justwise: School accommodation is a no-go-area only if you are swimming in cash, its expensive and restrictive but socially beneficiary especially for new students.VERY, VERY,VERY correct! Be sure to also clarify the length of the contract. I almost made the mistake of signing a 42 week contract instead of a 51 week contract yesterday. |
justwise: Within weeks you will know how expensive that is Needed time to inspect some properties before making financial commitments. I know it's expensive but being a very private person; there are certain types of people i would rather not live with. I should sort myself out by tomorrow cos i have viewed quite a couple.spikes C: Don't mind my curiosity, but the bold is rather convicting each otherI flew Emirates from Nigeria and had a stop over at Dubai... i sat beside 2 Dubai nationals on the connecting flight from Dubai to London. Both are headed to University of Leeds. They had decided to stop over in London for sight seeing before continuing their journey to school on Monday and had booked hotel accommodation in London for 3 nights. These kids were deliberating on either buying a car in London and driving down to Leeds or buying it over there in Leeds....but guess what; it's father of one of them that's sponsoring everything.... Their respect for me actually grew when i told them i was self sponsored. So tell me; is it not good fortune for the student who has a rich friend?..... |
I think this thread has been derailed a little. I'll try to bring it back on course. I got into the UK yesterday and i headed straight to school. BTW my school is about 1 hour away from London. I didn't pay for school accommodation so I'm presently staying in a hotel (hoping to sort out accommodation on Monday). It's setting me back 45 PPD but; it's kindda worth it. i commenced registration today...i have only met 3 Nigerians. 1 of whom is a Phd student. She's prolly less than 27 years. (Omo...i shame for myself when she tell me..) I can see loads of Britons, some Europeans, and couple of Indians and Chinese. Trying to understand their accent though; they speak very fast. Tips; If you can afford it; pay for accommodation on campus.........In the long run; it's more convenient. Make friends with; Arabs, Europeans, Asian and African.....In that order.....(A friend from Abu Dhabi can change your fortune with a phone call to his father) Don't carry too much luggage...You'll have more varieties here... Bring a sweater and as much cash as you can; it's getting cold. Open a dorm account. If you have an unlocked iphone; Bring it along...There are invaluable apps here. Bring Gala and Lacasera or Viju..Their snacks na die for here!! Will update later.... |
miz Gene: Hey bro, sorry am jst replying,You could check out University of Bradford...their business school is highly rated and they also give scholarships |
Have you submitted your own application? and why do people have to call you to get the form? is it for sale? Your Father!!! You join NL 42 Minutes ago and you wan scam us!! Your left n'yarsh!! |
@ OP; Follow your mind.... People keep making silly comparisons. My brother went and came back and got a better paying job, my sister went and suffered, my brother is still suffering, bla-bla-bla... Before people comment, remember; the OP is NOT your brother that failed or was successful. If the reason behind your traveling to the US to further your education is genuinely to acquire more knowledge, and you have the funds, then by all means go! If you were able to land a good job and retain it with a Bsc, i don't see why an MSc will be any different!! |
I presently use the P12. Forget all that crap that your mechanic is spewing. The Primera is a horse! Just do your routine maintaince and you'll enjoy your car. Honestly; i don't think my last car (Honda EOD) would have survived the kindda flogging that i put this cute animal to. Despite all the punishment; she still performs! I'm luving my Primera!!! |
Hi Justwise; If Naira equivalent for the balance of my tuition and living expenses is; N 3.6m (which is already in my account) and i withdraw N 500k after my after my Visa application. Will it in anyway affect my chances in getting a visa? i am at crossroads to either sell pounds which i bought for N 254 and buy later at a much more expensive rate or; withdraw the money from my account. Your opinion please? |
My parents stay at Ejigbo... i have not been there to see them for a while because that road is a death trap. I once spent 2 hours just from NNPC to Iyana Ejigbo when it rained. The road is a death trap and needs immediate attention. All this Fashola is performing crap should be put aside and the issue; trashed! |
This car is beautiful... Happy sales OP |
My present girlfriend didn't "ask me out". She just gave subtle signs that she likes me. I took it up from there and sincerely; it's been the best time of my life. Ladies; the notion that the guy has to make the first move is archaic. If you don't make the move, someone else will. I don't disrespect my girl cos she made the 1st move. On the other hand, I respect her a lot. |
4teelaw: answer to your question:Invested with these chaps a few months ago. the returns were quite scary. Had to pull out principal and intrest a few weeks ago to cash in on an oil deal. Will be investing again in a few days time. And I suspect this^^^^ is my account officer T here ![]() |
justwise: I thought i have answered these questions from you before?NOOO....Oga Justwise i'm posting on this thread for the very 1st time. Don Oms: 1) State in the appropriate section of your application form that you were once refused a Visa. It won't affect you negatively for the reason of your refusal.I had up to 15 working days from the date of my application. However, public holidays were declared after my application. Therefore the number of working days were reduced by 2. |
Gd evening to all the gurus in the house; I'll be applying for a tier 4 visa by 6th of this month. However;I have 4 quick questions that i really need answers to; 1.) I was refused a student visa to the UK in January cos i submitted my application late; (I was scored Zero for CAS because my visa application date was rather late and my CAS was termed "invalid" ) Would my visa refusal in January affect this application and do i need to attach the refusal page? 2.) My e-passport will be expiring in February 2014. Can a visa be denied because a passport will be expiring 6 months from date of visa issuance? 3.) i mistakenly withdrew 500k from my account within the 28 days required but immediately returned it in less than an hour as soon as i noticed. Do i need to start counting the 28days all over again? Justwise & co.; please help with answers. Thanks |
@OP Your reasons don't weigh up to a grain of sand!!! Finance over Economics ? Pluuueeeeezzeeee!!! |
yuzedo: You people need to chill abeg! Diamond Bank engages in regular recruitment especially of entry-level staff. Career progression is in pyramid shape, not everyone can/will reach the top. If an institution establishes redundancy in identified staff, don't they have the right to terminate appointment? A business is established TO MAKE PROFITS, this isn't the goddamn civil service abeg, lets be objective.Coming from you; i'm impressed. |
lomomike: sorry about your recent experience with your primera, I don't know much about primera But let's get things straight here. Since you forded water with it at the turn of a steering, there is a wheezing noise. Does the steering feel hard, can you zero in on where the noise comes from (whether its from the power steering pump, the belt, or from the wheel area, or the steering rack and pinion (that's if your car uses rack and pinion))?Yea... The steering does feel hard. I'm sorry; I really don't know what a rack and pinion is and I am yet to actually identify where the noise is coming from... Costee: What do you mean by "the language on the screen"? Are you referring to the info display screen? Should that be the case, then your car is P12, and not P11. I want to believe too that if it is P12 it will have a feature in the menu for conversion into English language. Since you attribute the issues you're having to the wheels/steering, it just could be that the problem is mechanical. [Check the steering rack for example.] If electrical the MIL (check engine light) should be on. (You should be able to identify that icon). Better still, have the car scanned nonetheless.[quote author=Costee]Yes... Its the info display screen. I can only see options in French and Dutch. No English option. The check engine light is off. Maybe I should just get the car scanned. |
Hello house, I presently use a P11 primera and in all honesty it's been fun since i got it late last year. However, since the rains started, i have had cause to drive through flood and since then there's this wheezing sound each time i turn the steering. ![]() Anyone with suggestions on what could be the cause? And possibly; the solution. The language on the screen is in french and german.....dunno how to convert it to english (the car was brought in from Germany) Answers....anyone? |
I have only one question; will the bond yield interest/dividends? If no: Then how can they justify holding 3,000 pounds for that period of time? Them they mad!!! |
The first night we spent together she said; Babes I forgot to tell u; I'm bleeding... Na hin I remind am; but it's not up to two weeks ago u took money from my wallet which u said u were going to use to buy sanitary towels ![]() As a sharp babe she quickly counter; oh those....? Those were for my roommate... Na hin I laugh.... The same roommate wey u tell me say una dey keep malice abi... Me; if I sound you!!!....c'mon come tender the kpomo joor!!! |

Please whats d exchange rate for GBP today. I need to buy £ 5,000 asap |
Buying a car don't mean jack!!!. When the organisation i work for forced me to buy a brand new car in 2010; i had barely 30k left as take home after monthly deductions.....and peeps were busy hailing me.....me wey not fit even afford to drink beer that period. When i offset the loan, i disposed the car immediately. Whas the point in having a brand new car and not being able to buy more than 2k fuel at once. ![]() |
I never believed in GTB and all their silly media hype. The problem with the bank is not the new MD or the management team..... It's with the structure; there is simply no structure! It's unfortunate what has happened. I keep telling bank staff that I come across daily: plan your exit. Start everyday like it will be your last, network all you can especially through your customers and ultimately; pray for God's wisdom. Remember; that bank job is just a stepping stone. Never get comfortable in it.. My 2 kobo. |
Hallo House; Any prospective post-grad student going to University of Surrey or University of Kent? Though both uni's are close to central London; i hear there's not much social life in Canterbury and Guildford... anyone with ideas or opinions? |
This is definitely an American Spec. When our own Naija spec is available; they i'll have a definite view. This looks like a miss to me sha |
My 1st car was forced on me at age 27 by the organisation i work for. It was a brand new Toyota Corrolla. It was like a forced loan and the repayment terms were not pocket friendly; i was almost starving to repay the loan. Eighteen months later; i liquidated the loan and sold the car. Bought a 2003 Honda Accord for 1.5M; Beautiful car. Sold it to buy an 08 Nissan Primera for 2M.(Subsidy removal forced me to do to do this. That Accord dey consume fuel like jeep) |
There's this light skinned lady in my office (the of light skin that makes you want to throw up). She came into in the office one morning looking like a witch. She always looks hideous but that morning she look particularly ugly!!! Na so she borrow Mary Kay run enter rest room oh. In about 15mins time she came out of the ladies looking transformed. I mean one could actually be tempted to look at her twice; Omo!! thank God for Mary Kay oh! What happened that day in the ladies was a big miracle....as soon as she came out from the ladies; the crested horse on my original polo shirt bolted in fear!!! Dats all!! ![]() |
eledalo: Which kind of dunce is this. If you know the answer to the question say it, if not then shut up and stop derailing the thread. Haba! Please who are you? and who is a dunce? You have any idea who you insulted?....I think this is the biggest internet risk of all times; babies having access to computers with bandwidth!!! Go suckle kid; or play with your toes!!! Dammit!!! ![]() |
orgasticdance: Yes, all very well. The average nairalander knows this and is probably going to do well for himself. She'll become a treasurer in one of the new foreign owned banks or learn how to make thai sea food and come back home to set up shop. You and your fortunate family will do well. But is society as a whole currently being equipped with this knowledge of self reliance? Our educational system is worse than it was in 99!; the culture of corruption is still rife; structural problemns have been largely unadressed for more than two decades. Change won't happen in one day i agree, but when we see a sincerety of purpose and will in this administration's bid to create a fair and equitable society then we would give them their due.If the foreign investors saw all these structural problems and still decided to come down to Nigeria and invest... does it not mean that they have seen something good beyond all these challenges? Corruption did not start yesterday, so it cannot end today...it's got to be gradual. The best way to stop a bad habit; is to start a good one; and this (FDI) is a sure good way to grow our economy. I'll give you and anybody else who cares to listen one good piece of advice; "Live like nobody owes you anything!" forget about the govt and do all that is (legitimately) within your powers. the govt was bad when some rich people made their money legally here in Nigeria; the govt may be bad whilst i'm making my money...but i will make this money; and legally too!! After all; Na one head Pascal Dozie get..and na one head wey i get; i no fit dey tell my pickins dem say govt no good na hin make me no hammer |
