I have always maintained my stance on justice and so I shall do given that the information on this recent event is the correct account. I've not commented because I wasn't sure of what really transpired. This is my verdict: If it was the throne of the Akure monarch that installed the Eze Ndigbo of the town then that same throne has the powers to strip him of the title. It is that simple. The reason and manner through which he was dethroned is another case. Now regarding what really transpired, I'll say if the Eze was rude to the Deji then he failed in his duty as a leader and deserves to be reprimanded. Eze Ndigbo is there to protect and cater for the welfare of the Igbos there and while doing so should do it within the ambits of laws of his hosts. The issue of wearing a crown is just so irrelevant and quite laughable. If he wears a crown to see the Deji it does not in any shows a sign of disrespect. He is not a Yoruba man and moreso from the Deji's domain. What if it was the sarkin hausawa wearing a turban to see the Akure monarch, does it mean he will also have to remove his turban? Let's not allow sentiments blur our sense of reasoning. The issue of wearing a crown should not be a source of quarrel as that will show how petty the Deji is.
Finally, to UnCloth a man who is not subject of yours and flogging him like a kid more a representative of another ethnic group is really and invitation to war. Such things have really led to war in the ancient times. The story is really a suspicious one. How can a people who have been living peacefully of about seventy years without having problems suddenly have the first one and it will get to this level? It shows that one party has really not been sincere in his dealings with the other one. The Yoruba king seriously overreacted and I think its not unconnected with what's happening in Lagos. This is a wake up call to all Igbos in Yoruba land. The Yorubas are no longer comfortable with you. They are barely tolerating us. I've always said it: we must organise ourselves and pursue Biafra with all we have. We cannot live according to the wishes of others. Let me stop here for now.

I understand though. that was the first and only war you have ever fought so far.

Awolowo did what he had to do. and thanks to him, his policy ended the war quickly otherwise maybe there won't even be a tribe called igbo anymore.

when I said of recent that those dismissed soldiers who buhari reinstated was not just for doing them any good, many didn't understand me. I said they were brought back to be pushed into the front lines where they will be wasted. This is to ensure that they die with their knowledge and experience about warfare. nobody is saying that he's not the most well-known igbo chief in the minds of nigerians.

don't compare him with emir of kano or ooni etc.
Those regions have always had kings, rulers etc......that's why the europeans loved them.....they were easier for them to govern.
Igbos never had kings....That's why Onitsha has never claimed to be igbo....they claim allegiance to the Oba of Benin.
Get your facts right pls.
Most of you misunderstand this concept of Igbo enweghi eze. What is means is that Igbos don't have absolute rulers whose single words become laws. We had leaders in various capacities but no absolute kings. Even the Obi of Onitsha or the Obi of Agbor doesn't have such powers as the Oba of Benin. Yes both kings got their stool through the inspiration of the Benin monarchy but because of the nature of Igbos they can never wield such powers as the Oba. Even the Eze Nri with his sacredness was not seen as a representatives of God on earth. This doesn't take away the fact that the Onitsha and Agbor people revere their kings more than how other Igbos value theirs.

Everyone hold your peace!

It is a fact that most of these people claiming to have "most influential kings" are not proper Igbos in real sense.

Onitshas are hybrid Igbos whose ancestry is traceable to Benin; a fact that have never been disputed or refuted. They are even more comfortable identifying with Benins than Igbos. For the avoidance of doubt why is he called Agbogidi? What does that mean in Igbo?

As for Nri stock, facts kiss are beginning to emerge that they have Igala ancestory. They have been smart to deceive the authentic Igbos with their concocted history of ERI and GAD.

I strongly believe that "Igbo enweghi Eze". I make bold to say that most of you making claims of superiority of your king over others ARE NOT NDIGBO. You either ORU (hybreed) or MBIARA-ABIA (migrants).
There's nothing like hybrid Igbos so take note. No group of people are entirely pure breed. There must be a mix some where. Even my home town became mixed during the civil war. Name your town and after a thorough research I'll tell you how mixed you are. Igbo bu ofu.

I don't have time to read your jargons. Obi of Onitsha is the most influential and most powerful KING in Igboland. Onitsha is the oldest city in Igboland. That was the place Ajayi Crowther, Sanders brothers, Mongo Park etc first visited on arriving in this part of the world. Crowther was at the time resident in Onitsha when he was propagating the word of GOD through CMS.

Eze Nri is understandably the custodian of Igbo culture but all those other kings you mentioned are inconsequential village heads and elders.

Igwe Orizu of Nnewi is equally very powerful.

[s][/s]
Chino you can liar o. How can the Onitsha monarchy be more than 500years when onitsha itself is a young town? Even Asaba is older than Onitsha. For the sake of clarity let me outline the kings that the Europeans met in Igboland. Obi Ossai of Aboh(Ukwuani, Delta state), Obi of Agbor(Ika, Delta state), Obi Aroli of Onitsha(Anambra state) and Eze Nri( Anambra state). These are the ones I know with records that the Europeans met in the 19th century. Among all of them the one that struck the British was the Eze Nri. He was not to be seen any how. There's even a book written by a whiteman I've forgotten his name which goes by something like this: at last we've found the King of the Ibos. He said that because of the sacredness surrounding the Eze. The wealth of tradition at Nri was unparalleled all over Igboland and had no similarity else where. With this I have come to accept Eze Nri as the custodian of Igbo culture. Every other Igbo gets the respect that I'll give to any respectable person(those claiming any specialty because they are from Nri should take note). Without doubt, Agbogidi is the most Influential politically and a very powerful(note not the most powerful) is not in doubt. I salute him: Igwe I ga adi o. Igwe Orizu of Nnewi though influential and wealthy does not measure up to Achebe. I know that the Nnewi people will try to prop him up because Nnewi itself is becoming very big and developed but there are ingredients that Onitsha already have the Nnewi will sweat to get. Notice that no one remembers the Obi of Aboh any more. Aboh still exists in Delta state. It was that Obi who sold the Lander brothers to the Atta of Igala. He was very influential but today his throne is in ruins.
Now coming to all Igboland, I heard that the Abiriba people had Eze when the Europeans came but I've not been able to get any written confirmation. Arochukwu too I heard had a king but no confirmation although they had military leaders that led them against the British soldiers named Toti but what tradition was he known for? What are the rituals that he performs as is consistent with African kings of his time? Then, Jaja of Opobo is there too but I won't include him in this discussion. Note my writing is based on history of the existence of their throne and the influence it had both then and now. Majority of the Obis, Ezes and the recent Igwes are manufactured in the twentieth century(colonial Nigeria) and some even post colonial Nigeria. How can we call such people custodian of Igbo culture and tradition. Let's be objective please.

What would you say if I told you that between last year and this year an estimated 11,000 people have been killed in Plateau State, mainly in Berom communities? What if I told you that over 40 villages have been sacked and some wiped out completely in Berom communities alone? If you were Nigerian you would try to correct me and say that I am probably talking about North East and not the North Central. You would be wrong. What if I told you that 11,000 is a conservative number?
What if I asked you to station yourself at any mortuary and count the number of corpses that come in every single day from gun and machete injuries from the hands of armed Fulani men sometimes in cohorts with security agencies? Even if you were able to count the victims, I would ask you of the ones that are missing. I would ask of the bodies thrown in the wells. I would ask of hastily prepared same day burials because it is easier to bury the people today than to keep them and add the corpses of the next day to them. You would then ask me why? I would ask you what you have heard. You would tell me that you heard that the Berom people are cattle rustlers.
Plateau protest, I would ask you how an 18 month old baby could rustle cattle. I would ask you how a 6 month old foetus even knew about cattle. I would ask you how whole communities collide and steal cattle. I will ask you how many cows are worth 11,000 lives. I would ask you how hundreds of thousands of people have had to flee their ancestral lands, farms and houses because they have been condemned to die for allegedly rustling cattle. I would ask you whether the wages of cattle rustling is death. Then you would wonder with me why cows only get rustled in Plateau. When places like Bauchi and Southern Kaduna and even in some parts of Gana Wuri in Plateau have more cattle than Berom land but have not witnessed the pogrom on the scale that Beroms have witnessed. Then you would be puzzled and ask me what was so special about the rustling in Berom land. I would laugh and ask you to sit down.
I will tell you of land rich from the top to the bottom. I will tell you of the unmined lands of tin rich Kuru. I would tell you of the columbite in Bisichi. I would tell you about Gasish, Rim, Foron, Vat and so many other mineral rich areas. I would tell you about the Chinese with bags of money and determination to evade tax. I will tell you about the Hausas that sell minerals to the Chinese men. I will tell you about the Beroms that have been terrorized out of their land. I will tell you of exaggerated tales of rustling. I will tell you of isolated Berom youths in collision with Fulani youth. I will tell you of Fulani who have discovered that mining makes faster and easier money than herding. I will tell you of Fulani women who no longer carry calabashes with Fura da nono on their heads. I will tell of Fulani women that carry large pans filled with earth. Berom earth that is full of Tin, Columbite, Tantalite, Wolframite. You would need to sell hundreds of calabashes to buy a gun.
But a pan filled with earth, keeps the men armed. I will tell you of a decline in cattle rearing that started since the 80s with education and when Fulanis started embracing dry season farming. I will tell you of hectares and hectares of land lying fallow. For their husband men are missing, fleeing, dying or dead. I will tell you about empty huts and houses. I will tell you about burnt settlements. I will tell you about the new owners. You would then ask me about government protection. I will tell you of a politics that looks away from the plight of dying people. I will tell you of compromised lawmakers, chiefs and kings. I will tell you of the rich that have shut their ears because the harrowing cries of the raped interrupt them as they count their gold coins. I will tell you about angry Berom youths who avenged senselessly the senseless deaths they have witnessed. You could ask me why the media keeps quiet. I would tell you the rat dances to the tune of the piper.
You will see reason with me and then you will cry with me. You will agree with me that it is not just a war. It is genocide. And the spoils are beneath our feet. source www.africanfreepress.com/?p=6033 for rmore stories

The fulanis are very intelligent people. I know this so well. See how the writer of the article glossed over the previous damages done by the fulani herdsmen to say 'only ten men'. When a plan is to be drawn to tackle and cut them to size they will appear to be very peaceful. It was the same strategy that they used to take over hausaland. The whole fulani population all over the world is not up to the population of any of the three major ethnic groups but see the way the hold sway in the politics of Nigeria. If that is not intelligence I don't know what to call it. The grazing routes they are desperately in need which they can use to claim other peoples land in future is the major reason the are heightening their attacks now. Very brilliant strategy I must say. Already they have taken over the lands of many minorities in the middlebelt and are edging for some in southern Nigeria. If the Yorubas give them the space in the SW I have no right to complain but I know that my people will not just defend our lands. Let me stop here.

Am proud to hear another African guy, with African blood pumping in their veins. Man, am not nigerian but I kno if there is one country that can raise up,to lead and unite us under the BANTU banner, it's only Nigeria (they have the cultural authenticity to do it!) Africans they respect them, even UN has written article about the presence of nigerian soldiers in the African peace keeping missions and their ability to reconcile aggression amongst AFRICANS.

In my own travels, I observed areas where Africans lived alongside Nigerians, we kept our own unique African identity and culture and often were quite revered for being the symbol of flamboyance and swagger. But in areas where Africans lived in the absence of Nigerians, we were treated simply as peasants who were deprived of the most valuable asset in life, an IDENTITY.

So I grew to respect nigerians but I know amongst you there those who hate that state, well hate the southern people they think of themselves as beautiful wat not! They are these hausa LOOSERS u speak of, they realy look down at black people and look upto ARABS, it made me sick to be around such a disorientated AFRICAN man, how can u hate wat u are and love SUMTHING ur not! Because they are real black people U can trust.
I'm one of those who liked your post. You have a good idea of what's going on in Nigeria. I do know that help for the black race will come from Nigeria or a part of it. It beats my imagination how many black Muslims seem to worship Arabs and denigrate their own kind. They even kill their fellow negroe just at the behest of a white Muslim. Its quite saddening. Just keep tab on Nigeria as your help will be needed there in the future and in turn help will get to other parts of subSaharan Africa. Its going to be a big battle but eventually the black race will return to her enviable position and will no longer be subject to other races.

If she loves you she will jump out of her shell if she didn't then forget her. She has another asset somewhere. Its very difficult when its a lady you love so much with all your heart and coincidentally those are the ones that behave like this most time. The best way to treat them is to wean your heart of them. If they love they will prove it beyond your expectation if not move on, she.s not for you.

Truly a major part of Yorubaland is far infrastructurally primitive or underdeveloped. Pictures don't lie. However I know that Yorubas have the capacity to develop their lands if they only will use common sense. If they can play a politics of progression by supporting the build up of infrastructures in other regions then they can move forward too. Frustrating other southern regions and focussing everything in Lagos has really destroyed the prospects of southern Nigeria. Imaging a flourishing Calabar, PH, Sapele, Warri and Onitsha. Lagos will be Decongested and their will be hundreds of thousands of jobs created for everyone as no one will have this air of pride of saying we are hosting others because you too will be hosted by others. But alas we are here now. Let's go on with the stupid and selfish politics that will soon gets to its climax then the spark will hit the gunpowder and flames and smoke will be everywhere.
