aisha2: His daughter won't stay on pause, she will grow up and he will grow old probably retired then, longing for attention then but there will be none because the bonding stage has passed. If fathers from that age will teach their daughter through acts of love like this that money is not everything and money can't buy her love. He could have bought her an expensive toy instead but he gave something more valuable his heart and time, this made me cryHands her handkerchief.... |

macof: It relates. The major reason why Africans today speak against polygamy is because of christianity, this is wat they are taught in churchWhere in the bible did God say, people should practise polygamy? I don't discuss religion in forums, I'd rather discuss issues as they affect daily living. Christianity is not the major reason why polygamy is kicked against. Humans generally are territorial, and no one is happy sharing what should belong to him/her alone. Meanwhile, Abraham's polygamy wasn't an intentional choice but more of an accident. The effect of it today is a good example that Polygamy births more if evil than good. |
macof: In other words Abraham shouldn't be a role model in christianityTrust me, you can't finish this project you are aiming at starting. Your ilks will be the first to cry foul when it eventually goes south.... Always keep quiet on a subject you have no idea or grasp. |
macof: And wat was Abraham thr so called father of your faith? You can ask your question with decorum. Don't turn this thread to religious war. This is how it starts. Be civil pls. |
For the female singles on this thread, please and please... DO NOT MARRY A MAN WITHOUT BALLS. IF he cannot take decision on and of his own, you are in for a long and tough ride. Prevention they say is better than cure. |
bossladyMo: Better than nothing oo, lol....only a few glitches along the way. The money we will spend to apply for a 190 after we arrive, we could have spent here in Naija, so all join. There is a review process ongoing. I hope it will be beneficial to all. |

It is better than Nothing.... I didn't know your occupation isn't on SA list. It is well. |

You could have gone with SA. That state is very generous. Its not fair collecting same amount from 489 and denying them some rights. |
ayinba1: You have no idea.......My experience may not be close but it is similar to countless sour polygamous homes. As per your husband married to his mum, I still maintain it is a different ball game. You knew he was mummy's boy before marrying him unlike one springing up surprise by bringing another woman home. You cannot compare oranges with banana |
ayinba1: Let us strive to continue this discourse in a mature manner. My people say if 2 siblings walk into a room, spend some time and come out laughing and giggling, they have been lying to each other behind closed doors. Saying I support or oppose polygamy is a minor here, I am only trying to make us all reason from another angle. You are saying something completely different. I wouldn't understand the "your husband is married to his mother part".. Everybody loves his/her mother irrespective of gender and that doesn't mean everybody is married to his/her mother. I was born into a polygamous settings, I am not closed minded to whatever dynamics therein. If your polygamous is your husband being married to his mother, it is no polygamous. My eyes is not closed to ideas.... I have an open mind especially on issues I have first hand experience. And yes, the discussion is still matured.... |
BossladyMo, Saw you applied for subclass 489. Why? |
ayinba1: Neither. Make and enforce sensible laws that are compatible with Human (or Man) nature. If I were a woman, I wouldn't mind putting him behind bars if he can't obey the law he swore to keep... Any man that thinks he can't stay with one wife should stay clear of the registry. Traditional marriage will cover his excesses. Which law is incompatible with human nature? Monogamy? Then polyandry should be legalized. There shouldn't be a law for the male and another for female. The law was designed for relative sanity in the society. bukatyne: She seems to support polygamySure she does, it is her dillydallying I didn't understand... ![]() |
ayinba1: I am sure you have such laws in Nigeria. The moment the law begins to get properly enforced, the following will happenWhat are you driving at? It is not good to enforce the law or it should be expunged? |
ayinba1: Are you married? am just trying to see what angle each contributor is writing from. And you believe we do not have such law in Nigeria? If the OP has a court marriage certificate, her husband is playing with 21yrs behind bars if she wants to expose him. The Nigerian marriage law is against polygamy except its done outside the registry. |
Kenyan85: If i send an email on my 6th week waiting, would it be appropriate? Because i have no idea what "normal waiting time" is.Nothing wrong in asking question. You would either be ignored or answered. |
Kenyan85: I was hoping for some insight please please.Send an email to them for status update. |

ephee: sure.tanksYou are welcome. Stay strong and sane for your child's sake. Do not let the vicious cycle continue. Treat the baby with respect and dignity. Need I say that you should find a place in your heart to forgive your mum. Her action is a misplaced transfer of aggression. She was deeply pained about your dad. |
kreamidiva: Good evening sir.Good evening Madam... Quite an age. Ephee, You need to stop trying too hard to please her. If you keep doing this, you may lose sense of sanity. Once you get a job, save money to get a place of yours and leave her house. |
Do you have a good resemblance of your dad? If you have a job, move out of her house. You will be better staying alone than being battered with words daily. |
I hope this will not be turned to a religious thread. There shouldn't be any religious reference to whether it is good or bad. Only for people to state their experiences. @TV01 Not one. I was told the home was "fragily" peaceful until the sixth wife came in. That was before I came to the world... I didn't grow up to enjoy anything good about polygamy. |
My dad had six wives with unknown number of concubines. I do not have a single good story to share about polygamous home. |
9janinja: "pick them one after the other " hmmm for a complicated and weird human-being like me wit a low self esteem ?He that walks with the wise shall be wise..... First deal with the self esteem issue. Check resources on the internet on how to handle it. Be friends with people of high confidence and good character. People who value others and have good values about life. Let this sink in your memory that "A man's worth is not defined by his possessions...." It may take time but your goals are achievable. This is coming from someone who had no self worth at a point but now my confidence level is extraordinaire.... Come out of your shell and do that which you alone must do. |
4llerbuntu: who sabi where I fit watch/download highlights of matches please. ...www.goalsarena.org |
@SubomiOluwa, It is well with you and yours.... |
Contrary to the opinions of many, a secret wedding is no wedding in the real sense of it. When none of the parents is aware, it means nothing but a facade. The parents must be in the know for you to call anything marriage especially the bride's father or his representative. |
ironbender101: Wow thanks for the advice. My major reason for coming to Aussie is just for PR because im a comfortable business man, now I'm having a rethink....There are other avenues to get a PR aside through university. |
