TribalEAST: don't make jest of someone's effort. I myself couldn't believe such a show could hold sway in ogbomosho, a town which isn't even a city.Same here. when i saw the topic, i was thought the dogs were fighter dogs who were pitched against each other to foght. |
are those not called slangs? It's not like they've always been in pidgin english. |
Kunleoduwole: i think i have learnt a bitter lesson. But seriously what can i do incase i want to apply to another country,do you advise i get a new passport or try and collect the one with the stamp.i don't intend to give to any agent again..I just hope you've really learned your lesson because Nigerians rarely learn and that is why there has been a high failures rates in JAMB and WAEC in recent times. |
mikeansy: Saudi Arabia allows Nigerian pilgrimsIt is not discrimination. They're only trying to protect their country. Besides, what Mauritius intended was to screen people coming from Nigeria at the airport but from what i heard, that is not ready yet and they need to hold off people from the time being. This is what your country shuld have done from the get go and you're here saying it's discrimination. like the whole world is supposed to cede to your whims and caprices just because you're a Nigeria. They know what they want from their country and they know the best way to protect their country. Atleast they gave a cogent reason for barring Nigerians, Liberians, Sierra leonians, Congolese etc from travelling from their country for the time being. What reason did you give when you deported Ghanians from Nigeria in the famed Ghana Must Go saga? |
It's only temporary. |
ZUBY77: Check my post again.Well said. |
majekdom2: We are not poor when it comes to natural resources , we are poor because we got a poor human resource. majority of naijas are not credible.Majority of Nigerians may not be credible because Nigeria is a poor country and it has nothing to do with natural resources. If you can't use the resources to take care of your citizens then the country is damn poor and this material poverty has begotten mental poverty and that is why countries can not allow a free reign of people from Nigeria. they have to be curtailed else they will turn these countries into a hell of some sort. You don't know how bad Nigerians can be until you encounter them outside the country and juxtapose them with citizens f those countries. I have been in Mauritius for a few months and what shook me about the country apart from the serenity and beauty is the fact that people here obey traffic rules. i see a car stopping for a traffic light deep in the night and the Nigerian in me is like, dude, you're the only one on the road, move the fvck on. now, just last month for the first time in broad day light i saw a car disobey traffic and i was really surprised as i've never seen such in this country. only for me to look closely and see that the person driving the car was a Nigerian that i know. Only a Nigerian and people from similar countries can cause havoc in otherwise peaceful country and that is why Nigerians are hated in almost every part of the globe where they call home. They don't respect themselves let alone the country where they find themselves. So, tell me why these countries should allow a free reign of Nigerians. |
ZUBY77: Look at it this way. Nigeria is the most populous black nation. You're saying all these to make Nigeria look good. Even though your hypothesis works for some countries, it doesn't ring true for countries like Nigeria, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. There are other variables that countries use to give free access to people from another country and Nigeria usually falls short of those variables. How come the US with about 300 million people have access to 172 countries and Nigeria with approximately 150 million people don't have that kind of luxury? One good reason among others is poverty. |
Why scotland? What's so special about being part of great Britain? |
Whenever i see the skylines of cities such as London, Hong Kong, Dubai, London or Paris, i wish Enugu or any city culd look like that. but like they say, Rome was not built in a day. We have to be realistic in our expectations and like someone has pointed out, the budget of Enugu and other states in the east are too measly to achieve something such gargantuan. Even Abuja that Nigeria's 10 years budget was plunged into, is still an average city by all standards how much more Enugu that receives peanut from the FG. Why should Enugu even be expecting to receive money from the top to survive. Is that how other cities in the world survive? i don't think so. If Enugu wants to make a mark, there are several variables that need to be looked into. First and foremost, there has to be a long term plan and it starts from planning the city. Enugu has been planned to some reasonable extent but more can still be done. During planning, different parts of the city should be designated for a particular thing. For example, Emene should be the industtrial hub, Agbani can be the educational center etc. Now, any city that cannot survive alone is not fit to be called a city. I keep hearing people talking about why Enugu should not be commercialized. How can a city not be commercialized when commercialization is one of the factors that makes it a city. A part of Enugu can be designated as a commercial center. To build a city and maintain it, you need to have recurring income. Secondly, i don't think Enugu can be like new York or Hong Kong even in 200 years but it can be unique and attractive. Enugu must not have the speed trains for now. The basics have to be taken care of first before anything else and the basics include good network of roads, schools, hospitals and transport system. Here in Mauritius, there are no trains let alone speed trains but they have one of the best bus systems that i have ever seen. You can live your life to the fullest even if you depend greatly on the transport system. It's superb and top notch. Enugu can replicate that such that big buses run to every nook and cranny. |
nnenneigbo: love the name Emeka, usually fine boys too. Don't know a single ugly EmekaRev Emeka King is fugly ![]() |
Lordnath: Best Airline Staff Service in AfricaThis is also an award for the best airline in Africa. |
adaobi123: All my children will have Igbo names, no english namesThat's good to know. I intend doing same. |
kackar22: Why is everybody catefully avoiding Emeka which remains the most widely answered name for the great igbos till todayI was surprised my myself. Emeka is the single most popular igbo name. |
AndreUweh: For those who are against gate fees charged here: to rent a hall that will accommodate between 800-1000 people cost £2000 (over five hundred thousand naira). This event last till 4am.I understand the issue of money. Maybe i don't know much about organizing such shows but have they considered maybe asking for donations rather than selling tickets? The ticket thingy just kinda ticks me off. I would think that since we're trying as much as possible to attract some lost people back into the Igbo fold, we would stop at nothing to make sure they are not hindered in coming for such events. |
kenbee: Massive turnout outside ur motherland? when tragedy struck, U will be the 1st to shout and ask why it was hosted outside Igboland. There's a difference between a cultural event and a musical concert. You should know that. |
Evergreen123: its an event that will be organised with money. Is there any event that is not organized with money? Even charity events are organized with money? it doesn't make any difference. |
kenbee: Seeing everything from the Negative perceptions since 2009.Which crowd? Shouldn't we even be praying for a massive turnout? |
It could have been a nice event without the whole gate fee thingy. At a moment when we're trying to bring Igbo peeps back to their culture, some people think it is wise to collect money to attend a Cultural show. Are they coming to see jay z and Beyoncee? What load of crap. |
GoodFaith: U need to tell ur sister to take her place at the back seatWhat an idiotic comment. |
Barrywilly: Good news, but why did Nigerian Army always kill in round figures. E. g 20, 40, 50 or 100. Well, I wish them success on the battle fields, although somebody should just stop lying about these round figuresi think they usually round off the figure to the nearest tens or hundred. For instance if they kill 18, they will approximate it to 20. On a serious note, i think these figures are usually cooked up to give people the impression that they are really winning the war when that is not exactly the case. Just yesterday i saw a video of Nigerian soldiers fleeing Mubi. |
Pastor Chris comes across to me as a braggart. That notwithstanding, he made some very solid points which i agree with. Most importantly, is that the fact that, the fact that someone is a man of god and runs a very big church doesn't necessarily mean that his wife must be up there too. i think that is one of the issues he had with pastor Anita. She felt she shouldn't' be answerable to some pastors because she saw herself as next in rank after pastor Chris. that's what i was able to infer. But i did not like when he said something like men of God cannot sin or make mistakes. I don't know if someone can explain what he meant. That's where my idea of him being a braggart came from. |
semitunde: I'm bending my mind to see how rap and hiphop are part of AA's culture. What is culture in your view? Is highlife culture? You obviously don't know what culture is. Culture evolves and hip hop and it's accompaning lifestyle has come to be part of African-American culture. |
Hip Hop and Rap is African American culture. Ebonics is African American culture. Jumping the broom is African American culture. They surely have a culture. |
I have said it before that the Calabar stadium does not project our image as a country that well. Our main national team should be playing in a world class stadium. That notwithstanding, i wonder why this issue of stadium always comes up whenever we perform badly in a match. I remember how people condemned the choice of Kano as the venue of our Germany 2006 qualifiers against Angola just because we lost. If we had won convincingly, the choice of Kano would never have come up. People have alkso criticized the choice of the Abuja stadium is the past citing the fact that the fans are too bland and that the city is not fit to host the SE. No matter where it is taken to, people will complain as far we are not doing well. Let's just make sure we play in standard stadiums irrespective of the location. |
What? I've never seen this man's face but his name keeps ringing in my head whenever i think of Sun Newspaper along with Awoyinfa. RIP to him. |
The wife surely didn't fancy the whole idea. The man just forced his idiotic obsession on the girl who wanted to have a wedding like everyone else. he was even more idiotic by printing the logo of CHevrolet on the wedding cake thereby doing a free advert for the company. What a mumu red devil he is. |
CFCfan: But why was the ex-Deputy governor impeached for poultry farming? He was not sending chickens to the house of assembly members. You can't be rearing chickens in the government house and not let other government functionaries to have a taste if the chicken. It's wrong on many levels. |
EnlightenedSoul: False. A "YES" achieved through forced coercion isn't consent. Surely, you understand that.Surely you don't get my point. How will the authorities ascertain that the YES was gotten through forced coercion? |
EnlightenedSoul: How the hell is the person in your example innocent??He's not innocent but he can cheat the system and get away with it. If it's about getting a YES then he can get it by hook or by crook. |
Potentials is not by being a graduate or having to masters degrees or graduating with first class or hustling from morning to night with nothing to show for it. Potentials is coming up with an innovation which is already in the market and waiting to reap the dividends. |
