The only way to stop or reduces guessing answers is not to provide multiple choice questions. |

All legal avenues and process must be exhausted to ensure an innocent man is not executed by mistake. oluwadanie1: Is Beauty More Rewarding Than The Brain In Nigeria? By Ishola Kayode
In this era where there is an “unjust” pontification on Beauty over the brain, one needs to wonder a little the trends that preceded and made things turn that way.
Its a common thing to see people who made success in the fashion, entertainment, modelling and many other relevant industries that will be placed in the “beauty” category being giving more than enough kudos and attention.
The story of Bread seller turned model Olajumoke and most recently the first Unilag graduate to have hit the much coveted “perfect distinction” of 5.0. Their cases can be said to be a perfect and the most relevant example of the beauty and the brain.
When Olajumoke was discovered, her life took a total turn around. She got the most media attention. She got a new and fresh apartment, was reunited with her hobby, got an interview on CNN, became a motivational speaker, has featured in numerous photo shoots just to remain in the news…and a myriad of other motivations and rewards. Her benefactor,T.Y bello also featured in the show as many “Nigerians” kept showering praises on her…her act also prompted some celebrities to follow suit in turning around lives..
Yesterday, the University of Lagos unveiled their record setting graduate… Who hit the target by attaining a 5.0 CGPA. This guy failed to get less than an A in all his numerous courses throughout his undergraduate years. That’s a hell of achievement and as usual the media is reporting it but not like that of the Breadseller turned Model’s story..Why? That’s because Nigerians will become adamant and hypocritic judge instantly cause his success was not inspired by a notable celebrity. No T.Y Bello, Olamide, Don Jazzy, Lindaikeji in his story..Hmm, No interviews on CNN, so far it’s been just a mention on NTA. No photoshoots (Lolz..that may not be necessary though), No academic oriented firm or NGO is reporting or commending him “visibly” plus the fact that some folks are commonising this laudable feat and making dumb cracks with it..
Anyway, this is not the first time this beauty and the brain ratings is taking the space and as usual, we all know which will win..
Just that I feel if we want to develop as a nation, I mean if we wanna leave the stage of the developing nations to the developed ones..We need to reward and promote people with the brain. Not forgetting that if we fail to honour them, we are deterring hardworking and excellence in the Academic niche and its takes little time for the consequences to manifest in our Nation.
http://kaybaba.com/is-beauty-more-rewarding-than-the-brain-in-nigeria-olajumoke-and-unilags-5-0-graduate/ The prize for an education is knowledge. That is what he signed up for. Or are you saying we should swap knowledge for fame? I'd take knowledge any day. The reward for knowledge is knowledge in itself which you can use to do wonderful things. No one goes to university expecting to graduate with good grades and be given prizes just for that. |

I agree with everything but the first one. The morning is not the time to plan. Successful people/managers plan the night before to get ready for the next day. The night before is like making hay while the sun shines. So many things can go wrong in the morning that may slow you down. But if you had planned in advance, you could mitigate those clogs in the wheel. |

Toks2008: Before i dwell on the matter i would like to welcome every Lady Nairalander who has perfected the act of E-cursing to come on board especially those who are still far from the reality of marriage to call me names like monster, misogynist or any other name that comes to your mind.
Yes we know that philandering is a hell bound sin and adultery is very sinful so this is not about justifying or encouraging the act but does that change the fact that a man who will cheat on you will do and some guys will never cheat on the woman in their life but unfortunately there is no way this can be written on their foreheads.
Many ladies hate to hear the word "Polygamy" but do you know that POLYGAMY IS THE ANSWER TO THE PRAYERS OF MANY LADIES such as:
1.Many never married single ladies in the late 30s and in their 40s. 2.Many lady divorcées with children. 3.Many widows in their 30s and 40s
Apparently it is the married men that will fancy these set of ladies MORE and only a lady in their shoes will relate perfectly to my stands and i believe it makes no sense for a man to divorce an innocent wife because he desires another woman.
How hypocritical it is that ladies will prefer a man to be married to them alone and keep side dishes rather than for the same hubby to marry more wives and remain faithful to them? Same ladies that talk down on polygamy will be the same having affairs with married men and i just wonder at the level of hypocrisy and foolishness.
And even more pathetic is the fact that a lady will divorce her husband because he decides to marry or date another lady just for her to end up as a mistress to another married man or starts sleeping around shamelessly after divorce. SO IF YOU ARE NOT READY FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF SHARING YOUR HUSBAND WITH ANOTHER WOMAN EITHER AS A MISTRESS OR ANOTHER WIFE PLEASE DON'T BOTHER GETTING MARRIED.
I know many ladies will say a man should also be ready to share his wife too but please you are free as a lady to marry more than one husband at the same time if you can
This is not the way it should be but a fact you must accept as a lady or stay single for life. Are you phucking ret.ard.ed? Wait. Don't answer that. It's obvious. My bad. |

LoveMachine: As I said we're not perfect. But there is a saying. "someone will lie they will steal. If someone will steal they will kill." The degeneration of crime is a known fact. Few people start off as Escobar.
When someone is caught red handed the only reason they are suspected is because they are yet to be arraigned. Once again I'm not condoning the act but more than anything explaining the thought process. The people of Africa when in a healthy environment do healthy things. If Africans were the beasts and devils you are making us out to be we wouldn't be allowed into countries world over. Furthermore, we wouldn't be the highest achieving groups in said countries upon arrival.
Look at Anambra. Just a few years ago it was insane out there. In a few years time look at the sanity that has come. We don't have half the infrastructure of most "developed" places and yet sanity has already returned.
We have our problems and without outside interference we will correct them. If you want to believe you are the only civilized one among a people of beats, ghouls, wraiths and goblins it's your life. I know what I know. Peace. Roger that sgt! |

LoveMachine: That's an isolated event of the people taking out their collective frustration on the only people they can get their hands on. They leave the body as a warning to anyone else not to try the crime.
I like how you pointed out that it is a thief being accosted. Not a law abiding citizen but someone who is attempting to affect someone's livelihood and take food out of their children's mouths. They would do the same to the evil politicians but they have security details and armored vehicles.
The problem with the masses is they attack the irritator and not the dominator. That's by design due to miseducation.
Rather than stop the looting politicians who create an environment where a person would feel desperate enough to become a thief the people only attack the thief. That's like swatting flies rather than throwing out the trash. The same can be said of you when you question the peaceful nature of Africans rather than looking at the environment that leads to them being that way.
I doubt we'll agree but I truly do appreciate your outlook. Another vantage point is nice to learn about even if it is contrary to mine. I said " suspected thief". Last time i checked, suspects are arrested and tried. Not summarily executed. You said, " They leave the body as a warning to anyone else not to try the crime", really? Thanks for proving my point. |

LoveMachine: Violent how? Everyone says Africans are suffering and smiling. We are constantly rated the "most happy" countries on Earth. Don't mistake aggressive for violent. We speak loud and gesticulate. We dance and sing. We eat with our hands and share with our neighbors. We overspend and very bright, ostentatious clothing Yes we live in a vibrant manner but I can't agree on us being a violent people. Funny. Haven't you watched terrorists dance and sing? Just because you dance and sing does not mean you are peaceful you know. I could be taking a stroll on a street in Lagos and the next minute i could witness the burning of a suspected thief. That is not the problem. It could happen in any society. What bothers me is the indifference of Nigerians in situations like that. They jump for joy and even fuel the event with chants. Even after the deed is done, the body is left on the streets, sometimes for days and nobody says anything about it on the news or in papers condemning it. Even on this forum, a vast majority of comment praise such actions. If that behavior is that of a peaceful people then i want to live in a violent society. |
Politics › Re: ABA 'MASS GRAVE': We're Still Investigating - Amnesty International by banmee(m): 4:16am On Feb 26, 2016 |
LoveMachine: Your problem is you make assumptions with no facts to back up your claims. You just said I stay in one place. Assumptions have a funny way of making an ass out of the culprit. Please don't speak on me as if you know me. I've traveled extensively and my contacts and interactions are wide and vast. Please if you want to be a coon and self hating by all means it's your own funeral. I know better so I'll show better.
I have never said any society was without crime. I said Africans are peaceful. Any group of people that have been and are subjected to the constant atrocities that have befallen Africans world over are allotted some leeway.
I'm yet to claim we are without fault. I'm saying we are good people who are in a bad situation. Conversely, the other guys are bad people in a good situation. Which is why i'm thoroughly confused as to your assertions that you are well traveled. Anyone who has been exposed to cultured societies will know first hand that Africans are very violent. Well, i guess you are immune. |

LoveMachine: Judging by your screen name I'm not sure if you are a troll but to be decent and not make any assumptions I'll play.
Yes Africans are peace loving. For all that we suffer through for the most part we don't maim, kill, steal, plunder and rape. How long was the NE left to decay until it became a warzone. Look at the US with all their infrastructure and alleged advancements I'm more likely to die in some of their cities than here Naija. When we go out there we achieve at a higher rate than any other groups and hardly commit crime or get into any other trouble. They couldn't last a month in our shoes.
Have you ever seen what goes on in trailer parks? There is an American singer Ted Nugent who has songs about pedophilia. He was on the campaign trail with a presidential nominee and is frequently featured on Fox News TV segments as a guest speaker. There is something wrong with those people.
I stand by my claims. There are vast areas in West Africa that scientific excavations have proven to be war free free prior to the arrival of whites. If left to our own devices we are good to one another. People call it crabs in a barrel mentality as if a barrel is a crab's natural environment.
I'm not letting us off the hook for our shortcomings because we must do better but I won't accept blame for what is not our doing. The problem with people like you is when you stay too long in one place, the rot around you seems normal. To you, Africans are peace loving because your environment is all you know. Explore and i promise you, your perception will evolve. You pick random facts to support your subjective views as if there is no society without crime. The point is what are the percentages? How often does it occur compared to other societies? Ol boy. Start exploring other societies. Not google ooooo. |

cococandy: I've always wondered. Really is there a world of spirits? I'm not talking about heaven and hell and God and his angels etc etc.
Some people claim to have a connection with the spirit realm. Others believe our long gone ancestors are the inhabitants of the spirit world from where they can observe us and once in a while make appearences to whomever they chose.
Some believe spirits are just creatures of God in another world or time(sort of) who have limited interaction with us
I was told my grandfather claimed to interact with his great grandfathers and grandfatehr before he passed on just close to the time of his death. I believed it then, but now,I don't know.
Could he have been hallucinating as a result of very old age(he was quite old) or having memory replays that felt so real?
I've read and heard other similar accounts where living people believe they can see the spirits and understand them.
Share your experience. Mrs Foodo take your time ooooo. No let me change my mind about you. There is no such thing. People who have poor decision making skills often blame their misfortunes on the superstitious. Which is one of the reasons Nigerians can't seem to move forward. |
