Citizens have their roles to play in promoting local airlines, by patronizing them. Government has its role to play in protecting local airlines against unfair practices of foreign airlines. The airline itself has to make flying very attractive for all passengers.

The likes of Egypt air and Ethiopian air have been fleecing Nigerians. The difference between the current price and the former price is disgraceful to them, in the least. Thankfully it’s not summer yet, when Nigerians used to be at their mercy.

That Akwa Ibom State Government has spent over N112 billion on road infrastructure since May 2023 is rather mind-buggling, worrisome,grave fallacy and one of the 21st century tales by moonlight...

A government that isn't up to a year old since swearing in on May 29,2023 is claiming to have sunk in such a whooping sum of state funds into a non-existence/audio road projects unimaginable is painting a clearer picture of the Umo Eno led administration not doing anything different from the previous administration which had groomed,cultivated and implemented the culture of spendthridting the state Treasury in absolute secrecy which has given rise to the fathom looting spree, fingering and rakeless wasting of the people's commonwealth/patrimony in the hands of a few greedy, marabouting, selfish, self pocket filled and self-centered cabal who are only interested in enriching their immediate family, relations, selected friends, cronies, business associates and government hallelujah praises singers to the detriment of the common masses (Akwaibomites)

In a recent disclosure by the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof Eno Ibanga when he presented a breakdown at the State Executive Council meeting in Uyo.

Eno Ibanga claimed 39 new road projects have been undertaken with N78.77 billion released to fund them, while old projects have been funded to the tone of over N30 Billion, with an additional N12 Billion recently released by the Governor.

If we have to go by the figures released by the Commissioner for Works that a whooping N112 billion has been disbursed by the Governor for road infrastructure since May 2023, with 39 new road projects receiving N78.77 billion & N30 Billion for old projects, with additional release of N12 Billion,how come is the state not witnessing much of the infrastructural projects spanning the state so far❓

The Umo Eno led administration has so far performed abysmally low if we have to go by the current indices of hunger, massive unemployment, hyperinflation rate in the cost of living and slow pace of economic activities in the state since assumption of office...

If the governor and his Co- deceptive travellers are busy mouthing about release of funds for projects, Akwaibomites will definitely want to see how much work is going on at those sites as claimed...

This administration is yet to hit the ground since assumption of office,all we see is random organization of crusades alongside dabbling political fathers of faith and uncountable flag off of projects without especially road projects as claimed without nothing going on at most of the project sites...

If government claims releasing such whooping sum of monies for roads construction alone within the spate of 9-10 months since May 29, we should at least see massive construction sites sprawling the nooks and crannies of the state not when nothing is going on and they're telling us folk tales and chorusing folklores of empty achievements yet billions of state allocation/funds, security votes, internally generated revenue and other royalties are accruing into the state treasury...

A typical example is the five hundred million naira (500,000,000.00) allocation for the construction of additional structures at the worship centre which hasn't been put to adequate use since the exit of his predecessor...

The State Bulk Purchase Agency recently inaugurated by Gov. Eno to ensure equitable involvement of the vulnerable persons has defaulted with so much of state funds sunk into the hurriedly passed bill by the rubber stamped state assembly...

The agency is operated on party lines and the beneficiaries are merely people from one party,yes of course the People's Democratic Party (PDP)The outcry by supposed beneficiaries currently has reached a crescendo and the head of the agency being the governor's kinsman is also a rooted PDP apologist...

Airlines business is not a profitable business . No serious businessman is into aviation business. As said by someone " no top 100 billionaire in the world is into aviation business" it's all fancy and glamour with no profitability or liquidity.

Since it is a very low margin business... volumes and routes are key . That's why having a national carrier is most.

We also need competition in local flights. It is currently too pricey and these guys are cheating customers. How can a flight of less than one hour to the east be #500k during festive season. That is devilish.

Not profitable and Richard Branson, one of the richest on earth, continues with Virgin Atlantic? Not profitable and yet airlines were making three things from Nigeria for services to other countries, until Air peace entered the route? Not profitable and the airlines charge such huge amounts to SE airports, reaping citizens using that route? Not profitable, yet airlines like Lufthansa, Air France, Royal Maroc and BA have been in business for uncountable years?

Airlines fail when there is poor management. Airlines fail when they are not able to meet debt repayments, e. g. Laker air in 1981, which failed for their inability to meet the debt obligations. Airlines fail when there is unfair competition from other airlines, as experienced with Bellview and Medview on the same London route. Airlines fail when there is massive corruption and large scale embezzlement, like Nigerian airways. Airlines also fail due to unfair government policies.

As stated earlier, our government can make it easier for citizens by making Air peace pay lesser for aviation fuel. Again, make repatriation of funds difficult for foreign airlines, thereby causing them to lose interest.

Government also must intervene on the local routes, where airlines tell us that passenger pressure is the major cause of high fares to the SE. Airlines, including Air peace are complicit in it.

Northern politicians are very happy. The citizens are very grateful. A few in the positions of power all the time loot public treasury. The get all forms of funds and yet with nothing as evidence in terms of infrastructure. A lot of them cannot visit their communities. Their farms and villages have been ravaged with hunger and banditry. Obi got thinking and starting fixing portable water for them. The people are happy for it.

Some who have sold their souls to poverty and misery make mockery of Obi’s effort. Why has government and the northern political leaders failed to do so? Obi said it all. Replicate what he has done in your communities. If 10,000 citizens can donate 10 each, there should be 100,000 to that number of communities.

Tonto Dikeh can jolly well build in her community or location. This is not the one off giving of rice and meat to northern beggars at Iyana Iba bus stop, which she’s done only once. This is permanent and would last the citizens for too many years to come. It is not about how beautiful, but how effective.

Obasanjo needed Atiku to win the presidency in 1999, if you do not know. After the primaries, Atiku who controlled the then Shehu Yaradua’s political group had won the governorship of Adamawa state. Of the five names put forward for the Vice President’s position, he was singled out for his strength and ability to secure the election for PDP/OBJ. Did he not show OBJ his political strength before the primaries of 2003?

Politics is about aspiration. It was not wrong of him to aspire to the position. He played his part to secure Obaseki, when the chips were down for Obaseki. It does not matter that he lost now. Oshiomole was not politically relevant for some time. Fayose appeared irrelevant after 2006 until he returned in 2012. BAT appeared irrelevant for a while. There they are today with their positions. Obaseki himself cut off Oshiomole who was his benefactor.

In all, what we need are leaders who can move the nation forward. What is the business of one man pocketing 500m monthly in the name of security votes please? How did that help the communities being governed? We should learn to start holding these greedy leaders accountable for the misdeeds. Look at Edo state and please compare Obaseki’s achievements with Oshiomole’s achievements? Please tell us who served better.

There was no big deal about this.

It was the Nigerian government that put the policy in place to allow people with expired passports travel home especially as the process to get a new passport takes several months.

Even before that there was an ETC, emergency travel certificate that could be gotten from the embassy to travel if a passport was lost. The United States (and I'm sure every other country) has a temporary emergency passport for the same purpose especially if you are in trouble in a foreign country.

The problem is that Nigerians too talk. Once they carry phone they will start broadcasting their entire life..

That’s up to the airline. The airline may be paying a price for that. If you either do not have a passport or it is expired, no airline will carry you, except in this case, probably humanitarian, as Air peace did.

She gambled greatly. All she needed to do in the circumstance submit to a letter of invitation with her British passport, to get Nigerian visas.

Again, when she’s traveling back, if she has a valid British passport, the airlines will carry her. However she can quickly get her Nigerian passport now.

ETCs are issued when travelers have problems with their existing passports, or cannot easily access them before their trip. The country of origin upon confirmation, issues the ETC, which usually last for at least one month from the date of issuance.

Aside from the national holidays, I medians also observe by state. There are too many public holidays in India.
