What's your point?
The NA have been trying to put certain policies that undermines the President as the president have always complained(cried) about.
If their real intention is to do that, they should call for a new writing of the country's constitution and do all that is necessary limiting the powers of the president. But surely they will not do that because it will also affect their roles.
So we'll end up in this endless fisticuffs between the executive and the legislative.

From what I can deduced, there is a water body close by.It is a sand filled land.Only one particular self con is having this challenge amongst the units of blocks in the compound.
Add water seal to your concrete mix in the process you have suggested and ensure you try to get concrete into the block holes.

Saw it on another thread and I was extremely disappointed with people preaching southern unity rejoicing that the president declined accent, very shocking!
This is a good bill that will benefit the Niger Delta region but as usual the intention is always to undermine the goose that lays the golden eggs!

Unfortunately this coming NASS will be worse than a rubber stamp, another 4 yrs of declining loading. Sha make him sign the electoral act before he will claim it's too close to 2023 elections!

Look at the quoted comment for instance! Bubu's main reason for declining accent is because of reduction of powers of petroleum ministry and this shows a president should not be the petroleum minister.
What exactly happened to the PIB?
Mention how many bills that are operational that actually benefits the ND region?

Good evening fellows, please I need some advise from you guys.A client contacted me that one of self Con built for her by an engineer is flooding inside the room. That water use to come out from the floor and it will raise to a level and then affect a two bedroom unit close to it.
She asked if I can remedy the situation.I intend cutting the wall from about 450mm above(finished floor level). Then break the floor and dig down to about 600mm,fill with sharp sand and blocks, and recast(cement & 3/cool with a damp proof membrane.

Please if there is another way I can achieve a desired result, kindly help me out with such.
Thanks
The height of your foundation(wall) may probably be low.
But if I may ask, does this usually occur when there's a heavy rainfall or there's a water body close by?

JUST AN OPINION

first floor - cross ventilation can be provided for the 2 rooms at the rear end , so why not make provision for it .

first floor - the walk in closet would be very dark if not totally unusable when there is no light, so why not remove the door that leads to it from the toilet and make it a whole wall then make the walk in closet a U - shape facing the windows, this can be achieved by removing the walk in closet walls after entering through the door of the room and leaving only the enclosure walls of the toilet and bath
Nice one.
But don't you think it will be more suitable to interchange the position of the toilet/bath with the closet. Just maintain the opening into the closet without putting a door to throw light into it and you can flush the door to the toilet on the left part of the wall thereby creating more space for your wardrobe on the outside.

You see the problem.?

P.S...I have no link, nor do I work for any DISCO. I even had cause to have a dispute with them over metering of my former residence. I am a bill payer. I also read a lot.
They will never agree that they are making enough cash talk more of exhorbitant profits.
MTN have made more profits in Nigeria even with their generators compared to the profits made in their home country.
Those talks about gas line vandalisation will be hard for someone like me to believe. The reason being that I'm yet to hear of any black market for purchase of gas just like we have for crude.
More so I've been opportuned to do some survey jobs that involves pipelines and we've never come across any of such in the field.

At the same time Nigeria is shortchanging the power industry.

1.DISCOS are being forced by law to charge for power below the cost of production. That is why DISCOS cannot accept all the power GENCOS send...they can't afford it.

2.DISCOS are owed N1trillion by government agencies, and also are owed same amount by consumers. And as a recent BBC programme put it, about 1/3rd of consumers pay for power.

3.Fixing power requires billions of dollars...and since Nigerians and their government are not paying up...how do we fix power?
One would want to assume you're one of those who is a share holder of any of the DISCOs.
Please can you inform us of any significant upgrades/improvements by the DISCOs since they were acquired?

We are all aware how the DISCOs were acquired and all the equipments that the government handed to them which were lying in the ports because NEPA a government agency could not clear the taxes on those imported e quipments.

This issue of DISCOs and GENCOs is another political play by those in the power industry.
Since NEPA was scrapped, we stopped hearing low water level in the dams, no supply of gas, etc, etc,. yet no reasonable power for consumers to use in their respective areas.

When they say about 1/3 of consumers pay, are they referring to those who are billed exhorbitantly for what they don't consume because of that old pattern of pre-determined billing system or in areas where a fixed amount is stipulated ?

good evening sir, when yu said 3/8 sand do yu mean stone dusthuh and is stone dust appropriate for german flooring??
Depending on your location, there are various types and its size varies.
To those who know, its commonly called 3/8" which is the size but its referred to as Coarse Sand. It's an aggregate material and does the same work as granite. It can be used for german flooring and lintel casting.
Not to be used for casting of decking slabs.

You can use it mixed with sharp sand or just it alone with cement. Ensure you use a good mix ratio.

What are the likely disadvantages of a foundation that isn't up to the minimum required thickness? I suspect my bricklayer didn't do justice to the agreed foundation concrete thickness. He claims it is over the recommended thickness (by the architect) in some parts of the foundation and below in some parts. Guy made me have sleepless nights contemplating on the next line of action, should my suspicions be true.

If I should decide to opt for laying the "German floor" over only the foundation block wall, what is the best way to go about it? Do I use thesame materials traditionally used in laying a German floor or just pouring concrete will suffice? I noticed some use concrete, damp proof membrane/leather. Is there need for "iron reinforcement" and what else?

Thanks as you take your time to respond and pls pardon me if I am using the wrong terminologies. I am not too familiar with the technical terms in construction.
Foundation blinding is minimum/maximum of 4"/6"(100mm/150mm). If it falls within this range its okay.
Location matters and if getting granite is expensive there are other alternative aggregate materials that can be used to achieve the oversite concrete(german floor). There are aggregate materials called Brown stones or 3/8 sand(coarse sand), etc, etc.
Your engineer/architect handling the project is in the best position to advice you on the use of DPM, iron reinforcement, etc, etc.

Wagasigiungu:
This job looks neat. Did you use iron reinforcement in casting over the blocks? Is it still possible to do a general German flooring afterwards. This approach is faster and cheaper, in addition to motivating one to strive harder upon seeing ones build rise to lintel level. Lolz. At the very least, it is better than not doing any.

I am considering adopting thesame approach after discussing with my architect, who also serves as the project supervisor by the way.

Ń. B. I can't seem to notice any damp proof membrane or leather (on the blocks) usually spread over the German floors in the picx attached to ur post.
Thanks.
Yes, I did use iron reinforcements before casting.
At that stage one can still do a general concrete flooring. But once blocks are placed on top of the beam, then a general casting can't be done.
The use of damp proof membrane is not a neccessity on this build.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Or Atiku: Anxiety, As Nigeria Enters Crucial Week by bixton(m): 9:11am On Feb 11, 2019
nairavsdollars:
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

This weekend, precisely on February 16, 84 million registered voters in Nigeria will troop out to make one of the most important decisions in the history of the nation – the election of a new President and Commander-in- Chief of the Armed Forces, who will pilot the affairs of the nation for another four years.

The election, the sixth presidential election since the return of Nigeria to democratic system of government in 1999 is a crucial one given the fact that it is a choice between continuity, which the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is canvassing and change, as espoused by the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Aside political parties, Nigerians will also take their destinies in their hands as they choose between President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC candidate and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice-President between 1999 and 2003, who is running on the platform of the PDP. As Bloomberg described it, the election “is a choice between a former dictator and alleged kleptocrat”.

However, not to be ruled out is the threat by other political parties, whose candidates have proven to Nigerians that they are the best alternative to the APC and PDP. These are Kingsley Moghalu, ex- deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) of the Young Progressive Party (YPP); Omoyele Sowore, a former student activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters of African Action Congress (AAC); Fela Durotoye of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN); Gbenga Olawepo- Hashim, a former publicity secretary of the PDP, who is running on the platform of the Peoples Trust (PT), the party endorsed by a coalition of Nigeria’s Civil Society Organisations also known as the ‘Third Force’ movement.

Owing to the crisis within its fold, the leadership of Social Democratic Party (SDP) has already pulled out of the race and has adopted President Buhari as its consensus candidate. The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) had also adopted Buhari following the withdrawal of its presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili. It is expected that within the week, other political parties will also pitch their tent with either the APC or PDP.

‘Atiku’s Last Chance’

Many political watchers and analysts believe that the 2019 presidential election will be the last chance for Atiku given his age. By February 16, Atiku would have clocked 72. Were he to contest and lose again, he would be 76 by 2023 when another presidential election will hold. If he wins, he may, however, seek reelection in 2023, which is allowed by the constitution.

A veteran politician of repute, Atiku is no stranger to contesting presidential elections. In 1992, he contested the presidential primary on the platform the Social Democratic Party (SDP) but lost out to late Chief MKO Abiola. Following the failure of his boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo to handover to him after the expiration of his tenure, Atiku sought the presidency again in the 2007 general election on the platform of the Action Congress (AC), but came third behind the PDP’s candidate, the late Umaru Yar’Adua, who won the election, and the All Nigeria Peoples Party’s candidate (ANPP), Muhammadu Buhari, who came second.

Undaunted, Atiku contested the PDP presidential primary ticket in 2011 but lost out to former President Goodluck Jonathan, who took over as President following Yar’Adua’s demise.

In December 2014, Atiku, then a member of the APC also contested but lost in the party’s presidential primary to Buhari, who eventually won the presidential election in 2015. Now, he stands a better chance contesting on the platform of the PDP, the nation’s major opposition party, which lost out in 2015 after a 16-year dominance.

Having experienced what the APC can deliver in the last four years, millions Nigerians who felt things were better economically under the PDP government see Atiku as a beacon of hope.

Atiku has not minced words about his chances of defeating Buhari in a free, fair, contest.

“I will definitely beat him this time. He has wasted a lot of his massive goodwill. A lot of people are disgruntled but they are keeping quiet and lying low. Our youths are suffering terribly. They are even now being sold into slavery.

“Everyone knows my track record of inviting and attracting a good team and giving them the opportunity to work professionally. Nigerians are tired of leaders who cannot think big and work big,” he once said.

One of his strongest selling points is his promise that his administration will start the process of restructuring the country within six months of his inauguration. This has won him supports from various groups across the country such as Afenifere, Ohanaeze, PANDEF and other pro-restructuring groups.

Buhari’s Next Level On The Spotlight

President Buhari came to office in March 2015 with focus on three key areas namely, revamping the economy, tackling insecurity and war against corruption. Though the President’s media team and supporters of the APC have claimed that he has delivered on his promises, especially in these three key areas, some Nigerians believe the country has been worse off than how it was four years ago.

One of the misgivings Nigerians had against the President was his inability to hit the ground running in the formation of his cabinet. He was also plagued by ill health for a long time, which adversely affected the pace of his government. Now seeking re-election, the President has promised to take governance to the next level.

Recently, the President, while speaking the State House during the presentation of the book, “Nigeria on Firmer Ground, Towards Lasting Peace & Progress,” put together by the Presidential Media Team, declared that his administration has delivered on its promises made to Nigerians in 2015.

According to him, his administration is ready to do more by taking Nigeria to the Next Level of development, prosperity, peace and stability.

He said, “Coming just a week to the commencement of the 2019 general elections, there is no doubt that today’s event is very significant as the electorate is being offered more insights into the achievements of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration since we came to office in 2015.

“From the accounts of all the earlier speakers and what can be gleaned from the book, supported by verifiable facts and figures on projects and programmes implemented in almost every state of the federation, it is clear that our administration has delivered substantially on our campaign promises.

“Riding on the wave of the Change Agenda, which we anchored on making positive impact in the three priority areas of security, economy and fighting corruption, I am convinced that we have made real progress and we are poised to do more by taking Nigeria to the Next Level of development, prosperity, peace and stability”.

Divided Votes

Unlike in 2015 when the presidential election was between a southerner represented by Goodluck Jonathan and a northerner (Buhari), the 2019 presidential election will prove to be a very exciting one because it is strictly a ‘Northern affair’. Both Atiku and Buhari are both Muslims with huge following in the North. While Buhari is from the North-West, precisely Katsina State, Atiku hails from Adamawa State in the North- East.

In a recent interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Festus Keyamo (SAN), spokesman of the President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, said Atiku can never have a share in the number of votes President Buhari had always scored in Northern Nigeria. He said, “ In 2011, we had four presidential candidates from the North. Nuhu Ribadu, Ibrahim Shekarau, Mahmud Waziri and Muhammadu Buhari. Did they divide Buhari’s votes? In fact, that was when he got 12 million votes from the North. Nobody can divide Buhari’s votes in the North”.

However, recent developments in the country did not support Keyamo’s claims. The Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF), one of the popular elite pressure groups in the region, which supported Buhari in the 2015 election, recently said that the forum has dumped Buhari for another Northern presidential candidate.

According to the group’s convener, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, “Buhari was dumped because of his failure to fulfil the basic conditions they handed to him in 2015 when they rejected then president Goodluck Jonathan and elected him.

“Two of the conditions we gave Buhari upon his assumption of office were that he should take concrete steps to address the abject poverty and underdevelopment in the North and he has woefully failed to marginally address any of them,” he said.

Aside the North, both candidates will also battle for votes in other regions especially in the South- South and South East. These two zones were originally referred to as the stronghold of the PDP, but the APC in the last four years has made serious incursion which has culminated in the defection of some former PDP heavyweights such as Godswill Akpabio, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Uduaghan, a former governor of Delta State, Ken Nnamani, a former Senate president and host of others.
