BuyAndSellStuff: Too much money bores people they start creating hobbies.
Their billionaires are busy exploring space frontiers while ours are exploring how many undergraduate females can balance successfully on their potbellies. What these guys are doing isn't necessarily a waste of time or useless. Much of the technological innovation on earth today are byproducts of these sorts of adventures. The West approach of shooting for the moon /space literally (and the culture around this) has been the Genesis of most technological advancements around you today. Our own approach of doing only things sure to succeed(because we can't afford to fail) is one source of our limitations. |

@Seniorwriter Is there any such thing as a Financial expert? When dealing with humans I am weary about granting expertise easily. Especially concerning finances. Professionals maybe but not "expert". True experts (if they exist) would not be cheap for a regular investor to access. |

The year the Nigerian Civil war began. By 1970, when he was just 3 years, the war was over. He was at least 30+ years younger than the original Biafra agitators & leaders. How then did he become a staunch promoter of this cause many years later? Indoctrination! Observation & interest. Those are the fuels movements need to propagate itself for decades, maybe centuries. thebosstrevor1: You need the support of both the political and business elites to run a country.
fyi, mike Bloomberg was a former governor.
Do you know that all the coups that happened in Nigeria, the business elites were the ones organizing them with the help of top generals.
For instance, in the United states, most of these billionaires own newspapers and tv stations and influence the public using those mediums, you can see how Twitter was used to help Biden win election, these are just some of the instances.
The business class work hand in hand with the political elites to change government, even a politician from the north admitted how tinubu organised the business class in lagos in order for them to support Buhari election. That may have been true in the past but not anymore. At least for now. Why were the US elite in the US stunned about Donald trump's ascension in 2016 ? They never believed it. One of these billionaires here silently contributed to GEJ's campaign. Why did he lose? They are powerful. No doubt but they don't realize their aims politically with money like many seem to think. They mostly try to cozy up to the government in power. And they should. Thanks for the Convo. |

You can't win against them, they have the money and the means to change public opinion, remove a government and get a government elected.
You can't win against your elites, the game is rigged to their favour, they are better players than the average joe.
They are all part of the global elites Not really so. They're the elite. But they are not 'in Charge' Politically as some believe. Even 'removing' a government in Nigeria requires more than just money. Many have tried in the military era, the likes of Great Ogboru. Abroad, The likes of Mike Bloomberg, Tom steyer & Ross Perot have failed @ the Presidency despite throwing lots of Money into it. My point: These guys are successful Businessmen but wield less political Power than many believe. Hell, even they are 'afraid' of instability. They try to kowtow to the government in power despite being hardworking. God help them. Those who wield effective political persuasive power exist on their own. |

John McAfee didn't 'give' away his antivirus software to society, he made commercial antivirus software & sold them. He later sold his shares in his eponymous company & became wildly rich. Brilliant (Worked for NASA, Xerox & Booz Allen) & eccentric fellow but too reckless . He had escapades in Belize and was allegedly linked to murder there. Later got involved in biotechnology but clearly lacked the mettle to grind it through. Had since been indicted by US authorities for tax evasion. Strangely his own father committed suicide too. Of course it is. Movie producers do it all the time.
The question should be is it more expensive /rewarding to invite your 'broke' friend than it is to PAY hired guests to your wedding?
Also add the (graphic design) cost of blurring out the faces of your guests at the wedding too. Assuming it takes more effort from the photographer than it would otherwise. |

thebosstrevor1: Diversity does not bring any peace.
It brings competition for scared resources, ethnic tension, high crime rate, cultural shock and enmity.
If you know you know.
Yeah, there are advantages but the disadvantages is more than the advantage.
Countries where diversity is preached have lot of racial tension and discrimination. Racism is a terrible vice. But it's repeatedly made a scapegoat in this world to the neglect of other equally terrible biases. Racism (bad as it is) is but one form of prejudice. Many other forms of prejudices are downplayed because we all look at the 'demon' called racism as worse. The vast majority of Nigerians would never suffer racism — if they never go out of the continent (at least not directly). But they'll suffer other bad forms of Prejudices e.g. tribalism, ethnicism, religious discrimination, ageism, classism, sexism & Xenophobia. Even more lesser evils like disability bias or beauty bias (Yes, Havard Business Review once reported that attractive people get unfair advantages at work). The daily number of victims (In Nigeria/Africa) of the biases above would severely dwarf the number of racism incidents of Nigerians overseas but we don't care since it's not the white man doing it. Many Nigerians think they are better than the "White" man who is racist but they themselves are chronic classists by their dispositions towards others. God help us. |

Sad
But my gripe with some of these banks is that they hardly would consider the loan requests of the average Nigerian for small sums. Or would require high value collaterals where they do.
However, they offer huge loans to VIPs sometimes without adequate collaterals. On the grounds of fact that these people are popular.
Now when they fail you, you try to sway public opinions by calling it "Depositors funds".
How's it Depositors' funds? Why not a write-off against the banks profits? After all banks through loans 'create' money an profit in an economy. Is his loan up to 0.5% of the banks PAT for 2020? |

pocohantas: But it is annoying the way Nigerian men behave. A woman you have been married to since 2009. Even if her money isn’t inside, if she didn’t make the home conducive, you can’t do well at work. It is painful watching the man of your youth go about impregnating strange women while your life is on hold for the kids. It is more painful that the woman would still be blamed for the failed marriage. Let’s be fair to our spouses please- male and female alike.
You don’t want to marry again? Fine. Treat them with respect and fairness. At some point they had your back and if they wanted you dead, you’ll be long gone. This story is truly a sad tale. It's one of the big scares most have towards marriage today. But the bolded isn't always true. Many successful men/people can go on without marrying. They could also be successful at their work with the homefront being unstable. Not all but many. [Most] People are successful or unsuccessful on their own merit not due to their spouses. I do agree totally that spouses can provide good support to one's efforts at work BUT We can succeed regardless of spousal support (Much harder for some, I suppose). May God help them to resolve. I do believe it can happen. |

Balkanize the country and each region gets its own police force, its own army...you get the drift. It's so fuckìng elementary, bro Elementary? How many years do you think it takes a nation to develop a patriotic /effective military base? never mind all the other requirements that make a new country. 2 years? 3 years? Who would train them? I saw the self acclaimed IPO* group assaulting a man who was riding his motorbike on the 'stay at home memorial day' in anambra. Is this supposed to be the 'good' army? My argument against those pushing for a split is that they all act as though no COSTS are involved. As if to say a split is just a snap of a finger away. All actions and decisions (never mind a big one like a split) involve trade-offs which me includes costs. What do you reckon a split would cost us? Nothing? Just good news? |
