Is the banking system the primary factor responsible for our current economic challenges? Can a mere adjustment in monetary policies be enough to reverse our fortunes this time?
Clearly not. A major pain point is food. If the ongoing fg-spearheaded dry season farming is anything to go bye coupled with the first release of product from the refineries, those inflation figures drops in about 6months.

Governor Cardoso's policies are aimed at addressing the economic challenges of rising inflation and a weakening currency
From the bold, its safe to say that they're not done with mopping of cash. Improving TBs and bond rates will only attract more investors away from the NSE(but at what scale?).

With the proposed recapitalisation, it's safe to assume that FUGAZ are considering possible takeovers, while others are to consider merging. Identifying such candidates will be profitable.

Seplat has 500million shares with less than half on free float.
Same variables with Oando, but with 12billion. So, it won't be strange seeing it at 3-400h based on +ve fundamentals. The days of tank farms are over(low profit margin), ask Otedola.

Did you consider the outstanding shares of MRS,
Oh that. Mirroring the OS with Seplat- Oando's only rival(on NSE) in the sector which is firing on the back of the establishment of a gas holding facility in Delta state, I would say either by shares reconstruction or organic growth, MRS will still be dwarfed by it( if they remain).
Long term minority shareholders should sheath(which can be hard) their sword and accept that Oando is ready for business.

Alhaji Dahiru Mangal: Wale(sitting comfy) has left the fate of Oando on NSE to its shareholders.

My point is, MRS should not be topping Oando grin

It is possible that the bond market may see 18% interest again. If that happens (or if I see it coming), I am bailing out. Hypothetically, if your bond can give you close to 1 million monthly from the same investments you have in stocks, which give a marginal fraction of that, some people will choose bonds for the time being. My point is that an 18% coupon would be disastrous for most stocks. shocked
Exactly. With the constant tightening of money supply and the clamour for investors, who says we can't see a possible rise in bond rates?

Looking at ETI Q2 the translation factor used for USD to Naira is N756 per $1.
It is safe to assume 750 or 756 or thereabouts is the rate all the banks used for their forex gains and about what the CBN wishes or projects or targets shocked
Otherwise there will be instability in bank reports. cool
Well, financial appropriateness(intellectual propaganda) of some sorts.

The Securitization and the expected 2m bbl to Dangote refinery(though not at full capacity) has painted the gov't actionable.

Let's see how fx pressure relaxes on fuel import and the resultant fx market effect.

Geregu positives gives me a Transcorp positive. Although, I still hold some thought to a possible divestment of the power arm of Transcorp. In all, have remarkably sufficient holdings as permissible.

Market was calm today. Surprised numbers on Seplat of late- improved production?

NGX RULES ON DE-LISTING OF SHARES, AND HOW IT AFFECTS OANDO

3. the company (Oando) would apply to the court for necessary legal requirements for delisting its shares
4. the company would organize a Court-ordered Meeting of shareholders (AGM/EGM) to approve or reject the Scheme,
Stuck on 3. The decider is 4.
Looking at how oando has gone from downstream to upstream sector(vis-a-vis an ENERGY COMPANY), I personally don't think it makes sense going forward with any buyout option for these shareholders(if they're indeed genuine with all that has been said about "Walenomics" ) grin

To think that the Israeli's military budget for last year is 23b USD- that's like 2x Nigeria's national budget. Large population, zero productivity! Na wa oh!

The bible says "children are like arrows in the hands of a mighty man". Indeed Nigeria is fathered by fools.
