richie240:I think what he's saying is that not everyone that wants Biafra or identifies as Biafran is IPOB. Yes, the "B" in IPOB stands for Biafra but that's just the name they adopted for thier movement. It doesn't necessarily mean every Biafran agrees with the IPOB ideology or that IPOB and Biafra are one and the same. Remember they've got Ohanaze, MASSOB and the likes. Ideology aside, I also don't think the questions "are you a member of IPOB?" and "are you an indigenous person of Biafra?" are the same. The first implies there's a formal body or organization with clearly defined membership requirements while the second speaks of ethnicity or nationality as the case may be. For example, I am a Nigerian in Canada, but I am not a member of NIC (Nigerians in Canada). The person you quoted is probably arguing that while IPOB and Ojukwu had the same end-goal, Ojukwu fought for the people of Biafra and not IPOB (the body). That said, I'm not taking sides in your argument, just putting things into perspective. In other words, while his argument might really be flawed, I just wanted to offer a view you might not have thought of. The question now is, is MNK a member of the body, IPOB, or just an indigenous person of Biafra? Did he give that a response as a smart way of avoiding some perceived traps ahead or he was really trying to disassociate himself from IPOB? |
Ukraine is the target. I see people above praising Putin and his allies like this is some video game or HBO series we're talking about. The Soviet Union is long gone, what would be the justification for invading Ukraine at this time? It's even funny cause those claiming to be anti-democracy on NL ride on the back of democracy to share their opinions. It's always as if the grass is greener on the other side, but we all know Nigerians won't sit well with authoritarian leadership. We've been there, done that. What matters here is not the US but the right of association of a sovereign nation. You can use economic sanctions against any country but an invasion would be a a threat to thier sovereignty and therefore an act of war. The US attempted it in the past and the world was against it. In that same light, Russia should also be condemned if they try any forceful invasion. They can keep dancing in the ocean but that should be it. We should not encourage anything that threatens the sovereignty of a nation from the outside just because we want to see another country fall or because the threatened country isn't ours. Neither the US nor Russia has the right to dictate association to others using military power. What I expected from Russia was economic sanctions but they obviously don't have what it takes to pull that off. Edited |
Many factors probably. Some men simply fear success. Getting married to uneducated or not-so-ambitious women helps then maintain control in the marriage. They say they want women that bring something to the table, but they'd still stay away from those that have what it takes to do just that. Again, some educated ladies are very career oriented. They'd rather achieve something before settling down. Let's not forget that educated ladies are likely to be more picky as well. |
SarutobiEky:Ok. I probably misunderstood y'all. I hope he feels that way too cause a one sided joke is the same as bullying. |
SarutobiEky:You guys can be very funny sometimes. You are accusing him of making suicide triggering comments but here you are trolling him cause of his sexuality and calling it "fun" even when it's obvious he's not interested in bantering with you. Anyway, I don't think the guy had the intention of making you or anyone suicidal. He probably made that comment to let you know he's deliberately not saying anything to you and not that he doesn't know how to clap back or hit below the belt. I suggest you reciprocate the respect and leave him alone. Leave bullying for kids. |
Gistmedia10:Especially the females? Really, man? You think this is the girl's fault for having a boyfriend? You see, these things will never stop cause people like you always leave the real culprits to focus on the victims. The boy child beats his girlfriend to a pulp and you're clamoring for an extensive and intensive look into the upbringing of the girl child? When will you people begin to hold yourselves accountable for your actions? Why does the girl child always have to bear the consequences of the boy child's actions? Does this boy appear well brought up to you? Why not call for a reorientation in the way we bring up our male children? We can't keep saying "boys will be boys" while continously trying to reconfigure the girl child to adapt to every impropriety from us. We just can't keep treating misconduct on the male's side with kid gloves and expect a change. We need to let our boys know that having someone as a girlfriend does not give them the right to hit her. They need to know that girls aren't less humans nor are they properties. He can always leave the girl if the relationship isn't working out. |
LebanonCedars2:Meat Loaf did a remake. Even Celine Dion's version was also a remake. The song was written by Jim Steinman and was first sung by Pandora's Box in 1988. Celine Dion released her own version in 1996 while Meat Loaf released his in 2006. There are other non official covers like that of Lea Michele I'm Glee. During the Era of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, etc., covers were very common. In fact, many of Celine's hit songs were covers. |
You guys shouting focus focus should know he only said this cause he was asked. It's not as if he just woke and decided to make his preference in women trend. And those attacking the lady that openly accepted she finds him sexually attractive aren't really any different. You just would prefer you're the only ones allowed to express sexual desires. The goalkeeper is doing a great job. His personal desire doesn't change that. He is also super handsome and there's no way that won't get him extra attention. |
Worlds apart. Where I stay, dogs are supposed to friendly but defensive. People take special steps to socialize dogs so that they wouldn't attack humans or other dogs in the pack. It's considered a shameful thing to step out with unsocialized pets. But the embarrassment is nothing compared to the legal issues one could face if thier dog attacks indiscriminately. The end-goal is to have a dog that knows when to attack. Therefore, this your question might be considered strange. But then in Nigeria, people are looking for ways to make thier dogs more aggressive at all times. Even those lucky to have dogs that seem to have a fair idea of when to attack and when not would still want them to just be aggressive. That said, I think isolating the dog from strangers at all times and/or always having it on chain might do the trick. However, these are very discomforting for the dog (discomfort and isolation generally promote aggression). The truth is, your puppy is a baby and needs to play like one. It is good for thier mental health. Exploring at this age makes them less anxious and more receptive to training. I believe it would be better to have a defensive dog than an offensive one, but I understand situations could be different. Whatever you do, make sure your steps are gradual/progressive; don't just isolate/chain up the dog at once, rather start by reducing thier out-of-cage time and monitor thier behavior. Lovely dog. |
It's as if AFCON just started. Not only does it get more intense, the structure also becomes clearer to non gurus like us. I hope the eagles remain hungry. And whatever happens, I hope Nigerians acknowledge and appreciate their efforts. The two teams seem to be equally capable.

Lordofalmajiri:Hhmm... You don't have to trashtalk a baby just for the sake of banters or tribalism. It's just not cool. The baby is just plump and we all know a baby's physical appearance will likely change as they get older. |
It was not "over traffic violation". You don't ask a minister to step aside just for violating traffic rules, you know. His action when he was issued a ticket is the main reason. He wanted to intefere with the system. |

WoundedLamb:I guess I just have to follow match on here then. |
Where can I watch the match online, please? |
Jaqenhghar:I think staying in shape while in school something he can achieve. He doesn't need his trainers for that bit. We have students that are very much in shape. It all depends on how passionate he is about boxing and what he's willing to do to make his dream come true. |
It's sad you have to chose between the two. Which one can you easily refocus on after finishing the other? I'd say you finish your program and give boxing another go. If you're good and passionate about it, your trainers would still want you in thier team. Francophones in the house, how do you say "reprendre" in English? |
Why not? If he knows you and can talk about you when/if contacted, then I'd say he's good to be a referee. Just don't forget to let him know you're using him as one. **Edit** Some people say you'd lose the job cause the employer might see you as his superior. That's actually ridiculous. |
Gracefullness: Odide009:Thanks guys! |
Aidejay:... to gay people. Africa is doesn't appreciate diversity. Those who killed twins in the past are not different from those criminalizing some people's sexuality today. And it might never end cause for each form of discrimination, they'd always be a large number of people who believe it is right. |
When is Nigeria playing again, please? I'd like to see my people in action! |
Detuner:Yes, the second offense is actually worse than the former. |
You did something wrong, you were fined and you went ahead to call the police chief? Now you're saying you weren't clamoring for the ticket to be rescinded? Why then did you call the police? To punish his men for doing thier job? Please, these guys should not bring this lifestyle to Canada. |
This is great! I'm so proud of Lagos state! ![]() |
God1000:I think her response was well articulated. She's not in a position to approve or disprove other people's choices using her own background, culture or personality as a standard. She could only speak for herself, and she made it clear she wouldn't dress like that. In other words, she wouldn't disrespect or look down on anyone cause of thier choice of dressing. She'd rather do herself and let others do themselves. I think that was a smart way of presenting her opinion without conflicts. @Candidlady, are you in Nigeria? Your answer doesn't seem like it. ![]() |
The past couple of days have been terrible. I didn't even bother opening my door. |
shevchenko:She "match fixed" the 3-2 outcome? Even so, a woman doing that is a good reason not to give the opportunity to the entire gender anymore? |
safarigirl:Nope, permit me to disagree. Ethnocentrism is an ethnic bias. Judging other people using your own culture as a standard is a natural source of intolerance/conflict because no culture is a standard. You can love your ethnic group without being ethnocentric. Believing your race, ethnic group, etc. is superior is exactly what leads to racism. This isn't just about my understanding. This is a word that has a clear definition. Whatever different understand could there be? I'm interested to learn. |
safarigirl:Well, I think your choice of word might not really do justice to your message. You meant the love one has for his ethnic group. Ethnocentrism, on the other hand, is the belief that one's ethnicity is the ultimate standard. Anyway, the most important thing is that your message is not clear. ![]() |
