SpecialAdviser:
I agree. Problem is that the north is seriously pushing for OUK. In fact, it will shock many people.
Study Obasanjo and Aguiyi-Ironsi’s tenure very closely and it should soon be clear to you the exacting price Kalu stands to pay in the unlikely event that he becomes President with the backing of the North! He would be required to give an arm and a leg!! Obasanjo is presently not worth a penny in the SW public space and the history books give a fair idea how Aguiyi-Ironsi is generally perceived in the SE. He could be planning to outsmart the North once he is sworn in as the President but that would be a gross miscalculation of the ability of the North to infiltrate and control his administration. The North is versatile in Public Administration and is one reason they handle and keep power better than the South. Better for all to seek a restructuring of Nigeria along regional lines with a weak centre. In the long run that is better.

Kalu won’t be President. You can take that to the bank!
1. When he was Abia Governor what has he to point to as his achievements that eminently qualifies him for the Presidency?
2. The bridges he built over the years across the Niger have not brought the SE good but ridicule.
3. He thinks he does not need the SW.
4. He is clearly laden with corruption.
5. The Nigerian electorate is getting wiser by the day to appreciate the foregoing and more that will impact on his chances in the negative.

Amazing that in all of these what is visible to Ezeife vandalism his co-travellers is an Igbo Presidency! Quite sad!! The more reason it will be a pipe-dream. Desperation borne out of inordinate ambition to be usually breeds contempt for the desperate!!! Well, it’s his right to say, do and go where he wishes.

No basis exists as we speak for such trust until the restructuring of the nation is had along regional lines via the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria with a weak centre and part-time legislators who earn nothing but sitting allowances and accommodation payable by FG and transport by the Regional Government when they meet three times a year. That is the way to go. Cattle nomads who love that life can continue that way while those who can’t do without eating but are too lazy to ranch cattle will be content to pay through the nose to buy them from the cattle nomads up North.
Politics › Mandela To Nigerian Leaders. by zoedew(op): 5:18am On Oct 05, 2020
What Nelson Mandela said to Nigerians in 2007
“You know I am not very happy with Nigeria. I have made that very clear on many occasions. Yes, Nigeria stood by us more than any nation, but you let yourselves down, and Africa and the black race very badly. Your leaders have no respect for their people. They believe that their personal interests are the interests of the people. They take people’s resources and turn it into personal wealth. There is a level of poverty in Nigeria that should be unacceptable. I cannot understand why Nigerians are not more angry than they are.
“What do young Nigerians think about your leaders and their country and Africa? Do you teach them history...?
“What about the corruption and the crimes? Your elections are like wars. Now we hear that you cannot be president in Nigeria unless you are Muslim or Christian. Some people tell me your country may break up. Please don’t let it happen.
“Let me tell you what I think you need to do. You should encourage leaders to emerge who will not confuse public office with sources of making personal wealth. Corrupt people do not make good leaders. Then you have to spend a lot of your resources for education.
“Educate children of the poor, so that they can get out of poverty. Poverty does not breed confidence. Only confident people can bring changes. Poor, uneducated people can also bring change, but it will be hijacked by the educated and the wealthy...give young Nigerians good education. Teach them the value of hard work and sacrifice, and discourage them from crimes which are destroying your image as a good people.”
(Excerpts taken from a 2007 interview with Mandela conducted by Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed).

Finally here comes the real deal. The simplest solution to our situation! Restructure into 6 geopolitical regional structures with a weak centre to co-ordinate defence, external affairs, CBN/Currency and maybe tax. Nigeria will be set to fly. It addresses all the concerns that has made Nigeria as presently constituted a hellish experience for Nigerians!

dermmy:
Well, Iran has repeatedly said it does not want war but would retaliate should the bully/aggressor attack them and i think they gave America a proportionate response in the January 8 attack by hurling missiles at U.S military bases in Iraq.

They passed a clear message letting the U.S know that they won't allow any attack go without a response. If Iran didn't do that America would have done worse after the killing of Soleimani.

Do you know what it means to attack a U.S military base injuring over 100 troops and all president Trump could do was bark and bark on twitter even after he had promised the Iranians hell and brimstone should they retaliate the killing of that General.

If U.S had taken a step further to escalate the incident after Iran retaliated, Iran too would have responded in kind. Confront a bully then that bully would think twice before messing with you next time.
One thing I ask that you imagine is what the world would be like were Iran in the place of USA as a world power! For one thing Nairaland that offers you the fulfilling opportunity to express your opinion and freely too won’t exist. It will exist at gross risk to its owner and users! “Brutal” is the word!!
