Personally all U'm after is at least a presidential election can be challenge in competent court which was not possible in Nigeria before. More so all these nationality brohaha make no sense to me because Buhari biological father is from Niger Republic so both are guilty on that ground if apc want to go that way. Atiku's lawyers will only end up telling Nigerians of probably the loopsided-ness and inconsistencies in INEC. But they can't use server results to win through the tribunal or any court as its against the electoral constitution. And whoever is thinking they will cancel the election is dreaming . |

festacman: I found it disappointing that some Kano elites have gone to court over the creation of the New Emirates because they want to PRESERVE their age-long HERITAGE of having one emirate serving the massive population of Kano State.
Try to reform Almajiri systems. You hear, "leave it, it is our heritage". Touch early marriage. You hear, "leave it, it is our heritage". Try to modernise cattle rearing. You hear, "leave us alone, wandering about with cattle is heritage". However, how come people use television, phones, and other sophisticated technologies that were never part of their heritage.
Come on gentlemen of the North. Hasten and open up Northern Nigeria before it is left completely behind. Time is running out.
By the way, if Emir Lamido Sanusi is a change agent he always claims he is then let accept this as a necessary sacrifice to move Northern Nigeria to the next level. He should partner and work closely with Emirs. SLS is a change agent but not in the context as we expect him to be. SLS is a man with his own agenda and he will want to see to it. But I believe apart from political reasons what the governor did is the way forward for kano indigenes. Let all embrace it. |

If they intend to do that, then Arya will have to kill Greyworm first, use his face as one of the many faces to get close to her and do that. But all the same....... It's likely not what the movie producers will give us. They have spoilt so many scenes already. Don't need more. |

In that situation, I imagine they'd either call a council to revise the law to allow succession through the female line or the ruling family will change. But since none of that is provided for in either the books or show, I can only guess Westoros law in general.........paraphrasing...... In the total absence of all male sons in the direct family line, the female becomes the true heir before the uncles or distant relatives. |

Magnifico2000: My question is does greyworm know about Jon's parentage? Has Dany in any way told him(greyworm). So why is he acting like that? Is he acting on instincts? Just as you have ,"The Mountain" to Cersei so is "Greyworm" to the Mother of dragons. Danny need not to tell Greyworm about Jon's real identity. While in winterfell, there were not much loved. Guess its justifiable that the north loves themselves rather than strangers. Danny told Greyworm that you'll know when you get my signal. Also don't forget Missandei was the only person who Greyworm came to love and care for. And such from what he said made him weak. He is the only unsullied who is without weakness from birth through training and that's how he became the head amongst them all. Remember what he promised her when the war comes to an end. Well that is not binding on him any more. So I'd expect his character change. Jon became too reserved for numerous reasons. He has chosen to honour his words. Let's see what E6 has in store for us. |

GloryIsaac: @first bolded
This is why Season 1 is very important.
Truly, we don't know the Mad King, but based on those stories about him.... the conversation between Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark, Robert and Jaimie, Ser Barristan Selmy, even Grand Maester Pycelle
He was a good man, such a charmer. To watch him melt away right before my eyes....consumed by dreams of fire and blood... - Grand Maester Pycelle
It's clear that they wanted us to have good knowledge of who the man was, based on stories told by those who sat with him and rebelled against him.
Maester Aemon deliberately made a decision to join the Nights Watch because he wanted to be away from the political games being played.
@Second bolded
That's why their words were important. I believe that if they really wanted to start from the very beginning, it would have swallowed their budget. So, a lot of events were put into words, to carry us along.
@Third bolded
As earlier said, their words have more meaning than we might even think.
Arya killing the Night King is a strong proof. In as much as i was pissed, shocked, annoyed, frozen etc that of all the characters, Arya was the one who killed my king. It was clearly foretold by Melisandre, but we paid little attention to those words.
"I see a darkness in you. And in that darkness, eyes staring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes sealed shut forever. We will meet again." - Melisandre (To Arya)
It's a pity that G.O.T is coming to an end, if not for anything, it personally taught me how important words are, no matter how or where or when it is said. Good, Good , Good. Those words reinvigorated Arya and if I'm not mistaken that's like the second time she spoke against not giving in to death. The Night king was a pretty nice guy. It was good the producer/director gave him 2 special facial expressions in his entire role. I so wished there were not in a rush to put the movie to conclusion. There are so many secrets left unexplained. |

GloryIsaac: I'm definitely going to rewatch everything - Season 1 - Season 7 - some time later.
With that being said, truth is, there is really no justification for Dany's madness.
The reason is because her life is very similar to that of her father. Varys served under her father, so he has a very impressive curriculum vitae when it comes to knowing the Targaryans. Even Ser Barristan Selmy was wary of it.
"I am no maester to quote history at you, Your Grace. Swords have been my life, not books. But every child knows that the Targaryens have always danced too close to madness. Your father was not the first. King Jaehaerys once told me that madness and greatness are two sides of the same coin. Every time a new Targaryen is born, he said, the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land." - Ser Barristan (To Daenarys a.k.a Mad Queen)
There are similarities between her life and her father's, and how they reacted to situations when pissed off. So if you defend her actions and say she isn't mad, then you can also defend her father's actions and say he isn't mad, whereas he is known as The Mad King.
This is part of her conversation with Tyrion in the throne room...
Tyrion: "The people who live there. They’re not your enemies. They’re innocents, like the ones you liberated in Meereen."
Dany: "In Meereen, slaves turned on the masters and liberated the city themselves the moment I arrived."
Tyrion: "They’re afraid. Anyone who resists Cersei will see his family butchered. You can’t expect them to be heroes. They’re hostages."
Dany: "They are. In a tyrant’s grip. Whose fault is that? Mine?"
Tyrion: "What does it matter whose fault it is? Thousands of children will die if the city burns."
Dany: "Your sister knows how to use her enemies’ weaknesses against them. That’s what she thinks our mercy is.....Weakness."
Tyrion: "I beg you, my queen..."
Dany: ....but she’s wrong. Mercy is our strength. Our mercy toward future generations who will never again be held hostage by a tyrant."
This conversation clearly shows that Daenarys had already made up her mind on burning the city, innocents included. The only thing that would have stopped this is if the people fought Cersei like the slaves in Meeren and saved her the stress of even fighting a soul. Which could also have meant that they love her, the love she has been searching for.
Unfortunately, the people of Westeros and the people of Essos are quite different. She was highly pissed that she had to scare them before they rang the bell, so since they prefer fear, let it be so.
"Dracarys".
"Burn them all". Nice one. Apologies but we don't know the mad king other than what we were told or some stories/quotes made about the mad-Ness of the Targaryens. Don't you think it was a deliberate act to send Maester Aemon to the Night Watch? I'd want to stick to what the movie offered, following everybody's role and judging their actions. The actions of the characters is quite limited in the season movie when compared to that in the novel's. Every word spoken you quoted, has just 2 sides like a coin. And most of those words don't have literal meanings as we make want them to. Those it would benefit or affect are the real actors and everything depends on how each plays out their roles. |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by bixton(m): 5:03pm On May 15, 2019*. Modified: 5:22pm On May 15, 2019 |
GloryIsaac: In all honesty, i had always known that Dany was going to turn mad, the excuse of doing what is necessary doesn't cut it. Thankfully, the show writers proved me right. I have my reasons....
1. Ever since those dragons matured, Dany has been burning people everywhere. At first, it seemed like she was the savior of the world, so a lot of fans didn't pick the clues that the writers were dropping. The burning of Sam's father and brother was a very strong message about a potential Mad Queen.
2. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Dany was hellbent on ruling the seven kingdoms at any cost, which is why Varys was bothered about her state of mind. Remember that Varys served under the Mad King, and a lot of others after him, so he clearly saw similar traits between father and daughter. Jon's refusal to be King made Varys even support him the more.
3. Dany rarely made decisions herself, which made me believe she wasn't worthy of being queen. She was excellent at saying 'Dracarys', but when it came to the major decisions that didn't have anything to do with execution....there was Ser Jorah - King of the Friendzone -, Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow, Missandei, Lord Varys.
4. It wasn't necessary to burn down Kings Landing with all the innocents in it, but she made up her mind to do so because they didn't love her and to spite Cersei. Isn't that madness?, the children on the streets had absolutely nothing to do with the power tussle.
5. When she told Jon to hide his true identity, it was clear that insanity was already rising in her. She was desperate to rule the seven kingdoms and was going to do it at any cost.
"I spent my life in foreign lands. So many men have tried to kill me, I don't remember all their names. I have been sold like a broodmare. I've been chained and betrayed, raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing through all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any gods. Not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen. The world hadn't seen a dragon in centuries until my children were born. The Dothraki hadn't crossed the sea. Any sea. They did for me. I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms, and I will." - The Mad Queen (To Jon Snow) You need to watch the seasons' again and get a different view. In as much as its a movie, you should also be aware of ancient stories in times of war......... 1) She is the heir to the throne and in her quest to conquer those who refused to bend the knee will be given the ultimate punishment/sentence. The other option was to put them in prison, seize their lands, strip them of their titles, etc,etc.....but she got no time for such. Her burning act sent the right message. And that did in no way qualify her to be called the mad queen. 2) She was never the mad queen. Vary's was only toying with the possibility of making things right which he claims. He has his reasons same ways little finger does what he does. Vary was warned and he took his chances. The roles played by both Varys and Tyrion was sort of to have a balance of character. Varys claims to do whatever he does for the interest of the throne and we all see where the interest takes us to after the death of more than 5 kings. Tyrion is not interested in such scheming interests. 3) Dany is filled with hatred over alot of things and given the history of the mad king she refused making certain decisions and allowed her appointed staffs to play their roles effectively. A true leader needs such traits even if he/she may likely not adhere to the advices/decisions from others. 4) Two things made her do that. 1, The beheading of Missandei. 2, Yes she was enraged, and she never wanted to believe the sounding of the bells will actually make Cersei to surrender and Tyrion has actually been outsmarted by Cersei on his every move. With just one Dragon to her breast there's no need playing soft. You don't expect her to lose all her children and not win the last war. 5) Yes, she coveted the throne and wanted it at all cost. So she expected Jon who is a nephew to make his real identity a secret. She has previously made her intentions known to Sansa when she refused letting go, of the Northern Kingdoms to be on their own and have their king. |

Venerable612: It’s relative. Some, and I would say quite a lot, of graduates from Nigerian Universities too cannot even write application letters. Punctuations are so bad - and they are even bereft of Skills needed by employers these days.
Truth is, many Nigerian graduates are unemployable: largely due to the obsolete system of education though - Polytechnic or University alike.
But the discrimination is not in Knowledge - it’s in the ranks and remuneration structure. It’s a subtle way of influencing prospective students to apply to Polytechnics as well - which would at least reduce the huge population seeking a University degree.
If you ask me - it’s a good thing. But overhaul all the curriculums for courses in the UNI and Polys already- it’s not 21st century like! Some will applaud the bold. By this your price and the previous quoted of 5k, it means the mason/service man collects probably 6k/2k per room. That's about 2k per partition (mason/service man). So If you say 5k(mason/service man) as daily pay. It translates to just 2 partitions. Or is there something I'm not understanding? Also does this price include dressing of doors and windows internal?
