That's correct. That's why European cars are often viewed as problematic lot.
I watched a program where a,jaguar built in the 70s had more electronic gizmo than the average Toyotas of the 2000.
I quite understand your point though
And there was a reason for that. The jag was luxury. Meant for a select few. Probably only sold 5,000 pieces if it ever did get to such heady numbers.

The Toyoda was for the masses who needed to get from point a to b without robbing the bank. It wasn't luxury and didn't need to have all the gizmo. It sold more than the jag.

Now tell me which of the two companies are more profitable. The jag or the Toyoda?

Let's not go this silly route on this thread. Just state your first car and move on.

Mine bought was a Camry big for nothing. Bought Nigerian used. Whatever problems it had was caused by me as I fiddled with it a lot. cheesy
Learnt a lot about cars through it.
First car I drove was a beetle. Sweet little ride. Lost the brakes once on me but I survived. Car survived too. Guess the low bhp saved the day.
Regular car driven in my teens was an Opel rekord. Nightmare of a car. Served it's purpose. If I was paying for the maintenance, I'd be in the village by now. cheesy

Let me lay put the possibilities to you.
What if it was truly God that blessed you, i mean the child being ur to prove he is God.

[s]What if god let ur spouse get pregnanted by another man knowing the embarrasment that being childless will bring you in the future.[/s] So if this ascertion is true, then i think telling her your truth and she telling you her truth will make a better foundation for your future marriage.

Now if you dont tell her the truth now, and you go and make her tell whatever u think is going on, then ur marriage has ended before it started. And you will be heading to hell as well for covering up yours.

Truth is, we are the ones that make life difficult for ourselves. There are so many sterile men out there with families, there hv an agreement with their wife to get pregnant outside n bring it home. So you see?

Just search urself and do what Jesus would have done. Peace

Car TalkRe: Thegiftedone And Injector Harness Modifications by 9icetoo(m): 3:33pm On Feb 06, 2020
I do not claim to know how the injectors work but my lay man understanding is this.
Pressure is fixed. Volume injected is dependent on the length of time the injector stays open which is determined by the ecu . The ecu monitors the efficiency of its actions by monitoring the air flow meter reading, the air fuel ratio meter readings while factoring in other variables like temperature, load, etc.
Does the injector have levels of opening like on a scale of 1-10 governed by the ecu? Cos I would like to think this is the only way a resistor can affect the volume of fuel injected by limiting the voltage flowing to the injector causing it not to open fully and reducing the quantity of fuel injected.

To the best of my knowledge (my knowledge which may not be correct), the injector is a on or off device. It's either open or close. It doesn't have levels of opening like say a flow control valve.

If that is true, then I struggle to understand how a resistor is going to achieve the fuel saving being discussed.

Following.

I'd like to see a picture of the setup by the way.

I will definitely not allow it. Come with your scanner.
A scanner won't tell you everything.

Test driving should be within limits.
Speeding is totally different from reckless driving.

To fully test a car, you need to get up to speeds of 80km/hr to go through all the gears.

There will be need to accelerate quickly to confirm the gears. And also accelerate slowly to confirm same gears. Some cars slam into gear when driven slowly whilst the same error will be masked when accelerated quickly.

It's good you stood your ground with the reckless would be buyer.

I'll try to keep my predicament short. I registered a new account for this purpose but I'm sure many of you will understand that sterility is not something to be announced which is exactly how I got myself in this situation. I am 35 and engaged to a beautiful woman who completes me in every way. As much as it hurts me to say this, I have not been totally honest with her about everything.
Just yesterday while we were home together, she told me that she is pregnant . I asked her how sure she is, she said she had done the pee test and that she knows how she is feeling. The issue here is that I am sterile but I have not told her this before so it is impossible that I am responsible.

Please before anyone tells me I deserve this for not opening up to her, I have been undergoing treatment secretly and they say I will be able to father children when it's done so of course, I am hopeful and have not bothered to inform her about any of this. I can't stand losing her for any reason. My issue right now is that I asked my endocrinologist this morning if it's possible that the treatment is already working and he said we have not gone far enough to see any results yet. This means I am definitely not the father of the child she is carrying.

Only one other person in this world knows about my health challenge and that is my cousin. I told him and he told me to break up with my fiancée, someone I have already done introduction with and families are involved. I told him I cannot and that he must take the secret to the grave, he thinks I am making the biggest mistake of my life.
Well I told him my plan is to accept the pregnancy and continue to make her think I don't know she cheated on me. I am doing this with the hope that after we get married, my treatment will be completed and everything will be back to normal. But at the same time, I still can't shake the feeling that I am about to marry someone who cheated and is passing off another man's child as mine, I feel cheated and it hurts.

Can anyone else please tell me what to do about this situation I have found myself? Please I just need to hear from other people besides my cousin. Another thing, he has never really liked my fiancée so I feel that also may be his motivation.
I need neutral opinions please
You are the bigger cheat here.
You are starting a marriage on a foundation built on a lie. It doesn't usually end well.
Tell her the truth. If she insists the baby is yours, tell her in no uncertain terms that you perform a DNA test when the baby is born.
Above is the solution to your woes. Do not involve any other person. Not even that your cousin.
Your endocrinologist may be mistaken. Stranger things have happened in this life. Be wise.

FamilyRe: Car Issue: Am I Being Fair To My Wife? by 9icetoo(m): 7:30am On Feb 04, 2020
Opeyemiebun:
Evening guys, please I will like to seek people's opinion concerning this issue that I have in my home.

I am a married Man with a Kid. Before marriage, my wife has a federal job outside Lagos while I run my business in Lagos. Due to Nigeria's economy, I asked her not to resign as she keeps working while I also keep on with my hustle. I have to be fair to her as she has been giving her all in this marriage and I so envy her strength to make things work despite the distance.

We had our first child last year and she is going to a year.. We both contribute financially and bring something to the table as we run 2 different homes.

I know she goes through a lot taking care of the baby without a car and I know how tedious it is for her to manage.

We are both young (I am 30 while she is 28)
We got our first few properties this January and we planning to do other things as we both bring money together to get things done.

We have plans of getting our first car within a month and my wife suddenly demanded that she also needs a car where she is due to the stress she goes through daily picking my child from creche and managing that with her own job. I asked that I employ a helper for her but she doesn't want.

She plans on getting the car within the next 2months with her own money. My issue is that I am business oriented and see it as a waste of money buying 2 cars when we can buy one and invest the money for the other one.

I am a Civil Engineer and my Job requires I get a car for mobility.
I feel guilty by trying to stop her from getting the car while I get mine and at the same time, if she get one I will also need to get.

I have been cracking my head up trying to see how we can go about it without hurting her and be fair to her as she is the best woman I can ever ask for.

What should I do, should we both get cars and let other stuffs take it course?
Get her the car. Defer the investment. Your happiness and that of your wife trumps all. She works hard. Let her also enjoy the fruit of her labour.
she needs it. And your child needs it too. Be wise.

Honestly,no one buys it or if at all they do,they will buy only at crayfish price.
2 years ago when my engine of my merc died,I had all sorts of people even from here, some of them bashing the same mercedes fighting over themselves to purchase it like that oh,but offering me ground nut money.
I told them point blank that I rather die than sell at any nonsense price,so I bought new powertrain and it is still in my garage as we speak.
Many people mercs simply because it is expensive to own,no other fancy reason!
Of course, buyers will only buy if the price is right (crayfish things). I was one of those that made enquiries about your car, assessed it and felt it was too expensive at that price.
Bros, a bad deal with a Benz is one of the worst automotive night mares one can ever encounter.

the agony and anguish is something else. So buyers deal only when price is right and they have enough financial room to deal with the unexpected surprises.

I thought you were sensible, but the first paragraph of this long story just invalidated the whole post

which nonsense excuse is that one? why did the dealer collect the 20k if it was too small as you have implied? he should have refunded the 20k instead

how can you say because the op sent 20k the dealer did not fulfil the contract adequately

see bros, accepting payment for a service is agreeing to the terms of the contract, if you didn't know that before, now you do
Fentanyl, I will not question your sensibility. You are Solomon.
Dealer sent op pictures of different cars. I'm sure it must have been more than 5 cars at least.
Dealer realised OP has gone ahead to import car from Yankee. Dealer probably exhausted 20k on logistics and called it quits.

If you pay an agent to look for house for you and after showing you ten houses, will the agent keep going for one full year just because you haven't accepted any house he has shown you?

There has to come a point when the agent will call it a day.

OP should name the dealer and the dealer should state his own side of the story (completely) cos the OP hasn't done justice to the dealers side of the story.
If the dealer had not made any effort, I would have been alarmed.
Car TalkRe: Was I Scammed Or Is The Dealer Right? by 9icetoo(m): 8:34am On Jan 31, 2020
OP is a funny guy.
Dealer asked for 50k to look for your specs, you downgraded it to 20k.

Do you think he will go all out because of 20k?

Do you know how much it costs to take uber from mainland to island and back four or five times a week to look for your "spec"?

This reminds of a friend that asked me to look for a car for him since I was now in Lagos.

I spent every weekend roaming around meeting different car dealers and inspecting several cars.

The cars he wanted were not good enough on my inspection, the ones I recommended, he rejected either cos of the model or the price.

At a point I gave myself brain. The guy was just unserious.

"friend" didn't bother to pay a dime towards all my Waka. My fuel tank and v6 must be running on friendship.

I simply told him to go to the nearest car stand in his town to buy a car he likes.

It takes a lot of effort and money to look for a car and inspect it for an intending buyer. You are not doing the dealer a favour by giving him money to look for a car for you. It is a lot of work.
He did well by telling you the truth that your spec won't be found within the country.

You went with that option without informing him but want him to pay you back money he has spent looking for cars for you.

And you call it fraud? You are the one who committed fraud.

TPounds really tried for me for that guy.

Truth be told, a lot of Nigerians are not realistic with their expectations when it comes to car purchase.

How would someone want to buy an 08 Nigerian used highlander or rav4 for less than a million and expect to get one in a pristine condition?

Of course, no genuine dealer will send you pictures of crap cars. When you go out there to inspect used cars, trust me 80% are rubbish.

I can't even begin to unsee some of the things I have seen.

Should I send such pictures to an intending car buyer, deceive him, the car is okay, make payment on his behalf and send such a deathtrap to him?

Make we dey use our head abeg. I am not a car dealer by the way. Just addressing the unrealistic expectations that abound here.

GreenWorld:
Thank you. Done but error code still persist
Hmmmm. So you've replaced coil and serviced the fuel supply and yet it persists.
Swap coil and injector on that cylinder with those on another cylinder. Swap plugs too. Clear the codes. If it comes back to that same cylinder, then you have an internal problem. If the code moves to the new cylinder you transferred the coil, plug and injector to, then one of those items is the culprit. That's all I can think of for now.
other people might have better solutions.
However this solution, or rather diagnostic check is not invasive and can be performed by you or your mechanic at little or not cost which is why I recommend it. Keep us posted.

Let's not derail op's thread sha.
In my opinion, buy another engine there only if it has been tested and certified okay and you have someone over there to verify it.
If not, jejely go buy engine for Ladipo so you can re5urn it if it's defective.
If you are truly reselling, I don't think you should bother about replacing engine. Sell as is and let buyer bear the responsibility.
More things could go wrong while that engine is being replaced and you will be left with an undriveable and unsellable car.

Which car is this?
A friend had a similar problem. Changed coil and the code returned.
Solution was to flush the injectors, wash the fuel pump filter. And code went away. Coil wasn't changed again. The cause was fuel starvation to cylinder number 3.
Might be your problem since you have changed coil already.
Car TalkRe: Faded Plate Number An Offense? by 9icetoo(m): 6:07pm On Jan 28, 2020
Natmvaa:
Well, very sorry about that experience you had.

Having been with MVAA for quite a while now, it's important we note that driving with faded no plate is an offence because it's meant to be clearly visible especially at night when faced with light ray.
In fact, it's important that your no plate is always visible whether at night or during the day.
Reason is that most times, security agencies may not need to stop you since they can verify your vehicles details with your no plates.

Even the machines mounted for verification of no plates, they won't be effective with a faded no plate.

About the quality of the no plates, I believe there isn't anything that is perfect. No matter how much of a quality you produce a product, it will still loose it's quality in time. So, if you are driving with a faded no plate, please visit any MVAA office for a reprint of your no plate to avoid any harassment from the security agencies.

Hope this helps in clarifying this issue.
Thanks.
This is not an affront on you.
With the above disclaimer, what you guys are doing is pure fraud.
How can you issue people a defective product?
A license plate is not a consumable. It is not supposed to wear out. It is supposed to last the life time of a car.
The old license plates that this new rubbish replaced never had these problems. Are we going backwards or forwards?
Instead of the MVAA to figure out why their license plates are wearing out faster than they should and fix the problem, they are busy issuing fines for "offences" of their own making.
My previous car had the same problem, well I went along and painted it carefully with a blue oil paint.
One road safety official stopped me and said my license plate was fake. He regretted making that assertion that day after the tongue lashing I gave him.
I've seen original plate numbers wear off after just two years. What rubbish.

I used to think you knew a thing about cars but now I know you're just a wannabe.
Most real drivers go for compact cars for several reasons including;
1.Incospicous.A C class is less noticeable compared to a Camry though the Camry is a big, empty box compared to the C.For very shy ppl like us,this is very significant.
2:Ability to maneuver and shunt in traffic.A 360 turn that would take others 2 or 3 turnings to complete, you can do it in 1 clean sweep.
3:Can squeeze into the smallest parking space.
4:Easy to dodge gallops,potholes.
Etc etc
I know what I know. I don't need your approval. Keep it. Thanks. The GS and ES series of Lexus are compact right?
They have same length with the e class. People still buy them. They aren't concerned about the turning radius or weaving in and out of traffic.
Go online (copart and Co) and compare the price of the e to the c class. Them no be mate.

Not everyone wants to make one point turns and weave in and out of traffic or stay conspicuous.

Like was rightly pointed out, the c was made for the younger generation with less focus on luxury.

For luxury, look at the e.

If you've made it, you've made it. A gold fish has no hiding place in a fish bowl.

I no be authority on cars sha. But I give free consultations. grin

Sometime ago (very long time ago though), I argued with a friend that the Lexus es330 was just a stretched out version of the big for nothing Camry.

At that time, I had never entered the Lexus though I see people drive it. I owned the Camry then and was of course a bit sentimental in my discourse.

A few months later, I stepped into the es330 and drove it around.

The difference was like day and night. I never compared the two ever again.

Drive an e class, come back and tell me that you still think the c class (whatever model between 2001-2013 which is quite popular) is luxurious.
