1. buy a 20ft shipping container, [cost btw 150k to 250k], and store your cement+other building accesories inside, this is in addition to the having a small batcher house where a few workers may sleep over.

2. construct the gate/security house first, and let it serve as your store room, while construction is going on

3rdly, am thinking of having separate water tanks for each of the 3 apartments, with a 4th one being for general purpose, washi g cars, security man use etc, and i intend to mount the tanks on top of the security house, what are the possible pros and cons of this plan?

Guess the structure is going to be a double storey.
1....You can build 2 separate batcher 12x12 for cement/material and the other for workers to sleep.
2....You can possibly put 2 tanks on the structure or build a separate tank stand and put 3 tanks on it to serve the apartments inclusive of the security house.

Hello NLs,
I'm too emotionally drained to make sound judgement so I need your contribution on this issue.

I found out recently that my gf has been living a secret life online. My findings suggest that she may be cheating on me... Why? She's been communicating with an ex that practically broke her heart in the past...

She's also frequently communicating with another guy on Facebook who has repeatedly called her my love, honey, sweetheart and other romantic pet names and she has reciprocated most times.... At a point, the guy said he was naked and waiting for her at home... And she said she's coming... I guess they took the conversation offline...

She's also been chatting with several other guys... the ones I saw on FB indicate they're either asking her out or she's outrightly flirting with them...

On WhatsApp, only God knows the content and direction of her chat with other guys...

The painful part is I found out she's been having this online/offline double life by accident... That's a story for another day...

When I confronted her with my findings, she's been claiming she has nothing with any of the guys and that I should forgive her for hiding her online life from me...

I feel betrayed... I doubt if she'll ever change... I just want to move on...

What should I do?

Very few guys get to date the real good gals.
Forget what every one here is saying because at one point in time or another every a guy have been a victim of such.

Just move on with your life and give her some breathing space.
If she wants to be with you, she'll come looking.

This post is directed to the matured minds in the house.

I've dated this lady for close to a year now and I have the intention of having her as my wife because of my love for her. She's got good qualities, cooks well, supportive in a little way but temperamental and easily provoked.

But there is this challenge I'm having with her, she puts up surly attitude and would always keep to herself whenever I correct her, and she won't talk to me for as long as we stay together, call or try to get in touch while away. This might last for as many days not until I come out to calm her down. Over times shes been doing this and the only way I've had to let things be normal is for me to talk to her again and beg her not to be angry. But I'm feeling I'm loosing my worth. This is someone that never admits she's at fault, talk less of apologizing. On several note I have had to take blame for her errors even when I'm not at fault just to make sure we're fine.

A recent development was that she came for holiday and was using the rest room within my apartment, I was passing by and asked her to close the door, she murmured, closed the door and she hasn't been talking to me since then and even when I do she'll answer reluctantly for like five days now. I am tired of living under same roof with someone that never feel anything keeping malice and I want her to realize her mistakes and apologize, but she won't, she'll rather stay back in the room, and whenever I go to the room, she be making avoiding moves.

I watched her closely to observe if she's into someone else but I haven't got any traces of that.

I have decided not to call her to terms again not minding if it costs a break up, but then am thinking I might be taking things way far.

Pls How best can I handle this? I really do love her tho and I am afraid of loosing her but I am loosing my worth and this has made her not have regards for me.

I thought d op was referring to suspended slab & not german floor....Going by the number of days stated for concrete to attain max. strength, i think it is wrong...

Moreover, building a storey building in 30 days can only be possible in Nigeria when precast concrete is used...& We know that isn't the case in this instance...

Probably u can give a rough breakdown on how u intend to achieve insitu concrete for a storey building within 30days...So we can learn sir.

Get the right number of workers on site you can handle.
Remember strict supervision is the key to a good outcome.

Good thoughts and images. I welcome the idea of tall windows and flow in the designs you posted.
However who will agree to build a house with an all glass wall in Nigeria or even Banana Island (privacy and security issues).
Also, an open floor plan with kitchen and living room may not work in Naija (our food can smell and oil smoke na die)
In some of the plans posted some rooms have only one window and bathrooms are a bit far off. Not good enuf for Naija
I personally think some of our architects here are good but they are limited in adopting intriguing or new house features and schemes esp from the external outlook and designs. That's why Skimanski rides high.

The question of "what makes this house unique yet practical must be answered".

My layman thoughts sha

My late uncle owns a 5 bedroom single storey building with 2 sides of the main lounge completely glass and one side dwarf wall and glass. The master bedroom is 2 sides full glass with an open balcony. He was buried in 1995 and that house is on rental. That structure is on a 3 plots of land in GRA.

It's not about naija, its about the individual/client , the architect and the will to spend the money.

Lots of persons have come up with foreign designs and they could not even effect 20% of such design flow pattern for their individual homes in naija.

With the exception of a simple 2 bedroom floor plan, most floor plans designed by architects are nothing to write about. The best that could happen is windows for cross ventilation and superb 3D.

Everyone designs according to what he/she knows and how it suits the client.
Architects don't design because they can handle the software, they design to be able to make money easily.

Are you trying to do a design by yourself?
There's really no standard to the sizes of all. It all depends on the size of your land and your taste.


Anything called room (min 3.6m×3.6m)
Kitchen (min.2m×2m)....I used this as minimum in the instance of self contain/one bedroom apartment

Clearly understood now. I think it would be better if you can attach a link that will show us the entire project for layman like us to really understand how you guys deal with waterlogged lands.

It's not rocket science dealing with waterlogged lands to be used for building construction purposes. Waterlogged lands varies and all have links to water sources.
For those who own such lands and would want put it to use over a short time will have to fill it with sharp sand also referred to as filling(filled) sand.

For those that will use it for future purposes will have to fill it with construction waste (road construction waste, mixture of building construction rubble and dirt sand).

Interesting, this last picture really shows us the water level. Sand filled over time, how long does it take to get rid of the water after sand filing. Was the last picture a gutter that you were building to get access to the land or is it part of the fence raft?

The pix is a natural canal. We had to do a box culvert/drainage rather than wait for the government since the client needs to access the land from that section. The raft fence I earlier uploaded is just to demarcate the land. The existing fence where you have those zinc is sitting on a 3 board panel raft and the land is about 4 plots.

Thanks, that picture don't really looks like the area is real waterlog. Its better to be safe than sorry later sha.

The land originally was waterlogged but sand filled over time.That fence was done around august and at 12" depth you'll experience water. The reason for that particular height is different though.

If you look at the far end where you see those zinc along the fence line, is this uploaded pix. Due to the purpose for which that part of the land will be put to use, its access is from the box culvert and all to be sand filled afterwards.

Bros when you say 4 board panel, those that means 4ft Hight in total from the ground water level, 2ft below ground level and 2ft from the ground level.

The 4 board panel starts from the base of the blinding of the foundation trench.
