Car Talk › Re: Toyota, Kia Okay Nigeria’s Assembly Plants by Boss13: 1:12pm On Jul 21, 2014
SLIDEwaxie: I am a hater, but not part of mynd's gang...

If these cars won't go for N1,000,000 per new one, then its useless setting up plants here.
You are being unrealistic oga. A car for N1,000,000 is on average $6,257.43. An average toyota car cost $20,000 - $40,000. Now, with good cost accounting system, I would say that the cars will cost roughly N3,000,000 - N5,000,000. I am currently hearing that credit facilities at 10% will be offered to consumers of these vehicles. This will stimulate demand.

For someone who has tried all networks I can confidently say Smile is the best of them all. I currently have spectranet and smile. Smile on Mifi and spectranet on modern at home. Spectranet is cheap, 30g for N8,000. However, their speed is up to 2mbps. Smile is expensive, 10g for N9,000 but the average speed is 11mbps. I am currently in Abuja, but reside permanently in Lagos, else I would have shown both speed test. Swift is a noise maker and I stopped patronizing them.
Properties › Re: Lagos Proposes ‘rent To Own’ Home Policy by Boss13: 8:47am On Jul 09, 2014
Reference: Government is supposed to be a continum. All the problems of Lagos or Nigeria cannot be solved in one administration of 8 years. The problems did not take 8 years to crystallise. Rome or London or indeed the States was not built in a day. A policy is like a seed of an idea. It is expected to grow to feed generations after. That's what makes governance much easier than we struggle with in Nigeria. You benefit from your predecessor and those coming after you benefit from you. That's what makes Lagos state the success it is today. Tinubu sowed a good seed and much of Fashola's achievements were sourced there. Fashola too needs to sow one for the future. We africans should grow beyond the 'chop and quench' attitude. Everyone knows the LASG doesn't have the funds to effectively implement it today but do you wait till you can afford it before you start.
Point of correction, Lagos state is not a success story as portrayed by you. If your yardstick for measuring success is faulty, I will suggest you go buy another. Also, before you go on the normal rampage on comparing Lagos with other states, I will first love to clarify that Lagos state was once a capital of Nigeria, it enjoy the development of the nation's wealth, just like Abuja is enjoying. Lagos is deteriorating and not improving.

Fashola's runs the most secretive government in the entire Nigeria. The public is unaware of how much is generated in the state, what percentage of income is using for capital infrastructure and what is paid to tinubu. Be honest for once and answer if Fashola's is building new roads or repairing already existing roads. Be honest and ask if Fashola's administration is responsible for the water you used to have your bath this morning. Likewise, be honest and compare Lagos with the 70's & 80's where we had less social miscreants and not now where social miscreants is now legalized in Lagos. In my estate in Lekki, security services is being offered by OPC members (an association banned by the government). Personal income tax, Fashola's and his godfather's mercenaries are chasing is not implemented fairly. The stalwarts and big goons in the state do not pay personal income tax.

In education, WAEC & NECO result is an independent performance measurement tool. We have seen south-east states emerging with top results. Likewise, the recent strike/protest action by LASU students is also a yardstick to measure the governor. Why was the fees increased - nobody is yet to ask the governor.

Health, you can go and ask the state doctors who are queuing and finalizing preparations to go on their annual strike holidays as usually observed annually.

I commend the governor for running an effective public relations office that has been able to manage the press and also for threatening civil service officers not to speak with pressmen. Also, I express my disgust to the Nigerian media for being lazy and not doing enough investigations to uncover the secrecy that hovers around the Fashola's administration.

I will not want talk much about housing, the governor has said he cannot find cheap cement to build cheap houses. Hence, the houses the state is building are meant for the rich. Then ask yourselves, why the rich goons in Lagos state? The ones that don't even pay taxes, the ones Fashola has given lands in choice places, the ones still roaming the streets with Amber light and sirens when it has been banned.

The results of Fashola's administration are out there for all to see. Yet, we live in denial probably due to tribalism, sycophancy and nepotism.

Why ask the army spokesman further questions. He has said it. The damage was carried out by hoodlums. Hoodlums on uniforms that is what the Nigerian army is.

Assessment of Fashola's Administration

Promises with no implementation. Talk, talk and more talk. Finally, blame state government ineffectiveness on the federal government.

Since 2pm I have been here oh. They have cancelled 3 flights today (Benin, Calabar and warri) after keeping them waiting for 4 hours. We hear they have no fuel. I wonder if there is fuel scarcity. The bad thing is they are not talking to anybody.

Please, I want the whole world to know. This is nonsense and sickening.

Please I don't know if this is the right section to post this but I need the assistance of the moderator to take this to front page.

I have been at the airport since 2pm and I am currently at the airport while typing this. I am suppose to travel to Abuja from Lagos. Since afternoon, we have not heard from Arik air. No news, nothing. I have wasted valuable time. My appointments and meetings in Abuja cancelled. We are hearing rumours that they don't have fuel.

I have spent over N10k for lunch and dinner and I don't know if I will be eating breakfast in this lagos airport. I am tired, stressed out and cannot imagine going through Lagos traffic to go back home.

Please note that this is not the first time Arik is delaying flights without even apologizing. Sometimes I even waste some time because I know they delay their flights regularly. However, this is the height of it all. Come and see how we look like refugees at the airport.

I will advise everyone not to fly Arik again oh. I will never try it at all. Now I am even hungry again and I don't know if this airport restaurant will charge me another 6K per plate of rubbish.

Moderator please abeg front page. I am almost losing my mind.

All these news seem strange to me. Everyday, the army claims to kill one of the sect's leaders yet the group is not weakened. I don't know who to believe anymore. Has the army turned to the police, where they engaged the general public with lies?

ceeceeco: U're right. If u must join a confraternity u must have 2 use ur head. Back in 2002 wen i was in 200 level, i joined the supreme vikings confraternity @ Uniport because of a problem i had with one student who i neva knew was a cultist. The problem was because he wore my shoe 2 sch without my permission so i asked him why he wore my shoe without my permission, what he said was i should use my head, so i got angry @ his statement & we had a bust up which led 2 him going 2 call his gang 4 me. They had 2 beat me up & made away with some of my belongings. So my frnd who is a member of the supreme vikings confraternity heard of d incident so he persuaded me 2 join his group so we could fight back, so i gave it a tot & later agreed 2 join dem. Wen i came on board i was anchored the post of an I.C, then later became an A.D.C, then later became the Strike chief, then later became the Arkman, 4rm the arkman i became the executioner. School was very rugged & tough then, so if i hadn't use my head i would've had lots of problem. Thank God i'm a graduate(Emeritus/Xyz/Norseman). Ur intelligence is ur ruggedity...crime doesn't pay.
This is the dumbest Poo I have ever read on nairaland and to have people liking the comment beats my imagination.
Politics › Re: ‎Again, LASU Students Reject New Fees by Boss13: 9:21am On Jul 04, 2014
First and foremost, I do not understand why the fees were increased in the first place. Education is top priority for every nation to grow and access to education should be considered greatly. When you increase fees, you cut down access to education. I think the governor of Lagos state should be asked sincere questions about this. Is the fee increment a result to increase the welfare of lecturers or increase the education quality of the university? Or is the fee increment a devised medium to cut down the number of students trying to access education so that they can better their lives? We need to know because there are alternative ways to achieve these objectives than increasing school fees.

Well it is good to admit when you are wrong. This shows that you intend to correct things. Nice step NOI and good leadership skills. Most of our leaders never admit when they are wrong, they just keep duplicating the lies. I also think the Military should issue the nation an apology for the lies.

In as much as I want Nigeria to win due to patriotism, I know that will not be the case. Super eagles lack composure. Only a few players are fit. I don't think the super eagles can stand the fire power of France. FYI, even Evra scores these days.
I feel your pain on this view I must say.. Am from jamestown but I spent majority of my life in nigeria and abroad. But there has always been that connection .and I knew ghana has been promising..with very warm people..but over time I began to discover a lot of ugly secrets people were sugar coating..we r very tribalistic people, ungrateful and tend to forget things.. Today is all about the blame game..ndc blaming npp.. When k4 was the president.who did not know ghana? Our cedi became higher than naira and on par with the dollar.. He made the economy boom and rebraised the economy, then it was discovered that ghana was the fastest growing economy in the world.. Hotels began to spring up, investors, foreginers and tourist kept trouping in that the airport is no more enough to handle the infulx. I did not remember ghanaians complaining of light issues he and obj helped to get the debt pardon.. Everything seemed so good.. One blessing after the other.. We qualified for our first world cup. The next year.we discovered oil in commercial quantities. a lot of nigerians relocated to ghana for greener pastures.. Ghanaians started rushing home to help in the nations building .with the leadership we had we were pose d to be the star of africa. The beautiful urban projects like millenium city , gold coast city, airport city began to spring up to pepare ghana to become a world class hub..ghanaians seemed calm and relaxed. BUT!!!! A lot of people shifted their eyes from the good. And kept grudges in their heart . Just because npp looked ashanti.. And they posed to throw them out of hwich they did have their heart desire.. Attah mills came in and use the better half of his tenure to manage his sickness.. Then no one took note that the underdogs were stealing under him and destroying the economy. Majority of k4 projects we stopped including some of nkrumahs. Then mahama came in to put finishing touches..and now its glaring for all eyes to see.. From once a country with considerable stable electricty to this .a whole lot has gone wrong.. I hope ghanaians will learn and do the needful come 2016
African disease spreading like wildfire.

ogtavia: I wasn't there,so I can't tell how serious it was,but at any rate,I think Charlie Boy went a little overboard,if he wanted to embarass Okorocha (who according to people on dis thread is a synonym for lie),he shud have waited till like say the reception, where even d audience will be larger(people like Okorocha neva get tired of public misdemeanour),the occasion was abt his dad(tho dead) and nt abt him or Okorocha, yet I still understand dt we all av different temperaments, yet,I still think d occasion wasn't right, okay,he has snatched the mic from him and unwittingly sent him home or to a mistress's place, what next, the burial proceeding has been disrupted no matter how slight, however,it hasn't reduced d respect I av for charly Boy,no matter how small, however, those governor's nneed to be taught a bitter lesson in honesty, must they turn everything into politics?altho,I am very sure when Oputa Snr was dying,he might av settled it within himself dt his son might disrupt his burial or create a scene,it won't be a new thing, but Charly Boy chose a wrong occasion for the right thing,PDP and APC can go to hell with all its members,I dnt give two dead rats behind.
I can see that you have not buried anybody before and I mean a loved one. Na blow Okorocha go chop if na me and I mean my present self not in the body of charlie boy. WTF why come to my father's burial to come say some bullshit. I remember my mom's burial 3 weeks back and when people where giving tribute I was in tears because it brings back memories. Then in your grief state, someone is saying a lie - you would lose it - then add politicking so that you can be popular and turning your father's burial to a popularity contest. Gawd you would go mad. Thank God charlie boy did exactly what he did, I think it would send a caution message to other politician present who would have lied that even they are still paying the rent of the oputa family. These politicians sef.
