Jobs/VacanciesRe: 8 Things You Can Buy And Hold As Investment In Nigeria by Yoighaman(m):
Vipro:
1. Maggi cubes.

Maggi was two for N5 in 2012, but now it’s one for N10 now. Who knows, you could wake up next year and hear that one cube of Knorr Chicken now goes for N50 per piece. Better buy the dip now before it rises.

2. Titus sardine.
Titus Sardine (125g) – Chopbox
Sardines are now hotcake, but Titus sardine is the hottest of them all. It recently attained a record high when it rose from N340 to N650 in less than one week. Bitcoin is shaking. You better buy and hodl now, so you can resell when it lands at N1k.

3. Egg.

You can bear me witness when I say eggs once sold for N25 per piece, four pieces for N100. Now, one piece of egg goes for nothing less than N80. Chickens are now laying the new Cryptocurrency. Egg-o-currency to the moon!

4. Gas.

Before we say anything, it is important to let you know that anyone who can afford to refill their gas these days is a ritualist. If they cook for you with that gas, you better not eat it. Maybe they want to collect your destiny and use it to refill gas. But please, investing in gas is one easy way to cash out these days. Do you know how much one kg costs now? You better buy and hodl now. Christmas is coming, you will make your money back. Just stay safe sha. Don’t let your investment kill other people. Their ghost will swear for you.

5. Onions.

Onions will soon start competing with gold. Two small pieces now sell for N100. And these are sizes that used to sell at N20 per piece. Can you see how wide the profit margin is? If you are lucky, you can enter into partnership with a caterer. Year in year out, you will just be cashing out. If we were you, we would even buy stocks for our unborn children with it.

6. Titus fish.
Titus Fish – Frozen – Carton (20Kg) – FARMBOY.NG
Like Titus sardine, like Titus fish. One piece now goes for N1k plus, and according to the investment analysts on Zikoko’s Wall Street, this is still estimated to rise higher. You better buy ice blocks and convert your bathing drum into a cold storage. Stock up Titus fish and wait. When the boom happens, even Dangote will be begging you to invest in his business. Dangote wey still dey find money.

7. Frozen turkey and chicken.
OROBO CHICKEN 1 KILO - chef360
Frozen turkey is now N2,500, if not more. Frozen chicken is slowly climbing up to N2,000 per kilo. If after all our advice, you still don’t know that you should invest in it now, then we are sorry for you oh. Don’t you want to get rich?

8. Vegetable oil and palm oil.
King's Vegetable Oil 3 L - GoMarket
If anyone is saying tech is the best place to make money, it is a big lie. Tech, when you can invest in vegetable oil and palm oil, and cash out big timehuh Do you know how much one gallon of vegetable oil is now? BUY THE DIP NOW OH. BUY IT NOW. A lot of these tech people are surviving on investment returns from vegetable oil and palm oil. They are just using tech to cover face. If tech is as easy as they say, how come you have not made money after one week of UI/UX?.

RomanceRe: If You Are A Lady In Your Late 30s And Still Single, Please read This - Opinion by Yoighaman(m): 12:40am On Oct 25, 2021
Toks2008:
Creating this thread has been on my mind for a long time but for some reasons I kept shelving it but after coming across a thread on front page about a 41 year old single lady asking for advise I think it is about time I drop this.

Now what you are about to read is for ladies who are still single in their late 30s and I will make it as simple and as real as possible...

You will never come across the advise I'm about to give you from pastors or many relationship experts but as many people already know me, I keep it as real as possible.

1. Understand that not everybody will get married:

Marriage is not a do or die thing... Marriage does not define who you are and you must never be bothered by what people say cos most of them are Clueless about the institution of marriage. Those who truly understand will never look down on you because you are single. Your happiness is more important than marriage.

2. Be financially independent: Any single lady in her late 30s should never make it a priority to get married cos the more you worry about it the more pressure you put on yourself and this is bad for your psych.

At this stage of your life, self actualization is what you need and trust me, by the time you make it a priority to get the best out of life, this will inadvertently gravitate men to you.

Before I give this third advise let me share this very touching story...

I remember a certain lady who contacted me about 6years ago and she said she has made up her mind to be a single mum if she turns 36 and she is still unmarried and asking me to be ready to donate sperm for her cos she sees me as a responsible guy... Furthermore, she will not put any pressure on me to be financially responsible for the child as she is well to do but she just want to have a child to avoid a situation where she will reach menopause and still childless.

Unfortunately she left this world before she could make this happen... So What is the point?

3. GET A SPERM DONOR TO BEAT EARLY MENOPAUSE.

The paramount purpose of a lady is not necessarily marriage but to multiply, bring forth new generations and replenish the earth. The good thing is that with the modern medical advancement, any lady can achieve this without getting married.

Believe it or not, it is better to get a sperm donor and be a single mum than getting married under pressure to a jerk who will make life hell for you.

If you are a lady still single in your late 30s please get a man to donate sperm for you. You don't have to sleep with him and he needs not be financially responsible for the child but just for you to point to somebody in future as the child's father. This will let you relax to get a better choice of a husband.

4. A man who will love you will love you.

Some may say once they are single mums, guys will run from them and YES I agree but this will also attract real men who understand that single motherhood is not a taboo but Infact a proof that a lady is fertile, a proof that she is responsible enough to keep a baby even when they had the choice to abort.. No genuine man will reject a lady cos she is a single mum especially if the child(ren) is her first.

5. And lastly as suggested by Pocohantas in the comment below... If you are open to polygamy, give it a shot.

According to her, as a lady gets older in Nigeria, it gets harder to see a never-been-married man with noble intentions. So if you don’t mind polygamy, if you just want to have your kids by one man, find one polygamous man and have all your kids with him.

All I wrote, this is an opinionated advise but any lady in this position could still decide to wait until she finds a husband but she must understand that whilst she is waiting, her time is ticking and menopause will definitely come regardless.

I hope this makes sense.
You tried with this your write-up but a single mum a.k.a baby mama is a big NO NO, many (not all) of them are toxic, avoid them for your own good.

duyox2004:
I hate it. I’m 41, never married, no kids.

I’ve been close…twice. But ended both relationships when they were caught cheating.

I’ve dated several men since then, most older than me, and they seemed to be in no hurry to even be in a committed relationship. Which is crazy to me that these men are mid-40s and still trying to hangout with the guys and party. I met a whole guy group of friends in Houston 2 years ago…all single, all 36–45 years old. They were throwing house parties during the quarantine…parties!!

When I was in grade school, I was told to get a degree, don’t get pregnant, just enjoy being single, make friends, keep dating, and the right man will find you.

Now that I have two degrees, traveled the world, developed hobbies, and avoided pregnancy…my doctors are telling me to just be a single mom because I’m running out of eggs as I type this message.

I beat teenage pregnancy to be considering single motherhood at 41.

Damn you, parents, counselors, pastors, and everyone who gave me that advice. I can’t get that time (or my eggs) back. I hate being single at this age!!

When you are running a degree abroad, you are studying to becoming educated.

In Nigeria, you are schooling...with no hope of being educated or getting a job. That's why they say school na scam (Nigeria)....not education (abroad).

Abroad, it's called tutors.

In Nigeria, lecturers.

Abroad, free modules.

In Nigeria, recycled expensive rubbish called handouts.

Abroad, you have discussions, interviews, responses and peer-reviews...before assignments.

In Nigeria, tear a sheet of paper.

Abroad, you have a zeal in attending classes.

In Nigeria, “course rep, where is my attendance? Who has paid for my handouts?”

Abroad, A shows you are a bright student. You may never get to get zero...they'll be marks for attempting.

In Nigeria, A is for God, B is for Lecturer, C is for serious students which comprise those interested in sexually transmitted grades, and yahoo boys.

Abroad, you can request for extensions if you miss assignments.

In Nigeria, who is your father to walk into my office to authorise me to give you grace?

Abroad, there is serenity to learn.

In Nigeria, you are always on pressure. How can you learn?

Abroad, you are addressed respectfully by your surname...“Mr. Smith, I am afraid you are going to have to go on detention for a week.”

In Nigeria, “hey, you...Kai, if you do as if it is not you I am talking to eh, I swear to God. I will show you what you haven't seen all your life. It's not a threat. You'll carry this course over.”

Abroad, tutors get sacked for thinking of attempting to make things difficult for students by their actions or inactions.

In Nigeria, go and dare report a lecturer. Your days in that school will be the days of Methuselah.

Brethren, no matter the urge you have, never you argue abroad you are from Nigeria.

These are two different worlds.

Nigeria is an international village forced together for administrative convenience by colonial masters! Nigeria is not a country!

With these few points of mine....

Thank you.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: How I Doubled My Salary Two Years In A Row, And Will Be Tripling It This Year! by Yoighaman(m): 12:19pm On Oct 18, 2021
ReventifyCV:
If you have ever felt the pressing need to increase your income, then you’ll understand exactly how I felt a few years ago. It was in the year 2017, a year where a whopping inflation rate of 16.5% mocked my position and salary. I didn’t need a soothsayer or a Nobel Laureate in Economics to forecast that my salary would become peanuts in a few years.
My salary was nowhere near “enough” to live the life I wanted, not to talk of investments or retirement plans. Moreover, in the previous year (2016), the country had already experienced a massive inflation rate of 15.7%. So just thinking about my future made me realize that I had to do more, be more, and earn more – fast! Thinking retrospectively, I can not help but wonder what would have become of me if I did nothing, hoping my employer would miraculously bump up my salary (and position) as the rate of inflation kept increasing. But, luckily for me, I had the initiative to take some steps and break the status quo. And those steps are what I’m about to share with you.

So, how did I double my salary two years in a row, and how do I plan to triple it this year? The value you provide is directly proportional to the income you earn. But you must have a way of capturing that income.

Rule #1: Never Allow Anyone To Dictate Your Career Growth
Waiting for a promotion is not a good career growth strategy, especially if your company doesn’t have a good promotion track record.
You should review your career every six months in stricter metrics than a company would check your performance. You should also start exploring multiple career options and opportunities at least once a year, especially in the first ten years of your career.

How I took control of my career growth
So how did I go about this? First, I had to develop a 5-year career plan in 2017. Part of my plan was to become the Managing Director of a Fintech Company. At that time, I wasn’t so confident that I would get there, but I did work towards it. And voila! It happened in exactly four years. And that’s the thing about a clearly stated goal – it helps you do what needs to be done to achieve it. So here’s a bit more detail.
I went for my MBA towards the end of 2017. I took an MBA because I needed a break from work, a change of environment, and a change of mindset. I had spent too much time with people that were not in a hurry to change their career trajectory for too long. Upon returning, I had two offers, one was for a 40% growth in my previous salary, and the other came several weeks after for a 100% growth in my prior salary (two times what I previously earned). However, both offers did not come on a platter of gold. I did have to employ a proper job search strategy that I had been developing for several months. I knew what I could offer a company and how much the company would generate from hiring me. I then articulated this to the hiring managers and negotiated a salary that seemed a steal for each party (for the company and me).

Side-hustles and continuous learning
During my MBA program, I also learned the art of creating great CVs and was specific about which companies would demand my services. Therefore, it took me two months to get multiple offers. In some of my career coaching sessions, people have asked me if they will have results without an MBA. Well, first of all, I was only able to raise the money for my MBA after close to 2 years of having multiple side-hustles and being persistent in driving my career forward.

Secondly, the MBA degree was not necessarily instrumental in helping me land a job, as I have a few friends who struggled after graduating for many months. Instead, what helped me was my continuous learning about the job market and how to position myself and be attractive to recruiters.
The conclusion? Keep learning and advancing in your field so that you can become super attractive to recruiters.

Rule #2: Your Degree is Only Half Of It. Understanding The Job Market is More Important
Lots of people earn new certifications or study for degrees without crafting their career plans. All they think about is how they can land a job with their new arsenal. While certifications are important, more necessary is understanding how the job market works (especially if you’re already in it). The most important things to do are:
- Achieve great things at the company you work for
Identify and network with influential people (either hiring managers or senior professionals) in industries/companies you would like to work for.
The first allows you to become more attractive, and the second ensures that the people you’re talking to have confidence in your ability. Because if they do, they will recommend you for job opportunities when they arise.
- Understanding the company you work for
When I got my fintech job, I had one goal: to align my big ambitions with that of the company. So, for instance, if the company’s primary goal was to increase revenues and grow the user base, that had to become my goal. Now, it doesn’t matter whether you’re working in customer support or engineering. You have to align yourself to what the company wants to achieve, irrespective of what your boss would measure your performance on.
Of course, you need to achieve your performance targets set by the company. However, what they set is usually the minimum expectation. On your path, you must keep doing over and above that for two reasons. First, if you want to seek a raise, you’ll be able to negotiate your compensation better. Secondly, if you’re going to leave the company, other employers (and indeed your employer) will be in a bidding war over you. That’s how much worth and power improving yourself can get you.

This was what I did, and within a year, I had a raise with 30% growth in my salary. Less than six months after, my salary increased once more by 60%. While I was a bit happy about my career growth, the naira had devalued by more than 55% in the last few years.

Understanding the company you work for
Rule #3: There’s Never A Right Time To Start A Business
Many people keep waiting for the “right” or “perfect” time to start a business. But, if you’re passionate about improving your life and doubling your income many times over, then you must be willing to start early. Why? Because starting early will allow you to learn early enough. And in no time, you’re already doing better than you could have imagined!
I decided to start a consulting service and a side business for coaching job seekers during the pandemic. This led to me beginning Reventify as I wanted to scale the business and reach many more people who couldn’t afford my 1-on-1 services. Doing this brought in a lot more opportunities, and that’s why I’ll be having another record-breaking year as per my income. I’m telling this story as there’s a lot to learn about oneself once you’re devoted to a path and are willing to learn from others.

After you become more valuable by investing in yourself, your ability to leverage is the surest way to earn many times what you currently earn. Why? Because you’re able to do more with less!

So, if you have a passion, start now, and you’ll begin to attract all the help and guidance you need! There are two fundamental principles to earning more. The first is to be more valuable, and the second is to master the art of leveraging. Doubling your income is easier than you think! However, it’s not an overnight hack. Instead, it’s a solid long-term growth strategy!
Nice post.

Thanks for sharing.

Firstly I really appreciate your input, well said. But on the second thought that amount he has won’t give him enough foodstuff to get profit with him getting a shop as well. I own a food stuff shop, I can tell you the profit margin is so terrible now because of the inflation, true he will sell because people must eat but the profit margin is ridiculously terrible these days. Spaghetti is 10naira gain, semo is 20gain, most of those stuffs are between 10-20 gain these days. Let me shock you, a bag of rice you can only get between 350-500 gain, do you how long it will take him to sell 64dericas. See the fact is it moves but the profit is not like before, most sellers are just roughing it. Those Igbo guys doing it, it’s on a very high scale they invest several millions in it so they end up selling to wholesalers and they have volume. Those 10,20naira in large volume at least makes sense but they are still complaining. I know so many of them, then secondly they have other businesses that sustains them they won’t tell you.
If it’s other kind of food stuffs is ok but you see raw food stuff is a no no. You can sell market of 10k in a day, your profit might be 500naira because you are putting almost all the money back ASAP. People are not saying the truth on the raw food stuff biz.
Secondly, the flunctuation of prices will frustrate him, you can buy a keg oil this week for 20k and it will reduce to 18k in 3days time. You have to sell with the new price or else people will not buy because food stuff have so many competitors. Even if you get updates on new market Prices you can’t be fully updated so you will surely run at a loss.

Thirdly putting someone there will ruin the biz as he won’t be able to measure theft. He can only count few things.

I also have a thrift store for Akube (Uk and Us) , that one make sense gan. You can count even it increases, you make gain on clothes and shoes from 30-100%. He can be confident putting someone there because the account is open.

Gracias
You have obviously spoken from experience.

Thanks for advising the OP on these businesses.

This is so shameful. A married woman who is still in her husband's house?

Is the Kpopogri guy not concerned about the consequences of his irresponsible actions? Are we sure this Janemena's husband is still in his right senses? Because I don't understand how a man would have blatant disregard for you, first of all by sleeping with your wife and then posting it on the internet.

Yes, we know it takes two to tango but this is just crazy. If her husband remains in that marriage, then his head needs to be checked.

Good morning or Good day,
The long and short of the story is, I want to take the CFA professional exams and I want to know if it is still relevant in the industry, Nigeria particularly and this is me considering the exchange rate currently, how profitable it would be for me in a long run professionally and if i were to leave Nigeria, is it recognized in the USA, Canada and all.

My fears and questions are:
1) I don’t want to spend money on a certificate that would not earn me more money.
2) I also don’t want a certificate that is not transferable
3) Would it be better to do an MBA than take this CFA course?

I would really appreciate if I could get answers

And please , could I get past questions and study papers and if possible link up with someone who has done the CFA exams so I ask some more questions.

Thank you.
CFA is one of the best certifications anyone in the world of accounting and finance can get.

Like someone mentioned, if you've got the funds, brain and time, please go for it.

I however suggest you get the 'low hanging fruit' first; that's the MBA (from a reputable institution, preferably outside Nigeria)

Acquiring the CFA can be very very rigorous, plus your resilience must be very high, otherwise, it might break you down mentally and emotionally.

Nothing is impossible to achieve.

All the best.
