Christianity Etc › Re: 'any Christian Indulging In These Listed Sins Is Already On His/her Way To Hell' by abbey621(m): 12:12pm On Apr 21, 2016
I keep asking myself these 2 important questions whenever I read something or someone claiming some people can't make heaven:

1: Are you God's personal secretary? I remember reading something about his ways are mysterious and known only to him! Unless you've died and witness judgment yourself, I doubt you really know what you are talking about!

2: Thou shall not judge? Whatever happened to this saying? The person putting on lipstick or keeping an afro might be purer than the brother or sister who shows up for church 5 days out of the week!

In Nigeria, many still see themselves above the law, some religious sects will obey their religious leaders first before the Govt. sad but true
Then they should face the full wrath of the law! No Imam is too big to jail!

A group comes out and threatens to cripple the economy and some goats rejoice, they rejoice at the news and await the potential destruction of their own lives! Whether you are Boko Haram, Militant or any other group hell bent on making life difficult for Nigerians, I support the total annihilation of such groups!

Goke7:
Let's be realistic here, one issue with regulation of religious activities In Nigeria is that most times Muslims don't comply and if they can't comply, Christians cannot be forced to comply. This is one salient point that makes Christians shout whenever laws like this emerge. This is why churches in Nigeria cannot be forced to pay tax as no mosque will never pay tax.

The 8pm timing can never work. In my university days, both Christians and muslim activities were banned on campus beyond 9pm, we Christians were complying but the muslims were doing tutorials in their mosque overnight. This is one major reason christians don't trust muslims in elected offices at times. El rufai just need to come more clean about the matter by dropping the 8pm issue, it can't work
I don't know about the Muslims in your school but Muslims abroad comply with all the regulations, in a sane society religious activities after 8pm should be indoors and not disturbing the peace of the community. If the law is implemented correctly, all offenders will be prosecuted, end of story! In regards to the taxes, religious organizations should be treated as non-profit hence why churches and mosques should not be taxed but I hope you realize that there's a difference between the church and it's officials. If a pastor owns a building or a business used to make profit, such entity should be taxed and if an Imam or Alfa operates a side business, such business equally deserves to be taxed. A lot of our people don't understand this simple explanation, hence why it needs to be communicated more clearly! Finally, I still maintain that the 8pm curfew on religious activities is justified and will work as long as there's adequate enforcement, no need to say one religion obeys the law more than another, there's no evidence of that. With proper implementation and enforcement everyone is equal in the eye of the law!

truth be told, our development is not there yet, when we become like the US or european countries, then it can be easier to regulate but for now Nigeria is a very religious sensitive nation, even the muslims blare their speakers very loud early in the morning.

That regulation can't work here for now but as for the licencing, I stand with that one.
Countries like the USA and other European countries put in place most of these regulations when the countries were still developing. Has it ever been tried before? NO! If you look at the Bill closely it not only limits activities of churches but mosques too. The time restriction of 8pm seems fair in my opinion as most people are annoyed by the disturbances but too chicken to say anything!
Christianity Etc › Re: Be Ready To Jail 5000 Pastors, CAN Tells El-rufai by abbey621(m): 2:49pm On Apr 20, 2016
Goke7:
The time issue is the bone of contention here which must be dropped, that is what is infringing on the rights of freedom of worship. If there is no curfew in town the Govt cannot restrict any activities beyond 8pm
The government can term abuse of loud speakers and loud activities in the churches as disturbance of peace and constituting a nuisance to the public, at 8pm no respectable society should have such disturbances. Come to the USA, go to England and other European countries, disturbing the peace is not taken lightly at all!

Family › Re: How Do You Handle A Stubborn Kid? by abbey621(m): 8:15pm On Apr 19, 2016
It's all about moderation. Beating a child excessively will not correct the child's stubbornness but a combination of long talks, punishment and beating will do the trick. I remember when I did badly in school, I did not fear the whooping like I feared the long talks and punishments like doing all the chores in the house while the younger ones watches and receiving no allowance for six months. Needless to say, the next term I placed 2nd in my class. A stubborn child is a combination of ignorance and a call for attention. Give the child a lot of attention by taking interest in his or her interests and the stubbornness will gradually disappear!
Education › Re: Christian And Islamic Studies Merged By Ministry Of Education, Nigerians React by abbey621(m): 1:47pm On Apr 19, 2016
One of Nigeria's biggest problem is religion. In advanced countries there's nothing like religious studies in primary or secondary schools and if you must have religious studies shouldn't it be about the different types of religion? Those criticizing this merger are the dumbass, ignorant simpletons with nothing to offer but loud mouth ramblings. I'd rather my child be educated and enlightened by knowing the different types of religion out there and then make a decision than for him or her to be ignorant and believe that one religion is supreme over the other!

It's unfortunate some people still chose to support the atrocities committed by politicians over the last 16 years. Buhari might be slow, he can be sometimes insensitive and he can be selective at times but give him credit where credit is due. Without the war on corruption most of us wouldn't even be aware of the sins committed by greedy, callous members of the previous administration. We all wonder why the economy is in shambles, why our roads are death traps and so on, let's not wonder no more, the goats are gradually coming out one by one. By fire, by thunder they must vomit it all!

This is exactly the problem with Nigeria. People dabbling into issues they clearly lack knowledge of! What business does the Archbishop have with governance in Nigeria? He should stick to his religious mandate and let the legal system and the government work things out! Kanu is not being held illegally, he was arrested on specific charges, brought before the court and the court threw the case out. He was rearrested immediately on several other charges and will definitely get his day in court. All these religious contortionists from father Mbaka to Onaiyekan should mind their bloody business!

In this age, where girls abort frivolously and guys don't take responsibility for what they produced, it's nice to see a young couple step up to the plate. Make no mistake there are rough slippery slopes ahead but as long as they believe in one another they will surely succeed. To those condemning them for not marrying first, would you rather praise the who.re who got married to a womanizer after several abortions only for them to have trouble conceiving or maybe you'd praise the young woman who got married to a chief or an alhaji all in the name of money. Marriage isn't for everyone, some are meant to be wives while others are meant to be babymamas but in this case the photo does not tell the entire story.
Family › Re: A Concubine Should Not Be Made To Pay For The Sins Of A Cheating Spouse!!! by abbey621(m): 11:43am On Apr 16, 2016
Two things are pertinent to this situation. Firstly, in a sane society this is called assault and battery and the wife should be in jail. Next, it is only a shameless woman that would do something like this, real women don't go fighting outside because their men cheated. They rather confront the man, leave or make life miserable for him to the point that he has no time for promiscuity again. Finally, this single act of stupidity rarely solves anything, most times it gives the man confidence to cheat more as the consequences goes to the mistress not him.
Romance › Re: Guys Are The Major Reason Most Ladies Are Still Single- Emusmith by abbey621(m): 2:58pm On Apr 15, 2016
I find it completely shameful that this is coming from a guy. Not because there isn't some truth to it but because you make it seem like it's fact rather than your own damn opinion! Let's look at some of your statements:

Guys are insensitive, guys are greedy and indecisive. Can you honestly say the same attributes are not applicable to most women? 9ja women are trained to go for the ready made, most college relationships don't work out because by the time the girl graduates she prefers a working class guy or a self made mogul. This leaves most college guys heart broken and very numb to the idea of a serious relationship. In addition, society puts the burden of marriage on the man, this means expenses, expenses, expenses! If a guy is going to work hard to make so much money, work hard to be successful and worthy of marriage then the least he could ask for is a woman that fits his desires, this is not greed my friend, it's called choice! Finally, as far as I'm concerned guys have earned the right to test and dump, I know it sounds awful but I'm a realist. Look at it this way, a lot of our females out there have turned their man into an ATM or even their daddy, the excuse these females give is that if their boyfriend is not willing to cater to their needs then he is not man enough, now tell me who's the greedy one!

I see why Zombies are called that name. Please go to the constitution and read about the passage of an Act by the NASS. I won't give you the section because you will end up blaming Jonathan for the section that empowers the NASS to override the presidential assent after 30days.
You did yourself a great disservice by: 1: Calling people zombies. 2: Not providing the section of the constitution. People like you fascinates me greatly because while you might have a valid point, the condescending tone in which you made that point makes you shallow thus making it hard for people to take you seriously!

Celebrities › Re: Why Nigerians Are The Reason The Likes Of Davido And Olamide Sing Trash by abbey621(m): 2:21pm On Apr 14, 2016
The only assurance the likes of 2face Idibia , Timi Dakolo, Dare Art Alade have is the longevity power their works have. The songs will out live them for sure. The likes of Olamide and Davido can’t leave a valuable catalogue for their descendants as inheritance because nobody would be buying any poo from them in 50 years.
This is one of the worst piece of sh*t ever written on social media! By your logic we are to believe that songs like African Queen and You're not the girl would outlive songs like Bobo, Dami Duro and Melo Melo even though there's no evidence of this whatsoever. I think the OP placed too much importance on artiste like Timi Dakolo. Even the great 2face has some crappy songs that won't make it through 50 years. All in all, it's okay to criticize but let's do so objectively!

I don't know about Germany or France but the families of the VP of the United States are actively present on social media with lots of selfies/photos. Furthermore if your train of thought is centered on her not having a life just because her father is the VP then I suggest you change that thought process!

An integer cannot be mathematically written on separate lines so it cannot be 11.

All these experts on what's right or wrong in a relationship yet with all their wisdom they are the ones that easily fall prey. I've never been the type to believe that all relationships must follow the exact same rules, if you see cooking and washing his clothes as slavery then I'm sorry to say this but if you eventually get married you would see the marriage as slavery also. People like you talk the talk but can't walk the walk, at 20 you are full of confidence, at 26 your confidence slows to 50% and you start being flexible on some of these rules and at 30 your confidence is basically 10%, at this point you would not only sleep on the same bed but sleep on the floor with him if you have to. Finally at 35 you realize you've lost all confidence, you realize that all your younger ones and friends are married with kids because they did what you considered as slavery and/or abomination. Sooner or later, you find yourself as a second wife or a baby mama and finally realize that talk is cheap but not many can back it up!

Celebrities › Re: Four Nigerian Singers Who Can't Sing by abbey621(m): 12:14pm On Apr 13, 2016
A lot of you posters here on Nairaland are quacks! This is the honest truth, can someone define singing? Musicians can be vocalist, lyricists and so on; do you even know the hard work that goes into composing a verse not to talk of a complete song? The musicians you mentioned above may not fit your definition of singers but that's your problem and not theirs. In the States we have musicians like Wiz Khalifa, Macklemore, Iggy and so on, they don't fit the traditional definition of singers but still they remain relevant in the industry because music has evolved and the listeners are driving this evolution, without artiste like the ones you mentioned above giving us a new type of music how will the music industry evolve in Nigeria?
