Who cares? Cultural imperialism would never take root here. |
protests:So, it is all about your personal benefits? SMH |
thesicilian:There is nothing peaceful about blocking roads. The right of a few does not trump the majority. |
crafteck:I was right. You, like most Nigerians never ever want to contribute to the country's growth. How much is being "lavished" and how much would it cost to pay all those people? Never mind, we can always borrow more from China. How much do you think will be enough for these workers, American or British minimum wage? |
Who did this barbaric jungle justice? The attackers or the victims? |
crafteck:How much are you prepared to pay as additional tax? |
But how much has Sowore, an agent of destabilization, made from his foreign sponsors? Sowore wanted to exclusively hijack the protest but he couldn't. He is now crying fowl. I am not saying it is impossible that some people have been settled but only those who don't know Sowore's dark agenda will consider him a saint. |
The reason is poor education, lack of real moral and self-esteem. A society gets the leader it deserves. If you don't want looters in power, stop supporting them when they are on your side. |
Farki:I mentioned illiteracy as one of the factors. Education has its place but no amount of education can change someone's socieconomic reality. Even in countries with well-founded sex education, income plays a big role in rates of HIV and other STI infections between the haves and havenots. SA despite adopting sex education has 10 times worse HIV stats than Nigeria with little to none. My point is that there are multiple factors at play here and no one solution is enough. |
protests:Perhaps, you are not in Nigeria, has been home-bound or don't stay in one of the active cities. Regular policemen aren't fools, they won't risk being at the wrong place. When BLM protests was at its peak, cops stayed away even when shops are being looted and burned a stone throw from their position. The last thing they want is another accident to provoke protesters. Many police unit have left their regular corners and are staying safe at the station because their presence may provoke further unrest. Even EFCC has stopped arrests. If criminals now have complete freedom, then that means we should simply ask all the remaining policemen to go home then. You really don't want to live in an environment with no police at all except villages. The one million boys onslaught will be a child's play should that happen. |
Blame poverty and illiteracy for this. It may even get worse as the stigma around sex work is rapidly being eroded. Even immature teenagers are not left out of illicit sex for money or clout. Never trust anyone completely. |
I have noticed something similar too. Everyone must be alert and avoid night movement. Criminals understand that they now have complete freedom for a little time and would exploit the opportunity before it closes. SARS is not coming back but order will eventually be restored. |
Sponsored communists and agents of chaos have hijacked some of the protests. They are not interested in any solutions but to istigate violence and tear down the system so they can come up on top. Segalinks have seen the evidence too, that is why he is backing down. |
Samorobo2:The sad thing is that this "commander" is one of the educated among the criminally-minded SARS officer. Yet, he can't get it. He has a tertiary education certificate but he is a functional illiterate. |
Fake bipolar excuse. Taking drips on hospital bed is not an evidence of being bipolar. In fact, it is quite the opposite. |
Princedapace:No. You didn't. You justified why SARS became a rogue agent and try to link it to Yahoo boys. When the 2 issues are very separate. How happy will you be if Soldiers starts killing and collecting bribe from random Borno people because Boko harams operates there? After banning Sars, we need to purge our society off fraud. Fraud has killed this country both home and away.Learn to separate issues. There are Yahoo boys and there are criminal SARS killing, maiming, extorting and even engaged in illegal organ trafficking of suspects. I was not even in support of #EndSars as it was being currently proposed because I think it wouldn't change much. We must learn to hold our leaders accountable instead of embracing fraud as a means to escape failed system of govt. This doesn't stop us from denoucing criminal state agents. There is no rule that says every problem must be solved at once. BTW, I do not believe in blaming "our leaders" for all problems. This is one of the reasons we can't solve many problems. We are avoiding the real issues and dodging responsibilities. Remember that BLM protests happened in a "sane" country. If we purge off Sars and continue with our almost total support of fraud, we will birth even more problemsThis is like saying things will become worse if you purge boys scout. You seem to love SARS and believe that SARS are enemies of fraudsters. They aren't. They are partners. SARS don't charge Yahoo boys to court, so why are you supporting them if you are not one? |
Princedapace:You miss the entire point of this post. SARS are not some occupying force, gods or angel of justice. They are criminals looking for their own cut. It will have been a different case if SARS charge Yahoo boys to court. But they never do it because they are partners. This same act these policemen are doing is exactly what these foreign websites are doing to all Nigerians. Many web services have blacklisted Nigeria even though not all of us are into fraud. Many foreign customers as a freelancer will run a way from u once they know u are a Nigerian who lives in Nigeria that is why many freelancers use fake identity. No foreign website collects money from Yahoo boy and let them operate freely after. That is exactly what the robbery gang of SARS do. In fact, a Yahoo boy has more right than non-criminals because they don't argue, they settle. Anyone who uses fake identities are also criminals. Every criminal has an excuse for acting the way they do. Our society almost became known for fraud.Fixed. I agree, you should stop praising fraudsters. Also, stop supporting criminal SARS agents. The greatest supporter of Yahoo boys are SARS. They drink and wine together in hotels and collect their own cut from proceeds of crime. If you encounter SARS, should they have the right to kill, maim or extort you because you might be a Yahoo boy? |
And an over-pampered kid is leading it. Ipob logic. |
Camelot65:No, I don't. Alpha males don't tolerate dissent. They punish disloyalty(breakup in this case) with extreme violence. From Lions to Gorillas to the devolving Humans, it is all th same to them. |
Dumb and criminal illiterate. In as much as I am totally against Yahoo boys, it is not SARS' job to harass random people and go through their phone and social media accounts. You need warrant to check someone's phone. It would have been better if these criminals only search phones but their main aim is to rob their victims under the threat of gun. Merely having 3 different banking apps may lead to threats and extortion. If they check this man's account, they would likely find millions in proceed of crimes and bribes from the so-called criminals he is supposedly fighting. |
passengar:You want to create another extortion ring like SARS? It is natural selection at work here and the beast will pay for his crime. |
Alpha male. He doesn't take nonsense from his inferiors. How dare she want a breakup? |
This analysis is long but outdated. The gold standard is dead and only some conspiracists and scam artists are calling for its return. China wasn't invited into a so-called rich club, it worked its way into it. Exchange rate is irrelevant to a country's prosperity, it is our economic ignorance and over reliance on foreign goods that make many think so. The question the OP should be asking is why are Nigerians and its economists obsessed with western country's view? |
Tetrahedron:And what happened to those countries citizens? |
![]() What an inglorious knockout. The warrior speaker has become an ordinary untrusted member. One of the structural problem of our democracy is the legislators being controlled by the executive. |
It is too late now. I would have supported moving all SARS personnel to Borno and Katsina state. |
DoubleEngine007:Don't believe everything you read. No, they won't. In fact, it will be hard getting a kid arrested in the first place. The same lies that his making BLM lose credibility may also start making Nigeria police look like saints. |
DoubleEngine007:Better police handcuffing a kid? |
ASUU is a private union. They have the right to assemble. You could suggest that the government should sack all ASUU members. But destroying unions often come at a future steep cost. |
MLTR:The bold is short-term thinking. |
JBoss25:Students of history will understand me better. This is an old trick indirectly used to suppress real change. |
Yeah. They will just rename them, no policy change, no new regulations and nothing. Emotional protests hardly bring real change. |
