Coconut water makes peolpe dull? I’d quickly classify this under the ‘Eating- garri-and-mango-at-the-same-time-results-in-death’ category. All that hogwash that was fed to us when we were kids by cunning adults for their own purposes. smiley

I think people underestimate the extent of damage that can be caused by displaying personal information on social networks and public forums. There are miscreants and lowlifes that prowl the internet looking for such information and details to exploit. Be careful, especially for your children, they have a right to be protected.

Lol@ the picture. We all know almost all of Nigeria's airports are a joke. The only reasonable looking airports I have seen that we have are the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, MM2 and Warri airport. PH airport (Omagwa) is so dilapidated its amazing it still functions (despite the so-called renovations). Same goes for Benin. They all need a facelift.

See question. The OP obviously believes that Lagos has excess revenue or at least enough to meet its needs. I'd rather that the nation's commerce capital be given the funds than the FG spend it on some useless jamboree like the independence celebrations of last October.

ikooko:
I will take this to mean that you have not personally maintain a car before (single), perhaps you just call your mechanic (husband) to fix it up anytime you have issue; that is if you get chance to do that at all (Oga-madam).

On the tyre analogy, an experienced driver understand that  a brand new tyre can give way anytime due to a lot of factors such as bad roads, sharp objects, excess pressure, loose valve etc etc. In fact a brand new car can breakdown without warning.

I would suggest you try another analogy, this car/tyre analogy is just too inadequate to drive off your point.

Really i will accept that not all men cheat their wives if 50 men out of 717,268 members on NL who have been married for 50 years can testify that they have never cheated on their wives in their 50 years of marriage. why 50 years? because i belief that for a man to be that old in marriage, he must be at least 75 years old, he must has seen it all and probably sexually irrelevant/inactive  to intimate pleasure than younger men.
I was going to leave that analogy alone but I noticed that you are getting it all wrong. The bad roads, or sharp objects or excess pressure and loose valves that you mentioned are ALL faults of some kind. A normal unaffected tire will not go flat without some kind of fault causing it!  And don’t give me that bull about me not driving or fixing my car –I’ve been driving since I left secondary school. cool In case the point I’m trying to make with all this is not clear: that the fact that such a thing can happen doesn’t mean that it must happen. Comprende?

@Cold
I just watched the video but firstly I have to ask: Is the lady some kind of all-knowing guru? As in is she an expert with new insight? cheesy Anyways I agree with some of what she has said but I will not buy any such talk that men must cheat on their wives just because they are men. Read my first post on this thread somewhere on the second page and try to grasp what I said there.

Read you comment again and criticize yourself.
Look at it this way, If a car did not break down today does not mean it will not break down all, it is a matter of time. It could be as small as having a flat tyre. Isn't it suffice to say that car break down is natural with cars.
HA wink HA wink HA wink HA wink HA wink HA wink
A car’s flat tire is as a result of a fault not so? Will a properly maintained tire that is used correctly just go flat without any reason? Will a (good) man just because he is a man cheat on his wife? Anyways that was a rough analogy and can only be stretched so far. I think that at this point it is clear that many people actually like this idea that men will cheat at some point. What better way to shy away from the defect in character that they have acquired than to pass it off as natural.  sad

cold:
It's human nature to always want more. Some people's shoe room have more shelves than Walmart, their wardrobe nko, they want a new cloth every other day. They'd want their garages brimming with top of the range cars & yet say the longing to have more is unnatural  huh Even the strongest of men have fallen for the  wiles of the so called 'weaker sex';Samson,David (whom God referred to as 'a man after my own heart') Solomon, etc talk less of lesser mortals that dwell in this day & age.
That does not in any way justify infidelity but it is nonsensical to say it is unnatural
Perhaps a rough analogy to make my points clearer. The fact that a car breaks down on the highway doesn’t mean all cars must break down or that it is in the nature of good cars to break down. The breakdown occurs only when the car is badly driven or poorly maintained. So also it is not natural that all men will cheat unless off course as a result of weak character or no integrity. Again I will repeat myself: Men should stop hiding under this excuse that it’s in our nature to cheat. Cheating is not natural!

In many of the posts here we see what seems like a spirited defense for what is wrong and unnatural. Twist and turn as you may, the fact that many people choose to cheat does not make it a natural law. They have chosen to do so, they were not compelled by any forces whether natural or otherwise. It is a weakness that they have allowed upon themselves. Lets stop stop attributing it to such fantastic reasons like race, culture or genetics.
Family › Re: by Bawss1(m): 9:04pm On Jul 11, 2011
The s.exual instinct as it is today is a highly charged one. One that we as a species have strengthened over millennia through over indulgence. Everywhere one looks this excess abounds and it is understandable that some might reach the conclusion that men have no control over themselves here, that they are subject to the workings of theirs genes and thus are inherently polygamous. It is an understandable conclusion but it wrong and misguided. As CC pointed out earlier a man who cheats on his wife or gf is not a man of integrity and this weakness will most likely show itself in other areas of his life. Choosing to believe that (ALL) men will cheat on their wives if chanced because of their so called "nature" is a welcome delusion for many, it takes away the nagging sense of responsibility and guilt.
Family › Re: by Bawss1(m): 5:38pm On Jul 11, 2011
Here is another way of expressing my points. People who are of a high spiritual standing (i.e. they strive for the good) will have no inclination to cheat even when faced with the opportunity. They are guided by nobler impulses (like the desire to protect, to care etc) and are beyond the control of baser instincts. Just like a well behaved student will not need the rules in class to be quiet and obedient, the compliance with the class rules comes naturally to such a student.

Yeah. I found that out only after I had beat the geezer the hard way. angry There are a couple of other cheats to beat The End but that one was probably the illest. cool
Family › Re: by Bawss1(m): 5:15pm On Jul 11, 2011
I'll probably confuse some people with the following but for what its worth here goes:

The argument that men are polygamous is a veil to cover the deep seated vice that some people have given control over to.  That argument would have been given legitimacy if the core of us humans was entirely earthly or should I say animistic but that is not so. There is more to a person that just flesh and blood or chemistry and biology. We are at our inner most core spiritual beings and the spiritual always strives for the noble anytime it is expressed. It is this expression of nobility that lends itself to the adoption of exclusive or should I say monogamous relationships. The more a society matured, i.e. the more the society revealed its spiritual nature and did away with the animistic and became more humane, the more monogamous relationships became wide spread. That many people want to maintain that we are polygamous is in fact retrogressive; it is just a baseless attempt to justify the weakness that many people still carry within themselves.

Where is the joy in a game if you can finish it in one day at the first try? I know some games can be annoyingly difficult that you feel like driving over the disc with a steam roller but one has to relish the days when you go to bed dreaming about alternative ways to defeat a boss or complete a level. Challenges that are not easily bested usually have the most delicious victories lingering afterwards.

One of such memories for me was in defeating The End in Snake Eater (MGS3). After many weeks of trying to beat that nasty geezer I had become exasperated but when I finally got him in a corner the joy in spraying him with my XM16E1 was boundless. Then there was finishing the Homeland Security stage of MW2 Spec Ops in Veteran mode. I probably tried that level about 200 times before I could finish it but that was a victory that I always relish.

You've just got to love such games.

You must be new here. It is the unquestionable law of the land that a woman should not only marry a man with just a job but a very high paying one. Nobody will let their daughter do otherwise. Deal with it jobless men or better still get a job. smiley
