any update from the glass house? Need some clarification/confirmation concerning the court's ruling on pinnick's election case. Because a rumour out there s saying that a court in Jos has nullified the election that usher in this administration. |
Na this kind attitude we want from our foreign players wey get dual citizenship. No be those wey go de expect Naija to prostrate 4 them before considering weda to play or not? ENOUGH OF SOLANKE palava. If He wants to play 4 naija make im come out plain like Iwobi. EXCLUSIVE: Alex Iwobi wants to be part of Nigeria Olympic squad Apr 5, 2016 14:51:59 Exclusives The Arsenal youngster has praised the work of coach Samson Siasia for delivering Nigeria a ticket to Rio 2016 Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi wants to be a part of the Nigeria squad to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after failing to see the Super Eagles reach the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Coach Samson Siasia was the first person to invite Iwobi to the U23 collective ahead of qualifying for Rio 2016 but he could not take part due to his past with the English youth teams. The 19-year-old eventually committed his future to Nigeria when he made his competitive international debut in the disappointing defeat to Egypt in last week’s Afcon qualifiers. “It was a massive disappointment for the team that we did not qualify for the forthcoming Africa Cup Nations,” Iwobi toldGoalafter scoring in Saturday’s 4-0 win for Arsenal against Watford. “The coaches and players worked so hard to gain the ticket but it's a shame we didn't get through. We conceded a late goal in Kaduna and unfortunately we were unable to convert our chances in the second leg in Egypt.” The player who has been described as ‘special’ by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has turned his attention to Rio. “I am looking forward to the forthcoming Olympics and if I am invited, I will do my best to make a meaningful contribution,” he said. “I believe that Nigeria has a crop of excellent players who are capable of doing great things at the Olympics. Coach Samson Siasia deserves a lot of praise for securing a place for the nation at the Olympics. “I do not have any regrets whatsoever in opting to play for Nigeria and will always do my best whenever I put on the green white green colours of Nigeria. I hope to be involved in the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers too. “I am very grateful to my team mates, the Nigeria Football Federation, coaches, the press and fans for the warm welcome I received following my decision to come home. “Nigeria is a great footballing nation and deserves to assume her rightful place in Africa and world football and I am keen to be part of a team that achieves this goal,” Iwobi concluded. Nigeria will head to the Olympic Games in August before playing their first 2018 World Cup qualifying game in October. http://m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/4078/exclusives/2016/04/05/22013892/exclusive-alex-iwobi-wants-to-be-part-of-nigeria-olympic *make u no vex o. I no b news poster 4 here but I love this guy dem de call Iwobi attitude towards our country 'Nigeria'. No b d kain player wey still de wait for call up from d obodo oyinbos come de snub us...* |
chrisooblog:"50 slides powerpoint presentation?" you no go kill person with laughter. Don't mind him...Sir Forgiveness is always funny. He will soon call for the inclusion of Olarenwaju Kayode in d 18man-list. |
chrisooblog:Sir, we need not to forget that our opponents too will be coming with three over-age players. No matter how sluggish Mikel can be, we can't overlook his contribution to the team. Having them in the team will also help bring confidence to the young players. Finally, since d first WCQ match is in October n hopefully the bulk of players that will prosecute d olympic games will make d SE squad this will be a plus as they must have gel well with these senior players and that'll be a plus for us going into world cup qualifier. |
chrisooblog:Great list! *thumbs up* If I'm not mistaken you fail to include two over-age players in ur proferred team. Well, I will simply make little changes to urs. GK 1. Daniel 2. Alampasu Defenders 3. K. Madu 4. S. Amuzie 5. L. Balogun(1st man over-aged player) 6. K. Omeruo 7. Awaziem 8. M. Mohammed Midfielders 9. Ndidi 10. A. Okechukwu 11. Mikel(2nd man over aged player) 12. I. Matthew 13. A. Iwobi Attackers 14. M. Simon 15. I. Success 16. K. Iheanacho 17. V. Osimhen 18. V. Moses(3rd man Over-aged player) with these 3 senior players either in d starting line-up or on d bench. There experience might just be the 'difference' in Rio. Recall Beijing2008 when we had d likes of Osaze n Anichebe in the team and de made the difference. I just hope siasia is FAIR with his selection. |
prahcetomi:I doubt it! Jamb, post utme n other exam bodies are just put in place to check the number of students getting admission and at the long run the number of youths joining the labour force every year. If not so, y will a student who score above jamb's requirement still not make d cut for admission in our tertiary institutions... Since gaining admission into a tertiary institution is independent of a student's jamb score as he/she will have to scale through his or her school of choice entrance exam(which is not free too). Its nothing but waste of time n fund... Well, I don't blame the govt. Its a way of generating revenue. The solution I'll rather proffer is that Vocational schools should be created round d geopolitical zones. Where students will be guided by vocational guidances and councelors and tested through various vocational aptitude tests. Not forgetting to sensitize parents on a need for vocational career in this 21st century. This will help reduce number of students that goes back home waiting for another year. above all it will creat n produce graduates who are independent of the govt. Just my take! |
terzurum5:Make we give TheSuperNerd this assignment to coin d thread's name I think he deserves that. |
terzurum5:Sir. Terzurum has done it once again this time he hits it hard and theirby leaving all naija football lovers with no chance than to move on! JOIN THE NEW THREAD n let us all usher in the Golden generation. |
Sir. T. Can you add THE GOLDEN GENERATION to d thread's topic. |
Here we go again... But this time around with a Golden Generation full of super talents. |
TheGoodJoe:Leaving Siasia @ the helms ain't a problem but history tells us that Nigeria coaches don't learn from their mistakes, de don't even learn from others mistakes too. I CALL THIS 'ARROGANCE AND Stubborness' Note: Nigeria WILL play one of the Africa football power(Egypt, Ghana, Ivory coast, Algeria Cape verd or Morocco) enroute to Russia 2018. We can't afford to miss that one too. So a drastic action needs to be taken by employing competent hands. |
*not happy* I didn't want to comment before. Some of the boys tried. But we missed it from the word 'go'. The line-up wasn't just it. My p-man will always say "forget about those indigenous coaches they lack d stuffs to lead a national team n He'll simply ends it with- They're all thesame". Ethnicity, bribery, hatred, arrogance etc are their banes and these makes them culprit of repeated failures. In recent time, non of these indigenous coaches have done anything spectacular! Individual player brilliancy has been covering their shame. I know someone will make mention of keshi. Well Enyeama, Moses, Mba, Mikel n Emmanuel's brilliancies won us that Afcon.Shaibu too is a tribalist, his worldcup qualification was d result of Martins brilliant brace in Nairobi. Siasia came into d seen in 2012 and everyone was hopeful. then fought the big guns(Enyeama, Osaze n Mikel) in the name of 'Discipline' you all knew what happened. I'm not saying this to disrespect n degrade our own but it seems our local coaches are not ready for the bigger stage. I'm hereby joining other advocators(Safarigirl, forgiveness etc) for a SOUND foreign coach to handle our national team. *sobs* *closes the door* *gently walks out f d room* |
Though, school as a means and tool of educating people has taken/withdrawn the free will to choose what to learn and what not to learn away. Thereby, leaving people with no choice than to face curriculums filled with junks that will never be applicable in real life. But for the sake of light at d end of every tunnel. "A time will come as said by Dr. Buckminster Fuller, when proper education of children by a glorified system of spontaneous education of choice, similar to the Montessori system, will be made possible." i.e children will be allowed to decide what they wanna learn. And this might just be the hope of d society. My thought though. |
zuchyblink:Goodness!!! *places both Hands on my head* abeg where did u jam d news? If d news is anything to go by. Then the match will be a do or die affair in Egypt. It's either we win or forget about AFCON2017. Let us hope it's a rumour. |
Icon4s:Make I bring out my calculator. PERMUTATION AND COMBINATION as usual! Our boys gave the egyptians a good fight but de laid down their weapons and slept off in the latter stage of d encounter. The most heart breaking moment is seeing them equalize in d final min of d game. Can't wait for the return leg in Alexandria. Onazi will be back then and musa can be drop to the bench for moses. But our chances to qualifier as one of the best loosers is slim considering the fact that only 2teams out of 13groups will make it as d best loosers. Let just hope we do d Impossible |
Make I join the train wey de go kaduna sharpaly Abok! shifts joorh my friend Mikron de come.... |
Orkpekyandega:this man don old o. How come he still de perform. |
Wow! Really happy we defeated the Brazilian u-23 team at their back yard wit our own u-23 team B(the exception of few players). Truly, Nigeria is experiencing a new era of football. Make super Eagles come cap the day with a reverberating victory! |
Nigerians, Africa and the world are about to see a rejuvenated SUPER EAGLES. I love the atmosphere in camp, I love the team spirit and finally I love the way d technical crew led by coach Siasia handled the 'captaincy issue' and d way Musa presented d reign of a new captain-I called that maturity... No wonder Siasia named this eagles 'THE BRAND NEW SUPER EAGLES'... Abeg Help give these people 3 GBOSAAA!!! Now to Captain John Obi Mikel. This is the moment to pay back siasia and most especially Nigerians for their trust in u. Congratulations to the Balogun of the new brand super eagles. We all hope your reign last long. |
Kudos to you folks for keeping the thread alive! I'm definitely sure that Siasia is presently confused on who and who to make the starting line-up 4 d game against the pharaohs of egypt come friday evening. Following the news comin from d eagles' camp. The players are in high spirit and hopefully we should be able to have a decent game... A win in kaduna and a draw in cairo won't be a bad game though. |
Jarus:ah... I come check your profile then I know se you be baba for nairaland o. But how come just make your discovery? Anyway you're welcomme Sir |
zuchyblink:truely Nigeria will be seeing the rise of another Golden generation of football stars! Keep it up bro |
TheSuperNerd:Okido. |
I just realised that today is TheSuperNerd's birthday on nairaland. Happy birthday to you Dave! wishing you the best in the coming years. But wait o o, I thought you celebrated one last october.*smiles* Anyway enjoy yourself |
chrisooblog:Jedijedi ke? Mba! Don't mind Sir forgiveness. He is always funny with his selection always calling for players on loan @clubs in lesser european leagues. Justifying his point wit more game time. |
Na wa o o o. See players... Nigeria is blessed with talents. Imagine 10 top notch players fighting for a role(CF) in d Olympic's team. Siasia n his crew get work o. A player's ability won't guarantee him a place in d team. It will go beyond this. Other factors like attitude, leadership skill, adaptability to d coaches philosophy, commitment etc don't for get their 'club releasing them' factor will play a vital role on who n who will be on board for the Rio Olympics. Wishing Siasia d best but he has no room for selection excuse. What an 'array/avalanche(joseph1013' of stars he has! |
Governments, that preach peace, but endorse war, that say they believe so much in the importance of higher education and further learning Then why increase tuition fees every single year? I believed Miss Jefferson when she took me into the office, said that my exams would be imperative to my success Because we were taught to always follow when Miss Jefferson led Then I took Jefferson out of the equation and learned to think for myself I realized, we were always taught to follow when misled Huh, the irony! Test us with tests, but the finals are never final Because they never prepare us for the biggest test which is survival! And what I suggest is fairly outlandish So I don't expect everyone to understand this Except for the kid that knows what it feels like to be worth no more than that D or that A that you get on results day And the ones whose best stories were never good enough for your English teacher Because apparently you missed out key literal techniques Did not follow the class plan, And the language was too "informal" for him to understand But then he'd reference Hamlet and Macbeth And you'd fight the urge to express your contempt by partially clenching your fist with only your medius finger left protruding in the middle of your hand And asking if he was aware that Shakespeare was known as the innovator of slang Or the kid at the back of the class who thinks: " Why am I studying something that doesn't fuel my drive? " But when confronted with a maths problem his eyes come alive So this one is for my generation, the ones who found what they were looking for on Google, the ones who followed their dreams on Twitter, Pictured their future on Instagram, accepted destiny on Facebook. This one's for my "failures" and "dropouts", for my unemployed graduates, my shop assistants, cleaners and cashiers with bigger dreams, My self-employed entrepreneurs, my world-changers and my dream- chasers! Cause the purpose of "Why I hate school, but love education "was not to initiate a worldwide debate, But to let them know that whether 72 or 88, 44 or 68, We will not let exam results decide our fate Peace. ~SULI BREAKS |
I came about this poem written by Suli Breaks and I felt like sharing it to help heartbroken students who failed this year's Jamb and others that to whom it concerns. I hope it serves as a balm to the wound caused by the 'SYSTEM'. I Will Not Let An Exam Result Decide My Fate Right now There is a kid finishing Parents' Evening in a heated discussion with his mother Saying, why does he have to study subjects he will never ever use in his life? And she will look at him blank-eyed, stifle a sigh, think for a second and then lie She'll say something along the lines of: "You know to get a good job, you need a good degree and these subjects will help you get a degree, we never had this opportunity when I was younger". And he will reply: "But you were young a long time ago, weren't you mum? " And she won't respond although what he implies makes perfect sense that society's needs would have changed since he was 16 But she will ignore him, grip his hand more sternly and drag him to the car What she doesn't know is that she didn't ignore him just to shut him up She didn't lie because they are just returning him from Parents' Evening And an argument in the hallway would look bad on her resume She won't lie because she had just spent the last one hour convincing a stern face teacher that she would ensure that her child studies more at home No! She will lie simply, because she does not know any better herself Although all her adult life, she has never used or applied Pythagorean theorem, Pathetic fallacy, and still does not know the value of "X" She will rely on society to tell her that her child, who has one of the sharpest minds in the school, is hyperactive, unfocused, easily distracted and wayward Students! How many equations, subjects and dates did you memorize just before an exam never to use again? How many "A" grades did you get, which were never asked for when applying for a job? How many times have you remembered something 5 minutes just after the teacher said: "Stop writing" Only to receive your results a month later to realize that you were only 1 mark short of the top grade? Does that mean remembering 5 minutes earlier would've made you more qualified for a particular job? Well, on an application form it would have We all have different abilities, thought processes, experiences and genes So why is a class full of individuals tested by the same means? So that means Cherrelle thinks she's dumb, because she couldn't do a couple sums And if this issue is not addressed properly, it then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy Then every school has the audacity to have policy on equality Huh, the irony! Exams are society's methods of telling you what you're worth But you can't let society tell you what you are Cause this is the same society that tells you that abortion is wrong, but then looks down on teenage parents! The same society that sells products to promote nature hair, looks and smooth complexion with the model on the box, half photoshopped, and has fake lashes and hair extensions With pastors that preach charity, but own private jets Imams that preach against greed, but are all fat Parents that say they want "educated kids" but constantly marvel at how rich Richard Branson is, ...to be continued |
Icon4s:a players progress is a systematic all round improvement in his footballing career(which involves graduations in d grade teams, signing of professional contract either home or abroad, been capped @ d senior level etc. Albeit of the above a more significant yardstick in judging a player's progress is how he/she 'fair in the transfer market during transfer windows between his developing years mostly(18-28yrs). |
Icon4s:I said 'MOST' not all of them didn't leave up to expectation. Playing in europe(lesser leagues) or been capped @ d national team should not be d only yardstick to measure d progress/performance of a whole set f grade teams. You all know how promising these guys were. Well since time is still on their side... We all hope de re-invent themselves in d round leather game |
tbaba1234:The '09 u-17 sets that paraded d likes of Olarewaju Kayode, Edafe Egbedi, Sanni Emmanuel(the super sub), Stanley Okoro(who was den tagged as Nigeria version of Messi), Paul d shot stopper(that dude throws ball n reaches d opponents half wit his hands) onazi(no one ever tot he 'll go far in his career after his lackluster performance against Germany) and d rest were just bunch of flukes who shone and went into oblivion. Nigerians tot they will be d next generation of a super talented Eagles but most of them failed to live up to expectation just like d 2007 set of Chrisantus n co... Those years were years of AGE CHEATING, no wonder we've not been able to pull a strong national team till now. 'WHATEVER A MAN SOW; HE SHALL REAP' |
blueto:Two words for you Sir. "THANK YOU" Hope se na art related course you de study for that side sha? Happy sunday |

I had compiled my list before I remembered etebo. Like your list I will put him in place of I. Matthew. On onazi he hasn't had a great season plus Siasia not playing him in Alexandria speaks volumes.
