meobizy:Most have no idea what CPR is. CPR is only as good as how soon paramedics arrive to provide professional care. Or get to hospital. Many hospitals have no defibrillators even. Others are afraid that the police might frame them up if found doing CPR. Wahala dey. My brother, if you can organise First Aid training for people in your family, hood, old schools attended and your town in 9ja, you will have contributed your little qouta. |
Honestly, for poo matter, Lasgidi na heavy weight champion. Right from time. It has become part of the culture. It will cost a lot to build enough free public toilets, perhaps 20 thousand, that can be flushed down correctly across swathes of Lagos. If not totally free, many won't use them. There are many other dirty towns across 9ja but Lagos takes the biscuit in poo poo dirt. |
Duru009:Either way, na gamble for all the candidates. Ignoring any zone would be unwise. Reduced chances of rigging could make things very unpredictable as we saw in Osun State. 2023 could be close like 1979 election that Shagari only very narrowly won. If closer than 1979, a run off election may become necessary. Perhaps between the top two. Currently, Atiku, Tinubu or Obi could come third. In 1979, Shagari got more votes in Rivers State than in Bauchi and his home state Sokoto. Cross River even gave him more votes than Kaduna, Gongola and Kwara States. |
Duru009:He's rich and connected enough. He will be fine. Either way, politically, his presidential ambition is gone. So, nothing to lose. Wike now seeks soft-landing. In case Tinubu wins, he won't face EFCC. He might even get a seat in FEC under Tinubu. It might even give him the chance to seriously spite Rotimi Amaechi if he becomes a prominent in APC player. ![]() I would have supported Tinubu 7 or even 3 years ago. He would have done better than Buhari. He's too old now. |
troubleshooter:My brother, the way shares showed me shege, word cannot explain. The magic and abracadabra they did with re-issuing and all shenanigans with it still baffle me. All in the name of believing in our dear corn-tree. If I hadn't any experience elsewhere with shares, I for take am as normal. I even openned 9ja accounts for the kids. All to make them identify more with 9ja. To be old customer of so called leading bank in the future. At least, you will want to go to where you have financial interest. Or so was my thinking. But 9ja system always rub it in your face that dem nor care about your loyalty. |
wonder233:During Wenger's time at Arsenal, anyone over 30 was given only a year's contract. He did well in EPL until Russian and Middle Eastern money flooded EPL. Not every player does well in their 30s. Even some of the best suddenly find themselves struggling to do what they did easily on the field just a few months earlier. Frank Rijkard, Jurgen Klinsmann, Marco van Basten, Patrick Kluivert, Didier Deschamps and Emmanuel Petit all retired in their early 30s. Only Kluivert didn't win the World Cup, European Cup or both among them but he won Champion's League. I watched at least one live game involving these players. Platini and George Best are older ones that retired early too. Van Basten was due to injury. One of the finest players I ever saw and he played in Milan. Kluivert also suffered chronic injuries. |
Karleb:Most of those women are even worse than the men they choose. Forget their manipulative victimhood. If not, what happened to all the good guys she must have turned down to accept this one? Perhaps this guy told the best lies, showed off or bragged the most and she fell for it. ![]() |
UniversalDove:He might even do worse than his dad in the future. The dad is a fool too. He uses profanity discussing with his son. Poo role model. I can't imagine the lady ever saying anything good about their dad to those kids. I can imagine the boy ignoring their dad's call normally. Otherwise, a boy of 13 is big enough to tell his dad his shoe/clothe size. A lady applauding a boy's rude behaviour can't be a very decent mum either. And even proud to share it with the whole world. This is the kind of woman who denies a man access to his kids and later claim dad is deadbeat. A friend is going through this at the moment. She would want all the money and goodies from the man but won't adhere to arrangements agreed on for access to kids. |
dochenaj:Nunez has been good enough since he arrived. He needs to be more disciplined, keep his cool, have more belief and make better decisions in the opposition box, when to go it alone or pass the ball. Most strikers experience this in their first season at a new club. With Gakpo and Nunez, LFC now have two good headers of the ball forward. With set pieces, Van Dijk, Konate and Matip can also chip in with a header or two. |
wonder233:Mane wanted to return to Germany. A good move for his career at 29. A slower league with last chance to cash out big. LFC could not afford two ageing stars in Salah and Mane on around £18 to 20m salary. Mane leaving made the choice of Salah easier. Remember that European clubs always doubt the football age of Sub-Saharan Africans. E22m salary is a gamble for Bayern at this point. Mane deserved around 200 to 250k weekly since around 2018 at LFC. I think his agent did a bad job. |
ruffDiamond:This is the problem. Most don't care about the average person on the street. Having said that, the lady's family deserve whatever huge sum they can get from the Police. Dem own too much. Only that what is good for the goose should be good for the gander. Lawyer or guguru ati epa hawker, if victim of police brutality, all should get equal and appropriate justice. We have been blaming the oldies (over 40s) for years for their failure to create a fair and just system. Gradually, we are now among or getting close to being among the oldies ruining the land. If we fail to act and take back 9ja now, in a few years, by God's grace, the next generation will be right to call us useless for same failure. We won't be considered better than those we have blamed for decades now. Because of apathy, inaction, sycophancy, tribalism, etc. |
umuna:Wow! This is great. How can you be sure that it is actually dwarf coconut when buying from a nursery? Where in Ogun is the dwarf breed supplier friend of yours? How many acres of land have you planted the 250 trees on? What is the risk of bush fire in that area? We planted some coconut trees around the house in the 1990s. Within 15 to 20 years they grew too tall and had to be cut down. Risk of falling over to damage the house or fence. They were supposed to be dwarf but grew very fast. The fruits were bountiful though and was a shame having to chop them down. Have you considered a coconut co-operative? Have you also considered oil palm? Thanks. |
Last time in Lekki, it was that Ojukwu girl and her TV boss sugar daddy. Now in Abuja, it's bearded Tochukwu and his sugar mummy/cougar. It seems both genders are perfecting their killing games. What greed will not cause does not exist. One difference here will be that Tochukwu won't be supported by any guys unlike Ojukwu girl who has a large female fan club on Nairaland and in real life. Man or woman, you can't eat your cake and have it. Humans should learn to avoid greed and be grateful. RIP to the victim. |
The swelling should ideally subside after about a month usually. The swelling is pretty normal initially. Chymoral is fine for the swelling/inflammation. Vitamin C is fine too, we need lots of it daily. Did he use ice pack at any point to help reduce it? Icepack for like 10 minutes every couple of hours or as instructed by doc would be ok, though usually in the days after the op. Is there any pain in the swollen testicle, redness, numbness, nausea, etc? If not happy with the situation, get a second opinion from another surgeon/expert. |
Okealaaye:That was good Salary then o. Murtala Mohamed came to power just a few months earlier. |
Very good explanation. Depending on dialect, ako can also be used directly in place of okunrin. Without any negative connotations. Good job. |
Well, dude, as far as we are concerned, you are a NL celebrity. lovely pics. But the little boy looks like adopted baby o. ![]() Let me do aproko own fess. By next Christmas, make the fam don grow o. |
greenermodels:In theory, yes. But students will really push new teachers, especially if African and with your accent, etc. Many African teachers just opt to be supply teachers, so that they can work in various schools and refuse to go back to the ones they don't like. My friend, just prepare yourself for anything. It applies to healthcare sector too. The vacancies are there for a reason. As far back as 1999, when a girlfriend's friend, 28 years old and senior nurse was quitting nursing, I was initially surprised. She was close to being made a sister. She became a drugs company rep. Better pay and more flexibility. When she explained that nursing was too stressful and poorly paid, I had to agree with her. Imagine how stressful it is today. Don't even mention midwifery. I know a guy who regrets not listening to his uncle's (a former Obs-Gynae turned GP in UK) advice not to continue with Obs-Gynae when he arrived in UK. But still, those still with the energy and hunger for any job will still get on with it, for better for worse. Those wey dey do am nor get two heads, according to 9ja survivalist mantra. ![]() |
greenermodels:Actually, worse than these happen o. A 9ja accountant friend wanted to be doing part time Maths teacher many years ago. His taster day in a school was so horrible that he changed his mind on doing PGCE. Students were throwing things around classroom, making loud noise, putting their feet on top of their desks, laughing, etc. Throughout the session. He said "I better quit before I murder some kids". ![]() This from a very determined and nice Igbo guy o. There are very good schools but they are more selective of both students and teachers. Remember that most African teachers will end up in inner city schools that have trouble recruiting and retaining local British teachers. Teachers of African descent should just prepare for the challenge ahead. It will be fairly easy for some but nightmare for others. |
owagbeba:True, these can be seen by some as arrogance and being too loud. But in general 9ja people are quite honest when expressing their feelings but the world values hypocrisy and call it "emotional intelligence" or diplomacy. Being honest gets us into trouble at times. Also note that some Nigerians can be nicer to non-Nigerians at times. Because some consider things to be a competition with fellow Nigerians. So lots of the things he said of fellow Ghanaians can be applicable among some Nigerians too. |
Horokrox:Any secondary school anywhere in the world that does not cover DNA double helix in Biology should be closed down biko. It is so basic and fundamental to who we are as humans. We covered the topic when doing inheritance, Gregor Mendel's work, alleles, chromosomes and genes. It must have been in Class 3 sef. Everybody did it before branching off to select WAEC subjects. Virtually everyone took WAEC Biology anyway. It is not Uni level thing. |
FarahAideed:He doesn't know that politics is a long game. Like or hate Tinubu, see how he has played the long game. Even if too old now. Tinubu 7 years ago would have been a great candidate. He should have supported PYO now. 8 years from now, Wike would be only 65. A young age by Nigerian geriatric political standards. Wike should have extorted a high office as minister or even SGF to support Atiku to win. If Atiku again reneged, na to wait for him in 2027. Wike should know that he can't win presidency. He's too radical, straightforward and antagonistic. Not ideal for national politics in a diverse country. |
jaxxy:The guy is a great footballer but seems not to be a very good person. Football saved the likes of him. He was caught on video telling a French teammate at Real Madrid not to pass ball to Vinicius Junior, that Vinicius is rubbish. Vinicius later scored the winning goal against LFC at the UCL Final. Whatever racism or discrimination he may have experienced growing up in France, black players have likely suffered worse. France did excellently well in the World Cup without him. It came down to penalty shootout. |
Word. |
shineeye1:Well, it is not the Japanese, Chinese or Koreans who colonised us, control us or tell us what we should do or not do. It is Western Countries. Tinubu did not go to Chat-Na-Ham House or Shi-Bu-Ya House but Chatham House in London to talk to international audience that have no vote in 9ja election. We know where woman take born baby when we tell am to carry waist near fire. ![]() |
Pastor you try, nice idea. But dudes, just try to work hard and pray to God to give you strength, good health and means to provide for your kids until they grow to be independent. Simples. ![]() When you cannot provide, you go know how far. Nor be human beings again? |
My hunch is that 25 years from now, the West will have strongarmed African leaders to universally accept gay marriage. We Africans always follow oyinbo, so we better start getting used to it. |
Robisky001:Gbam! Parents, siblings, kids, wives, religious mentors, neighbours, nieces and nephews of politicians are not alien or Martian people. They are us. Politicians are just like us. |
Lamasta:Sadly, those in power have the war chest to rig elections. It's not that simple in Africa to let people's vote actually count. |
Ogurube:That one join too but many other factors. Life abroad is more difficult and expensive now than at anytime in over 30 years. But when you tell those at home you will hear : "But bros you never pack your load come to back to live in 9ja". You can see envy mixed with never believing simple truth in that statement. Younger people coming abroad grew up in less communal settings in 9ja and are more self-centred compared to folks who left 9ja earlier from the 1970s to around 2005 to 2010. The parents/grandparents of the older diasporans are dying out and those that left kids in 9ja, their kids have grown or some even joined parents abroad already. Need to remit maintenance money is much less now. Many people I know have no parents any more in 9ja now. Dem nor too care anymore. The parents who made them tolerate the shenanigans of other relatives are no more. Insecurity in 9ja over last 7 years has put off many from investing in 9ja. Those already building houses before 2015/16 may have continued for a couple of years hoping things will improve or just to complete their project. Investing in a country you are not safe going to is unattractive. Many now feel they should hold on to their little change wherever they are. Many diasporans in their 50s to 60s are coming to terms with the fact that 9ja may never settle enough, insecurity, health care and basic amenities may never improve enough for them to retire home. The retirement houses they built or planned to build may never be needed. Their kids born and raised abroad certainly won't go back to 9ja to live. These have began to affect how people invest. Some abroad have realised that despite making much effort to spread money around to as many friends and relatives as possible, entitlement mentality and constant demands are getting worse. The impression is like " My uncle in London is too stingy, he sent me only N50,000, my auntie in US is useless, my friend in Belgium refused to buy me common iPhone and frequent Nairaland and social media threads attacking uncles and aunties abroad. People who are navigating life, raising kids, and extending a hand to support many in 9ja. Not appreciated. This trend may get even worse unless things improve. |
May all obstacles in our lives leave us in peace, whether friend, foe, man, woman or whoever. Amen! |
Napata77:Please, don't bother educating somebody unwilling to learn. Benin banned slavery centuries before so-called British abolition in 1807. Reason was simple, Benin needed to keep its population growing, to have enough Benin people to administer colonies and fight wars. Common sense. Territories that have certain internal affairs devolved to them decided to continue slave trade. Those people today deny being under Benin control but at least Lagos history still admits it. By 1740s, a French trader seeking slaves to buy recorded that of the roughly 100 slaves displayed for sale between Benin and Gwatto Port, all slaves and their sellers were non-Benin. They were primarily Igbo and Yoruba. That was a written confirmation of how Benin people within the empire were forbidden from buying or selling slave and being bought or sold as slaves. When Benin prohibited selling slaves, the Europeans imposed an embargo on buying pepper, ivory or other goods from Benin. In turn, Oba of Benin forbade any trade with the Europeans. So began the economic decline of Benin Empire and rise of Oyo Empire and became quite big in 1680s/90s. Oyo was the key slave trading state by now. Today, nobody gives Benin credit for halting slave trade much earlier than any European nation. People claim that Oba of Benin supported Eleko Kosoko who was a slave trader against Eleko Dosunmu, so Benin supported slavery. But slave trade was a devolved matter and provincial rulers and their people could decide what to do with themselves. Even if Oba wanted slavery stopped throughout the Empire and spheres of influence, how could he have policed such a large part of the Bight of Benin? Obas of Benin back then were pragmatic, astute politicians and made laws carefully. They made laws that could be policed mostly and not too much restrict the cultural practices of non-Benin parts of the empire. In any case, if the Oba already gave the instrument of office to a provincial ruler/duke, it was uncommon to remove such an instrument unless for some serious issues/violation/rebellion. Oba had no issues with Kosoko. It was the British, with their Royal Navy cannon guns at Lagos Harbour, threatening and fanning embers of division between members of the Eleko family to gain control of Lagos for Queen Victoria. Since Oba backed Eleko Kosoko, the British backed Dosunmu and ordered Dosunmu not to take orders from Benin anymore. This was in 1861. The British did not rest until until they attacked Benin in 1897, burned it down, looted treasures and removed the only true obstacle they faced in colonising the area now called Nigeria. Nigerian education is very faulty. Too many poorly enlightened "educated" people. Gregyboy UGBE634 Samuk Etinosa AutomaticMotors |
