At the end of the day, Parents are responsable for the well being of their kids. You can't blame the nanny or anybody else. It's a diffrent thing is the nanny/child minder hurt the child on purpose.

The OP is making some sense. The UK is a very tough place for foreign students. If you have to pay for your own accommodation, then its even tougher. Also sadly, a lot of the universities that Nigerians attend (Greenwich, Southbank, London Met....) are not among the top schools in the UK, so the students will find it difficult to get good jobs after graduation. To spend almost £20000 in total, and not even be certain of getting a good job, is a big risk. People need to make the decision with clear eyes.
My advice is only make the move if you are coming to study in a good school(,Top 20 University) and are studying a course that is in high demand.

Parents need to learn to downsize: There is no point living in a 5/6 bedroom duplex, when all the kids have left home. Most times the parents reach a point where they can't even use the stairs and are just using a downstairs bedroom. We need to become less sentimental about property.
