Would you rather increase the cost of money or decrease the value of money? Think about it seriously, what good will it be to be granted loan of 1 million dollars when it only has a value of 500,000 dollars? As an investor you always want to edge against inflation, you want to make sure your returns/profits makes sense.

The fact is, there is inflation and one of the ways to combat it is to raise IR. This doesn’t mean it’s a good news. Good move yes, but ‘bad’ news to the citizens as the economy will temporarily slow down as spending drops.

Now to my main point, I said good news for investors in the USA! I don't know what investments you have but if they told you to choose between high inflation and increased cost of borrowing, if your answer is high inflation then you might as well gather your money and set it on fire. My example of the real estate is very clear, even if I sold my hosue for 550k or 600k dollars, do you think I can buy my dream house or a replacement for normal price? Nope, everything increased, so even tho I made profit from the sale, it is basically not worth much due to inflation. In simpel terms, INFLATION = YOUR MONEY BEING WORTH LESS!

Context bro, context! If too much money is already in circulation, why would they spend less? Stimulus checks, loan forgiveness, child tax credits etc, there's so much money in circulation that demand for products and services are very very high leading to higher cost of goods and services.

The businesses continue to raise price because demand keeps increasing at an higher pace than production. For example, I bought a $400,000 house in December 2021, it is March 2022 now and that same property is being valued at $490,000, I did a test run and I recieved 3 offers well above the asking price of $490,000. This my friend is what the feds are trying to combat, without putting a barrier to borrowing, prices will continue to skyrocket not only in real estate but in every commodity/service.

The only advantage is that it takes capital from everyone else (Nigeria, China, etc etc all external investors) and send them into the US.

That's not necessarily true, if the cost to borrow money is very low then you'll have too much money in circulation hence high inflation, if everyone can afford 20k designer bags what do you think happens to the value of money? You also have to look at context here, interest rates was 0% to 0.25% for a long time, that is basically free money, no country survives by having such a low interest rate when the economic activities does not support it.

The main benefit of reducing interest rate is to encourage spending and greater economic activities, when those factors are no longer needed to be stimulated(Economy is doing well) then a low interest rate means less money earned for servicing debts, less value of investments and overall an over stimulated economy which leads to hyper inflation. To put things in context, what do you think the interest rate in Nigeria is? Once you find out you'll see that even if the U.S increases interest rate to 2%, they'll still be in good shape.

So no, Russia do not have to do anything here. Also, Ukraine have the right to make its decision, but it must take the realities of its neighbours into consideration. Finland and Sweden understand this rule and opt for neutrality even in spite of these conflict. Yes, you have a point that Putin have a hand, no one can deny it, but that's the point of war. Its all manipulations. The US is busy sending weapons to Ukraine and aids, so?

Here's point number 10 from the agreemnt:

10. Withdrawal of all foreign armed formations, military equipment and mercenaries.

If you honestly believe Russian troops were not present in the disputed regions then I have nothing more to say, Russia has succeeded in pulling a fast one on you my friend.

Because if inflation continues to grow then investments are less profitable. So this interest rate increase will effectively counter the inflation meaning money is harder to borrow and less competition for investors. The major reason inflation increased was becuase of the amount of money in circulation and the low cost of borrowing.

1. The people of Crimea did a referendum and the majority voted to reunite with their native motherland, Russia. They ceded to Russia, how is this not democratic ? Kosovo for example voted to separate from Serbia, South Sudan from Sudan etc. So no, they can't go to war with Russia for that.

2. By diplomatic options, rounds and rounds of meetings have been made, the notable one being the Minsk agreement that Ukraine refuse to transpose. Their tactics was to not implement it, then join nato, which activates article five of nato protocols that "an attack on one is an attack on all", whixh would effectively be a batrlw between Russia vs over thirty nato countries, hence Russia has to launch a preemptive strike to disrupt this plan. Russia waited for eight years, and the Minsk agreement was not honoured by Kiev. Now you tell me, what else should Russia have done? If you're Putin, what will you do?

3. About the recognition of the breakaway states, I believe its a ploy for Putin to force Ukraine to implement the Minsk agreement. As I see it, during the negotiation for ceasefire, Ukraine will accept (actually have accepted), not to join Nato, Luhansk and Doneskt will be integrated back into Ukraine, and they will have their constitution rewritten to accomodate their full autonomy like the Chechens in Russia.

This is not me cheering for the Russians, but when things are put in proper context, the nuances becomes easily understood. Also, this is a war between the US and Russia, the launching ground is just Ukraine. Its the same game play with Georgia, same wine in different bottles. I rest my case.

Have you actually read the Minsk Agreement? I'm not talking about the old agreement(Minsk 1) that was broken by both Ukraine and Russia but the new agreement(Minsk 2). Why do you think it is only Ukraine that has to implement it? The new agreement called for withdrawal of all foreign troops from the disputed areas but up till war broke out, Russia denied being part of the agreement as Putin keeps insisting that Russia is not involved in the dispute. How do you negotiate/dialog with an enemy that won't follow the rules?

Putin behaves like a bully and forget about the U.S for one minute, does Ukraine not have the right to make its own decisions? Are you honestly saying Crimea, Luhansk and Doneskt were not influenced by Russia to destabilize Ukraine? We can continue playing mind games but deep inside you know what's going on, you know

Russia's security guarantee are in three folds.

1. The amendment into Ukrainian constitution that it will be a neutral state and won't join nato.

2. The recognition that Crimea is a legitimate part of Russia.

3. The recognition of Luhansk and Doneskt as independent states.

None of these have been done. Ukraine only gave verbal agreement to the first one, but Putin is not fooled. It must be enshrined into the constitution, then it becomes legally binding. For example the Minsk agreement was signed by Ukraine since 2014, but Ukraine refuse to transpose it. The way would have been avoided if Ukraine did what it suppose to do.

Also, the US promised Gorbachev that there will be no eastward expansion of nato back in the 90's, but because it was verbal and not put in written, now look at the result thirsty years later, all the baltic countries previously in soviet Union are nato members. Russia will never allow such mistake will never repeat itself again, not now that it had paid a heavy price of sanctions.

Do you people even know what a DNA test consists of? It doesn't just say the person is the dad/mom but it gives a percentage and probability. For example anything less than 99% is considered inconclusive, anything less than 90% is considered negative or not biological mom or dad. So even with this rare condition, a competent DNA test center would still give a percentage and there should not be much fuss becuase twins have a very close DNA profile.
