shortgun:They buy that because it is what they can afford. Not like they necessarily like the compactness. Give them an e class and they won't even hesitate. |
mejai:It won't. As long as your foot is off the accelerator, the lower gear will reduce the speed of the vehicle. |
They are illegal. Strobe lights are for emergency or security vehicles and not regular civilian vehicles. Our NPF are just useless. |
lateefat101:Are you legalwealth?
|
conductor250:Therein lies the problem with the German horde. The cars they rave about are no within their reach. They have never been in them talk less of driving them. Yet they come here and make outlandish claims. It is mandatory to have those warnings on the flipper visors of any SUV, cuv, and some hatchbacks. Failure to do that means you will be sued by the driver in the event of a rollover as he wasn't informed of such risk. I do not think Mercedes has the money to pay for thousands of rollover incidents involving their cars. Rollover is determined by CG. With a higher CG, you have a higher rollover risk. The GL's have a higher rollover risk than even a Nissan Micra. |
Smartchoiice:To educate you. We hope you learn some day. "Legalwealth"eventually learnt. ![]() |
Smartchoiice:Even Mercedes Benz cars are cut in half and welded in Nigeria. One such case was eve uploaded here on Nairaland. You really don't know what goes on in Ladipo. If you do,.... |
shortgun:Yeah. Benz doesn't roll over. See pictures above. ![]() |
peacefull:Don't mind that confusionist. The same thing. Made with parts from Japan. Admittedly, some of the vehicles are imported in parts (sometimes cut into two halves and welded back here in Nigeria). However, these are few (usually found in mostly second hand interstate transport buses). Ironically, this very small sample of the numerous Asian made vehicles in Nigeria account for majority of the accidents on the roads as result of drivers carelessness and terrible roads. Are you related to the Nigeria "Jenifa" because your English is surely related to her. . Just kidding. |
thebigkendo:Nurey, abeg come ban this guy. ![]() German shi..... Warriors, make una no vex. We respect the sanctity of your thread. We only ask that you respect the makers of the best selling automobiles. As long as you beat your chests and don't drag "our" names in the mud, you will be fine. But anytime you do, "we" will be here to fact check you (0-60) style. Cyberpeace. |
Blakjewelry:We don't throw eggs in Nigeria. It's too expensive. We throw pure water. ![]() |

Iogobenz:No deal. Quicker or faster means same thing. If it's quicker, it's faster. You guys don't seem to get it. Our gripe with the Benz fans is not that your cars are not good. I don't mind the saying "the best or nothing". But when you turn around and make ridiculous claims, (calling japs shitboxes, or making other outlandish claims about their safety or features), we will come out and defend "our" own. Drive other brands and you will realise that there are more to cars than "branding". |
HeavenlyBang:Hey, where did the G35x go? To the moon?
|
Smartchoiice:Princess Diana died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash in an e class. If you crash at high speeds, your chances of survival are very low. It doesn't matter if you crash in a Benz or BMW or a Toyota. Granted, different car models have different crash ratings. These crash ratings determine the likelihood of surviving a crash. Toyota and other Japanese brands score highly in these tests and some Japanese models surpass some German model crash ratings. The Toyota hiace we use in Nigeria for mass transport is banned in America as a transport vehicle because it doesn't meet the safety ratings required to perform such duties. Of course, the survival rate will be low for users in Nigeria where the government has allowed the vehicle to be used for mass transport. Stand by the road today at close of business and conduct a statistical check for just ten minutes. For every German car that drives by, 10 Japanese cars would have driven past you. It is not rocket science then that more Japanese cars will be involved in accidents than German cars. It's simple statistics. If it's not that simple to some people, then they need help. ![]() Every car can crash and you can die in any car. Even Volvo that is at the forefront in passenger safety crashes and people still die in it. |
rationalmind:Beer parlour gist will never allow them accept reality. Same reason someone asked if a Benz doing 100km/hr is same as a corolla doing 100km/hr or will arrive at a destination at the same time. I just tire. Well, it is what it is. My fathers farm is the biggest. ![]() |
Iogobenz:They don't. You have either been riding in badly maintained Camry's or racing against same. I used to drive a big for nothing. Did 185km/hr in that big thing. It wasn't all over the road and definitely wasn't bouncing around. Now this Camry has a higher ground clearance and softer suspension than the muscle that replaced it. It was even a 4 cylinder. ![]() Used to have the picture. So I don't know the Camry's you've been racing against, but they sure aren't bouncy. Yeah, they won't corner well as the Mercedes c230 but 0-60, ah well. You know. ![]() |
Iogobenz:Doesn't change anything. You mentioned bounce as if it was going to fly out of the road. Don't shift goal post. The suspension and steering tune is to provide a soft feed back to the user. It wasn't designed to feel heavy and harsh. It's not a sports car. Again, most sedans in the same class with same engine size weigh almost the same except those with AWD. The AWD adds additional weight. You need to upgrade that your Benz. 160km/hr in town is crazy oo. U be my pal oo. |
Iogobenz:Weighs same as your c230. And if you think weight equals balance, then you have a lot to learn about cars. The F1 cars that do 360km easy don't even weigh as much as the engine and tranny of that v6 Camry. |
toluxa1:For the mdx, didn't do nada. MPG and drive feel remained the same. For the cerrato, noticeable improvement. Ticking at idle is gone and mpg has improved from 17l/100km to 14l/100km. Same distance and route driven. |
radautoworks:If I may ask, what car did you crash in? Never been in a crash. Wouldn't ever want to be in one. I have a very vivid imagination and can picture a thousand and one outcomes from different actions. Some of the outcomes, kills any urge for race these days.
|
rationalmind: ![]() You are wicked. |
frozen70:No peace to embrace. I will comment. Are you comparing the fuel economy of the Lexus es 330 to that of a corolla? On what basis are you saying the Lexus consumes fuel? The OP listed luxurious cars as his preference. Luxury comes at a price. He hasn't mentioned fuel economy as a criteria. Buy your Lexus and enjoy it OP. However, do not expect the economy of a corolla. The Lexus can give you 16-18mpg easy with city driving and more with highway driving. Those figures I quoted are real world figures I have experienced. There are risks with buying abroad. You could buy a car with a defective transmission or engine and the importer may not even know. Vin Check may not even tell you this as owner is selling and the garage hasn't reported it. You could have your car damaged at the port by these useless port drivers. They may even tow with your car. If your importer can physically inspect the vehicles for you before importing, then you are good on some risks. If you don't want any of the above risks, buy from any dealer or car lot in naija here and go with a literate mechanic and a good friend. 6 eyes are better than 2. |
Iogobenz:Alignment won't make your steering shake at speeds. It has to be a suspension part, an out of round tyre or rim. It could also arise from a bad engine or transmission mount or a bad cv joint (which your mechanic doesn't have) |
Wow. Didn't know it had gotten to this level. Okay oo. Fentanyl, don't bother. It's never going to change or sway what people already know. |
HeavenlyBang:Looks nice and properly done. Always loved that colour. |
AmuDimpka:
|
AmuDimpka:Being a valuable global brand is a far cry from being a reliable brand. Man united is a better global brand than Barcelona, them no be mates for pitch. You guys attract the trolls with your chest beating. Benz is nice no doubt but..... Fentanyl, abeg sheath your sword. |
slowice:. |
Saao:Now that throws your 300k quote for repairs out of the window. Don't start what you cannot finish. Go with a competent mechanic to inspect that car. You have been asked to contact Gazzuzz. He will let you know how much you may need to bring the car back up to speed. He knows the part prices as well. That 08 Camry is his bread and butter. ![]() |
nurey:I've stopped advising people on things like this. If they like, they can pour groundnut oil down the oil hole. Seems this motor parts business will be a good business to venture into. Let me squeeze that into vision 2020. |
