diordaves: @ megacontrol, I think the above suggestion is about the best preferred and may well be the solution.
With cracks it's all very simple to jump to conclusions and pin it on differential settlement, poor foundation construction or poor soil. But what is so often overlooked is poor lintel construction and this is not necessarily chain lintel.
I have had a good look at the photos of the cracks you posted and can hazard a guess that your lintel construction MAY have been poor. The cracks may be a failure of the lintel to distribute the load from the roof. The lintel may not be long enough.
So take the plaster back to bare bricks, take out the lintel and construct a proper long enough lintel. This will distribute the load better.
Whatever you do, don't paper over the cracks. Take the plaster back to the bricks, have a good look at the lintel. Chances are, the lintel is too short or no lintel at all !!!
Look at the crack close to where the lintel is supposed to be and you will understand. That crack is too close to the upper windowhood, evidence that the lintel stops there. Point of failure. Too short lintel length. An undersized lintel will not distribute load effectively. As regards the bold. How long enough should a lintel over a window of 1m be? |

More so, there's no notable name being mentioned that Atiku met on this visitation. Every thing seems to be vague and left open for speculation. |

mountmoriah: that is true but take note, though; if drywall cracking or surface distortion is severe or there are other indications of significant settling or potential structural problems due to fault foundation but not all wall cracks are cause by fault foundation.
Contraction and expansion: The materials (paint, plaster) that make up your wall contract and expand because of fluctuations in humidity levels and temperature changes. This is usually a problem if the wall is within a room that is periodically air-conditioned or it faces the afternoon sun quite a bit. The movement of contraction and expansion can cause hairline cracks to appear.
Low quality paint: Inferior quality paint results in poor paint adhesion on your wall, which leads to cracks over time. In addition, using different paints for each paint coat can also cause cracks on the wall.
No corner way around it, Keep your paint consistent and use a high-quality product. It might cost you a little but it pay off, it’s better than suffering for it in the future
Impatience during plasterwork: Sometimes, patience is the best way to go. Not letting cement plaster completely dry before applying paint is actually quite a common factor attributed to cracks. So put on some Netflix and chill out! It’ll be better than buying new paint to redo your walls.
Poor paint job: Painting an entire house can be a huge amount of work, and it can be tempting to rush through it. But mistakes like missing out layers, or not letting previous layers completely dry can hamper your overall efforts. A good paint job takes time, so plan around it! I'll have to disagree with some aspects in the bold statements. I don't see how a paint will cause cracks on a wall............... Apart from bad foundation, etc, etc, cracks of any nature on walls are mainly caused by anything that has cement added to it and the moisture content effect. |

Chekitaut: I do not think there is remedy to this, this would hv being avoided if a chain lintel is apply to the structure, crack mayb cause by soil settlement or weight of the roofing. We have said this numerous times, chain lintel or not, does not prevent walls from cracking. A good house is as good as its foundation, the nature of blocks used and mortar mixture. |

you will notice it is along the same path on both the internal and external sides of the wall

eyeview: Your post shows you don't even know about the case. Which assets all over which world. Son, this is why apc enjoy media trial. Because they know they can always get thousands of ignorant people like you to shout "crucify him crucify him" without knowledge of the case. For your info, they didn't find any properties abroad talkless of scattered all over the world. They didn't even find any foreign account on him. Rather he has one or two domicilary account here in our local banks here which wasn't included in his asset declaration form. Frankly, most of us would have made the same mistake. He had declared it some years ago and thought that was okay. Secondly, I even have some accounts I had since abandoned which I sincerely wouldn't have added if I were filling that form. Thirdly, there were no "millions and millions of dollars" found in them as you claim. A senior lawyer actually stated that most CJNs travel for international conferences and are paid travel allowances and estacodes in dollars and what is available in the account is actually a reflection of true entitlements of a CJN level.
Honestly, if you guys will stop jumping up to support whatever APC throws up without reasoning, APC would have stopped this nonsense by now. They feed on you people's ignorance and poverty mentality of seeing 'a big man suffer' How much is in the account you abandoned? How much is in the account the CJN forgot to list in the asset declaration form? So just because a senior lawyer said something it should be taken like that? What does the CJN need 40 SANs to prove his case? This issue about the CJN, is it an offence and a punishable one by the authorities going by the laws? |

When Jonathan was in power it was the north that stifled the development of the Niger Delta.
It was the north that got Ibori arrested in UK. I want to believe this is some form of humour........ I do not see where the North stiffled the development of the ND. The way and manner the amnesty programme and NDM was managed is just a clue to the ND lack of developmental sense. Ibori was sold out by the ND and the north has no tangible role to play in his arrest. |

I know a friend who got 8m for his technical workshop. He has about 5 staff and several apprentices including engineering students on IT & NYSC.
My wife's elder brother's friend at Ota got 5m for his fishery. He's the main supplier of catfish in that axis Iyana-Ipaja, Abulegba, Ijaiye, Kola, Agbado, Sango, Ifo, Ota, You are generalizing....... There are different empowerment programmes the GEJ administration carried out. Osibanjo was specifically referring to that aspect of the SURE-P where the individuals were paid #30,000 which is same as the N-power scheme being done by the current administration. The reason why Osibanjo was making that statement is because the SURE-P was contracted out and the contractors in each state had the leverage of fixing in names in their list as to the tune of the number of persons a contractor can handle. With that aspect of the SURE-P scheme each individual is paid by the contractor directly and not the FG. I have lots of friends who were beneficaries of the SURE-P but none was paid the complete amount neither were they paid for the duration of which the scheme ran. |

jelel6: Even though I know Prof Sagay would naturally support the government on this particular matter, it's clear for everyone to see that he made sound arguments. Arguments I would like to see fellow attorneys who are of different opinions counter while focusing on the issues at hand and not resort to under-arm tactics.
His points on whether if this was to be a case of murder would the police be expected to wait for the decision of the NJC before making arrest, And the fact the CJN, who appointed the overwhelming majority of the members of the NJC, of which he's the chairman Cannot be expected to judge his case fairly, those two arguments Particularly resonate with common sense.
However, even if the FG cannot get him before the CCT, I'd still like for them to submit their evidence and present the case in front of the NJC. The aim wouldn't be to get justice now, it will be to expose the alter rubbish that is the Criminal Justice System in Nigeria. The NJC is the CJN. So who will they present the evidence to? There's a loop hole in the law and it needs to be corrected by those whose responsibility it is. The evidence is clear given that the CJN has admitted. It's now left for they to inform us if its a punishable offence. |
