Eko Ile: We both know all this is irrelevant and redundant at least till you are able to list how much was spent constructing the houses from what was paid to acquire the land to material and manpower cost and overhead cost. This is how you determine if the prices are too much or too low.
I'm not even sure what you are going on and on about, we are talking about a project that was designed for high end and rich buyers and you are here complaining about low income? What part of the article you do not understand?
This is an investment project designed to make money, not to lose money and they never asserted that this flats are for low income people. If people want to pay a billion dollars for it, good for them and the state, it means more money for the state to spend on schools, hospitals, transportation and other social needs.
Low cost housing doesn't mean buying a house for 18,000 naira minimum wage, it means the houses are priced lower than what's available elsewhere in the market place in conjunction with low interest rates and favorable lending terms.
Or do you mean lets say it cost the state 1 million to build a flat, they should give it to people for 50,000 naira because they are low income? What's your point really?
To tell you the truth, apart from investment projects like this very project, I don't think the government should be in any kind of government public housing scheme. The government can not satisfy everybody's accommodation needs simply because market realities like the price of cement and other building materials including manpower dictates the price of the end product and in most cases, the cost pf the end product is still far and far away from the pockets of the same low income people and if you still say so what, then welcome to a foolish and bankrupt government.
Thousands of people leave their towns and villages everyday and head to Lagos looking for a better life which is fine, but every head inside Lagos strains the system and the state is not getting any extra assistance from the federal government for shouldering what's mostly their problem and failure.
With just 2 billion dollars, Lagos state can not adequately provide for everybody even though we hope and pray that it's possible, but these are the realities. People come in here to cry and yell, but always fail to be realistic with their expectations.
Everything in this world has limitations and the state's limitation is it's budget, you can not spend or function beyond your means.
Please get real. Tell them! |

This is how the seed of disharmony is sown; select the right targets (here the VP and Finance minister) then start a whisper campaign (this unverified report from The Punch) now watch it grow. Since Nigerians love sensations whether true or not, this story will keep appearing in different forms till the truth puts and end to it. Just you watch! |

Whats so hard to grasp, its all petty opposition politics. If you belong to one group you have to always portray the others in bad light whether they deserve it all not - at least that's how it operates here. Funny thing is they become agitated when similar treatment is metted out to them. |

The ideas presented here only have to face the harsh reality of the jailbreaking effect before they melt away in frustration. Well enough of my grim prophecy but running a game rental store these days might be especially challenging considering how many Nigerians have taken to jailbreaking their consoles.
BTW whatever happen to Replay 9ja they were into this kind of business? |

I bow for some people o.
LOL.
They will start shitting in their pants in defence of a Fashola. Hope you have a tissue paper near to you. Or is it water that you use in abluting the shi t? Trying to use semantics to wiggle your way out of this? Anyhow we all know what your intent is. Oga when something good is done even by the opposition commend it or leave it alone. I used to think you were upset that the criticism that GEJ was getting was unfair but with these your recent comments you come across as just another paid hack - because you are doing what you appear to be against. I'm amazed at the clownish things being said here. It seems people are just looking for a reason to hate on SA. All the issues raised here are non-starters or lame. badesco: Nigeria has sold it birthright, if not, how on earth a foreign company will maltreat a Nigerian citizens with inpunity on Nigerian soil. unless we physically and legally fight for our right. the so DSTV thinks they have monopoly of the biz thereby dont care about what anybody say or do. Which birthright is this one talking about? [quote author=ochi-aha link=topic=723226.msg9337621#msg9337621 date=1318595803]Until we stop having a duopoly (two strong sellers, Multichoice and other Satelliate TV Companies) in the Satelliate TV Broadcasting market here in Nigeria, Multichoice will definitely continue to take their clients for granted; the matter is made worse because Multichoice is the stronger partner in this duopoly.
