Nigeria is so far down the list that we shouldn't even be noticed by the locals.
Something is obviously missing.

Nationalization will always be an option. What is the responsibility of the law enforcement agents like police and drug law enforcement agents?
Nationalization can never be an option unless you are ready to become another Zimbabwe.
Leaving aside international reaction, neither the Nigerian government nor the crony it hands
the investment to can profitably run the businesses.

Security is not 100% guaranteed anywhere in the world but there must be enforcement agents willing and able to respond to security challenges anytime required. That is necessary for businesses to thrive. The agreement is about security in totality not partial security that you assumed.
The bold is due to a sense of entitlement.

Since around 2017, many people can no longer use the Kaduna-Abuja expressway for business due to the fear of
kidnapping. Many have been kidnapped and killed even foreign construction workers.
Do you think the foreigners living in Kaduna should move for the nationalization of Nigeria's
asset in their country(if we have any)?

You cannot demand from another country what is not obtainable anywhere in the world
and cannot even guarantee themselves.
The country has one of the worst crime rates in the world, yet you think foreigners should
be immune from such.

I will repeat once again, the only reason country sign business contract is to make sure that
the governments involved play fair on agreed economic policies.

It doesn't mean the citizens suddenly belong to a special and protected class.
They are just like everybody else except that the government will not interfere
in their investment.

If not for the existence of Nigeria, many villages and tribes would have been wiped out

Inside Nigeria, at least the survivors have a place to run to for safety.

Are you saying that the government of both Nigeria and South Africa were foolish to have signed such agreement.

"Protection clause" requires the government of both countries to safe guard the lives, properties, assets, businesses of citizens and foreigners against physical attacks, criminals and forseable harm that are not induced by market forces.

The government has a responsibility to enforce laws and discipline against citizens and foreigners that operate crimes, illegitimate businesses and violate the laws. The law enforcement agents of South Africa government ignored the attackers and their victims, in some cases, as if nothing happened. The police pretended that nothing was happening indirectly encouraging it.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs in South Africa justified xenophobic acts by demonizing the targeted foreigners.

Honestly, I will support any attempt of Nigerian Government to nationalize the assets of South Africa if the government of South Africa continue to support and justify xenophobia, incite their people against foreigners, tolerate xenophobic crimes, attack and jungle justice treatment of foreigners.
If it is about protection from thieves, looters, and burglars, such agreement is meaningless.

The protection is about the actions of the government not its citizens.
If it were to be the case, anytime a foreigner is robbed, mogged or assaulted,
the other country's government should respond by harassing the offending countries citizens in revenge.

Don't find it funny that a nation that can't protect its own citizens will be asking for
protection from another country? The reality is that no country can promise the kind
of protection you are talking about.

There is no freedom from crime anywhere in the world if you don't like the security situation,
you move elsewhere to conduct your business.

I believe that Buhari and his ministers are not that dumb to pursue nationalization
being championed by a mob of economy illiterates.

Not all countries have many nations like Nigeria but I know the maker of Nigeria has 4 nations in their country and address themselves accordingly bringing about freedom respect and responsibility.
All countries have many nations.
You won't understand when you are looking from outside.
There is no country in the world that is made up of one nation(your meaning of it).

Even if Nigeria breaks up. All the countries derived from it would still be made up of
many nations some of which will claim marginalization.

Many people seem to think that a country they like must have been that way because
the people are one. This can't be further from the truth. Take any nation and you will
see an artificial entity forced together by circumstances and Nigeria is not different.

But a short history will show that nations are forged out of wars, treaty, invasions, and others.

Did South African Government protect Nigerian investments in South Africa. The answer is obviously "No". I think the agreement has been violated already by the SA Government.

Nationalization of the assets of South Africa in Nigeria is a regretable but possible option. We must hold South Africa government responsible for their actions and inaction.
You seem to be confused as to the meaning of "protection" in business or trade contracts.
Only a fool will sign an agreement to protect what it can't.
Protection clause is binding on the government, not the criminal citizens.
The contract remains valid until the SA or Nigerian government unilaterally
interfere in each other's investment.

Agreement or not, if you want to do it, you do it.
There is no law or agreement that supports a govt to nationalize foreign investments.
You do it by force. It's just a matter of having the balls to declare foreign assets national and damn the reaction.

Question is, does our present government have the balls?
It would be a different case if it was in the extractive industry where the government
owns the product.
Nationalizing an investment is not different from your landlord seizing your property or business
for whatever reason.
I am sure you would not be too excited by such a move.

That's a political talk! Tinubu is a nationalist who believes in Yoruba nation.

The word "Nigerian nationalist" doesn't exist because Nigeria is not a nation but a country of many nations. So you are either a Yoruba nationalist, Hausa nationalist or IIgbo nationalist among others The dishonesty of black people won't let them admit this fact just as the Nigeria's creator themselves Britain made it clear.
You can say the same about any country.

Answer this without using Google.
Who are the songwriters for Wizkid, Davido, Former P-Square songs?

Unless you are working with them, you can never know.
Are you telling me that those unknown writers are the real inventors
and deserve a large share of the profit?
You probably don't understand music.
Those writers are free to sell to anyone but they didn't.

Blackface did not invent anything.
Even different singers do use the same lyrics partially or completely.
How many songwriters that are not singers are millionaire?
I am waiting for your list.
Instead of being emotional and hating on 2face.
Ask yourself what the goal of blackface is.

A musician is under no obligation to pay or credit a writer unless they
have a contract stating otherwise.

Blackface is a failure using emotional blackmail to get a ransom payment
but he would never get it.
There is a reason why he is still a church rat despite claiming credit for many popular
musicians song.

No difference in flogging.
It depends on the teacher involved.
I find that flogging is mostly the same for all genders.
The exception is the "trouble" kids who usually get extra.

You may want to explore other punishment such as bush clearing and toilet washing
which may have a gender slant.

seunmsg:
You are simply saying what the white imperialist want us to believe. Before Mandela became the darling of the west, Mugabe was the poster boy of western imperialist. Zimbabwe has the best educational system in Africa and the economy was doing fine until he finally listened to the demands of his people that justice be done to land ownership in the country. The western world ruined Zimbabwe’s economy with crippling sanctions for daring to take away lands from white land grabbers.
Mandela was seen as a terrorist during the struggle, so I know what I am talking about.
Mandela became the darling of the west when he chose forgiveness over revenge because
he understood that the whites had all the experience with the running of critical industry and it will be difficult
to start afresh had the whites been expelled or sidelined.

He also knew the potential economic backlash that could follow such action because the west controlled the world economy.

You don't blame the west, you blame Mugabe who lacks the foresight of revenge sanction for his action.
As an educated statesman, he should have known that the world economy runs on practicality and not morality or revolutionary ideals.
A good leader ignores his people's cry when it is in their best interest.

South Africa that you are praising today is a walking time bomb. The xenophobic attacks that we are witnessing today is basically a result of the unequal distribution of economic resources between white and black South Africans. A time will come when black South Africans will realize that African migrants are not their problem but white South Africans that control over 80% of the country’s wealth. When that time comes, the government of South Africa would have no choice than to pursue an economic redistribution policy that is similar to the land redistribution policy that Mugabe did.
There is no evidence that SA will be better off had they seized all the resources and redistributed it
to the people afterall we have many other African countries with no white citizens as an example.

Even if their government had a change of heart and start the redistribution today, the country will
only grow equal in poverty because of resource redistribution especially among the variable skilled populace
has never worked in practice.

I am not against redistribution but it should be done gradually even in a clandestine manner because
the stakes are quite high.

Poverty in SA is a product of endemic corruption and incompetent government.
The debate about resource redistribution is still raging in SA, it is not a settled issue.
Maybe it will eventually happen but the result will not be that different from Zimbabwe.

While you talk about the ills of SA, you should remember that they have a net positive migration with many African
countries. If it is so bad, no one will migrate there.
PoliticsRe: Late Mugabe, Britain And The Lancaster Agreement by Xisnin(m): 6:15pm On Sep 06, 2019
Blue3k:
Educate the thread. I dont anything about this agreement besides what im currently skimming on wikipedia and other sources I can find.
The highlight of the agreement is the delayed land transfer in exchange for aid.

Mugabe and other war veterans had agreed to the staggered return of land to the native
in exchange for international aid and developmental projects.

The aid was coming in as promised after the agreement.

Whether it is due to pressure from his fellow revolutionaries or his own ego, no one can really tell. But Mugabe
withdrew from the agreement which automatically means that the minority whites are a fair game to the natives. The action
brought about revenge sanctions against Zimbabwe.

I know that the land belongs to Zimbabweans and it is unfair for settlers to be in charge of lands.
But tricky situations require the application of wisdom for long-term success.

I believe that Zimbabwe would have been on par with SA had Mugabe not reneged.
