@ dutchstar you are funny. You are worried about clearing agent that may lose their jobs. Well the policy will not stop importation of fairly used cars but may discourage buyers from buying fairly used cars due to price hike as a result of increase import duties/tariff

How about jobs that will be created from the establishment of the assembly plants. The overall effect of this plant to the economy will be great. Plus the fact that people would be encouraged to drive brand new car. You cannot compare a brand new car to a tokunbo.

I will continue to salute the expertise of the trade minister Agagu. He is truly working and passionate about the success of Nigeria. Yet he speaks little about what he is doing.

What a gentleman indeed.

simigold: Hmmn... How time goes. I remember this same head of corporate affairs in Access who searched for job for a very long period after a very long wait after nysc. He came from a very poor background. i remember when he almost killed his junior brother cuz of eba (frustration tinzz) Now a big boy... he feels the pain no more and doesnt want to know how others feel. Too bad.....
Please be quiet. Everyone had a humble background. Segun is a good guy, never arrogant. He is not the group head of corporate communications but handles public relations for the bank. He is also feeling the heat too. In access bank you must feel the heat even the CEO

claremont: They were not told to literally pay the money from their own pockets, they were told to source for deposits of at least a million naira. I think it is a fair strategy by the bank to evaluate the marketing skills of its would-be employees. This is the same strategy that is used in the TV programme called 'The Apprentice' were candidates are basically sent into the streets to create a market for non-existent products and meet specific monetary targets.

The ladies who sell themselves rather than selling the bank products have only themselves to be blamed, they prefer the easy way out.
Please don't justify anything. I just explained why job applicants were told to get deposit. It has nothing to do with Aigboje or Wigwe. Bolaji Agbede initiated it in order for her to meet her target. This has never been the practice in Access bank recruitment and I think Aigboje is not aware of this.

Why is Segun fafore lying? Despite the fact that he is a good friend of mine, his public statement is nothing but a dirty lie.

Let me break it down. What I say is the truth. Access bank came up with a deposit strategy 3 years ago called OPERATION JUST CAUSE (OJC). The strategy initially was to grow it's retail customer base. Each staff was asked to go open 450 accounts. Those who met their target on or before December 31st 2011 were given N100,000. Those who did not meet their target were persuaded to go meet their target. It was also a pre-requisite for those who were due for promotion.

Next year 2012, after the acquisition of Intercontinental bank, Access bank was having liquidity problems are was borrowing at the inter-bank market (the same market, oceanic bank was penalize for). Hence, a deposit drive strategy was marked out. Each Group Head for all the department were given a deposit target and if they don't meet the target, they would be sacked (trust Aigboje his threat always come to past). These group heads decided to share the money down to their staff members on a grade level. Some other group heads with marketing skills decided to go get the money themselves.

Bolaji Agbede (Group head of Human resources) decided to exploit job seekers knowing that many are desperate to leave the unemployed market. She used the same approach in 2011 to meet her 450 OJC target. Now she decided to adopt the same approach by using applicants to meet her deposit target. It is inhumane to put people who are even your staff under undue pressure talk more of job applicants who are not yet your staff.

I know Segun fafore is a nairalander and I want him to deny this story. I understand he is doing his job by protecting the bank's public image but what I just explained is the truth. Bolaji Agbede is the huge reason there is poor staff welfare in Access bank. She needs to leave because she has built an empire in the bank. There are so many atrocities that this same woman has caused. From non/little remittance of tax liabilities of staff income tax to tax authorities to no medical/health insurance of staff. She is a sadist, little wonder she is not married.

I wonder why people choose to fight the OP and also why the OP was fighting back. All he did was to disseminate an information he got. Someone else also confirmed that ABU has gotten its allocation but individual lecturers are yet to be credited.

Now rather than fight the messenger, look @ the message. If lecturers are owed money, they should be paid (true). But the govt wants verification exercise so that they can know if the actual people fighting for this allowances are the true people. ASUU refused (I smell corruption and greed).

Well, the govt should pay these monies to ASUU so they can call off the strike. I will also fault the govt. Stop being reactive and start being proactive.

Verification exercise should be carried out. Government cannot afford to be throwing money to ghost workers. University accounts should not be credited, rather the individual lecturers' accounts should be credited.

The activities in universities should be audited and reviewed. We cannot afford union workers to hold the educational system in this country to ransom.

FFK has written well this time. The minister of aviation should take responsibility for the air crashes. The aviation industry in the country needs a total revamp. It still bothers me why Dana's license were quickly given to them. I feel Stella oduah doesn't know how to handle that ministry and a lot of rot is going on there

berem: There's nothing outrageous about the money. The education sector needs proper funding. If our leaders can send their kids to foreign schools that are well funded, why should they not equally fund our own universities to meet up to international standard? The money required is small compared to the excessive looting going on in the presidency. angry
Is allowances proper funding for universities? Is paying lecturers allowances automatically put Nigerian universities as par with the Harvards and Columbia's of the world?
Business › Re: I Lost N4M On First City Monument Bank Mobile Banking by Boss13: 8:33am On Oct 02, 2013
Jeezy: The only way this can be done is via insider involvement. A fraudulent bank (IT) staff can remove the limits on your account back-end and wire your money out of the bank. I am aware that banks are deploying anti-fraud tools such as Intellinx or ScoreBrigde that help detect suspicious transactions. I do not know if FCMB has one. The fact that you said the mobile money was activated on your account without your knowledge suggests that the above is what happened. You have a very good case if you report the matter to CBN.
Well you cannot rule out this option. I remember around 1998 - 2003 there were wide spread of credit/debit card fraud in the UK and even US. Many of these frauds were perpetrated by Nigerians before the security system was tightened to minimise the fraud.

True all banks have security against fraudulent acts. However, these security devices must be updated regularly to check mate fraudsters. I also have it on good account that there is a syndicate in Singapore that specializes in hacking into The database of Nigerian banks and either withdraw money or shop with bank's customers credit/debit cards. However, they target high network individual card (such as the platinum, black cards, Gold cards because there is always money in those cards). So it baffles me that some fraudster in Singapore is targeting Nigerian banks (why?). It means someone is giving them information. Maybe the security vendors our banks are using to deploy these security devices might probably to giving out loopholes/weakness for these hackers to break in.

Can anybody remember the GTBank incident where they have to shut down their internet site for some months? It also happened in Access bank (they were lucky, minimal incident, because they have deployed PCIDSS), it happened it Diamond bank too.

warrior01: Tis so disturbing that many people are doubting the Op; but it happened to me too ( last month) and so many others I met in the course of trying to retrieve my money. Yeah, the same FCMB. The most intriguing aspect of it, is that, I didn't compromise my account and was enjoying the evening with my family when I started receiving unsolicited alerts on my phone. Went to report at the bank and was not given any full assurance that I will get my money back. Immediately, I called their head office( dem hear am while it lasted) and equally started my own investigation on how the money left my acct. To God be the glory, was able to trace the transactions to Konga.com and equally gave them the heat that the transactions carried out via my account was fraudulent. To cut the long story short, after a 'heated' week from me to both sides, they paid about 95% of the money and said the balance will be paid in due course which I don't believe anyway.
Will advice that you desist or betterstill, don't keep any reasonable amount on any account that has anything to do with Atm and all these internet mobile rubbish. At least, that's the advice I was given by the bank Manager.
Your account details was compromised. Someone was shopping with your card. I don't know if the compromise was from your end or the bank. However, financial institution should take extra precaution to protect the database of their customers or stand the chance to face reputational risk.
Business › Re: I Lost N4M On First City Monument Bank Mobile Banking by Boss13:
I doubt the veracity of this story. First, the OP has responded to this thread thrice and yet to furnish us with the year this incident occurred. Today is 2nd October 2013. Hence his date is not correct.

Secondly, the OP claimed that he refused the product. Even if the bank profiles you for mobile banking product, you still need to subscribe for it so that a PIN can be sent to you. Also, the mobile banking application will be installed on your smart phone. So I think the OP may be confusing mobile banking to Internet banking (which ever the case, you must subscribe. You cannot use the product automatically).

Thirdly, there is cash withdrawal limit for both Mobile and Internet banking. This is to check mate fraudulent withdrawals in the case it happens.

My Conclusion - I still find this story hard to believe because of the period of occurrence and the terminology (Mobile banking) used by the OP. If however, there was a debit entry in the OP's account, I doubt if it was the mobile banking which he rejected that caused the entry. It may be a cheque initially issued to a 3rd party or some standing or debit instructions. However, I will advise the OP to print his statement in order to understand the debit transaction. The OP's first suspect (if this story is true) is his account officer. The OP should also not express any fear, he will get his money back.

I have also noticed how NL'ders are quick to say negative things about financial institutions and also term it a Nigerian factor. These things happen everywhere in the world and a good reason you must reconcile your bank statement when your account balance don't match. Remember it is your money and you must be responsible for it.

This world bank people, where did they get their data from? Is it the people under umbrella selling recharge cards that they are calling middle class.

28% of 160 million is 44.8 million people (approximately 45 million people). Honestly I refuse to believe this. We do not even have accurate data of all residents in this country.

The other time, Sanusi claimed to have brought down inflation to 9%. I went to the market and the price of rice and garri is still climbing. Ngozi smiled @ the camera and told us that our GDP is improving and I cannot see it.

If they tell me that this statistics are to wash foreign investors I will understand. What they are saying is synonymous to telling a man in hell fire that the temperature in hell fire is -7 degree Celsius.

Jide as a stakeholder in Access bank, I must salute your courage. I also hope you have another job because the Access bank I know is reputable in sacking recalcitrant staff. However, I wish to inform you that you are not a staff of Access bank but notwithstanding you should not be treated otherwise. The same problems you face in the bank are shared amongst all staff.

Access bank is known to be mindless of staff welfare. Staff are demoralized and angry (professional and support staff). Anybody can do a survey and you will get negative feedbacks. In Access bank job security is a thing of dreams, they live in fear including General Managers. I understand the ambitious nature of Aigboje but Bolaji Agbede (Group Head, H.R) needs to initiate policies for staff welfare and respect for individuals in the workplace.

Appraisal in Access bank is a witch-hunting tool for supervisors to punish subordinates, very subjective and abstract. Also, there should be career path for support staff. You don't keep a person for 7 years on the same salary and the rate of inflation is not the same. Yet you expect the person to keep a smiling face to customers.

When I saw Access bank as one of the best workplace in Nigeria after a survey, I smiled because that survey was erroneously carried out. All sort of harassment happens in Access bank, just think of it.

Access bank should note that one of the successes of service industry is their People (staff) and if the people are not happy, you cannot achieve your objectives.

Mods, please this is front page news.

Fashola should stop this cheap propaganda and get to work. The number of uncompleted projects, planned and unveiling projects are just too much and tiring. It seems to me that fashola wants to be in the news at all cost. He is not even commissioning the power plants but revealing plans to the media. Later on, after the cheap praise he would complain that there is no fund to commence the IPP plants.
