Senator is not just about voting. Do something about it. Preach against it, draw support from other senators. |
menxer:Fair points. I do not support firing squad, but complete confistication of assets, delisting of companies from stock exchange if it is a public company, blacklisting these public officers from becoming a director in any company in the country, some serious jail time without pardon. I also want the CBN to live up to its responsibilities. Financial institutions that supports money laundering should be made to pay heavy fines, continuous support of money laundering should warrant instant termination of the board's appointment, including the CEO. The NFIU must continue to review the transaction activities of public officers on regular basis. These transactions can be tracked. The Central Bank must be truly autonomous and independent. Government must learn how to fund its activities and political office holders should be instantly expelled once it is observed that state funds are used for election activities. Let the cost and repercussions of perpetrating corruption be so high that it discourages the perpetrators. |
saintkel:Comments like this are reasons - - why governance don't work in this country - why politicians continue to loot our treasury dry - why business men continue to cut corners to make profits - why fake drugs and products are being imported into this country at the detriment the lives of Nigerians - why the healthcare sector is left to rot - why education is not accessible to everyone - why politicians fix roads and think they do the public a favour - why people kill others to enter into public offices - why judges take bribes instead of upholding justice - why the police will never take their work seriously and allow crime to be pervasive in the country - why there have been no steady power supply for over 40 years - why the fight against corruption is only a lip service to deceive the public Let's learn how to hold public officers accountable for their actions |
I am ashamed to say that a political party that claims to be interested in carrying out electoral reforms is engaging in rigging elections. Is this the change we voted for? |
Why is Nigeria not solving its problems? |
proudlyhandsome:Please don't misinform the public. Obiano was an executive director in Fidelity Bank and not MD/CEO Diamond Bank. |
EasternLeopard:Gawd, I laughed so hard reading it. |
I think objectively, this appears to be a fair bill. However, I am confused with why the proposed NOC will be partially privatized rather than fully privatized. |
A criminal still have aides and media publicist. Nigeria, I hail thee. I won't be surprised or shocked if Ibori gets a welcome home party sponsored by state treasury and he automatically becomes a senator. |
mbhs139:You do not trouble yourself for such kind of people. You cannot see a mad man dancing in the market square, only for you to confront him - I guess there will be little differentiation from the eyes of the public. For such people, you ignore them. He may have his reasons for being biased. Do you know that some people who comment here do not actually read the topics? They see the headline and off they go with their biased opinions. |
mbhs139:I think he is entitled to his opinion. However, his opinion shows why politicians continue to steal our resources. They steal these funds and oppress the public by displaying it to our faces. We even sing and clap for them to continue. We, Nigerians, pride ourselves to be smart and intelligent. We travel abroad to rub it on the faces of our host countries, but what an Irony. I see no smartness nor intelligence if our political leaders continue to steal from us and we sit down to observe. Politicians in Kenya cannot steal and rub it off the faces their citizens, they will be stoned to death. In the fight against corruption, we have a role to play too. Apart from whistle blowing against corrupt officials, there is the need to leave this stupid passive observation and e-fighting to an active support against corrupt public officers. |
He should be prosecuted. That is what the CCB was set up to do and not being selective with its cases or a stooge for political fights |
This is an unbiased publication. Jonathan cannot keep quiet to all these allegations. He must speak specifically to each and every claim. One annoying fact is the exploitation of our Banking system in laundering funds. This has been going on for decades. Where is the Banking confidence promised by the CBN, when the CBN literally supports money laundering. How can billions of transactions pass through our financial institutions without being detected. What is the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) doing? Where is the Financial Reporting Council in identifying bad directors who set up companies to launder funds? When a President can actually dip his hands into national treasury or verbally inform the CBN to transfer funds without any unlying economic transaction to show, it shows you how useless we are as a country. What we have is a banana republic and not a country. It sets a bad precedence and what will stop the current President or his aides from not doing same. It appears the rule in Nigeria is act but don't get caught and when you are eventually caught, exploit the weak justice system to your advantage. |
As an Ibo man, this struggle creates mixed feelings for me. Should I be excited that the Ibo political consciousness is increasing or that pretentious criminals have hijacked the struggle for their selfish gain? It is good that the Ibo youths are clearly unhappy with their present situation. Whilst other ethnic group continue to increase their political relevance, the Ibos, my brothers, continue to disintegrate and argue over the next piece of porridge yam. They align with whoever can quench their thirst and hunger. Ohaneze is quick to castigate administrations based on the consideration of its economic benefits. MASSOB, Uwazuruike's militant group continue to oppress the Ibo people in various form, they have metamorphosized into different groups - Bakassi boys, various vigilante groups etc and Kanu's IPOB continue to spread hate via electronic media. My brothers have lost their memory of the war, maybe they remember, but they have been hypnotised by selfish warmongers and conflict instigators. Do I blame them for this? - No. Should I blame the Ibo Leaders? - Yes, and even the entire country. Lessons from the civil war have been repressed, silenced and never taught. Younger generations only get to learn based on folklores and half-baked truth. Wars or conflicts only benefit those who sell the weapons and they are watching keenly and hoping to boost their revenue. On a final note, the Ibos are not wrong to seek for more relevance. They are not wrong to express themselves if they feel marginalised, but this must be done peacefully to avoid the recent deaths reported. On a second thought, have we not all been marginalised by the political ruling class? |
No wonder the crime rate in Lagos is yet to decline. The helicopters have been used for entourage |
I like this your source |
EFCC should build more cells, because we have many criminals on the lose. I also understand that the EFCC is very good in distorting evidences from suspects who they have obtained bribes from. These is the particular reason why judges throw cases away, apart from the suspect bribing the judges too. This country may never redeem itself from corruption, the circle is just too infectious |
Ecoplexus:You are a sick person. |
As usual the Ibos will always be divided. Nothing new about this. This division is brought about personal greed and selfishness - a trait very common with my brothers |
Shut up fake pastor. |
What a greedy man he is. He doesn't pay salaries always owing his workers. Yet he frolicks with politicians and take their money. |
coolzeal:The south east cheated themselves. Everybody in the south east wants to be king - Anambra comes to mind here. Brothers fighting brothers. Others regions rallying around themselves, but the Ibos always want to be identified individually. A northern is in power and they scream marginalization. Have they organized themselves properly? Do they have a common ideology? Even amongst the Ibos there is still internal conflict, another reason I laugh at the actualisation of Biafra movement. The Ibos should stop playing the victim card and wake up from their slumber. The investment outside Ibo land if cited in the South-East would have drawn the interest of Foreign investment. Aba still remains in the dark age. |
David you cannot win except you rig the election and I don't think the APC will watch you do that |
Melaye this guys will mess you up. Let sleeping dog lie. They will influence your members of your constituency and you will not be reelected again. Moreover, their hawk eyes will be on you and the moment you try a shady deal, it's out in the open for EFCC to utilize. Please also recall that you are not in good terms with your party chieftains. Hence, an opportunity to ouster you will be welcomed. |
Reading this at first just made my eyes popped, but on a second thought I think there is some sense to it. Climate change can result to drought and likewise hunger. However, at the moment we all know climate change has nothing to do with the terrorist attack we are facing in this country. |
Sahara reporters are really exploiting their powers. However, in Nigeria there is little to do after the investigation. People just get excited over the news and move on |
This guy is going to run for governor and then president. |
jauntty:You dey mind Nigerians. As you type this comment so, church houses full with many of them. Churches are designed to make pastors rich |
samsard:Another stupid fool yet to understand. What is domestic violence? verbal assault is domestic violence. Physical attack is domestic violence. Should a woman insult the husband? Do women now consider it a good habit to curse out on men? How long should a man continue to tolerate an abusive wife? I do not support any form of beating even kids, but women must stop acting the victim here. Why are women very wicked? I read that stupid woman chat and I only read he hit her once and pushed her once. Only God known what form of emasculation she has given to 2shots because she was scheming to leave the marriage since no income is coming from his side. Let's us be honest. If 2shots was still making money are we going to hear this story? I doubt it. Kids who know nothing about marriage coming here to offer advice. Please if your husband beats you, call the police and call the judge to dissolve your marriage. Couples fight and sometimes these fight may be physical or emotional. When the marriage was sweet, she bothered nobody. Now it is rocky, she wants the whole world to pity her - typical wicked women for you. |
Wordsweaver:You must be a stupid teenager and know nothing about marriage. Marriage is not what you see in Hollywood or fantasies about. You can start by hanging out your pastor whilst he conduct marriage counseling. Also in a conflict there is an instigator. Whoever instigated is not my business. Families don't spill their issues. I recall reading one of her chat message where she said he is nice but because he is not making enough, he is angry. I will never be on anybody's side. I insulted the woman because she is not matured in handling marital affairs and her business is all over the Internet. I insulted her and I will continue because she claims to be the victim and I don't believe her. How about the verbal assault? Finally, if you are a woman, I pity you. Marriage is a tough journey and about the stupid fantasies you make in your head. If you are a man, I pray you have a good tolerance level because women are specialists in driving a man nuts and don't rest on your oars or responsibilities because your wife, who should be your pillar of support, will be the one to remind you how a loser you have become. I wonder if you would come on nairaland to share your stories. There is a real world out there, don't form your opinion based on nairaland |
Akposkool:She is the problem. Yes the man income is dwindling, but not a reason to knock him to his grave and insult his ego. I am surprise that I am reading her chat message to her friend. Now she can see what a friend she has. Families don't discuss issues. Such a stupid woman. I am not supporting 2shots, but he married a bad woman. A good wife never and I repeat never run the husband down in public |
The couples involved here are fools and immatured. They treated their marriage like a relationship. What I see here is nothing but marital issues which many couples go through and still survive. I am shocked at what I'm reading. She made a terrible mistake discussing her marital problems with her friend. Now the public is aware of their issue. I'm also surprised at how the supposed wife continue to attack the husband and playing out to be the victim - typical women for you. She never mentioned how she probably instigate the anger. This is a marriage and a family we are talking about. Families fight and curse themselves out, but they remember one thing - a family must stay united. On the other hand, 2shot should not have taken out his anger on her. I am certainly sure the main problem is money issue, others are secondary. The wife is just explaining why she wants to leave rather than stay hungry. She got tired of paying the bills and she has had enough. They are both shameless people |
