wow 9javoice did you grow up in the north?as for the sultan i guess he would be much more preoccupied with the boko haram issue that has entered sokoto than any other thing now. |
it seems they really love that 'healthy' enviroment. |
sheyguy: In all these jaga-jaga talk in this thread, no one seem to be addressing the issue of how to compensate the Yorubas/Western Nigeria. They were begged into joining Nigeria by other regions. They are the only major group of people who can really claim to be tired of Nigeriai guess you do not care about your origin.seems like you have not visited there for long.let the yorubas worry about themselves as i know they are more than capable of taking care of themselves. |
Farming population decline in Damaturu -- Investigation PDFPrintE-mail Written by NAN Tuesday, 07 August 2012 18:47 Share inShare SocButtons plugin The prevailing security challenge in Yobe has reduced the farming population in Damaturu, leading to a decline in agricultural activities, an investigation by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has revealed. Speaking with NAN on Tuesday, Malam Zakariya Mohammad, a civil servant and farmer, said: " Insecurity and the ban on the use of motorcycles which has been the major means of transportation to the farming communities contributed to decline in farming activities in the state.'' Abdullahi Usman, another farmer, said he had restricted his movement because of his experience in the previous violence in Damaturu. "I spent two days at the state secretariat during the June attack so, I have personally restricted my movement and that is why I am not farming this year. "There are several others who are not farming this year for fear of the unknown and the lack of transport," he said. Kaku Buba, a sesame seed farmer, also said he was relocating to his village in Bade local government and abandoning his farm due to the security challenge in Damaturu. "I have a relatively big farm around Kalalawa where I cultivate sesame seed but I am now going back to my village where I cannot obtain a farm of the same size and, where the pattern of rainfall is less." Meanwhile, some stakeholders have expressed fears that the prevailing security challenge coupled with the rainfall pattern and the effects of desertification, might affect harvest this year. NAN recalls that due to scarcity of foodstuff, the Yobe Government last year procured 12,000 bags of assorted grains which was sold to the public at subsidised rate under its Strategic Grains Reserve programme. http://dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/news/173759-farming-population-decline-in-damaturu-investigation |

It’s only in Anambra we’re harassed, intimidated-Arewa Renaissance LAST_UPDATED2 Monday, 06 August 2012 18:08 Tuesday, 07 August 2012 00:00 Written by Cyprian Ebele E-mail Print PDF •Farouk •Farouk These are certainly not the best of times for Northern indigenes, residing in Anambra State, under the aegis of Arewa Renaissance. The northern traders are unhappy with the state’s government plans to eject them from the bridge head in the state, where they used to sell and make their livelihood. They have described this plan as unfair, inhuman and straining their relationship with Igbos in the State. According to their Chairman, Habib Mohammed Farouk, “We are asking His Excellency, Governor Peter Obi to be lenient with us. Let him do to us like other Igbo States do to our brothers.” Farouk said he wanted Obi to see Hausas in Anabra as his own brothers. “We are Nigerians too, we didn’t just come to Anabram. My father was born here! My father migrated to this place, there are many of us that their great-grand-fathers migrated also to this land. I am married to an Igbo woman. I am in my place, many of us are married to Igbo women,” said Farouk. He added that he did not see why he and his fellow Hausas should be harassed just because they happened to come from the northern parts of the country. He repeated: “ I have lived all my life here. I still believe this place is Nigeria. Go to Niger State, that is where Zik was born, in Zungera. Ojukwu was born in Zungeru. Igbos are indigenes there. Their Children enjoy scholarship in schools. All enjoy the privileges, whether they be Igbo or Yoruba! That is where I come from. No sectarianism. “This issue had been discussed between his Excellency, the Governor of the State and His Eminence, the Sultan, when Sultan came here to intervene on this issue. The Governor promised the Sultan that he was going to relocate us to a proper place. The Governor also promised him that he would build the place for us and the Sultan had replied, ‘when you build that place, call me and I will then talk to my people and we will relocate them.’” Since that supposedly fruitful deliberation between the Governor and the Sultan, the traders had lived in hope, waiting for the new place to completed and for them to move. But that hope had become a stillborn, since the Anambra State government appeared ready and set to renege on its promises. In Farouk words:“Since then, nothing had been done, rather, we’ve been getting these incessant harassments, pressure and intimidation from Government agents and even from miscreants. “We’ve been very consistence. If they want us to leave here, if they want to make use of this place, they should relocate us to a proper place as it is done elsewhere. “When Kano State Government wanted to relocate the Igbo transporters in Kano, who were parking on the streets, causing obstruction, he built a big parking lot for them, where they are now parking today. “At a time the Government said that it will relocate us to Umunya but we told Government that the place was not proper for human habitation. “His Eminence was properly informed that the place is a land in dispute among Umunya, Ogbunike and Nkwelle-Ezunaka. That was the place they had earlier wanted to put us,. The Sultan said no, that they should not put his people in such an unsettled place. The Sultan insisted that they should relocate us to a place that is peace, settled and not under dispute. A place where we can develop. A place that has water and where we can have our mosque. “State Government should see us as one and part of them because the history of Northerners in Anambra State dates back to 1803.” http://www.compassnewspaper.org/index.php/category-table/6386 |
In my close to 4 years of being on Nairaland, this is the dumbest post I hav ever seen. Does your post above make sense to you? Be honest. You see why black people remain ridden by the whites & other races? Because of people like you. How does it make sense to you to go invite other countries to come kill & destroy your own country & fellow brothers (irrespective of the difference in tribe or religion, you're Nigerians & Africans/blacks together.) The Igbo tribe deserved what they got in/from the 1967 Nigerian civil war by trying to secede & if I'm president today, any part of the country that tries that rubbish of trying to break out or secede (even if its my own hometown) would be razed down to zero. I sincerely promise that.
cretin talk |
Carius: oh please!assisting ko,helping ni.u can never help someone up a ladder when the person doesn't want to climb it.u dey mind am.i am not sure she knows the mindset of these guys.people that you give handiwork for them to sustain themselves only for them to tell you point blank that they prefer begging. |

are the civil servants farmers?what if one has not farmed before? |
so people are using bokoharam for racketing. |
Home » News & Reports » News News and Reports Northern Governors, NSA Spending Millions On Fake Boko Haram Dialogue Facilitators -Source Posted: August 5, 2012 - 23:21 Plateaus Gov. Jonah Jang and NSA Sambo Dasuki By SaharaReporters, New York SaharaReporters has exclusively learnt that some Northern State Governors, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki, and other prominent government officials and businessmen are lavishing vast public funds on a series of bogus citizens who claim to have access to the leadership of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnati Lidda Awati wal Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram. A security source told SaharaReporters they are all being duped by conmen who are exploiting the name of the sect for their selfish ends. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that various individuals, including religious leaders and some members of civil society, have been milling around the state governors and the NSA with strategic proposals on how to reach the sect and put to end the insurgency. He noted that the continued attacks and bomb explosions by the sect are a clear indication that these officials are dealing with swindlers and insincere Nigerians who are taking advantage of the desperation by the government as an avenue to siphon off their own “share” of the security vote. The source said, “In all the affected states, the governors have been spending millions and yet there is nothing to show for it. This is holy month of Ramadan but the attacks have even become more frequent than before, in the process the so-called mediators or facilitators have crowed everywhere. They [militants] struck in Sokoto seat of the caliphate and home of the NSA. Where then is the justification from all these middle men who have overshadowed our superiors that they know them and can influence stoppage.” He added, “If the middle men are real, we will have seen changes but the situation is taking another complex dimension. They have not solved it and have also not stopped deceiving government by collecting public funds. This is purely security issues and must be dealt in that regards. It is all lies there is no any dialogue with real Boko Haram sect under the leadership of Imam Abubakar Shekau.” He concluded that something urgent must be done and end the ‘jamboree’, saying, “Our suggestion is simple: let government end this jamboree and face reality. If the middlemen are real, why is the Boko Haram still attacking and bombing places with increasingly sophistication? Why? Just last week 10 RPGs were intercepted from the sect in Nigerian-Chad border.” It will be remembered that President Goodluck Jonathan swore to end the Boko Haram menace by June; two months ago. He also changed his top security adviser, his previous one having traced origin of the situation to the shenanigans in the People’s Democratic Party. Still, the Boko Haram militancy has simply grown. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/northern-governors-nsa-spending-millions-fake-boko-haram-dialogue-facilitators-source |
Ekiti to redeploy LG workers in farms August 6, 2012 by Femi Makinde Leave a Comment Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi | credits: Ekiti State Government plans to post “underutilised” local government workers to farms. Governor Kayode Fayemi said this during the monthly Media Chat on Saturday. He also said some council workers had been discovered to be drawing salaries from two to three places, adding that biometric registration of staff was aimed at stopping the fraud. Fayemi said, “We want to nip in the bud things that negatively affect genuine council workers. Some people believe that they just have to collect salaries from the local government without doing anything. “Yes, we are doing the audit in the interest of Ekiti people. We need to know the legitimate local government staff and if we find you to be fake, we will ask you in your own interest to leave the system. “I have been to an office in the local government where I found 30 people doing what two people can do. There are other places we can put them because I have asked local government chairmen to cultivate 1,000 hectares of land each. “It is not about retrenchment, the agenda is not to retrench anybody but to make them more useful and contribute meaningfully to the system.” On the demand of the state judiciary workers for the implementation of special salary scale, Fayemi pleaded for understanding, saying the state was experiencing shortfall of allocation from the federation account. http://www.punchng.com/news/ekiti-to-redeploy-lg-workers-in-farms/ |

Kobojunkie: @Poster, you do realize it is a PUBLIC school and even though we have the local state board of education, that school is still under the Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria?if that is the case then those states that handed over their public schools back to the missions would not have done so since they are rub by the 'federal government'. |
let us be honest, this is quite prevalent in all the states of the country especially the rural areas.let us not blame acn in ogun for this amosun is only about a year old so let us give him sometime or the end of this tenure to judge. |
