Rexnegro:. Don't let ur gf stop using her inhaler just because she has no symptoms. Long term control is very important. It's not sexy/cool to be seen using inhaler but her life n well being are more important. It took me years to persuade a distant relative in 9ja to use inhalers. She was in denial. She didn't want the uncool label "asthmatic". Despite obvious symptoms. Evven serious at times. She uses it now and symptoms are largely gone. For years now. |
RIP. Perhaps poorly controlled asthma. It may have seemed to disappear lately n had no anti-asthmatic at home. Fake drugs. So many possible reasons. If there was good medical care and an ambulance had arrived and given her nebulised drug and iv, she might have survived. Likely another unfortunate young lady who was born in a country where nothing works. How many more of this shall we endure? The general public may soon have to get together and do things ourselves. Including healthcare. We already by our gen sets, sink our boreholes, do vigilante, etc. |

Budding livestock farmer. Thankx |
Nna, na wa o. God bless our teachers back then o. How will this madam teach her students properly? I guess she's one of those 6k/month school cert holders teaching in low end private schools. Teacher/cleaner. Wtf..... ![]() |
greatgod2012:. My friend if you believe that, then you can also believe there are red elephants in Kathmandu! .But there is one secret call nature. If you haven't got the natural skin, you can park a Dangote tanker of baby oil in your yard to use, it still won't cut it. What next? Omosexy, how did you get those hips? Oh I got the hips by doing meditation, yoga & eating Ondo yam. ![]() |
Skywalker5:. I know people who work in those agents and the qualification needed were clear before they applied. Clearly, if a person has no degree but has 5 or 10 years experience in a similar role, he's likely going to be considered as 10 years can even be equated with a master's degree. Roles that do not do compulsorily require specific acedemic degrees (like Vet, Med, Pharm, Nursing, Educ, etc) can be sometimes flexible. Nobody is saying you cannot get jobs without a degree. Even people are working in 9ja without degrees. But clearly, a sound degree gives an average person more options. I trained fully in Europe, both initial degree and later in a profession that gives you quasi an automatic employment. I'm very familiar with how previous coursemates (British, Irish, Scandinavians, continental Europeans,Japanese, Americans, etc) searched for work. I was even the only 9ja bred Nigerian during my degree course. So the idea of Nigerians making mistake about job search is a generalisation. True most of my ex-coursemates work in blue chip companies as far as I know. There were many career fairs in my university, with both blue chip and SMEs attending. Those who got 2.1 or 1.1 and a few with a very high 2.2 got those jobs on graduation. I remember the struggle of many 2.2 former coursemates, even from a Russel group university. As for experience, I did summer internship in a hospital. Mos of my foreign colleagues were enjoying their holiday. Even though I didn't even work with the degree before progressing to other training. Most academically minded Nigerians abroad are more enlightened about preparation/job search than you think. In seminars and other fora for CPD, there are always Nigerians there. For example, many TOP hospital managers I know have a decent degree in sociology, philosophy, management, etc. Only some older ones didn't have. |
Skywalker5:. Again you're quoting few cases which are exceptions these days. How many openings are there for apprentices in top telco companies? Don't 4get that until mid 90s, graduates were not that many. If some had technical training with Sky or BT 25 years ago, that was quite normal then. Most firms have graduate schemes now but very few apprentice scheme. Even most recruitment agencies and estate agents now require a degree. Just browse monster or guardian jobs. In any case, the topic wasn't about whether there is any need to go to uni or not but about degree class. If one thinks doing MCSE is enough to land well-paying IT jobs, why do a degree then? |
ichidodo:. Word. But the palm oil need 100% is not accurate. Nigeria's first NIFOR and HQ is near Benin on Edo state. Palm is popular plantation on Edo down to Delta. Urhobo traditionally process palm oil. Banga soup is very popular there still. Yes. East produces more palm oil than elsewhere. |

[quote Businesses have become highly competitive and you need the best team ( with the right combination of skills and personal aptitudes) to stand out. Ge, for example annually lays off the lowest performing 10th percentile of his employees. The Lesson is don't be caught napping. Make the hay while the sun shines. By the way, first class and and 2.1 are in limited numbers so I don't expect them to win this debate. On the flip side, success is not determined by grades. Your attitude determines your altitude.
. Word. It's not about winning the debate. The reality out there wins the debate on it's own. Citing a few outlier cases of success don't cut it. Bill Gates & Mark Zuckerberg were Harvard students. Now dullards are hardly Harvard candidates. It's cool to comfort oneself like this OP but the truth is that one had/has 3 to 4 years to get the best possible grade. Some get 2.1 without being super smart but by dint of hardwork and being meticulous. These attitudes are also desirable in most work places. Whereas some smart but lazy and carefree guys end up with lower grades. By and large most people end up with grades that indicate their level of academic ability. People then have the opportunity to use other skills to make up for any academic shortfall. Employment is not the only way to show off skills. |
Skywalker5:. That's not always true. The best jobs still go to 1.1 & 2.1. Even those jobs that advertise 2.2 minimum may eventually end up employing 2.1 and above only. A friend graduated from a top UK university with 2.2. He didn't get good jobs. Until he got his MSc. Bu I also know of a 1.1 girl from a top UK university who struggled to get a job initially (I guess it was her salary expectation) but landed a plum job later on. I was already advising her to go for a PhD before she got the job. Yes, it was still easier to skip MSc with a 1.1 then. |
princeofpeace22:. What about all those outmanoevered in PDP who decamped to APC like Amaechi, Kwakwanso, Saraki, El-Rufai & Co? They were brave , bah? Only in Nigeria does a party ruling for 16 years lose an election and it's overblown as a crisis. Are we not thereby encouraging ruling parties to sit tight even if they lose? I don't expect much from APC (hope they prove me wrong) because the same people who spent 8, 7 or 6 years as PDP senators, governors, ministers and so on now populate APC. Even Orubebe wants to join APC. Lol. A party shouldn't spend more than 8 to 12 years in power no matter how good they think they are. 16 years of PDP is already too much. Let another party have a go. |

henrysam:. That 9ja is an oil junky economy is not new. That governments since 1960 have mismanaged the economy is known to even KG1 children. With lower oil intake, the country is suffering from withdrawal symptoms. The same governors who demand sharing excess crude money on a chop and quench formular are among those lamenting that there's no money. Just because they have changed parties, they now criticise to no end. APC never outlined how they'll improve the economy during campaign. Let's hope they have something special up their sleeve. But lamentation ought to stop now. Their promises raised expectations to very high levels. No amount of lamentation will reduce it. They should now roll up their sleeve. |

Their service is nothing to write home about. Even an ocassional user like me gets frustrated by them. They seem to care only about customer figures, not quality of service. They see 9ja clients as a very undemanding and tolerant bunch. Judging by the antics of PHCN for example. |
kokomilala:. There's actually nothing wrong with jogging, it's a more intense exercise that is great for cardiovascular system. People do drop dead just walking around the house. We lost a relative 6 months ago. He slumped just walking at a normal pace. It turned out that he had a congenital heart condition! This was unknown/undiagnosed until he died. Like you said, get checked. Before beginning an intense exercise regime, get screened for cardiovascular conditions like HBP, palpitation, aortic aneurysm, claudication, coagulopathy etc. Also check risk of stroke through HBP/palpitation, family history, TIA and check for diabetes. We lost a 30 something years old finance high flyer some years back. A very fit and regular jogger. He was jogging one fine spring morning and suddenly slumped just like this man. He was brought in unconscious. As much as we tried, we couldn't save him. |
Jorussia:. Buhari has a massive mountain to climb. Obasanjo did more in 3 years as military head of State than 8 years as civilian president. If OBJ, a smart wheeler dealer & people's guy struggled badly, an austere and strict guy like Buhari will have more difficulties governing 9ja. If he can assert himself against Tinubu and give credible young guns key roles to play, and lure Ribadu back into the fold, he will have a good team. I will be watching Tinubu & Amaechi's relationship in 7D. If he solves electricity & security problems, reduce corruption & even minimally improve economy & employment situation, it will be Buhari and the masses AGAINST political jobbers /thieves. I will become an ardent supporter of GMB. |
darqly:Well, it's the regulators' job to ensure that only viable banks operate. Shareholders don't have to be economists or financial experts. Moreover, how many average investors can spot a book cooked by crafty banks? |
laurel03:. Na those gold-diggers dey quick find men na. ![]() |
buzquet:, Really? It seems you're attracted to bad news from 9ja overseas mostly. In recent weeks here on NL FP, a Nigerian won top graduation awards in a leading Japanese university, one was appointed head of a US College (universities are also sometimes called college in US), many I know are excellent medics/surgeons here in UK. Kids of 9ja people here are going to leading universities to read medicine, law and other challenging courses. My Europe-born niece is rising fast in top European bank, after law school. Nigerians are going places. Haters like to spread only bad news. |
Blackett:. But runz-girlism na one of such biznex na. ![]() |

Bifwoli:. Correct: OP seems to want to imply that money is all you need to be happy. And labourers and others who work very hard are in pursuit of sadness. So those who push gbana and kidnap can be excused because they too are in pursuit of happiness. Root causes I believe among others are: (1) Poverty: some are genuinely poor and seek an easy way out of it. Men/guys seems to be it. (2) Greed: Some are just greedy. They are not really poor but also not rich. But they want to live above their means, use latest gadget, etc. (3) Sense of entitlement: Some just feel that as a woman, because guys desire you, you deserve all the good things from them. (4)Love as a commodity: This is close to 3 above but a bit different. Love/companionship/sex are commodities that come with a pricetag. Like an iphone in a shop. You've to pay to get it. These people don't see themselves as call girls. The difference though is quite hard to decipher. A lady walking around with any of these orientations or combinations thereof (even subconsciously), is likely to find OP's piece perfectly normal. |
Me: Chai comrade, comrade. Na you biko. ![]() Osho Baba: Ah ah, you nor trust me? Me: Ah baba, I over trust you sef. This Iara set well well o. Osho Baba: Ehhen, correct guy. Nor be all those wey dey misspell her name as Lara up & down. Me: Babs, whether the babe name na Lara Croft or whatever, all we red-blooded men care about is that she be fyn geh. Fyn anyhow. Osho Baba: Your head correct well well. Me: But comrade, talking from man to man, comrade to comrade, how you manage pull this babe na? Osho Baba: Kikikikikikikikikikikiki! folabayo1:. Na wa o. Nothing some women nor dey carry waka. Right from Eve, na with only her too serpent waka come. |
To be honest, we need no excuses for future poor performannce. You guys used poor economy to campaign for change and won. You knew things were bad before asking for the mandate. You couldn't say you didn't know or prepare for it. To say the economy/state of finance is even worse than you thought after taking power is no excuse. Please you guys must deliver. |
