What about Niger Delta militants that have taken up arms destroyed many infrastructures? naijastoryz: It’s too late for Igbo to pull out of Nigeria – Igbo lawmaker September 23, 2017 A Lagos lawmaker, Mr Jude Idimogu, on Saturday, said it was too late for the Igbo nation to pull out of Nigeria. Idimogu, representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, told newsmen in Lagos that secession would be injurious to the Igbos. He said: “As a full blooded Igbo man and a Nigerian, I believe, Igbo staying in Nigeria as an entity will prosper the Igbo nation better than pulling out. “After the 1967 Civil war, the Igbo man started all over again to build up; now Igbo nation has made progress in terms of economy and politics. “Though the Igbo nation has not reached where it is expected to be politically, we should dialogue rather than be creating war scenarios. ‘’It is too late to pull out (of Nigeria), Igbo nation has united Nigeria because they have businesses everywhere in this country,” the lawmaker said. The lawmaker urged Mr Nnamdi Kanu, the Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to rescind from any action that could create enmity against Igbos around the country. He urged the Igbo nation to unite with other ethnic groups in the country to articulate their grievances and actualised their dreams. “My children were born in Lagos and some of them don’t even know their state of origin, they speak Yoruba and so many Igbo children are like that across the North and West.
“We have our future in Nigeria. The only thing Igbo nation should fight for is political power not by creating war scenario but by merging with other nations/tribes in Nigeria – the Northerners and Westerners. “Most Igbos, over 50 per cent, don’t even believe in Biafra because they have counted the cost from 1970 after the war till 2017. No one wants to go back to square one; it is not possible. “As a person, I am against it; what the Igbo man should struggle for in this entity are equality, fairness and justice, not pulling out. “It is very late to pull out, it will be difficult because majority of us are not ready to fight any war; I don’t want to lose my life nor my sons and daughter in war; I believe we can make Nigeria our home,’’ he said. According to him, even if the Igbo nation wants to pull out of Nigeria, it is not going to be overnight or by aggression, rather it should be via a friendly and democratic process. “Kanu should calm down, unite with Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a tree cannot make a forest,” the lawmaker said. Newsmen report that there had been several agitations by IPOB for a Sovereign State of Biafra, the development that lead to the proscription of the group. source-https://naijastoryz..com.ng/2017/09/its-too-late-for-igbo-to-pull-out-of.html Somebody should tell him that Scotland was part of Britain for over 300 years but had referendum on independence in 2014. We all know this present government is a disaster and has failed irretrievably but I don't agree with Kanu's ways too. We were all living in fear and I'm partly grateful that is gone now, before you label us cowards please do ask yourself if war breaks out what will Kanu do to help the Igbo nation? With which Army will Biafra defend her land? Ojukwu lasted that long because he was a military governor with standing Army. Britain is going to ask if IPOB are armed? No
Have they killed anyone? No Have they attacked anyone outside the usual civilian/security sgencies clashes that exist in every country? No
Has Nnamdi Kanu himself killed anyone? No
So on what grounds will the British government revoke his citizenship? |

Nigeria is hugely fashioned to favor the North against the rest of us. This is one of the many reasons why Nigeria must #Restructure or divide.
Cyril Emetoh. I hope the "restructuring noisemakers" in the south can see why restructuring is not possible in Nigeria. The core North with more than 140 reps in the 360 house of representatives have more than enough votes to thriw out any bill on restructuring. life2017: Before colonialisation, The whole of Anioma, ika, kwale, etc were part of Benin Kingdom and Benin Empire. After and during colonialisation, Anioma was part of Western Region. And later became part of Midwest and later became part of Bendel before becoming part of Delta State today.
Anioma has never in history be part of Eastern region. Never. Never Never. Even when Ojukwu was Governor of Eastern Region, Anioma were not under him. They were all under Midwest.
When Ojukwu wanted Biafra, He wanted the whole Midwest to be part of Biafra. Even when Ojukwu invaded Midwest (Including asaba) he named it Republic of Benin like a confederation because he could not clearly called it Biafra because they were a under a different Millitary Governor David Ejoor with headquarter in Benin City.
So part of Anioma, ika, kwale etc all part to the North of River Niger were ever part of Eastern region.
Please You Need To Go and Read . I can understand all this but this is not abiut the recreation of the old Bini empire. Bendel Republic makes no sense if people are forced into it against their will. So a referendum is very important. I would say that in the referendum, they should be given the choice of: Nigeria Bendel Biafra The Igbo speaking part of Bendel or the Anioma area must be given a choice to decide which these 3 choices they want. |

Throwback: If the SouthEast is so motivated, why not move a motion to have a constitutional backing for secession?
If Kanu is so motivated, why not pressure the SE governors and federal legislators from the South East to move such motion. If they are unwilling to pursue a mandate that is popular with the SE electorate, why not vote them out and elect those who will agree to such?
Is it so hard to understand that no usurpation of the democratic and constitutional representation of a people will be allowed by Nigeria or by UN?
Why is Kanu wasting his time thinking he can achieve his goal by an illegal means?
Follow the right path and stop hoping that someone would show empathy and allow you through from the window rather than the front door.
You have people who opposed certain ideas in America, including the fact that a Black man should be president. They formed a conservative and racist pressure group (Tea Party) and aligned with the Republican Party to elect governors and legislators who made prior pledges to follow the master plan of the pressure group.
It took 8 years but they finally got their own kind of racist in the white house.
There is nothing wrong with the democratic and constitutional approach that they employed.
That is how America works.
The liberals too always strategize to elect people who have already pledged to a certain ideology and stick to such when they get to office.
Until IPOB follows the right path to the change they desire, they will forever be pretenders to political authority. Moving a motion in the Nigerian National Assembly for secession is a complete waste of time. Its like asking a bird to try flying to the moon, the bird can try, but everybody knows it will never get there. Even if Kanu and IPOB formed some sort of political party and won every elective seat in the areas they want to separate from Nigeria, they will still have to go to a Nigerian National Assembly where other zones will be waiting for them. IPOB have no chance in hell of getting a 2 third majority to push their agenda. Fair to say that that the entire North and the West will not vote for the disintegration of Nigeria, ever. It would have been a different thing if the 6 geopolitical zones were autonomous and had the right to individually vote on seceding from Nigeria within their region without recourse to the National Assembly. Do the only option of IPOB is to agitate until the Nigerian political establishment and government decide that the only practical thing is to do is grant them referendum |

As a Biaftan supporter, I support anyone exercising their right to self determination. If the people of old Bendel decide they want to be a separate nation, all well and good.
However, there is a problem.
Biafran supporters have a vested interest in parts Bendel, particularly the Igbo speaking areas from Asaba to Igbanke. So if there must be a Bendel Republic, it has to be by referendum and the area called Anioma must be given the option of choosing between Bendel Republic and Biafra |

eodavids: The ethnic group aborigin in south east Nigeria are supposedly peaceful people. Peaceful people, by laws (or principles) of cause and effect, are entitled to enjoy peaceful life.
This supposition may have being threatened by realities on ground. Over time, (excluding the Biafra incidence of 1967-69) The Igbo people have been known to concentrate on buying and selling across Nigeria and beyond. They are not prone to trouble making. And they have always ignored trouble when it knocks their doors.
They do this by minding their own business, and not interfering in other people's affairs.
Things are now changing, because Ndigbo has a lot to worry about, especially the actions of the home based Igbo youths which endangers the Igbos abroad.
There must be a deliberate effort put in place to secure the safety of Ndigbo home and abroad, one of such efforts must be directed in curbing of youth excesses.

The Army made the declaration on Friday, September 22 in a statement by Colonel Sagir Musa, the deputy director public relations 82 Division.
The statement posted to PRNigeria read in part: “Despite the initial opposition to Exercise EGWU EKE II by the outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra IPOB members and their sympathizers and unpatriotic elements, the general area of the South East especially Aba in Abia State is now fully stabilized.
“The usual violent activities of the outlawed IPOB “National Guards” (manning check points and extorting money from traders and motorists) have now been checkmated. “Similarly, the outlawed IPOB group presence is no longer visible and people go about their normal businesses without fear, let or hindrance. “The 82 Division Nigerian Army wishes to reassure the public that it is poised to maintaining the peace and security in the entire South-Eastern Region.
“Members of the public are please requested to cooperate with security agencies by remaining law abiding and passing credible information to the nearest security check point or call 193 and the various Sector Commanders’ telephone numbers that were earlier made public.”
Premium Times reports that the Army’s declaration followed the conclusion of a one-day tour of the region by the chief of Army staff Tukur Buratai.

Yes we can brag about our commercial exploits, education, talents, wealth, personalities but we lack unity. Out of all the tribes in this country, Igbos are the most greedy, wicked, heartless, and selfish set of creatures. I am a confirm onye igbo, born and brought up in the north, i am typing this because of the IPOB crisis here in the east. It's hard for me to admit but the truth must be told. I asked myself yesterday night; If we are to get biafra what will come next? Are we ready to be independent? Do we have the resources to survive? Is there love among ourselves? After analysing all these, i come to conclusion that biafra is the worst that will happen to an igbo man, biafra will be a place where hatred is the order of the day, we are always the ones playing the victim card, we call Yoruba people all sorts of derogatory names, we blame everyone one in this country except ourselves. It was a Yoruba family that welcomed and gave me shelter in GBOKO BENUE STATE the year i was posted there for my jamb exam (you can hardly see an igbo man do this for his brother, let alone a stranger) my best secondary school teacher is a Yoruba man, we lack hospitality and love among ourselves. I didn't know about this until i left north for east, an igbo man will rather sell his brother for a plate of porridge out of greed We call Hausa this and that yes i don't even like them (the truth must be told), their religious and ethnic intolerance is something else, but we are not better either, we have made our land less convenient for our people that's why you see igbos investing outside igbo land. You will buy land in igboland and all the kinsmen in that community will try to feast on your pocket. Yes we have most of the most corrupt politicians in this country. Those bastar.ds we call our leaders are the ones we supposed to hold accountable, Nigeria is not our problem, Yoruba people are the only people we can team up with, they are the only one we can ally with. I use to ask myself why most of my trusted friends are not igbos, it's not a coincidence. It is from experience. In 2015 i relocated from the north to the east, up till now I'm still regretting my decision, i will rather die elsewhere than to be consumed by hatred in igbo land. My maternal grandfather who is supposed to welcome me home, despite all the tenants that are paying him, could not let me stay in one of his rooms. My grandfather!! My advice to my fellow igbos is that we should eliminate hatred in our lives, only then we can come together and think of the way forward. texazzpete: So what 'grievance' were the South Eastern 'locals' there to air?
And no, people don't just go around burning police stations when they have a grievance.
'things got out of hand' indeed!
Please jettison the fable of the IPOB agenda being a non-violent one. We've all seen the video of Nnamdi Kanu insisting that the struggle will not be peaceful...and IPOB freely admits that Kanu is the leader and director of IPOB.
these childish, petty lies are embarrassing. Can you imargine if all Shekau did was threaten to burn down and destroy Nigeria? Had it been all threats and nothing more Im sure everyone would rather choose that than what is happening. The point here is that IPOB has largely not been violent and the few times it has been involved in violence has had something to do with the Nigerian Army shooting them. |

Basically, the story of IPOB going to burn down the station was no true.
Locals went ti the police station to air their grevance and things got out of hand, it happens.
But the authorities rushed to the conclusion that IPOB delibrately attacked police station and burnt it. |
