PoliticsRe: President Tinubu Signs Electricity Act 2023 Into Law by bjdon: 2:50pm On Jun 09, 2023
lexy2014:
When did signing a bill into law become a big deal? Is Tinubu the first head of executive in Nigeria to sign a bill into law?

Did the bill he signed originate from him?
He could have eassily vetoed the bill, if he wanted to continue the corruptio in the power generation sector at the centre. To be fair to him even as gov of Lagos he was advocating that states should have the right to generate power.
We need to stop being emotional about things. For now this is a good move and should be appluded as such, trust me when he goofs, I will be one of this loudest and sharpest critics on here.

Very good move.
I don't like or support Tinubu, but when he does the right thing, I will praise him. Signing this bill into law, is actually the start of Restructuring in Nigeria. Now everbody should face their STATES and demand their governors implment power genration projects. No more waiting for Abuja to solve all problems.

Damnnn niggar

Make Edo give this position to esan man abeg

But esan man need to still rule...
One thing about me is the fact that am a real niggar

Esan need to rule...
I disagree. We need to move away from all this 'turn by turn' approach and instead focus on electing the best person for the job. I don't care if the person is from Edo south, central or North, we need the best.
Our Sister state has Delta, has been doing turn by turn, what have got for it? Delta state is a mess, the major cities (Warry, Assaba..) are slums. We need to move forward in our thinking, for goodness sake its 2023. Let's put merit before tribe.
PoliticsRe: Muslim/muslim Ticket Will Be Sustained Beyond 20 Years In Kaduna, Says El-rufai by bjdon: 6:20pm On Jun 05, 2023
Every Yoruba Christian that voted APC in the presidental election should read this and note what they have done. For the same of tribalisim, they have voted to become slaves to Islam and that will be now be their fate and fate of their genrations to come, becasue I can promise you one thing, the Muslims will NEVER yield power again. President and VP will always be Muslim-Muslim going forward.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Has Solution For Impact Of Subsidy Removal, Says Oshiomhole (Video) by bjdon: 9:17am On Jun 05, 2023
meum:
But GEJ didn’t have Abi? GEJ put measures in place before the proposed subsidy removal yet those in power today convened at Ojota to fight the same thing they rushed to implement. The difference is clear!

I am not against subsidy removal. I feel it was rushed. All in an attempt to appear presidential on Inauguration Day & may be deliver on an election promise I guess.

I believe a good leader is proactive rather than reactive. Measures should have been put in place to cushion the effect(s) of the removal. Whatever solution he has should have been in place at least to a certain level(while Nigerians await full implementation) before the announcement of the removal by end of June as planned for by the outgone administration. I believe government is a continuum much more one that is of course he same party.
No this is not correct. The subsidy was actually removed by Buhari. In the current budget there is only subsidy allocation till June. Buhari and APC did not want to remove it earlier so it would not impact them at the election but the decesion had already been made. The only way Tinubu could have continued subsidy would be to announce a supplementry budget.
PoliticsRe: How Will Former President Obasanjo Feel Seeing This Picture? by bjdon: 10:35am On Jun 03, 2023
nairavsdollars:
He fought Tinubu to a Standstill during his tenure as president even denying him Lagos LG allocations.

He hounded Ibori to jail using his puppet, Goodluck Jonathan and the EFCC

He frustrated Osoba in Ogun State and ensure he didn't get second term in 2003.

How will former president Olusegun Obasanjo feel seeing these ones in charge ?
He never hounded Ibori, he blackmailed him. EFCC had a strong case against Ibori, Obasanjo made him bankroll Yar'dua's campaign to avoid arrest. Ibori then became very close to Yardua and it was rumoured he would be his VP in a Yardua second term. During the events of Yardua's sickness, Ibori was a main part of the kitchen cabinet that tried to block GEJ becoming acting president. GEJ never forgave him and hounded him once he became president.

Nigerians do you not be fooled. These strikes are being sponsored by the oil marketeers. They are the ones enjoying the subsidy. They get subsidy on imported fuel, and then smuggle the same fuel out to Benin and other West African nations to resell. This way they will be out of business.
The bottom line is there is no more money for subsidy. it's time we kill this thing finally. It will be tough intially but we will overcome as always.
PoliticsRe: Fuel Subsidy Protests Of 2014: David Hundeyin Reflections by bjdon: 8:59am On May 31, 2023
it is very easy to look back now, with the benefit of hindsight and say all who protested in 2011 were wrong and dishonest, but let's just take a moment and reflect on that event.
I still maintain that while removal of fuel subsidy was economically desirable, the way the GEJ administration tried to go about it, was very insensitive. To remove fuel subsidy in the middle of the Christmas celebrations was an immoral action. We all know the expenses people incur at the end of year, how could they think that was a morally right thing to do?
Of course the opposition seized on it and lead the protests, that's what oppositions do. The ultimate responsibility for that sad event lies with GEJ and his advisors.
Just to be clear, I am in no way shape or form an APC supporter, I think they are a cancer on the Nigerian state, but that does not mean we should not tell the truth at all times

This comment right here, is the reason the country can never move forward. If wrong doing and criminality is not challenged and punished what steps others from doing it?
PoliticsRe: Aminu Dantata Came Out For Asiwaju Tinubu (Pictures) by bjdon: 10:17am On May 30, 2023
Nigerians are indeed a funny people. Some are coming on here to praise the fact that Dantata came to Tinubu's gala as some kind of win. What has Dantata ever done for you and your family. You are all there, no job, no money, no power, no water, yet you cheer the very people who have contributed to your poverty. Na wa
Some of you really think this about Yoruba v Igbo, for goodness sake GROW UP. This is about YOUR future. Today are Yoruba Tinubu supporters buying fuel at a different price from Igbo Obi supporters? When will you people realize that poverty and suffering do not know any tribe or region.
I work with international economics and I can tell you all 100% most Nigerians will be POORER 12 months from now, due to the massive economic mistakes the last administration made. That poverty will not distinguish by tribe or religion. Shine your eyes people

According to almost all of them, the only reason they should be there is simply because they are from certain region. No manifesto, no vision, nothing nothing
Too right. They only play the regional card when it suits them. I don't care if all the principal officers are from one region, to hell with zoning, to hell with 'balance' All we want now is competence. Let the best emarge!
PoliticsRe: I Don’t Know About APC Zoning Formula, I Want To Be Senate President – Yari by bjdon: 10:52am On May 16, 2023
I beg carry go. If we can have Muslim-Muslim President and VP, then all is possible. What we are seeing is in effect the end of zoning in Nigeria, which can only be a good thing. As long as nobody complaiins when we have a Christian-Christian-Christian leadership. We should only go for the best candidates going forward.

PoliticsRe: Senate Presidency: Ex-Zamfara Gov, Yari Warns APC by bjdon: 9:59pm On May 11, 2023

Idiots like you are manipulated to pepetually keep the North in Power. You cannot comprehend that the North wants to frustrate Asiwaju's restructuring agenda with their senate presidency. They want to dish out to Tinubu what they could not do to Buhari. As a Niger Deltan, Tinubu would be better for us than a thousand Obi.
I will not stoop to your level with insults, you simply display online how your were raised. Maybe you can tell me, going down memory lande exactly how the SW have EVER helped the Niger Delta. I am from the same Niger Delta as you. Who supported calling a referendum in 1963 that saw the Midwest freed from SW? It was the NCNC/NPC Coalition over the objection of Awos' action group.

Who supported the increase in derivation for the Oil producing states ? It was a combination of SS and SE lawmakers.

Have you ever asked yourself why only Lagos Port works in Nigeria? Why were the ports in Warri, Sapple, Calabar allowed to go moribound?
who was behind it?

I could go on, but now its' your turn, please give me a single example of where the SW has done something in our interest?

If you want Japa, please Japa. I am not saying you shouldn't japa.

They can tax so much - eh you want to cry
And sleep. Your own money goes to tax and more tax.

You are not really the owner of your property because of tax. Property tax is something else.

Child support payment na another thing on its own- if you like woman, please be careful not to have many baby mama e get why.

Nigerians back home cannot understand until they come here and experience themselves.

I remember when my cousin was warning me about the Uk. I thought he was talking nonsense until I came and experienced reality. Experience is the best teacher
If you are doing well in Naija, please stay and visit. If you are struggling, then please Japa.
You have simply outlined the differences between a functioning society and a non-functioning one. In developed functioning societies the citizens pay tax. That establishes a contract between then and the govt. The govt HAVE to perform in terms of providing infrastuctue and security or the people will ask 'What are you doing with our taxes?'
In a non functioning underdeveloped socieity like Nigeria, there is minimal tax. Ony those employed in large private firms or govt really pay tax, in addition to VAT. However the downside is there is no contract with the govt. Govt does not have to provde water, good roads or good hospitlas. Yes you keep more of your money, but you actually end up poorer becasue you have to provide everthing for yourself(Bore Hole, Generator, Private School, Private Hospital...)

Anything that prevents the likes of Orji Uzo Kalu and Dave Umahi from taking the Senate president position.
Please note I'm Igbo but I hate it when this selfish politicians play the tribal card for their own selfish desires.
Orji Uzo Kalu once said that Muslim Muslim ticket is good for Presidency but for his own selfish desires he'd faulting a Muslim senate president.
Same as Dave Umahi who was calling for competency and not zoning for Presidency only to start playing tribal card to achieve his selfish desire if being Senate president.

I'm Obedient and I await fervently on the recovery of our mandate, however, I refuse to allow myself to be clouded by the petty sentiments sold by these old men. I don't care if the president, vice and senate president are all Muslims, Christians or traditional believers. I don't care if all of them comes from the same state, geopolitical zone or tribe.
All I want is a working nation where there's social justice, equity and ample opportunities for all.

Had APC choose Osibanjo as their candidate, I'd have voted for him.
Had even Tinubu contested maybe 10 years ago, maybe I'll vote for him...

That being said, God bless Nigeria as we hope to elope one day
A thoughtful and intelligent write up. Well done!

Well done Sir Dangote. it's a shame late Yardua reversed OBJ's sale of Kaduna and PH refineries to Dangote, those 2 would have long since been operational at full capacity.
I hope Tinubu will address the power sector and implement reforms that will allow private sector players like Dangote, build and manage power plants as well.
