FTA dish tracking here just got even better with the arrival of my GPS satellite finder and Angle locator/inclinometer. I been checking out both items since saturday and I can say they're a necessary addition for any serious enthusiast. With the Garmin eTrex GPS Personal Navigator guesswork is totally eliminated as it indicates your location co-ordinates anywhere you are. Also the course pointer tells you which direction you're actually pointing (in degrees).

Wow!! That is fantastic. It must have cost a fortune!  abeg, post pictures as soon as possible.

[b]@Baba egun, i saw the three pictures u posted on July 13, 2008. I have intrest in the second picture, the picture shows a pan satellite with three LNB on it.
Can u give me its advantages, disadvantages n the total number of channel i can watch (using 2.6m pan dish)

The advantage of having more 3 lnbs is to connect to 3 different satellites which also translates into more channels for you.  I can not determine the number of channels that you can see at a time.  you'll have to visit lyngsat.com and check the satellites and their corrensponding channels.  For example, with Nilesat, you are guaranteed of getting at least 200+ channels depending on your location and dish size.  Also, you may still need to read more of the past threads (seasons 1 and 2).

@All on MULTITV
I realised that for sometime, my MULTI TV turned to 'PHCN' - going off for a long time and coming back again. I actually though it was a temporary loss of signal from Multi Tv but the problem persisted for some time.  Also because some other users were experiencing the same thing, I didn't bother.  All of a sudden, no signal again but CRTV was working. So last night, I just changed my tp's polarity  from 12552 V to 12552 H and the signal became stable. I didnt know the reason for the sudden change its good that solves the problem so anyone experiencing loss of signal on Multi TV should change the polarity.

"NAILING" DAARSAT ON NILESAT 1.8m DISH

Ladies and gentlemen, I bought the Daarsat decoder yesterday and for the first time was able to view the Multi TV package. Meeeen!!!  Ghana has gone far.  dishing out those lovely channels for free?  ahh we will get there one day.

@All,
fijabi :

@all,for those that catch daarsat hd reciever fever like me,if you like to track daarsat signal with strong there is a way out which is best than daarsat box,with a lot of reseach i get tp that is easy to track the bird ,just put this tp 10.977v,sr4.056 or10.956v,sr4.638 on your strong and start tracking, for those in lagos the dish elevation is 53.3degree & 27.5w degree.with those tp that i mention you must hit 80%,then connect your daarsat reciever and put daarsat tp,11.675v,30.000 &11.555v,30.000 and enjoy daarsat package for the rest of 68 days bye

If you guys need to nail daarsat, the post above with the highlighted info is all you need. All thanks to Fijabi for that fantastic Idea. It was as easy as a piece of cake.  Encouraged by oga moderator, I set out to nail daarsat on my 1.8m dish. And man, It was just tooo easy to do. I got green in less than 1min. Why? because I did a little calculation (diagram attached) which paid off.  ok. let me explain.   I already have nss7, nilesat, ew3a and Sirius on my dish. so what I did was to use the nss7 as a reference point and then search for daarsat signal a little distance from the nss 7 and that was it.  The green came out.  So I didnt install the daarsat dish (I fear my landlord ooo).  It will come in handy when I need to "nail" another satellite.  After the installation, I then removed the NSS7 lnb to really put the daarsat on the holder which was shakky before cause it was just tied to the nss7 lnb.  thats all

olofofo:

I hear from a reliable source that the new dstv package to go for =N=1500 will include our beloved ETV south Africa

Can you imagine?  So the culprit is  DSTV after all?  After seeing the rate at which people are installing free to air and facing the dish to pick etv and the christian channels, they suddenly realized they can "make" more money and attract customers by blocking the channel (as they did with CNBC Africa) and adding it to their bouquet.  Haaa Shylock people.  Well, we shall see.

@all

MULTITV DIGIBOX or  DAARSAT KOAN BOX ?

I think the most appropriate box to choose now is the Daarsat box because of its HD feature. My candid advice.

Science/Technology / Re: Nepa Alarm: Circuit To Power Small Speaker by babaegun(m): 5:57am On Aug 29, 2009
@badesco
Thanks for your quick response. Really, I don't intend to repair the alarm because it will just be a waste of time. I can see that the system is not rugged enough that is why it breaks down often.

What I want is somebody to help me with a circuit diagram that can achieve something close to the christmas alarm. Something that can power a small speaker to make a sound.

I am electronic person but I am too rusty. Rusty in the sense that I can not design anything now but I can put things together and solder.

This Nepa alarm system is better than the electric bulb that this electricians install in our homes because if you are not close to where it is installed, you won't be able to know NEPA has restored light but for the alarm, it is instant. Everyone who uses it will appreciate it.
Science/Technology / Nepa Alarm: Circuit To Power Small Speaker by babaegun(m): 3:56pm On Aug 28, 2009
Please good guys in the house, I need your assistance.

There is this small christmas light alarm box that comes with the christmas light which i connected to NEPA light  (ON/OFF switch) to alert me whenever NEPA brings light and am on Generator.  When NEPA takes light, I switched the alarm ON and then put on the Generator. When NEPA restores light, the alarm comes on with the Christmas song and I know (in fact my kids knows) NEPA light has been restored. I then switch the alarm to OFF to stop the sound.

So presently, the Christmas alarm box is faulty.  Its no longer works(I actually bought 3 and they have all gone bad). I know it is achievable electronically.

What I have in mind is a circuit diagram (very simple one) that can just make sound (any sound) with a small transistor radio speaker and few electronic devices.   Please guys, help me.

Hello everyone,

Nice to see that you guys are still doing wonderful jobs in here.  sorry I have not been able to contribute anything tangible since but I have never stopped navigating to this site to read everything you guys have been posting.  Please keep up the good work and lets imbibe the spirit of oneness and try to find a matured way to resolve our issues without derailing the thread.

The thread have been moving is such a way that in few days time, we shall be saying bye bye to Part three (now page 96) of Nairaland's Free-to-Air Satellite TV. Isn't it wonderful?  When we take stock of what we have seen and garnered over the years,  you all will agree with me that we are gradually (if not almost) an authority in this field. There is still more to be learned and that is why we have to continue to do our research and share what we have, and with brotherly love in our heart, then we will get to that destination, our outermost goal, to make sure FTA takes a deep root in our society. Imagine the spirit of  MultiTV in Ghana "We believe that quality digital TV should be accessible to everybody; not just reserved for the privileged few. Why not here in Nigeria. Yes, we can!!

So guys, Do have a great Day.

@Enigma

Yeah, I scanned the TP and got Africa 24 . It is the only channel that is FTA on the tp. The broadcast is in French. The signal quality is superb. So sad no english broadcast for now. Got this piece from the internet.

A new pan African satellite channel that covers Europe, the Middle East and the USA has been launched in Paris. The founder, Constant Nemale from Cameroon, claims that Africa 24 is the only broadcaster in the world to reach Africans no matter where they are located. The international news channel, Africa 24, is wholly owned by Afrimedia which has offices located around the African continent. Now with offices and studios in Paris, France, the firm employs forty five people who come from eighteen countries. The aim is to produce content for the changing face of the entire African continent. Although currently the channel is broadcast in French, it wants to compete with big news broadcasters such as CNN. To do that it will need to produce programming in English, a capability which will be added in 2010.

@Mr Gem

Happy Belated birthday.

cheers.

My strong 4650 decoder went dead after i patched it.  So I took it to MYTV office and it was repaired. Actually, it was the flash memory that was replaced.

On getting home, I powered it on and  noticed that it came with the usual, scrambled MYTV channels. So, I scanned for channels and got the religious channels on PAS7/10.  However, I noticed that after switching it off, all the religious channels vanishes and it was replaced by the MYTV channels!!!  I rescanned again, got the religious channels, powered off and it was the same thing. ---decoder went back to the default MYTV settings.  I noticed that anytime the decoder boots up, it comes up with an FFFF number before showing the 0001 channel number.  Which means, the decoder is no longer storing the channels and settings into its memory.

Can somebody who has experienced this before come to my aid? What should I do?

@ baba-egun, what can u say about the manufacturers of those cards that work for nile and later went dead. are they lazy to come up with a solution ? if we can lay our hands on a good software or IC (Integrated Circuit) Programmer and initiate him into the world of FTA, we all will witness the beauty that FTA holds for us all. Based on my findings, ICs in the decoder can be altered in terms of programming to descramble coded signals,more information on this by tomorrow.

I think those guys are not just smart enough or they have a plan that we are yet to understand. If they still want to stay in business, then they better start thinking. Well, I believe we can program those cards ourselves here but we lack the knowledge for now. I am sure, we will and very soon too.

abracadabra card is dead? thats serious! is there any constant/stable/permanent means of unlocking? i guess the answer is no? so what next after juju card?

It hasn't been confirmed yet.

I am still optimistic that the moresat guys will be smart enough to meet with the present challenge. That's were they get their daily bread and am sure they wouldn't take a siddon-look posture or else, hunger will mama them till kingdom come. Let me change an adage to fit the situation, "since birds have learnt to fly without perching, the hunters have also learn't to shoot without missing" grin

@all,

I picked this up in one of the forums today, Don't know if it is true sha

[Today 14:29:18] A: abracadebra died for ever ,,, never art & show time will come ,
[Today 14:30:24] B: who told u A ?
[Today 14:31:19] A: my bro who work in Show time & ART
[Today 14:32:09] A: they analyze abracadebra and they change algorithem
[Today 14:32:55] B: ok A we'll see then
[Today 14:33:11] A: sure ,
[Today 14:33:33] B: where u from ?
[Today 14:33:33] A: i am from saudia

Well, if its true, then we have to look for alternative. However, a new patch will disprove this but guys, whatever the outcome, we just have to be prepared for it. Thats the beauty of FTA again.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by babaegun(m): 7:21pm On Mar 21, 2009
@ALL,

This moresat guys are beginning to make me angry. angry  Its either they are deliberately doing this to us or they are just new at the game.  Why is it that it is only when you are about to watch an important game that their abracadabra card goes off.  It looked like a strategy from their team to make them more relevant in the market.  And if that is their idea, then they need to change their strategy or else, they will soon be out of the market.

If gamma cards can last up to 6 months, then abracadabra card should last for such time too.  This is the way i see it.  if they have up to 26 codes for opening the bouquets for say 6 months,  what they do is to just put  2 of the codes in a patch and release to the public. after a week or two, the codes auto roll and then is used up and when the codes are no longer working, we dont see the channels again and we their customer will be waiting anxiously for them to do their magic.  They will wait a day or two, sample peoples opinion at the sites and then release another 2 or 3 depending on the reactions of people. I think they are stupid if that is what they have been doing. Imagine if you take your decoder to the office for re-patching every time? People will wonder what the hell you are doing carrying around that 'thin' everyday.

It is high time I start saving for a better card.

@graciousme
Am sooooo sorry for not replying your messages. I've not been around and have been very busy lately.  I think you need to change your LNB. I think the one you are using is not working well. Also, you may still need the 2.4m dish for your nilesat.
