chingyjant: My Friend speak of what you have studied not speaking from your own enclave of understanding. If you were asking the person that you responded to his or her comment to show you statistics of men having children all over the place?I dont know the part of the country you are from but with no apology go to the southern part of Nigeria all states there inclusive its a common practice.Have'nt you heard of the word BORN THROWAY?Some after impregnating to young girl they abscond to the city in order to evade taking responsibility or is it in copious cases whereby a man has over 10 children and he does not know how they survive. The women go out to do menial jobs and when the she comes back he beats her up and still collect the money to drink local gin with his pals like him.It is not all about fathering a child but taking care of the child i believe that is the main essence of the law though it cant work in Nigeria considering the unavailability of Data base sysytem/
Mr Oga did the man rape the woman? If a woman has 10 kids its because she wants to have 10 kids. Stop blaming Men for the actions of women.
What if throughout your marriage she sacrificed by not working to take care of the kids, which saved a considerable amount of money. Alimony is not forever you know. I think it gives the woman some time to readjust and get settled into her new life and status. Besides most divorce settlements kind of put each couple in an equitable position at their divorce. So that each party is not taken advantage of or worse off. Like if you both owned properties and what not. It can be either the man or the woman who loses some wealth. So it is not like it is always a loss to the man. Though in a country like Nigeria, its mostly the men who are richer.
How do you settle a man for the emotional stress he goes through if the woman is a Nag?

If funny how so many think you can just wake up and produce a drug. No wonder so many fake medicine in Nigeria...

For the uninformed... Medical research usually follows the following procedures when a "new cure" is found.
1) It is first tested on animals.(there is a thread here on Nairaland about blind mice regaining there sight. There researchers have not claimed to have found a cure for blindness)
2)After you test on animals, you report your findings
3)Conduct more research
4)Apply to relevant authorities to perform clinical trials. At this stage, you get human volunteers who are willing to test the new drugs.
Stage 4 is very important because this is where you get to decide the efficacy of the new drug. You check for side effects and other sorts of things like whether the new drug gives total cure or just suppresses the illness.
Clinical trial can take years to finish.

There is no point in releasing a drug that cures aids while giving the patient cancer. The uniben prof did not do clinical trials so how does he know the drug works?

When people realise there are rules and regulations to be followed.
kandiikane: Maybe, just maybe he actually found the cure, heck maybe many found the cure but got threatened. O_o
Got threatened by who?
sure way: A lecturer once explained to me "there is cure for HIV but it will create set back for many HIV/AIDS Awareness organisation"
perhab he found the cure..but you shud knw dis is naija.
dr ibeh at this moment of ur life l think you need security agents.
I'm pretty sure that lecturer is a dull headed fellow
talktimi: This reminds me of Dr Abalaka in the 90s who was frustrated by the IBB regime over his alleged cure for HIV/AIDS, dude had to run to Zimbabwe whr he was sponsored by the Zimbabwean govt to work on his cure, IBB just placed a nice threatening call and our nice Dr was deported to Nigeria and his travelling documents seized. Right now I hear he's into ice block business in abuja.
Moral of the story is - the cure for hiv/aids will only come out when the powerful west wants it to come out.
Next time prof should do things in the proper way sha
IBB is no longer in power how come Dr Abalaka has not gone back to work?
ghettodreamz: Oga ooooooo..

Nigerians are we moving forward or backward?

Hatred and enviousness will never take us anywhere.

I'm damm sure, that man must have actually discovered the cure to the pandemic disease but who cares? In a country where hatred, enviousness, bitterness and individual researchers are not attuned to making decisions or discoveries on their own,the pace of scientific inventions, medical research discoveries integration and development/improvement of human's health system would be slowed down if not completely defeated.

I cry for NIGERIA cry cry cry cry
Foolishness will never takes us anywhere. Did prof do any clinical trials? What are the side effects of the drug?

Politics › Re: How Many Of His Promises Has Jonathan Kept? by AZeD1(m): 1:14am On Jan 10, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: I know this thread was opened for mischief and for the mischief makers to have swell time in LIES and propaganda. However, I will prove CONCLUSIVELY to every fair minded person (and spoil the party for mischief makers) that GEJ makes promises like other politicians but the DIFFERENCE is that he FULFILS most of his promises.

2) Still in Lafia Nasarawa, "He guaranteed a university in every state"

FULFILMENT: 9 new federal universities has been created. They are being built and in fact some of then have COMPLETED the construction of major infrastructure, properly equipped and already COMMENCED operation.

http://www.fulokoja.edu.ng/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=38

In addition, only today, the federal executive council approved 3 more BRAND NEW federal universities for 3 northern states: Yobe, Zamfara and
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/01/fg-approves-three-varsities-for-yobe-kebbi-zamfara/

4) "In Bauchi, Bauchi State on 9th February 2011, Jonathan...establish two universities in the region; construct schools with modern facilities for 9.5 million Almajiris.."

FULFILMENT: it is a well known fact that the FG is building hundreds of Almajiri model schools mostly in the north and southwest. In fact some of them, like the one in Sokoto, have been completed and commissioned
http://nigeriarising.com.ng/photos-videos/photonews-president-goodluck-jonathan-commissions-almajiri-school-in-sokoto/

5) "In Ilorin, Kwara State also on 21st February 2011, Jonathan promised...rehabilitation of the nation’s railway system; rehabilitation of the Ilorin-Mokwa road"

FULFILMENT: it is undeniable that the nations railway system is undergoing massive transformation. Only in December, the Lagos-Kano rail line was completed, tested, and put to use.
That added to the numerous other rail line routes that have been rehabilitated and put to use including the Lagos-Illorin rail line and other intra-city railway services. Other corridors currently under serious construction include eastern corridor(Enugu-PH-north), Abuja-Kaduna(150km per hr and 50% completed NOW), Itapke-Ajaokuta-Warri(150km per hr).
The implication of reviving the rail transport cannot be over-emphasised, including reduced cost of transportation, reduced price of food items, safer transport, longer life span of our roads, etc

6) "In Abakaliki, Eboyin State on 24th February Jonathan promised the South East geo-political zone priority attention,...dualize the Enugu-Abakaliki Express Road within one year;convert the Federal Medical Centre in Abakaliki to a teaching hospital"
Bros when giving us the achievement of GEJ, don't include "xyz has been approved" because approval == looting until we SEE the project.
Thanks

austushi1: Juvenile response! I'll not insult u as u hv done, but I'll reply u in a matured manner. When a prof in america claimed he had a cure for HIV(vaccine called TRUVADA) they tested it on some HIV patients, but it didn't cure them n they discredited it! That's a good 1! They didn't ask him to get d school authority involved! Open ur brain n understand it. U don't just destroy my findings out rightly! Ok, let's assume he didn't pass thru the right channel, but dis is a cure d whole world has bn waiting for, y not test it n see if it works, then u can sanction him.
Sorry for the insult. In medicine there is what they call clinical trials, and to perform clinical trials you have to get permission from relevant authorities. He is also a staff of uniben and as his employers they have to know what he is doing with the time he is paid for. I'm pretty sure he used uniben's equipment too.

sexkillz: The truth is that I did give a warning for your posting off-topic and that of others, which resulted in the banning of your account, as well as two others. My warning was explicit.

Now, I thought I banned accordingly. Like the rest of you though, I am human and prone to err. If you or others feel that I made a mistake in the way I handled a situation, any of you can use the complaints thread or send me a pm as I read all of them. It's much easier this way than for threads to be popping up in various sections on this forum.

Anyway, I've lifted your ban. For any of you who are unclear of the rules or the goings-on for the Romance section, do RE-familiarize yourselves with the Nairaland Forum Rules and Regulations as well as the thread for the Romance Section's goals this year, Happy 2013 Romance-landers. That's what I go by. Here's to a clean slate and a more cohesive section this year. Cheers.

Dear mod of the section please no vex and help me move to the correct section

Seun
Please can you tell the house the rules as regards the banning of nairaland members? I am asking because i was banned by sexkillz for hailing a fellow nairalander.
If it is wrong to hail a fellow nairalander, no problem but on the said thread i was banned, there were others who did what i did and were/are not banned so why was i singled out? Below is the post that got me banned.

Guy i dey feel you.... If i ever meet you i go buy you one carton of alomo(I quoted a post by chronique/ he also got banned)

Where is my rice(i quoted a post by freecocoa).

There is nothing offensive in my post and i get banned. I just want to know why.

Fayimora: That is quite sad @Javanian. Things really need to change in Nigeria then. I still find it funny that CS students "contract out their projects". That's very very sad. If I were you, I'll stop working for such people, except they are ready to pay an exorbitant fee of course cheesy.

@naija_swag I disagree. It's not a pointless topic. Not everyone believes in certifications. To be honest, I haven't heard anyone say anything about certifications in the last 12months. All I hear about are projects -> this pluggin or that extension or that library.
@the bolded, even people doing Msc in computer science/information technology contract out their projects.
As for the certification issue, its a Nigerian thing. I made up my mind never to do any certification exam when a fellow corper i served it was busy doing certification exams and passing while i was reporting to work on public holidays to finish projects. The corper finished the whole microsoft developer thingy while we were serving but did not participate in one project. The corper is also a 1st class graduate of computer science.

Skill first then certification if you need it to get a job or promotion.

On another note, Fayimora can we hook up?

I think those are the two most important factors. Anything else would bother on trivial things like tribe, religion, denomination, e.t.c

If you pretend and they like you for what you are not you would have a problem in the long run.
