This is one of the dumbest post I have ever read. Prosecuting corrupt persons is the last stage of fighting corruption. Where they are weak controls or the ineptitude of leaders to curb corruption, corruption will grow. You first start fighting corruption through an anti-corruption bill. This sets the tone on how corruption will be tackled. The UK has about 4 Acts on Bribery and Corruption, including Acts of Terrorism and this is reviewed regularly. Next, you check the controls in place to curb corruption, waste and theft. Now this is where Jonathan and his dumb aides are screaming (laughs). These controls (Physical or IT related) will ensure that it is difficult to engage in corrupt practices. Examples includes centralisation of payments (like the IIPS put in place by NOI), Proper authorisation of payments, good audit trails of transactions etc. These controls must be reviewed for weaknesses and strengthened at all times. Now, because we have hardened criminals in this country, controls might not curb corruption. This is where prosecuting agencies like the EFCC and ICPC comes into play. However, these prosecuting agencies cannot prosecute or arrest persons who have engaged in corruption if they are not reported. Hence, there is the need for whistle blowing agency on corruption, where anonymous persons can whistle blow of suspected corrupt practices or alleged corrupt practices. Likewise, the office of auditor general of the federation, if they are very efficient should be able to spot corrupt transactions and report to the prosecuting offices. Also, corruption does not end with Public offices alone. It is even more perpetrated in private organisations. Now, it should be mandatory that every organisation train their employee on anti-corruption practices and send training reports and attendance on an annual basis. Whistle blowing can also work for private organisations too. Directors or CEOs would gets involved with corruption should be blacklisted amid prison time and should never hold such position nor get involved with corporate governance. The same should be application to public officer holders too. That is free consultancy and that is how you fight corruption. |
barcanista:Only through rigging. You think people want this mess and sham called PDP? I don't - they stink |
Henry120:I have no problems with contracting mercenaries but the denial from the military and the government. Our government has never been sincere and bold enough to tell the truth. It is a shame. If the issue is - we contracted mercenaries because we require their skill sets. Fine and good. Everything must be placed on the table to curb and eradicate the insurgents. In the past, People have boldly said in public that at night military helicopters drop food items amid other resources to Boko Haram. The government and the military both denied. Yes government must lie at some point to avoid chaos but not lie all the time. President Jonathan's government is a perpetual lying government. |
This is not IBB please. |
I thought they denied initially. Well we are an import driven economy. We import almost everything even women and drinking water, so it is not strange to import armies from other nations. grin I just hope we would be allowed to import a President from the US or China. The one we presently have has expired. To the dead. It is a pity. |
Henry120:http://dailytimes.com.ng/boko-haram-mercenaries-killed-in-error/ You happy now? |
I was wondering the sudden wealth of Ayiri and how come he remained unknown for a long while. I guess he benefits from the illegal contract Jonathan awards ex-militants. |
Nigerdeltaboi:On the premise of not making and taking the right decision. On the basis/premise of not confronting the insurgents when they were merely nuisance and lacked technical fire-power and war strategies |

I think the governor has a point. If you have ever witness any of the president's visit, you will understand. Almost all police officers are detailed to provide security services, right from the airport to his point of destination. Even some roads are cut off, thus resulting to traffic gridlock. There is the possibility that adequate security measures were not provided or the number of police officers patrolling the streets were not enough since they are providing presidential security services. On the other hand, the robbery seems to be a well planned robbery attack. Robbing a bank in Lagos is not for the chicken hearted. I won't say otherwise, if I am being informed that the robbers were either ex-service men or current military personnel. |
poseidon12:I do not support this. We score low in compliance with laws, rules and regulations. Pictures of jungle justice comes to mind here. I envision frequent shoot-outs as a result of quarrels between neighbours. I also picture people shooting down police officers for stopping them and likewise, an increase in crime. Legalizing arms will do more harm to us than good. |
God and I wanted to go home early. What do they robbers want? Phones |
pendy79:Laughs. I guess the judge stood up to the pressure. |
Thank you for your response. How much does a Mercedes Benz C300 (2008 - 2012 model) cost to Nigeria? |
Max siollum continues to amaze me with his deep inner knowledge on security matters and the nigerian army. His books are wonderful reads |
Jonathan a bad and contaminated product. |
I consider this statement an audacious statement. It is not about talking but by doing. Fashola can go to Eko Disco and have the concessionary discussion with them. Eko Disco is now a private power company and their aim is to make money, any idea that will enable them make more money will be welcome. Fashola take the bold step by approaching them. |
fresh15:I weep for you. You sound just like the President. |
I just love this newspaper they break the news real hard. Though Akau has the right to associate with whoever he want, I will do the same if I were Jonathan (no hard feelings). The president needs to know who his true supporters are even though I don't want him to win the election. |
queensmith:What is with this certificate again? I can't believe people are still stup$d and hoodwinked with this irrelevant issue. It is either you vote for Buhari and you vote for Jonathan and even more better you vote for me |
They cannot sell Jonathan. He is bad product |
Mogidi:You are a poorly trained human. Your parents did bad with you. |
BodyKiss:You cannot sell a bad product. The only way to sell a bad product is to criticise the good ones that compete against it. You can ask successful sales representatives. That is exactly what supporters of Jonathan are doing, they cannot sell him - he is bad product. |
I like the intent but I don't believe the story. Nice try APC better than a presidential warm up in Eagle square |
niggi4life:What is sophisticated about her? Girls like that are hungry and looking for bigger purse to satisfy their hunger. You don't need women like that. Once you have financial issues, they are the first to sleep with your friends. |
What is the nonsense with this woman. Has she hired a publicist. I noticed there is so much news about her. Is she now promoting a new age madness or the latest naija Kim Kardarshian. |
ElFenomeno1:Exactly. Some Nigerian airlines have no business operating. It is better to have no airlines than to have airlines putting people through pains. I have no pity for the minister because this mess occurs everyday with Arik. Arik is notorious with delays and cancellation of flight. If the minister is just noticing this, then it is a shock. |
coldsummer:Now that is the painful aspect - they delay the flight and no compensation. I just think Nigerians are just too polite and quiet. Yet we travel out and begin to embarrass ourself outside the country when we can actually do nothing at home. |
solarmanng:Laughs with Arik anything is possible. I have been delayed by Arik for over 12 hours. Got to abuja 1am for a 12noon flight. No announcement, no communication, no apologises, no refreshment, no nothing. We only heard rumours that they lack aviation fuel. What a useless airline. |
Volksfuhrer:He has been travelling with private jets. Now no money due to austerity measures. I agree with the poster who wants all public officers to utilise public services and public education. It should be as a matter of law. That is one way to improve public service. Just like everybody is screaming constant power supply, trust me if these public office holders, who should be responsible in solving problems have access to constant power supply without wasting money for fuel, we are on our own. |
EdCure:It is a no brainer. PDP supporters are all screaming for a debate and they have forgotten that our president makes incoherent statement and he is timid. I have heard Buhari speak and answer questions, reference to Chatham speech and I don't think Jonathan would ever floor Buhari if the debate is unbiased and the president has not received the questions before hand. I also wish to advise the president, because he is a bad product, he should continue to hide under the guise of Buhari refusing to debate with him. |
This post continues to remind me of Ayedee on rubbing minds debate. When you spend 90 percent of your time insulting and searching for more insult for the APC presidential candidate, you only fall short of clues, facts and statistics to convince nigerians why they should reelect jonathan, just like Ayedee did and you continue with the insults again. Politics is not insults, it is about convincing the public by laying down your plans and how they would be executed. Well how do you convince people when your product is bad and it has failed. |
