Wiseandtrue:My friend, longest time. I hope you are fine? And yes, happy Sunday. |
Majesticniyi:That is not even as bad as them recording it. Committing a crime and then recording the crime gives the impression that we live in a lawless society. No fear of the law or of even committing the worst crime in the world -- murder Robbers often wear masks to commit a crime because they know that what they are doing is against societal norms and the law. But these misguided students had the audacity to record their own crime. |
Monday60655:How do you know it does more harm to me than you? You don't even know me, and you are jumping into conclusion. The fact remains that there was never democracy before APC, so you people should stop this nonsense about APC destroying democracy. Was it under APC that African China sang about "Demo dey craze" or that Eedris Abdulkareem sang "Nigeria Jaga Jaga" ![]() |
Monday60655:What happened that has never happened before? Right from the days of chief riggers, Obasanjo and Atiku, the acts of snatching ballot boxes and the use of political thugs have always been. Democracy indeed. Nigerians and their short memory. |
Dino won the senatorial election in Kogi. Smart Adeyemi is so weak that the court jester cum musician Dino trounced him again. Big shame!!! |
solmusdesigns:Which Sowore paid millions to Saraki? Is it the same Sowore that we know or another Sowore? |
ctleurocollege:Which wicked laws? If you want to know how men became so powerful and how patriarchy came about, then you may want to look at nature. Nature made the average man larger than the average woman due to the level of testosterone. So, women had to seek protection and superior stock (children) from these men. The children ordinarily bore their fathers' names. And the women were proud to have their kids bear the name of the man. Then, agriculture was discovered, and it further worsens the case for women as men (due to their physical strength) also dominated during that period. Men became wealthier than women and they had so much money that they could even buy women if they wanted, and they married as many women as possible. How is this man's fault ![]() |

tiwiex:If she were on a receiving line, she might want to shake hands with both hands and genuflect like a respectful Yoruba woman, this might cause her to impale whomever she is receiving with her umbrella. However, the problem with her defense is that she was not even on the receiving line when the picture was taken. Which means they actually followed her to the receiving line holding the umbrella over her head. It would have been better if she held the umbrella by herself until she got to the receiving line where she might need both of her hands for a handshake. In summary, she has no point. |
They are getting out of hand. But I like how men don't talk much, but yet control the world. But it would get to a stage when we would have to put these disrespectful women in their place. Many of them need some TLC, and they would forget what feminism is. |
BUSHHUNTER:A few upsets here and there does not mean Rohr should shut up about his goal of winning the AFCON. Upsets happen in football every now and then. Even France struggled to beat Moldova which is about 170 on the FIFA ranking. Benin and Kenya are even higher on the ranking. Yet, France with all their Griezmann, Mbappe, and all, had to come from behind to beat Moldova 2-1 in France. The same Moldova that they trashed in Moldova. |
tot:Unfortunately, we will lose. Aside being a mathematician, I am also a soothsayer. |
tot:OK, ma'am. Your wish is my command. |
Gambling addiction is a serious malaise. Kudos to the mama. Hopefully, the boy is not addicted already. |
tot:Imagine a life where you can go back in time to correct a mistake that is presently affecting you? For instance, imagine going back in time to avoid me so that I am not such a pain in your neck right now. |
tot:No, I didn't actually reply specifically for no reason. I replied to your immediate previous post, and had to put in a word or two in favor of my study. Perhaps, you are a hater of progress, but it doesn't mean I can't try to advertise my project, does it? |
tot:Mrs mathematician, I had made up my mind that I wouldn't reply you anymore. I am working on something that would revolutionize the field of mathematics forever, and make time travel a reality. Your donations are highly welcome. You can PM me if you have donations to make to my study. It is absolutely voluntary, and the project outlines are open to your scrutiny. The steps I have taken to earn patents on my study so far have met rejections, but my rejection letters are also available to be accessed by you. |
tot:Was it the researcher that shared it on Nairaland? If you want the original study compete with the abstract and methodology, including number of participants, you should look elsewhere other than Nairaland. Haba, is Nairaland a resource centre? It is a forum, not an archive. I introduced myself to let you know that this is my field. Moreover, I have many of these studies under my belt. You are ignorant. Rather than push blindly, you should have just held your peace. You ought to get tired going on about something you have absolutely no understanding about. But no, you people are too arrogant, and are thus unteachable ![]() It is not your field, ma'am. Everyone is ignorant about one discipline or the other. No one knows it all. I am no technology expert so I know better than to argue with someone versed in that field. Ma'am, you know absolutely nothing about statistics. That is the truth. |
tot:Many of you don't like to be corrected. ![]() There is only one way to calculate prevalence rate. If you know it, you won't be asking questions about percentages. Your ignorance was evident from the moment you began to wonder about percentages and variations in population size. This study is not about number of HIV patients but prevalence rate of HIV. They are calculated differently. Only the result of this particular study was shared on Nairaland. If you want to see the methodology section of the study, then you are better off searching for the original study rather than arguing about stuffs that you don't know anything about. But just know that there is only one formula (way) for calculating prevalence rate but you need to get off your high horse if you ever want to learn. Gosh!!! |
tot:Haba, they don't need to mention it Does one need to mention how 2 and 2 make 4? We already know that is either by multiplication or addition. It is the same with prevalence rate. Whenever you mention prevalence rate, any statistician, mathematician or economist already knows how it is estimated. Obviously, you have never done applied statistics before, if not, you won't even make this post. But it is understandable. I am a mathematician, and I have just told you how it works. It is the same thing an economist, statistician and epidemiologist would tell you. |
tot:This is where many of you get it wrong. You people think researches cover everyone in a population, but statistics has made up techniques to address differences in population by creating a sample size to represent the population of interest. If sample size is 100 for Akwa Ibom, it would be 100 for Lagos as well. So, the percentages tell the whole story as far as the number of people sampled is concerned. The prevalence rate of HIV in a sample size of a 100 people in Akwa Ibom is higher than in Lagos with the same sample size. So, there is a higher prevalence rate of HIV in Akwa Ibom than in Lagos. |
priceaction:It is very obvious that you don't know anything about statistics ![]() First thing, let me correct the impression you have about research generally. A research does not have to cover everyone for the result to be statistically significant. All a research needs is a sample that properly represents the population of interest as much as possible with a very low margin of error. For instance, you want to estimate prevalence rate of HIV in Lagos. You can randomly select 60 people using whatever sample selection tool you can lay your hands upon. Carry out your study on this 60 people who are representing Lagos, and identify those with your disease of interest. Then you divide this figure with the total number of people that you sampled, and then multiply by 100. Sample size = 60 (number of people measured) Number of people with HIV = 40 40÷60×100 = prevalence rate (as %) |
This happens everywhere in the world, even on CNN. It is not a big deal. Some newscasters even fart on live TV. But you will never see the citizens make a big deal out of it. They will even laugh and joke about it and everyone would have fun. |
Devops:Your lack of education is very obvious. But, I will let it pass. Now, tell me, what message was he trying to pass by saying Clarence would do a better job judging by the sort of videos he makes? |
zomoears:Who were the mediocre thinkers that thought he was going too fast. Ben Bruce was there for 4 years. No one thought he was going too fast. As a matter of fact, the man that succeeded him, Iredia, did very well as well and is even adjudged the best DG NTA ever had. |
Freehuman:You shouldn't bet your life on it that Clarence would do a better job. Live coverage is a totally different ball game from what Clarence does. Clarence studied cinematography, and does film making, cinematography, and music video directing. None of these skills totally prepares you for live coverage aside camera handling. If you doubt me, check for Clarence raw works before all the editing has gone into it. Film making also allows you retake shots, remove unwanted shots, and do video editing to clean out mistakes. It is like an actor who acts on stage and the one that acts in movies. The one that acts on stage does more because once he is in front of the audience, he can't afford to make mistakes or forget his lines while the one who does movies can make mistakes and retake his lines. This is not to make an excuse for NTA, just to let you know that there is a difference between film making and live coverage. |
digitaltrades:Bro, watch NTA News 24 and NTA Parliament (supervised by the Directory of Special Duties) and compare the picture quality with what you saw today. They have better equipment than the one they used today. Or better still, check out their bureaus in Washington or Ottawa and see the sort of reporters they have on the staff, as well as the picture quality. |
digitaltrades:If you think what you saw today is all they have, then you are clearly mistaken. This issue is evidently that of a lack of professionalism. The DG should be held responsible. Maybe we should also blame Buhari for the abysmal performance of the commentator. |
digitaltrades:What has this got to do with Buhari? This is purely a matter of a lack of professionalism. |
For heaven's sake, NTA cannot tell me that they are poorly funded. Even if we had Supersport, it still doesn't stop them from broadcasting matches or preparing for emergencies such as the sort that arose from the issue between CAF and SuperSport. They are making it seem like they were just told today that they would broadcast a match. EFCC and ICPC need to pounce on the DG of NTA and his assistants. They must be made to account for all the monies allocated to them. As for the commentator, technology has made learning very easy. You can't run commentaries without up-to-date information. Know the players, at least basic info about them, so that you are not constantly referring to them by their shirt numbers. It is not so hard to do your own bit of findings. And learn from the masters. You don't have to learn their accents or all that, but just learn how they run commentaries. Go read about them, especially about how they prepare for a match. It is not so hard to aid one's personal development. |
niaralandtopuser: ![]() Mehn, you people always make following football match on Nairaland very interesting. |
CAF and SuperSport should reach an agreement so that we can watch these games. |
