Do you have Chinua Achebe's volumes, most importantly 'There was a country'?
delpee: It means that she is asymptomatic. She won't develop symptoms but can infect others sadly.
You get power to explain. A lot of youths are actually too lazy to read, do research and learn basics about this virus, but would rather spread rumours and propaganda.
chiddyok: Poor woman. Maybe it’s her meat or even your brother’s own that she sacrificed for you in this covid era that the little money we earn is not enough. But no. Let her go and rob Fulani for cow for your royal meatjesty. Fear God. You might have daughters some day, think about that next time she serves a whole you, almighty in-law one meat. Winch.
SpaceX in collaboration with NASA and the United States have sent a 2-man crew to the International Space Station.
Here's my take:
1. The United States has recorded a ground-breaking achievement in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic. US recorded one of the highest deaths but this did not deter them from reaching this height.
2. Nigerian politicians have messed up our country. That's a fact! I can't emphasize more on this.
3. Nigerian youths will crowd this forum to bash and castigate the government for not making us great. 50-60% of youths blame the government for joblessness but the same youths refuse to study relevant courses in the tertiary institution that will earn them a chance to Excel in life or contribute to the advancement of the nation. The scientists at NASA are engineers, physicists, mathematicians, economist's, chemists, aerospace scientists, etc. Even Elon Musk himself is a renowned physicist.
NIGERIAN youths will earn degrees in religious and cultural studies, social studies, theatre arts, pre-primary education, etc. and still come to Nairaland to blame the government.
My argument is not one-sided in case anyone wants to bash me. I admit that we have a silly government, but the citizens, especially youths are equally silly.
Some folks here claim that the US is a sane clime and wish to fly there at the slightest opportunity. Days ago, the same folks bashed the sane clime for the extrajudicial killing of Floyd.
The United States and other advanced nations welcome people who have something to offer. For now, a great percentage of Naija youths really have nothing to offer.
rentAcock: Abroad people call me every weekend asking me to send money (not bragging). Many of them are frustrated over there. They work long hours including overtime but the government takes federal, state, city, social security, medicare, medicaid and disability taxes. On top of that, when they buy biscuit, they will still take sales tax. They pay exorbitant rent; those who "own" homes are locked in a loan repayment for 30yrs of which they still have to pay annual taxes for their house. Phone bill can cost over $60 per line, cable $120, internet $80 and they still pay tax on top of it. Burger and chips with soft drink can easily cost you $16 plus tax.
Sure some folks are making over $100,000 theoretically especially healthcare workers in expensive states like California and new York, but by the time they deduct all those taxes from their check, they are left with just $40,000. Then they still have to pay more taxes on every thing they buy. That's not life. It's like a rat wheel, oscillating but not making any progress. I have a cousin who was in the same situation in America, after 10yrs working as a social worker, he returned home and we started up a business. He still regrets all the years he spent slaving away in America. Today, he travels the world on vacation and visiting places he didn't even have time to visit when he was living abroad. It's not too late for Nigerians living abroad to return home; you can make it big here with less stress and you will extend your life span.
God bless you richly for this!
Infact a crate of beer for you. I've been trying so hard to explain this to people, but I guess who no go nor go fit understand.
If not for our useless leaders, Nigeria is the place to be! The western world is just an endless rat race with frustrated racists everywhere.
Olalan: As much as I condemn cheating by men or women.....the video shows how much of a weakling the man is......a wife slapping the husband not once not twice..... BTW I wouldn't be surprised if the woman's nasty and troublesome character pushed the man out to find love elsewhere
when you born your own no strict oo... go to hustle in the painful harsh Nigerian work environment, with angry bosses shouting at you, working you like slave, just to earn salary to feed and cloth some child, also watch your painful blood investment go down the drain without any repremand
Drinking Alcohol, smoking weed and partying doesn't mean you are bad or don't have home training , you barely explored your options like every teenager in college world wide mostly do, and you out grown it, it was a phase and you passed it .. I bet your dad passed it, even Buhari was reported by his peers to be a chain smoker and a womaniser
Now what I would call bad is if you joined a cult group, became a butcher, killed many people to count scores, completely abandoned your education and robbed, raped and molest people .. that's bad, not drinking and ruining your own liver, or tweaking your ass at the club just to get laid
Kudos to your father that instilled that fear in you, made you have conscience and sense to know what you did was bad.. many don't even have that guilt, Burna Boy's father smokes weed with him, his mother was a nude dancer with fella, he was charged to court in UK for stabing a teenager, still yet he feels absolutely no remorse and keeps doing stupid stuff, because his father and mother didn't make him see some things are bad as long as you make money they are fine with you
LordKO: Don't mistake strict parents for oppressive parents - offspring of the former always turns out well, especially if the offspring isn't innately insane.
Strict parents do train their offspring to exercise their liberty and live life within the confines of decorum. While oppressive parents do train their offspring to live life within the confines of their self-interest and wishes, thereby denying them liberty and, by extension, make them disingenuous.
Pseudo/wannabe libertarian parents, on the other hand, usually turn out to breed crass and expedient offspring, because in the cause of forming woke, they allow their offspring to live life and exercise their liberty on the periphery of decorum.
Strict parents are literally the true libertarians - strict parents are akin to conscientious parents.
Vyvyanvyvy: Thanks for nice advice. You are right my son has become a thief due to the way my sister in law has being treating him , depriving him from food and many bad things the boy had no other choice than to steel. Since I’m alive I want him to be with me and I will take good care of him
I really feel for your son and you. It's not your fault u are caught in between caring for ur children and husband. However ur Son needs you now than ever. He may end up hating you eventually if you can't risk all for him right now.
It is heartbreaking right now but the truth is you have to take care of all your children. Get him to go to boarding house, and only come home during break. Maybe your husband will accept that option.
We4all: I think the heading should be:"My sisters are desperately searching for husband after gallivanting with men".
Now to the main point, what is wrong if a lady decides to search for a husband? Is it a crime to do so? What is so important and unique about marriage that it becomes a big deal and topic of discussion if a lady decides to search for a life partner?
It's okay for a man to say that he is trying to make money;or that he is looking for a wife, but when a woman decides to look for a husband, it becomes an issue. How myopic and shallow minded! This is typical of Africans(especially Nigerians)and this mentality sucks.
Look little kid (Cos u reason like a child), try to embrace a more sophisticated mentality and stop being petty. The issue of a woman searching for a husband should be the least of your worries. Concentrate and build a nice and well structured family.
Then if u have female kids, groom them so they can get married in their 20's. Even if their prospective suitor is a gangster, teach them to endure and make them understand that the most important thing in life is marriage.
God bless you richly this year 2020
With people like you, there's still hope for our future!
PS; Only God knows who raised these current bunch of myopic males with wack hypocritical mentality we have around
Stereotyping women at the slightest opportunity!
Well I don't blame them, most of them are teenagers with initial foray into sex, access to internet with parents still responsible for their upkeep, so the initial gra gra, the need to broadcast to your peers that you had sex therefore you are suddenly an authority on women matters!
By the time they grow up "mentally, emotionally, financially, and experience wise" , have female children I'm sure y'all would quit this special broadcast on "Nigerian women" on nairaland
eminemkayc: 'Their' and 'There' are not one and the same. A lot of horrible english on the internet and no one appears to be raising an eyebrow on this growing concern.
Lightangel65: Gross I don't need this kind of advice. I don't do these kind of suffs I was just making a comment. I don't know why sleeping with people should be an achievement. It should be a disgrace.
Tnk u oh
Children of nowadays be going about bragging about "sex conquests" while their mates are innovating and changing the world!
Later they will come crying "my wife is earning more than me, she has taken over, help"
Ur mates were hustling, studying, you were on nairaland "kissing and telling"
merahki: @ bolded, But why are these women going through this “ a lot”? Why are they figuratively and almost literally eating “shit”? Why are they erasing their personhoods? Why can’t they make use of choices that empower the soul? When nobody is forcing them?
@ cancelled, quite unnecessary, the curses. God blesses and doesn’t punish. God gives us choices and the lives we want for ourselves. For every misogynist and sanctimonious “fool” there is an enabling, desperate and willing partner with them so should we curse them too? My thoughts sha, cheers
oscarow1234: Woman remember your vow... For better, for worst. Leaving your husband now simply means you don't ❤️ him. Stand with him now, you both should pray together and better still take him to your pastor for a special deliverance. Do all diz, and you will have your home .
Nairalanders and double standards, spits#
She doesn't love her husband because she wants to leave, but if it was the other way round y'all be screaming different names at her already and telling the husband to send her packing!
And she will still be the one running from pillar to post to solve a problem the man plunged the home into, along with all her chores and roles at home
Jokerman: I only shouted at the security man once coz I asked him to do something. He didn't coz I believe he's listening to talks. I have always asked him to flash my number when he doesn't understand something Buh he wouldn't... The next time I asked him to do something, and he refused blatantly, that's he's doing his job and his reason in front of other staff was that he didn't like the way I talked to him.. I wanted to call his company Buh my mom is saying I shouldn't although I would still change him
I feel he's feeling he's older than me, and I can't be ordering him around.
I stopped the collection of fees by this staff because they were using the money anyhow, borrowing other staff money and other people in the vicinity, so much it became a laughing stock. So when I assumed this post, I sent bulk messages to all our parents that school fees to any staff is stopped. Some found it hard to stop, hence why I introduced strictness
Now they go spoiling me this and that. I hear this stuff but I pay no attention to that. At my front, they behave, at my back, Na so so talk
