I agree with you. Now this is where WHO should've set a standard metric to determine how a region or country would be declared as making progress in the containment or fight against the virus. WHO should say for example, a country must be testing up to 10000 persons per day with Bleep number of cases reported, yyyy number of active cases, zzzzz number of discharged cases and abcd number of new cases daily. May be they do have it in place but I don't know. You can't be testing less people and be aiming low active cases. As for your neighbor, sad but he can declare force majeure now on the loan... He should read the fine lines in the terms and conditions of the loan maybe there's a clause in this regard but one would expect lenders now to understand not everyone would be in the position to pay off their loans timely. Investnow2017: You see why most people who have been following the global trend have been calling a rapid ramping up of our testing. This late man no travel history, meanwhile our system seems to be prioritizing those with travel history.
Someone said that the pandemic figures are going down. I completely disagree. The spread is a major factor. That Italy and Spain have attained their peak is no parameter for reaching such a hasty conclusion. Many countries, like Nigeria, have not reached their peak. My cursory pick are countries like:
Turkey Belgium Canada Brazil Russia Portugal India Chile Ireland Peru Romania Mexico Indonesia UAE Belarus Qatar Singapore Uzbekistan Bangladesh Ghana Cameroon Serbia Ukraine Morocco
All these are yet to peak, and their peaking will be highly determined by the sustenance and effectiveness of the measures put in place to reverse the curve.
Increased and sustained testing will go a long way. Even for countries that have peaked, there will still be rolling spikes until a vaccine is found and released which will not happen until a year's time.
Now the BIG QUESTION is can the world, especially emerging economies like Nigeria afford to lockdown assuming the figures continue to rise for say the next 2 months ?
I think we have the choice to look for a way to live around this virus. We cannot continue to lock down, it is not sustenable. In trying to fashion a solution to a problem we must put our peculiar context into consideration, and we know what our context is - close to 80% rely on meagre wages to put food on table for our usually large and extended families. Many operate within the spectrum of our informal economy.
For instance, a neighbour took a loan of some N3m to run a short biz on interest of 20% to be returned at the end of 30days. A day after he received the facility he immediately placed an order for the materials and a few hours later the lockdown was announced. Now money was not borrowed from the bank but from an informal set up, what hope is there to pay up on time when the goods have been stuck for three weeks now? And would lender be willing to grant some moratorium?
Now while others are testing for covid-19, this man is hourly testing his BP, and the lockdown has been extended, and the covid-19 new cases are increasing! |

This na CoroPreek Virus ....you give dem head ni or why are you stooling? Scaredd: Good day everyone,
I'm the guy that likes to flirt with women (trying so hard to change). Sometime last year November, I hand some sex encounters with 4 different women (2 unprotected) and by first week of December I started experiencing some symptoms which include;
1.White tongue 2. Occassional diarrhoea (watery, oily and formy stool ever since then. I feel sudden need to ease like twice or thrice a day). 3. A gradual weight loss (I eat very well, mainly fruits and proteins with carbohydrates on average) 4. Occasional hand tremor. 5. Occasional body vibration and fast heart rate.
I used to smoke marijuana and take alcohol, but stopped. I also masturbated for about 5-6yrs, then stopped last year which added to flirting with women. I've not masturbated since then, but still take alcohol (mainly vodka).
I went to a university teaching hospital, met with the consultant and explained to her just as I'm doing here (she was wowed!). She then directed me to do HIV test (came back negative), H. Pylori test (also came out negative) and another test (I've forgotten the name).
She then prescribed, nystatin oral suspension and vitamin B Complex which I've finished taking, yet no change. Meanwhile, I've taken fluconazole, antibacteria and probiotics of late.
I'm waiting for the lockdown to be lifted to go back, but before then, (who knows when this whole problem will end) felt i might get some help here.
Please Doctors, what could be wrong with me. Especially this diarrhoea and white tongue. My stomach is always rumbling after eating. Please help.
Thank you.

Family › Re: Is My Dad Trying To Have An Extramarital Affair? by bigtt76(f): 12:10pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
Advise your mum to start dressing attractively like the woman and see changes. whyteteeth: Eversince this lockdown I have been home with my parents and there is a way my dad looks at one particular lady whenever she comes around to buy things in my mother's shop which I think is inappropriate. He teases her and calls her sweet names also. As a guy I have tried not to take it serious since it's one thing a lot of men do but I am beginning to suspect my dad for trying to have an extramarital affair with this said woman. She is beautiful though and she is still a young woman while my dad is in his fifties.
Now today, My father asked this same woman who happens to be a female tailor and makes female clothes to help him fix a zip in one of his trousers, which has possibly gone bad.
The woman blushed and didn't really give him much attention or any reasonable answer while he was busy saying it repeatedly till the woman left. I find this a little bit disturbing and inappropriate and possibly giving wrong signals. I mean it's not like it's a new clothe the woman was making for him or something. .
Another reason why I find this inappropriate and indecent is that, the zip can actually be fixed by any of these aboki people that mend clothes. Aboki do pass around my area every now and then, even yesterday they passed. So I want to know if my dad is up to something? And if he is, well i will just know for knowing sake. |

Number 4 after all the advice but I strongly agree with you though. veave: You're an adult...... 1. You can call them aside especially the boys and advice them one on one.
2. Start chooking the children word small small. Make it public where people are at least shame go catch them.
3. You can talk to their mother, put fear in her body. Tell her the too much work will kill her husband fast and she'll be a widow.
4. Mind your business.
I strongly advise that you go with number 4. Thanks |

Sad but not surprised. Ramadan is just few days away and it's gonna be difficult getting a lockdown in the north sorry to say and I hope they don't start falling ill due to the virus, that would Kickstart another riot against non-Muslims same way the 5G issue is causing ripples among Christians. Interesting times ahead. God save us EmekaBlue: Governor Of Katsina State Allows Jumat Gatherings On Fridays
Despite Katsina state recorded its first covid-19 case and death. Muslim clerics went ahead to approach Governor Masari and forced him to allow normal Jumat prayers.
Meanwhile they also have churches there but if you read the approval letter you will see it only favours their people but this disease can spread to kill the law/abiding sensible Christains in the state and put everyone at risk
What do you have to say about this?

Despite companies being partially shutdown (most are working remotely) some pay for their technology needs such as domain name registration, server hosting, remote developers, security subscriptions etc. Mind you cargoes are still being ordered and paid for as part of the fight against the pandemic. Demand is low but not entirely inexistent SoNature: What services do people pay for in USD at this time when most businesses are shut down? |
Business › Re: Naira Is 410 To A Dollar Without Demand. by bigtt76(f): 7:00am On Apr 08, 2020 |
This is because there's no inflow into the country and to the BDCs for now per CBN's stoppage of sales to them hence the very little they have, they've marked it up to make maximum gain from it. The demand are still there but not much. People still pay for services but in the minority. mekaboy: The Naira exchanges at about 410 to a dollar in the parallel market without any demand. People are not paying for school fees, hospial fees, property of even buying goods abroad. With this low demand, the dollar is 410, what happens when things normalize and business starts ? How much will the Dollar exchange for? |
