He is probably some what frustrated with things. He likely could not take it at his old job, and usually the best thing to do is move on. But, he should have at least tried to secure something else before moving on. But, he figured you can carry the load, for now. I'd say give him some time and may be encourage him. However, if he is being mean to you and does not want to appreciate what you are doing, I'd say kick is a$$ out and move on. Life is too short!

You've got soem very good info already. With your husband, being or about to be a MD, it should not be a problem living anywhere there. I heard vancouver is very nice. Also, it's very close close to seatttle. A 2 hr. drive or less should get to into Seattle, WA.
Tech Jobs › Re: Help: Need To Write An Inventory Control Application by Bossman(m): 6:59pm On Feb 07, 2008
I am sure there are off-the-shelve applications out there that will probably suite your needs, may be with little modification.

You need to provide more details, such as what type of data are you trying to model before we can provide much information. Also, do you have any requirements?
Computers › Re: Is Pascal Still Useful? by Bossman(m): 11:54pm On Feb 06, 2008
If you have an an option between Java and Pascal, I would definitely go with Java. Pascal is still ok to teach software development. Obviously, it's not an Object Oriented Programming language like Java.
Family › Re: Should I Put The Name Of My Xboyfriend On My Son's Birth Certificate Help Me Plz by Bossman(m): 7:02pm On Feb 05, 2008
Not only should you put your child's biological father's name on his BC, you should also try to make him know his father. The guy has not even seen his own son. I just can't believe some guys these days! I know it may not be easy raising your child on your own, and you have done that so far. You should definitely make sure the other woman knows you have a child for him. Don't know about over there, but on this end, his a$$ will be paying child support.  Best of luck to you.
Romance › Re: Help Me! My Fiance Get Raped And Result To Pregnancy by Bossman(m): 9:02pm On Jan 31, 2008
There is a lot of insanity in these forums. Some of the postings I see here just make one wonder if they are true.

Did she tell you as soon as it happened or after she found out it resulted in pregnancy?

If is so happened, then what about the idiot that did it to her? How could he have forced himself on her? So, there was nobody else there, and she could not scream, bite him or something. Where did it happend. Why did she allow herself to be alone with the guy? Hope you get the jist. If it happened, then you as a man, should take action, take your woman and go and confront the "bone head". Make sure you verify things and do not just take it as-is.
Tech Jobs › Re: E-banking Solution by Bossman(m): 6:52pm On Jan 31, 2008
Any of the major programming languages out there will do. For example Java, .net scale well when it comes to web development. Is any development currently being done, and if so, what's the programming language and platform. You have to be able to define what you need, and communicate it to your analysts and get their input.

Travel › Re: Passengers Exchange Blows In Moving Airplane by Bossman(m): 8:38pm On Jan 23, 2008
The bottom line is, as of now (that is about to change here though), that's the rules, and it should be obeyed. I just can't believe some of us sometimes. While the usage of mobiles will not directly cause a crash, they can interfere with the functions electronic instruments. And, it can be severe enough to cause problems for the pilot. Most phones(music phones, PDAs, etc.) have "airplane mode" and the phone can be switched to that mode. Most airlines on this end will announce to switch the phones of or to switch to airplane mode. As we speak, some airlines are already experimenting with allowing passengers to use their mobiles. Because it there is evidence that suggests there is not much interference from the mobile signals.
Romance › Re: Advantages Of Polygamy? by Bossman(m): 4:17pm On Jan 23, 2008
Absolutely NO advantages. The title should probably read "Disadvantages of Polygamy". I still do not understand why a man in their right man would want to marry more than 1 wife.
Education › Re: Is there any American institution not requiring TOEFL by Bossman(m): 8:26pm On Jan 22, 2008
Use the google search engine to search for TOEFL. AFAIK, all schools require foreign applicants to take the exam. Any idiot that undetrstands simple english should not have problems taking it. Anyone that can not make the minumum required on this exam definitely does not deserve to apply to study in the US.
Phones › Re: Things U Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do by Bossman(m): 7:45pm On Jan 18, 2008
These things have been going around for a while #2 & #3 is complete nonsense! Anyone with a little sens will know that a damn phone will not open a car. Search the net, you will find out that this is are completely false statements. As for #4, it will work ONLY if your provider supports IMEI blocking. besides, it will work on any network that not part of the same database your provider uses. For example, if a phone is blocked in the UK (They are one of the few countries that support IMEI blocking) , the phone can still be taken to Nigeria, US, or any other country and still work.
Webmasters › Re: My Story So Far (part !) by Bossman(m): 4:50pm On Jan 18, 2008
Afam is absolutely correct! You can build basic static websites for next to nothing. You can also develop web applications for millions of naira. Not everyone that develops a website is an application developer. That is a very important distinction. If a company just wants a web presence then give them that and charge for it. Now, if they want to develop and interactive web application that is database driven then they will have to pay for it. This will involve a whole lot more analysis and design.

Bottom line: We are talking apples and oranges. A simple webpage can probably be done for next to nothing. This can also be done without any kind of programming knowledge. A web application will involve programming and that will come at a cost.
Programming › Re: Introduction To Programming: It's Hard HELP by Bossman(m): 10:40pm On Jan 17, 2008
Exactly what do you need help with? What programming language are you using? Search the web for more info. Programming takes a lot of patience and practice. Budget at least double the time you would spend on another subject for programming. I will say it again, if you like to solve puzzles you will like programming, if not, it will be difficult.
Programming › Re: Java Prog That Converts Binary To Decimal by Bossman(m): 10:36pm On Jan 17, 2008
What have you done so far? I suggest that you at least take a stab at it, then when you get stuck, post here for some assistance or check the forums.

This sounds like a homework assignment. We will not be doing you any favour by doing it for you. Believe me, the "real world" is brutal! You have to be able to solve problems on your own for you to be a developer. If you can't, they will get rid of you quickly. That's if you get past the interview process. I occasionally participated in Java technical interviews at previous clients. Your problem solving skills are very critical your survival as a developer. Enough said!

Or at least post the relevant portiosn of the code. Yes, we all know that GETappends any paramaters to the end of the URL, and POST does not. If POST is not working for you, you are obviously NOT doing something write.

What have you done so far? Are you getting an error or so, if so what error?

Make sure the mySQL driver is in your applications classloader path. That is yourapp/WEB-INF/lib.

Also, make sure an instance of mySQL is running before accessing your web app. You can test that outside of your webapp with something like this method called "getConnection". If all is good, call this method from your servlet or whatever your webapp is.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Connection connection = null;
try {
Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"wink.newInstance();
connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/yourDatabasename"wink;
} catch(ClassNotFoundException cnfe) {
throw new SQLException("Unable to load the driver: " + cnfe.getMessage());
}
return connection;
  }

  public static void main (String args[]) throws Exception{
  yourClass yc = new yourClass();
  System.out.println(yc.getConnection());
  }

Programming › Re: Do You Have A Question On Sql? by Bossman(m): 11:33pm On Jan 01, 2008
SQL is just that, Structured Query Language. You can present the data using forms, reports, etc. As Microsoft has made capable with Access. Behind those forms, reports, is SQL. So, if you need to do something similar, you have to use an application that will serve as the front end/presentation layer to the SQL in the back. Some database vendors ship the appropriate tools with their products, as is the case with Microsoft Access etc. Hope you get the point.

shinzo abe:
Oga,

I am having this problem: I know that Microsoft Access can prresent data in Forms and Reports [it makes it more graphical and beautiful].

I want to know if SQL can do that as well, because I have something to do with SQL and I have to display the data in forms.

Please answer as fast as you can!

Ask him to cook his own damn food! What's the big deal? How are you supposed to know when he leave the pot empty. I cook or the wife cooks. It depends on who feels like it or who has the time. It's a dynamic world out there. People are busy and will not always have time to cook some damn stew or whatever.

Programming › Re: Do You Have A Question On Sql? by Bossman(m): 4:45pm On Dec 27, 2007
Well, for the join to work efficiently it's important that the fields you are joining on match in all tables that are used in the join. If they do not match, as is the case here, you will not be able to use that column as the join field. Usually you want to do a join on a key/unique field. Trying to do a join on inconsistent street names is not going to work.
Family › Re: Will You Marry A Guy That Already Has A Child? by Bossman(m): 9:19pm On Dec 24, 2007
There could be one of many reasons why the guy has a child and is not with the child's mother. These should at least be considered. However, I do understand that some women just will not do it, regardless of the circumstances.
Programming › Re: Do You Have A Question On Sql? by Bossman(m): 10:25pm On Dec 20, 2007
I agree. char would be more appropriate for gender.

The char is a fixed-length character data type, the varchar is a
variable-length character data type.

Because char is a fixed-length data type, the storage size of the char
value is equal to the maximum size for this column. Because varchar is
a variable-length data type, the storage size of the varchar value is
the actual length of the data entered, not the maximum size for this
column.

For example a char varChar will always take up 4 spaces to store the name Mike. While a char(20) will always take up 20 spaces to store the same thing,

Gridlock:
@Syma

I just wanted to note, since gender is either Male or female, why not use M/F i.e. char(1). Or, even why not use a bit field i.e. int(1) ? Just a thot ,

@my2cents
I'm not quite sure i know if there is a difference between char and varchar

You definitely do not want to use 3G on a prepaid. It will wipe out your credit quickly. That's unless you have a lot of money. Everyone that I know that uses any kind of data here has an unlimited data plan. Most are quite affordable. Mine is just $20 month.

BTW, someone asked about getting the settings. There should not be a need to get any settings. You just need a phone that's 3G capable. You may need to get a 3G sim though. The rates should stay the same. It's just that it downloads a whole lot faster (at broadband speeds) so it's very easy to rack up a lot of usage.

What is the point of 3G anyway, when basic service is still lacking. The operators have to crawl before the can walk. They vast majority of Nigerians just want to be able to make and complete calls effortlessly.
