“People go to Africa and confirm what they already have in their heads and so they fail to see what is there in front of them. This is what people have come to expect. It’s not viewed as a serious continent. It’s a place of strange, bizarre and illogical things, where people don’t do what common sense demands.” – Chinua Achebe

“Nigeria is not a nation. It is a mere geographical expression. There are no ‘Nigerians’ in the same sense as there are ‘English,’ ‘Welsh,’ or ‘French.’ The word ‘Nigerian’ is merely a distinctive appellation to distinguish those who live within the boundaries of Nigeria and those who do not.” [From Path to Nigerian Freedom by Obafemi Awolowo]

some yaribas are bloody animals, for someone to mocking dead biafran children that will tell you how mentally unstable they are, they are not our people period.
LOL see who is talking, dem-people

When did yorubas mock dead baifra children ? Or any group in Nigeria mock ndi igbo people ?

some of you post from your a55es at times it makes me wonder if you igbos on Nairaland are mentally ok, I mean mentally sound to have a sane or sensible discussion.

You people were posting on how MKO and Awolowo died on rat poisons according to your words, then the yorubas on NL said the same thing that would hurt your feelings as well, then you are calling them animals huh

Does that make sense to you, yaribas as you called them are mouthy people and they don't take it likely if YOU OR ANY GROUP insults the people they respect. I am sure you have studied history books and know the characteristics of ethnic ethnic group.

If you insult the people they respect, they would hit you harder, FACT there is no running away from that.

In fact they are even nicer compared to northerners, THEY WOULD KILL YOU AT THE SPOT even if it is another kanuri or hausa man.

Northern, ( Kanuri people ecspecially) don't take it likly if you insult the leaders they love and respect. FACT

I am just telling you so you do not cry foul when it hits you back harder.

@ Abagworo my friend

I see your point and I have lived in anambra before so I kind of get where you are coming from.

Now instead of talking of the problem, I rather give a solution to Igbo people and I know you would thank me later for this.

Now Igbos are republicans in nature and are very very individualistic. When you look at an average Igbo man or woman, you see a sense of individual pride where a man believes he is his own king.

In fact I can say, different clan believe they are supririor to the next door clan while others believe it is a sort of competition.

Needless to say, this trace in Igbo people CAN WORK TO AN ADVANTAGE.

One, the new state creation SHOULD NOT GROUP WHOLE CLANS of people into just one state. There should be overlaps, lets say the ngwas should be in Imo and Abia.

2. Ndigbo should FIRST go back to monarchy system where other Monarchy would see higher Leader than them. This higher monarchy should not come from Anambra, Enugu or Abia. The monarchy should come from Ebonyi thus the Ebonyi people have a sense of identity and higher propose and the Anambra, Enugu and Abia which I believe have supirority complex should honor this agreement.

3. Ndigbo have to accept ONE HISTORY of there people even if it does not seat comfortablly with others. I mean right now there are the Nri and Awka believe, this can be changed to just Nri.

4. Other states should deposit and make just ONE OF THE SE states a meeting point. Likely IMO state not anambra because you do not want others feeling supiror

I am sure you know these things.

THE WORSE MISTAKE NDIGBOS would make is comparing themselves with other groups. I have said it.

okwu a di omimi. hmmmm ndi igbo echere o !!!!!

My fellow Igbos, I want to use this medium to ask you guys to stop bringing yoruba people into our discusions. Do you think they care abt your unity ? Isnt this the same people who make mockery of how innocent Igbo women and children were masacrered in the war! The only thing they care about is your BEAUTIFUL women, thats only when they kiss your Bottom! Do not allude them dignity by using them to make examples. It gives them great joy that Igbos mentioned them. But you guys will not listen, until they start insulting us. I have never in my life seen yoruba people as  important. I have lots of them as friends and they know we Igbos are more mannered and inteligent than most of them.  Leave these lots alone and stop discusing them. Left for me alone, I will device means to overpower them economically and bring them to their knees. Igbos learn, learn and learn !!!!
I really want to know when yorubas made fun of dead or dying children ?

You seem to be thinking of yorubas so much that u are illusinating about them even in your dreams cry cry cry

I wanted to comment on the same isssue yesterday when andre uweh started comparing igbo to yorubas but decided to let him contiune in his folly and stu.pididty. Only for others too to join him in this silly act.

I am glad you are part of the igbos that don't exhibit this sort of complex

very silly thing indeed.

different cultures have different system, to which each system is specific for there own culture and works well for them.

There is NO BASES of comparison but andre and others WOULD NEVER LEARN.

only for them to be saying the yorubas to leave this thread, Well sorry too late, you called there ethnic group and they would NOT ALLOW FALSEHOOD TO BE WRITTEN ABOUT THERE ETHNIC GROUP. FACT!!!!!!!.

really people need to grow up and stop this silly comparison. IT IS NOT A COMPETITION.

I have notice how passionate you are on Innoson issue and employment. Good one sir!

isn't it funny how KIA started the same way

even ford in dagenham UK, that is how it started cry cry. I guess I was right that Nigeria is f up

people would not just patronised if there are no conditions to it.

I mean people love what they are used to eg toyota nissan etc

if there is a condition of which the imported cars are reduced by 50% or more and heavlly taxed then they would be forced to patroinised there company

I've seen the cars in their stable, and I have to say, these Innoson guys are really good. It's a pity the Federal Government is so short-sighted as not to know the potentials these guys have. Instead of encouraging home-made products by patronizing them, they foolishly go for foreign products. Let Nigeria keep fooling herself. The rest of the progressive countries in Africa (SA, Botswana, Gabon, Mauritius) are advancing while we're still acting like cavemen.
If we no patronize our products, who else go do am for us? Now wey China be World's number 2, how do they think they got there? Abi dem no sabi say na these little little things great nations dey start from?
Oh well. Issorait.
VERY CORRECT SIR.

the clueless, Fg and State governments even the local ones are a BIG DISGRACE TO NIGERIA.

Big shame on Nigeria. The government needs to set up a regulatory body to watch the health and safety issue concerning the cars.

also I guess Innoson has to put more awareness to the public. I mean advertisements etc in Lagos and other major cities

Anybody who managed to enter that Innoson Buses will never choose to enter another bus except Innoson. I entered the bus this week in Enugu and was more than happy. The will rate the bus higher than the BRT buses I enter in Lagos. The seats and its arrangement was killing, the AC, the CCRT(sorry 4spelling) and the small monitor tv, was awesome. While small buses were collecting N50 they were collecting N30 with all the comfort. I think the marketing of this product is poor coz I dont see while anybody would not choose this vehicles over those Chinese. I would be glad to see sports car of the Innoson brand. If I have my way I would market these products free of charge.
I can Imagine

It so happens that I have not entered one before but I am sure it can not be worse than toyota and co that are mass produced in factories. In fact from ur description I suspect it would be way better.

What I expect the government to do is

1. Invest in Innson cars and be collecting a certain percentage of the profit apart from taxes
2. Reduce Importation of cars and increase taxes on cars at the port.
3. set up Innoson branches all over the country like Kogi for steel, enugu (I know it is there already and also anambra) for coal used at the steel mine, Ogun ,kaduna, delta and sokoto/kano for employment.

Once this is done, watch as Unemployment will fail to 4 % or so.

Is Innoson able to build the same kind of busses at the same or lower price than the Chinese?
Yes in fact there was an article I brought out sometimes this year that the same Bus bought by one of the governors in Nigeria for 5 million or so can be bought from Innoson cars for 2 million this about 60 % savings.
BusinessRe: FG Spends N5 Billion On 'Made In China' Buses, Ignores Local Auto Makers by aljharem3: 9:42pm On Nov 09, 2011
He, therefore, called on President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene and ensure that the procurement is channeled inwards, in line with a Federal Government gazette issued in April this year which compels all government orders to be placed locally. Apart from the new Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Limited (IVM), Nnewi, Anambra State, which impressed President Goodluck Jonathan with its array of sundry buses (mini, midi, intra-city and inert-city) being produced when he commissioned the plant exactly one year ago (on Friday, October 15, 2010), there are other domestic auto plants that also make buses in the country.

However, due to lack of patronage, some of them produce only upon receiving specific orders which rarely come their way these days. Contacted on phone early in the week, the Chairman of Innoson Group, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, confirmed that no effort was made by the labour leaders or their representatives to contact his Nnewi plant to build the buses. “There is no type of bus, whether for city shuttles or longer distance transportation, that we cannot build at IVM. And individual transporters and state governments that have purchased our buses are satisfied with their performance. So, why go abroad?
People should read this part and understand that the so called JOB creation the government have been spending Billions on can be done by just investing in this company.

GEJ I know u are trying but please reduce the Importation of buses and cars by 50 % so that people would patronise there indigenous car company.

Think of it GEJ, the money more money this company gets, the faster you would be able to pay those goons you call ur friends.

at the end of the day, it is tax for YOU !!!!

Back to the topic, every region in Nigeria can stand on their own if they have visionary leaders that will lead unselfishly. the north can invest heavily on agriculture and can stand on their own very well. they can invest in education and change the way the average man on the street thinks. i served in maiduguri and i remember how we used to go from house to house begging parents to send their kids to school even providing school materials and bags for them and yet they refused.

If they are able to keep Islamist extremist at bay and the current northern elite are wiped out, the north ca be a shining example of self sustainability.

Lol, you don't need an a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction to 'correct some things' in Nigeria as you put it. You need a fair president who will listen to every one. So far GEJ is doing that pretty well. Change has come!

And that is why many of you scheming lots are trying to frustrate him.

We might as well go for Mark, David Mark, if power should go back to the 'North.'
PointB aka Ezeuche , you are quite a character. I must say I admire some of your post and It remains me of Someone important in alaigbo
with that said, when I said correct something; I did not mean you would be fair per say

correct something = Making Nigeria under Igbo supremacist rule

that was why I added the quotation mark

Not that it is bad persay but the problem is after some years, people would start complaining and moreover, those people you put in those position would be /might be as corrupt as HELL !!! but you don't care, so long as they are Igbos, you would be alright with that.

for example, you mentioned David Mark

Everyone knows David Mark is one of the most corrupt person in the country, In fact he is on the same league as OBJ and co but still you prefer David Mark because he is a Christian.

No one is trying to frustrate GEJ, GEJ is trying to frustrate US. If you are in Nigeria you would understand my point.

Not that he is that bad but So far the worst of all the president we have had in 12 years of democracy .
