Ask SSANU, NASU, PENGASSAN etc who are protesting to be out. The system is a mess and does not take into cognizant, some allowances like sabbatical that are unique to the university system. Nothing that our government wants to do that they will do it right. I side with ASUU on this, let them be on strike for as long as our government is ready to improve public education system. Mind you, the strike was started due to a series of breach of MoU signed between ASUU and FG. IPPIS is just adding salt to injury

ASUU is about the only Union that cannot be intimidated by government. Irrespective of protests ASUU will not resume. At last FG will still bend to their demands, most especially as the IPPIS is already a mess

200k isn't a well paid job, some people are having salary as much as 350k 400k, now you are paid 200k and your boss insult you, that is harassment, harassment is the personal insult and expression of disgust or intolerance towards certain people or person or race and this is punishable offense according to the labour law in nigeria, if you continue to keep that 200k job with insult, your boss will continue to issue you query and that you are incompetent in the discharge of your duty which might eventually lead to sack, so report any harassment at work place to the HR and make sure you have evidence to support your claims

Always think about all sides of life. What about people earning 30k, 50k,70k and all sorts, yet you said 200k was not a well paid job. Bro, endure till you get a better one. If a friend disappoints you once, you would know the essence of earning as little as possible compared to begging.

Exactly my point, that is why the use of fat salary in ops post is relative. For someone who gets 10ka month, 200k is a very fat salary. Some people earn 5m but others still look at it as very poor salary. So it is all relative

well, people earn more than that in a month as salary, depending on the organization and level attained. That is not to disregard 200k a month anyway, it is still relatively fat .

FG is not being sincere at all. its not like I'm supporting ASUU but FG should look for a way to settle this issue.
Since ASUU has proposed an alternative, why not look at it and come up with a conclusion on what to do.

ASUU should look for other means to hold FG by the balls rather than using this 1970 old trick. These incessant strike is really Killing what they claim they are fighting for(education). Education in nigeria is not really attractive anymore due to these strike here and there.

Students on the other hand should look for what to do rather than waste away at home.
Look for a job even if its 5k(just to keep body and soul together), Learn a skill(this one will require money but if you have the money start now) or if your course has an IT attached to it look for one and intern there. Just engage yourself in something productive.
Anytime ASUU and FG decide to call it a truce you will be glad you didn't waste all your time doing nothing.

To be candid, ASUU went on strike before IPPIS issue came up. The strike was due to signed agreements which the government failed to implement, autonomy was the main issue in the agreement. I will expressly support ASUU on this. FG is too insincere with our education, no funding resulting to poverty of everything in the system.

Police killing peaceful EndSars protest; Arresting Revolution protesters; And highest paid idle legislators now intimidating and stopping salaries of Meagerly paid lecturers who are the lowest paid in the world.

When I was a student, I didn’t realize what ASUU was fighting for because I wanted to graduate on time. Today, nothing has changed neither improved from the same institutions that fought in the past. NLC and others chickened out but this is the only institution that fights to the last

The little evident improvement, if any, is the fight and struggles of heroes past. There has never been a time when students fight Government for better education in this country because we all want to graduate on time which I always wished for too at that time. Now our kith and kins are suffering the same fate.

Students being in an overcrowded classrooms
No infrastructural developements
Decaying educational standards
Some private school teachers earn more than PhD holders.
Politicians earning fat with little contribution to the economy.
Rickety and old fashioned libraries that can’t match up some African standard let alone international standard.


Put ASUU to shame- since that’s what we want from a propaganda lord. Salaries has been stopped for some from March while some from June.

How will you be negotiating better education for over 20 years in a country earning fat from oil?

You made a lot of sense in your comment. FG should stop grandstanding, man up and make our universities a better learning place. ASUU is never the problem, under funding is. It is a pity interacting with many public University graduates, especially in recent years. The standard is going down daily and it is saddening. ASUU is the scapegoat now, that same system is already full of ghost workers if you audit it properly.

I am not a lecturer anyway. But an employee is neither a slave to an employer as well. You cannot just be taking anything thrown at you because you are an employee. Again, no where in a sane country is the education system so poorly funded by government. There were talks of University autonomy since many years ago but nothing has happened.
Additionally, why must the system have "teething" problems and not take off smoothly? Are we cursed not to do something quality right first time? Like I said students will only continue to suffer for no just cause which unfair on government part especially

The thing is, even those who embraced it are agitating to be taken out. NASU and SSANU have declared two weeks warning strike already. The system like any other thing in Nigeria is already corrupt with ghost workers. Students will only be the victim of all of this

The Borno state governor announced a donation of N20m to the family. While that isn't wrong, but how about the other low ranking ordinary soldiers who have died in the same crisis? Those whose meager salaries and benefits wasn't even anything compared to that of the Colonel.

That is the way life is generally. You may consider it unfair but sadly, that is what it is. People can never be treated the same. There are different statuses and classes in the society and we have put up with it

majorly, the PDP platform in Lagos in too shaky. In short, the politics dynamics of Lagos and Edo are too far apart to compare Ambode and Obasaki situations. APC as a party are well aware of what Lagos brings to the table and Kano as well, same as Rivers for PDP. So Ambode did not just have any way around it, once the party decision was against him.

This is where I feel all the people calling Ambode a coward get it totally wrong or are simply sentimental or hypocritic. AAmbode did not give up without a fight as you wrongly assumed. He contested the primaries of his party with Sanwo-Olu and lost base on majority votes. The only thing he didn't do was to decamp to another party, however he chose to stay in his party and support the winner. Is that what you call cowardice? He believed his party to be ideal to lead his state(your ideology theory), so what is wrong with that? If he had not contested the primaries at all, it would be a different case, even at that, is it a must to do 8 years? If this is cowardice, then all the politicians in the world who lost primaries and stay with their parties are cowards then. We have to learn to respect people's decisions and choices.

This accident happened this morning at Arena Gate Oshodi. Two vehicles were involved in the accident alongside a fast moving train. The first vehicle was a Toyota SUV with two occupants; a father and his son. The father died on the spot when the fast moving train lifted his vehicle and threw it into a gutter whereas the son is still in comma in a hospital around Oshodi. The second Hummer Bus was empty as all the occupants were able to run out of the bus before the fast moving train rammed into the vehicle and dragged it from Arena Gate to the Oshodi bus terminal.
The man that lost his life in the SUV was not so lucky as he could not remove his seat belt so fast before the accident struck. As at 7:20am this morning when I got to the place, his car was still inside the gutter beside the rail track with splashes of blood all over the seat.
I pray his second son currently in comma makes it alive
* The Management of Arena Market Oshodi should investigate this matter as the 2nd gate was still locked when the train was approaching. On sighting the Train approaching, people were beckoning on the security to open the gates to allow the vehicles access to the complex but they were adamant and refused to open the gate until the tragedy struck.

Thanks for this details. It is so unfortunate that people disregard their personal safety in an unbelievable way. The people who were comfortable parking their vehicles on an active rail line should take the blame squarely. Under no circumstances should one drive and be stationary on a rail line. I usually make sure the car on the other side of the rail in front of me has given enough space before I dream of driving across. This was totally avoidable

This looks like an accident without seat belt on. Mostly our force personnel look at wearing seat belt as a civilian thing, not minding it is for their personal safety
