next president is Kashim Shettima. |
arazanbal:Did chief ize-iyamu and chief igbenadion insult Oba Erediauwa? Did they refuse to pledge allegiance to Oba Erediauwa? Did they challenge the authority of the Erediauwa. If they did half of what Ayiri had done to the Olu of Warri, they would have been removed and even banished. In days gone bye, such insubordination of a monarch by one of his subjects would have been punished by beheading, even in UK as of 400 years ago. |
mrcelebrity1:False! Remi Tinubu is a bona fide daughter of itsekiri, she does not play with her itsekiri heritage and hence cannot do anything to disorganize the itsekiri culture and heritage. |
MrDoGood:Can there the two Kings in a kingdom? Can a prime minister be imposed on a king or the king to appoint his own prime minister? How can Emami who fails to swear allegiance to new king insist on being his prime minister? Even in UK where the prime minister is elected and not appointed, he or she is still required to pledge allegiance to the monarch. |
VinnyBaba:This is the same Fashola that fell out with Tinubu during his Governorship and had not been seen in public with Tinubu within the last 4 years. Obviously, he is looking for appointment under a Tinubu administration. In politics there is no permanent friend or enemy, only permanent interests. |
Odin13:Because that's the mandate stealing strategy of APC. Just get INEC to announce a fictitious result declaring your candidate the winner, then ask the others to go to court. After you are sworn in, you can then use state resources and power to manipulate the courts. |
Classickj:I never argued that she contributed anything to his footballing career, because I don't know. What I am against is the accusation that she was gold digging. I ask how much was Hakimi earning in 2017 - 2018 when their relationship started? |
Classickj:You are funny o. You expect PSG to pay Hakimi's salary directly into an account other thar Hakimi's own? Have you ever seen where such is done without a court order? Even with a court order, the money will first land in Hakimi's account before the court ordered deductions are made. |
Classickj:He was playing mainly in the reserve team in 2017. In 2018 he was loaned to Dortmund. It was at Dortmund his performance peaked and his career took off. On 2020 he signed a 5 year contract with Inter Milan. How much do you think youth players in clubs are paid? Players start making real money when big clubs come for them and they sign contracts. |
DeepSight:Prenups are a double edged sword, as nobody can predict the future. The tables might turn and the other party can hit a fortune while the one that had money in the beginning can hit misfortune. I know a situation where the wealthy family of the bride insisted on a prenuptial before they allowed their daughter to marry a "poor" man. After 10 years, their fortune reversed. They guy got a job in multinational oil company while the family business crashed after the Patriach of the family had stroke. The man showed the lady pepper and eventually divorced her leaving her with nothing. So marriage is one big gamble. Just pray you hit a winning hand or at least a lucky hand. |
Classickj:As I said the courts will decide based on the family income. Hakimi cannot be said to be broke. He earns €1 million per month. The money is paid into his account before he donates all to his mother. If the court decide that he will pay alimony, the money would be deducted before he donates the rest into his mother's account. |
