budaatum:The division existed before Trump and it will exist long after Trump, let's not kid ourselves. I don't think any civil consequences will stop Trump from remaining relevant, even in a loss more than 70 million people voted for him, those people are not going anywhere, in fact there's a high probability that Biden fails hence 2024 will be another major battle, it is well ![]() |
Queenslander:I don't think you're taking into account the type of person who committed the assault. Do you expect a tout to behave reasonably? Most of these touts are high on weed or drugs and to make matters worse, she slapped him. That slap escalated the issue and subjected her to further assault, in 9ja one must always apply wisdom, this is not abroad where people are normal, in fact in 9ja abnormality is the norm. |
kponkedenge:Lmao....Let's see what happens, good dialogue my friend! |
linearity:I have no doubt he is going to pay heavily my only concern is criminal liability. I'm glad you mentioned the 2019 lawsuit because it would be a case of double jeopardy since Trump can lump the payments as part of that settlement. Ultimate will be interesting to see what comes out of this, it's a battle of whether something that has never been done in U.S history happens, will an ex president of the U.S. go to trial or possibly go to jail? How far will the powers that be prevent this from happening due to national security? Grab your popcorn, let's wait and see. |
kponkedenge:So if a bank failed to do its due diligence, you believe Trump will be held criminally liable for such failure? Until Deutsche Bank decides to prosecute Trump, this will remain a comical adventure. Yes Trump is shady but a wise man once said, it's not about what you did, it's about what they can prove you did......The mistake here is thinking a criminal case will hold up, there's a reason why most of the lawsuits against Trump are civil ones, the burden of proof is a lot lower than a criminal case. |
linearity:Great analysis but I'm sorry but most of what you wrote is just not reality, have you ever been truly audited? I do this for a living and I can tell you once you are audited, there's no agency in the world with the amount of resources the IRS has at its disposal, I'm not talking about audit of an average person but of super corporations and wealthy people. The IRS can and will compel you to defend yourself with receipts, testimonies etc, in fact they demand statistical and accounting accuracy, failure to do this will result in a failed audit and unintended consequences. For example, during an audit of a company I used to work for, not only were bank accounts frozen but they walked into the building and took away all the hard drives and any documents they could find. You mentioned IRS does not have international reach and I laugh, try to obtain IRS audit documents against Amazon and Apple, you'll be surprised at how much reach they have. Moving on, inflation of income to get loan is not something the AG can win without some help since it is subjective, I can value my company at 100 million this year and 2 years later revise the value to 50 million, goodluck proving it was done with malixcious intent, remmeber this is not about sentiments but what can be proven in court, the best bet is for the bank to directly sue Trump but then again it would be civil and not criminal, the DG only course of action is to try and prove tax evasion. In addition, the payment to Stormy Daniels in itself is not a criminal offense, it is more of an accounting error that will not lead to any jail term, for example I own multiple businesses, if I mistakenly put a personal expense on a business tax form and get audited for it, I just adjust or pay the fine. I'm trying hard here to see the criminal case, it increasingly looks more and more like a civil case but I guess we'll see. Tax evasion is a serious crime but there's a reason majority of people get to pay fines instead of serving jail sentence, we'll see what happens. |
budaatum:Failing to file when you have a tax liability is an automatic fine/penalty or worse, there's no compromise, don't argue just for argument's sake! You can try to defend but it won't work. Fiddling on the other hand depends on the strength of your defense, if your defense fails you get fined and pay up....SIMPLE! |
budaatum:I already told you according to U.S tax laws one is a certainty and the other can be defended. So the U.S tax laws already decided which one is the greater crime. Failing to file taxes when you have a tax liability is an automatic fine/penalty from the IRS. While fiddling can be defended when you get audited, only when you fail to defend yourself during an audit do you get to face consequences. I hope this clears up the confusion? |
linearity:I would agree with you if not that you overlooked one crucial detail! THE GUY IS ALREADY BEING AUDITED! No one under an audit can escape scrutiny, it is not possible for IRS to just go by what you said, when you're audited they get receipts, testimonies, third party verifications etc. If you are familiar with the IRS, you would know no state justice dept has more resources than them when it comes to tax cases, there's a reason the IRS is feared more than the FBI or any other agency in the USA. |
budaatum:Too bad intelligence is not what I would associate with your reasoning, failing to file taxes attracts automatic fines/penalities as long as you have tax liabilities, this is US tax law and non negotiable, whereas fiddling is subjective and open to interpretation so guess which ones you have a better chance of defending? Come on, I'm sure for someone so intelligent, you can figure it out but you're right we're just going back and forth so let's end this tomfoolery, shall we! |
budaatum:Failing to file taxes is the same as fiddling with the taxes in your mind? Wesley Snipes not only failed tro file taxes but when he was penalized and given a tax bill, he failed to pay it and instead chose to fight the IRS. Majority of those who are audited and penalized do not fight the IRS, they work out a payment plan and comply, once again I don't know what you're arguing here, please let's focus, compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges, abeg! |
budaatum:I'm suggesting it is not something anyone goes to court for, it is more of getting yourself audited and paying the penalty/fines, fiddling, errors, etc will never be missed by the IRS and let me just remind you, this guy is already being audited. Furthermore the keyword is 'IF', this is a big IF considering the amount of legal representation and years of experience Trump has with litigation.....They don't call him king of litigation for nothing you know ![]() |
budaatum:Now you're just reaching.....fiddling, tax avoidance? For this obodo America , this is America o, 90% of all citizens fiddle with their taxes from dependents to child tax credits. Even our African community over here are used to buying dependents for tax purposes. Abeg make we talk something else jaare ![]() |
budaatum:In the U.S when you file bankruptcy, you must submit your tax returns to creditors and the trustee. Between 1991 and 2009, Trump did 6 bankruptcies for his business, so there's no way his taxes were hidden. |
budaatum:I already said I'm not going to argue about civil consequences, he sdeserves what he gets, my only point of argument is criminal liabilities. |
budaatum:Remember all his taxes were only hidden after 2010, all the major loans he had occurred before then so I don't know how your theory is relevant unless you meant he inflated his income to IRS and then deflated it the next tax season, can you explain? Furthermore, any bank in the USA that would give you a major loan would do so by asking for bank statements and IRS issued tax transcipt better known as 4605-T. Overall this looks more like a civil issue, the criminal aspect lacks merit. |
budaatum:Don't let the progressives hear you, they want blood and tears. They want him to lose all his money, assets and rot in a jail cell. I still followed one of them argue earlier today and I had to take tylenol for the amount of jargon thrown my way ![]() |
kponkedenge:I already told you why he hid it, he does not want to seem poorer than he is and he does not want the public to know he does not pay taxes, it was strictly reputational and there's no crime in that but once again believe what you will, we can't all see the light, sleep well my friend ![]() |
drediamond:Finally someone that can READ! you'll notice I don't argue with these guys about civil lawsuits or reputational damage, my main cup of tea is criminal liability or Trump going to jail. When it comes to criminality, they fail to realize, it is one thing to convict a man based on his personal dealings, it is another to hold him personally liable for business dealings. I keep telling those who care to know that the IRS audits Trump automatically every year, it is non negotiable but these internet warriors seem to think NY prosecutors are going to wave their Harry Porter wand and perform magic ![]() |
kponkedenge:Maybe you've not been involved in litigations like this but I have and I have been summoned once on behalf of a company I audited. There's a thing called due diligence, financial institutions are required to conduct due diligence before granting loans. Evaluations are subjective unless it comes from a third party or independent party. You can't just say a customer claims his assets are worth 100 million so let's grant him 100 million loan without conducting due diligence. I am also a business owner in the USA and the last loan of 500,000 dollars we were granted was based on our bank statments, tax returns, credit scores and reputation, so I fail to see what you mean by lying to get a loan, this is the subjective crap that gets tossed out in court because it is not valid evidence, were bank statements forged? Tax returns forged? What exactly is the criminal offense here? Misrepresentation? Now the 72 million that you mentioned is not even about Trump but his businesses, this was why I asked do you know the difference between business taxes and personal taxes? A business can be refunded millions if they suffered great losses over the years, Trump has had over 30 businesses and majority of them have suffered great losses which he can write off, depreciate or ammortize. I don't want to get into financial jargon but you get the drift. I'm sorry but once again you've failed to state anything that will actually stick as criminal tax evasion. The worst case scenario here is a heavy fine and seizure of assets yet even that isn't likely to happen knowing how long Trump delays litigation, it might take 7-10 years before any meaningful results adn by then , my nigga Trump might already be chilling 6 feet under. |
kponkedenge:Civil case I'm not going to argue with because that is definitely a possibility but we are talking about criminal case here, most specifically tax evasion which is NEVER GOING TO HOLD UP IN COURT! Asset inflation in itself is not criminal, valuations are subjective depending on the time, place and the medium. I can value my house at 200 million Naira today and 2 years later value it at 100 million depending on the market or reality. If a common man like me can put this simple defense forward goodluck presenting a credible case based on asset valuation alone! Now let's come back to the main issue of tax evasion, unless something in his tax returns specifically shows hidden assets or criminal behavior which I seriously doubt, all you've written so far are guesses and assumptions. Like I told the previous guy, read people, READ! It is easier to find a needle in a haystack than to throw an ex- president of the USA in jail, Trump's taxes are audited every year, it is automatic! If you believe the IRS overlooked his tax evasion but NY prosecutors suddenly discovers this bombshell then you're just as confused as Trump's supporters who believe he was rigged out of office. Finally, are corporations people? Can you hold Trump personally liable for Trump's business? Do you undertsand the difference between business taxes and personal taxes? Let's stop fooling ourselves here, you're dealing with the king of litigation, HE AIN'T GOING TO JAIL, I CAN BET MY LIFE SAVINGS ON IT! |
salford1:I'm still trying to figure out where the NY prosecutors and auditor general announced they are charging Trump with tax evasion? Let me guess, you pulled this info. out of your ass? ![]() |
salford1:Already read your edited post and you sound more comical now than you did before....Predict, guess, assume, notice the pattern? You keep avoiding the question, you believe the IRS sat on this bombshell for over a decade and all of sudden decides they want to prosecute him now? I know you get wet at any negative news about Trump but come on dude, where's your dignity? ![]() I'm going to make it easy for you, read about business income against personal income, read about the reason why Amazon pays little to no taxes, I guarantee you if you read these things, you would become wiser and more enlightened.....THIS IS MY GIFT TO YOU MY FRIEND! |
salford1:So you mean NY prosecutors have formally or informally charged Trump with tax evasion? You mean NY prosecutors would be the one to charge him and not federal prosecutors? So what's the point of him being audited already? In case you don't know, Trump's taxes are audited automatically every year since the overpayment fiasco. I know common sense is not common but dude, stop embarrassing yourself, you're arguing with an experienced auditor, a batlle you'll never win ![]() |
salford1:You keep shouting tax evasion and I keep laughing! I want to believe you're intelligent, so tell me do you honestly believe the IRS of thew United States would sit by all these years(Over a decade) and wait before prosecuting him. Remember the IRS are the ones holding his tax forms, they have all these infomation already, the only difference now is that it is available to the public. Y'all still don't get it, NO U.S PRESIDENT PAST OR PRESENT CAN EVER BE ALLOWED TO GO TO JAIL! They would rather eliminate him than have him in prison where he can reveal all the deep state secrets ![]() |
Your 2.5 million is less than $8000, abroad it won't even get you through the year. Ticket, visa, accomodation, wetin remain? All that just to become beggar abroad because without papers you're stuck! Now in 9ja, that 2.5 can turn into 5 million and above in a year or it can turn to 50,000 Naira, it all depends on skills, luck and connect! In short, no one can advise you properly, na you know how big your balls are.....May the powers that be grant you wisdom! |
This is like medicine after death, Trump is out of office, the reputational damage won't mean a thing, so what he is not as rich as he said? So what, he hardly pays any taxes like Jeff Bezos? Ofutufete.....Man is inching closer to 80, wetin remain ![]() |
kponkedenge:What are you talking about? Release of tax return has nothing to do with criminal behavior, Congress just wants the American Public to know his net worth and whether or not he pays taxes. |
One by one dem don dey come out, I knew it was only a matter of time. YORUBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.......Even if Herdsmen dey point gun at our mama and papa, just give one of us enough money and you'll hear things like, I NO SEE ANYTHING, LET'S LEAVE IT TO GOD, AWON HERDSMEN IS ALSO OMO ODUDUWA...... ![]() |
doxijaw:Why do you fear kidnappers when your neighbors dey steal meat from your pot? Don't worry about kidnappers, let's focus on the meat issue ![]() |
Since the beginning of time, man has been kept in the dark with incomplete information, EAT THIS, DON'T EAT THIS, BUT WHY? What exactly is the truth? People making decisions off of incomplete information are likely to believe lies than the truth. At a point in time everyone believed the earth was flat, at a point in time everyone belived leeches can cure blood diseases. There was a point in time we all believed democracy would lead to a prosperous Nigeria but look at us now? You want to know the truth? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH! |
THIS COUNTRY IS FINISHED! Imagine Bin Laden granting CNN interview after 9/11, who did the interview, how waas it organized? Was the government aware? Zamfara already granted him amnesty? What happens to the lives lost? Business as usual.... Top 4 Ways to make money in 9ja: 1. Politics 2. Yahoo/Yahoo+ 3. Terrorism 4. Church/Miracle Worker |
