Autos › Re: Why Are American Cars So Big by Asour: 4:34pm On Feb 13, 2021 |
The question should be why do other car makers make smaller/compact vehicles.
They (other car makers) do so due to economic constraints. Budget conscious consumers intensely conscious of fuel efficiency.
Now the US is the most prosperous country that ever existed in modern history. Lack/Budget consciousness DID NOT (until more recent competition) factor into every manufacturing decision in making an automobile. Whenever one isn't budget conscious, the results usually translates to 'excess'/Big or large products. |

I have a Bsc in the biological sciences, I have completed a professional course in Human Resources Management, I have a diploma in computer publishing, currently I am okay financially so I want to stay of work to learn new ICT skills, please advise me on a good computer skill that I should acquire that will be very helpful in securing employment if need be that I have to apply for a job... someone suggested Data Science, web design etc... please which computer program should I go for to increase my chances of getting a better job? Thanks in anticipation for your response. please overlook my errors. IF your deeply interested in ICT, with a background in Biological science you should consider an Msc in Bioinformatics( the application of computational tools to organize, analyze, understand, visualize and store information associated with biological macromolecules) — it'll open the doors for opportunities abroad. It is at the intersection of data science and health research (assuming you still have a flair for health related disciplines). Still bent on mainstream IT/programming? Then never let anyone decide your domain. Check & choose. Go to runestone.academy and select any of their free courses that piques your interest. Scan through 2/3 and settle in on any you perceive a deep lnterest In. Learning can become a burden at some point. Make sure your carrying a load you chose yourself. See Codewithmosh.com too. I personally prefer vacationing to many of these African countries than going to dreary Europe or noisy US. Try it and see, you'll never think of Europe again. Hahahahaha! Jokes aside though, I take exception to calling the US noisy. The US, while NOT being perfect, is the best thing humanity has to offer as a country. Cheers. |

Please let's be guided. I see your point but religion isn't only a function of one's birthplace. Many peoples' religion are also due to others' actions/influence. Maybe coercion, preaching or other forms of influence. There are more than 70 million pentecostals/catholics in Nigeria. People influenced these actions. Same with muslims (some say through coercive influence). It is the same influence the man above is seeking to make. Cheers. |

Christianity Etc › Re: "It Is Dangerous Fighting Your Wife" -Mike Bamiloye Tells Men What To Do Instead by Asour: 10:10pm On Feb 05, 2021 |
janedonez: Don't mix up things here, the scripture you was for exceptional cases like bereavement, while the original advice goes to fresh spouses, moreover, God takes care of every situation whether old or new. If you decide not to involve him in your affairs. Then take what ever you get. You're answer is everywhere but nowhere. So the scriptural precept for marriage is different between singles and bereaved (seeking to marry again)? I never said NOT to pray to God. I just asked if God ordains specific people to marry specific people and you've yet to answer the question. Mr Mike Bamiloye (the man at the heart of this thread) said 2 days ago that he thanks God that all the women who refused his marriage proposal did so UNTIL his wife accepted. That they(the women who refused him) were not ordained to marry him. How convenient a statement! Why then did he propose to them? Perhaps with hindsight, IF his now wife had refused his proposal she too would have been a non-ordained choice? I totally believe in praying to God and relying on God but this burning desire for most people to push it down our throats that God specifically CHOSE their spouse (and not them) is unnecessary. Give me a Bible reference of God instructing a person to marry a specific person— Not a clan or tribe or ethnic group BUT specific named person. If you believe so fine though. Cheers. |

janedonez: God is still in the business of building families. Commit your ways into his hands and he will take care of everything. You are not answering my question candidly. You're glossing over the specificity of my question. I cor 7v 39 : The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. Note the condition: "to whom she will; only in the Lord " — No assertion of a specific individual's name specified by God. Now if a Widow has this liberty (albeit with a condition) is the requirement for singles any different? |

Education › Re: Private Universities Produce Students With Empty Brains - Plateau ASUU Chairman by Asour: 5:33pm On Feb 05, 2021 |
HigherEd: Dr. Lazarus Maigoro,
For over 7 decades that public education started in Nigeria, tell me exactly what the public education system that incubated you with a certificate worth no more than a single roll of toilet paper has benefitted the country?
What game changing patents in manufacturing, banking & finance, telecommunications have you, your students or any of your colleagues with "full brain" provided industry?
If all universities in the US are halted today, the US stock market would crash because their universities are the engines of innovation and supply of high skilled human capital.
If all public universities in Nigeria cease working for one month, the stock market won't even notice. Industry goes unconcerned. This is because you and your colleagues at ASUU actually constitute a burden to both industry and government.
You supply graduates that need retraining after four years of a retrogressive curriculum. Your value is so low priced that you can't generate your own salary through your effort except government gives you money.
The entire founding team of Paystack, PiggyVest, Quidax, ThriveAgric are from Babcock University - can you stand any of them in terms of contribution to national development? The guy was wrong in making generalizations. But you can correct him without making more generalizations yourself. Remarks of yours like "with a certificate worth no more than a single roll of toilet paper has benefitted the country? " is just feeding fire for fire without effectively correcting him. Many Covenant university (I suspect you have an affinity with the institution) lecturers [Perhaps the VC at one time] are products of public institutions. Are they of Toilet paper certificates too? Unproven Generalizations are wrong. No matter who makes them. even when used to counter another. Cheers. |

I myself struggle to be above this and I know I will.
This is also one of the fallouts of excessive population growth. So economic frustration it is. All other reasons are mostly circumstancial/minor. |

I laugh at the hypocritical Yorubas cos when the kasala wey them dey run cast, e go do them like film... Once the war starts, my brother, na only una go fight because me and my people go mind our business.. Even if we go side any party at all, it would be Nigeria cos it's obvious the Yorubas expelling and persecuting Northerners(not only Fulanis) are the same people calling for Oduduwa Republic, which makes it obvious they're intentionally causing crisis to further their own selfish interests.. They sponsored the EndSars protest... It failed woefully. They attempted a second one which was resisted by well-meaning Nigerians. Now they are going about extrajudicially evicting people from their home in gross violation of the constitution.. Maiming, looting and dismembering hapless civilians...
But we are watching.. If they think we will side them, then they've got another think coming...
Cos Nigeria is my country; my allegiance is to Nigeria and I am ready to die for Nigeria.
God bless Nigeria. Long live Nigeria! Although I didn't support the MODE of the endears protests but I think giving it a tribal/ethnic Colouration is disingenuous. Besides the fact that The movement had no unanimous leaders, Known Yoruba leaders where criticized by members of the union. The movement also shared support from virtually ALL ethnic groups in the country. It's hard to mention many times where national unity was entrenched. Endsars was one of such. |

Why is it that people always think negatively about those using Laptop? I am a programmer that work remotely from home but whenever people come around the first thing they ask is "Am I also into yahoo?" I will have to sit them down to start explaining what programming job entails.
Honestly, it is really frustrating! Please why did people usually have this negative thought to those innocent programmers doing their legit job? Arthur C. Clarke said that "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." In that sense, the layman can't fathom how one can sit at a place for 5/7 hrs daily on what appears to be a glorified typewriter to him and make decent earnings. To them it's almost wizardry (as clark noted) or at the very least must involve some shady practices. It's ignorance. |
