asaaju omo:Unbelievable! I actually thought she is a bit civilised. That man? One of his wives lives close to me with 7 children. I just hope she was not charmed to go to that marriage with that man. Haba Sikira!!!! |
Please i beg you in God's name pity that girl and let her be, she is too young. I am not going to abuse you because i know this things happen but please have the fear of God remember you will have daughters too and if not for 'condition' she would be in her own father's house as well. Please biko have mercy on her. |
Asking this question does not really show the kind of love that is strong enough for marriage, if you are genuinely in love you wouldnt be asking this question. Marriage opens the blind eyes of love so think very well before going into it o. As far as i am concerned 5 years is much when the oldest is the wife. Also be sure she is not considering you for hidden reasons that would be hell if you do marry each other. But if you 2 are sincerely in love, good luck but first be sure you are not going to one day say 'you r even too old for me' and be sure she is not going to say 'its not your fault as if i am your mate if not for condition' |
How i wish there was gsm when i was 'chaseable' lol |
Our problem is that we don't read, an average Nigerian who can express him/herself in english language irrespective of if the english is correct or not believes he/she has known it all and careless about improvement. Our reading culture is nothing to write home about, when next you are travelling by air take a look around and see how many black people are reading. Someone once said the best way to keep something from us is to put the thing inside a book and drop it on our table and that the person will come back to meet it there intact. We all need to learn and keep learning. Having said that, i want us to also note that nairaland is not visited by graduates only even secondary school drop outs are here, its obvious from their composition and even their contributions (irrespective of either the english is correct or not) and also bearing on mind that correct usage of the language has to be learned and most people only stopped at government secondary schools where the teacher's attitude is 'ogo ta ogo ota owo alaaru ape. I work in a call center and speak to an average of 70 people a day and believe me when some of the so called 'oyinbos' speaks english you would almost be tempted to ask 'what country are you from' especially those ones we call 'adamodi'. Well, there is always room for improvement so lets all keep learning but believe me with the handling of education in our dear country and the number of hard baked litterates, this is one thing that will forever be - poor speaking poor writting. |

There are lots of things we do take for granted. Travel insurance is quite neccesary the only pity there is if it really work in Nigeria. About 2 years ago my cousin travelled from France to Nigeria and paid just about €55 for travel insurance the very day he got to Nigeria he had an accident and his arm was to be amputated, they quickly called the insurance company in France a doctor was flown to Nigeria and he was flown back with the doctor 2 days later, just for €55. If he didnt have insurance his arm would have been amputated, it took him over a year before he could use the arm but all the expensis was paid by the insurance company, that medical bill would have almost ruined him. Its really worth it but like i said i don't know how beneficial it is in our dear country. As for where you can get ask Mr know it all-Google |

Do what you would if she is your own sister, depends anyway on the level of relationship between you anyway but if you are close friends then do what you is she's your sister. Honestly i find this hard to believe, its quite funny. Whatever the situation is begging is definitely out of it and with the fact that the bride to be herself earns fat salary he sure could do something better than begging. |
Below is one of the numerous emails i receive on daily basis, but come to think of it do people still fall for cheap 419 like these? Hello Dear good day I am Mrs. marriam abacha the ex-first lady of the federal republic of Nigeria . Late general sanni abacha was my late husband , the president of the federal republic of Nigeria. It actually depends on what the couple wants and what their background is, its a taboo in some families to make so much noise about wedding while its a taboo for some families to have a quiet wedding. My cousins are 9 girls in their family and 7 are already married with the parents spending few millions, in this case it has become a tradition in their family and the remaining 2 girls expect nothing less. Most of the money is spent by the parents so you got to check out what their pocket is like except you want to spend the money yourself anyway if you are loaded, but what matters is the life in the marriage not the celebration. |
If you are a male and still a tenager i will advise you face your studies for now and when you are up to it after perfecting your studies it will come easily. |
My dear mother, Words can not describle what you are to me you are simply my LIFE because when my father died while i was only 3 months old you decided to not to remarry because you did not want any man to treat me/us like shit, you singlehandedly saw me/us through my/our growing years and education until i/we married my/our best friend. You were there for me/us and made sure i/we had no ill feellings due to having lost my/our dad as a baby/little kids. You are a great example of what motherhood should be, you have high standard and taught me/us to be independent in anything i/we do. You gave me/us the best legacy, you are my/our LIFE and i love you so much, little wonder i could not wait until the 3rd of March (mother's day) to present you that beautiful house your being single with no support denied you of having yourself, you prefer to build us to building house. I love you and will love you even in the grave. Happy mother's day mama mi. |

HUnnnnnnnnnn come back home to live? yeh sure when i am about 70 may be. Last Xmas i was in Nigeria i could not wait to come back, God! nothing works in my dear country, the way motorists and pedestrians move side by side scared me, things are so expensive, no courtesy anywhere, nobody cares about you, no security, the sight of poor people looking haggard and uncrared for, the sight of HEAVY GUNS on dirty looking police everywhere, poor state of hospitals, funny looking government school classrooms, kids looking dirty hawking just to survive, hunnnnnnnnnn The rich getting richer and absence of middle class, joblessness, except for banking industries now employing people to roam everywhere looking for millions, God have mercy! holdups nko? no single planning, banks in residential areas with no security God saves pasersby when the 'big boys' visits, endless list, May God help dear country! The though of coming home is scary man! |
Great advise there, thanks to you all. I should have thought deeply really, i just thought i could get a nice family to spend few days with who i can in turn invite to spend time with us in Ireland. I have visited an European country and was hosted by a family we met on internet through same channel and it was fun, we are still family friends now. I have changed my mind anyway, you can't trust all Nigerians this may put me in more trouble than i bargain for, will look elsewhere. Big thanks to you all. |
This was what i did after i received an iv letter five years ago. I got my 6 months bank statement, i got a consent letter from my husband, i got a letter from my employer to say i was on holiday, got my 6 month payslip, added my marriage certificate and i filled the application form and attached all the above mentioned documents and submitted it at the embassy. That was it 5 years ago but what it is now i am not sure but i think it wouldnt really be far from this. |
