I wonder while we don't look up to Tourism in Nigeria.
Egypt generated $15 billion from 14.9 million international tourists in 2023.

I think we should do better.
Look at these beautiful Places on Nigeria

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=785C7UU_rb4?si=-wksSZreED2r2F70

Will well channelled strategy, we'd generate alot from Tourism
We should stop deceiving ourselves. Some things sound good on paper but there is a reason why they don’t work in reality.

Anywhere with a tourist industry has certain qualities.

1: stable power
2: good transportation primarily good roads, reliable air transport.
3: security
4: consumer focused hospitality sector. Quality hotels and quality staff.

If you dont have these, all you have is potential and paper tourism. Nigeria doesn’t have these. The infrastructure for tourism does not exist. Tourism cannot save Nigeria. It is Nigeria that can can save tourism. Tourism will only become a big industry as a by product of Nigeria getting its act together in other aspects.

You want to clearness $15b a year from tourism like Egypt? Do you know how much we need to invest in roads, hotels, airports, airplanes mindset change to acheive this? Probably $100b a year for 10 years! Do we have a plan for that kind of investment? You ask tourist to go visit the cradle of yoruba land in Ife for instance? Do you have trains or good roads to take them there? Do you have even a 4 star hotel there to accommodate them?

Mind you that while we are in the doldrums, many of our so called tourism potentials are eroding. Our beaches are being destroyed, our wildlife are being decimated. Is it the forests under deforestation as trees are felled for lumber or the rare animals we kill everyday as bush meet we are asking tourists to come and see? Where are your lions, your elephants, etc?

Even you the Nigerian that is used to the discomforts of Nigeria do not explore your country, why would a foreigner who is not used to 12 hr delayed flights, bad roads, banditry,
rude staff, bad hotels?

Finally, is it the same country we constantly bash to foreigners when things do not go our way that we want to attract foreigners to…both FDI and tourism? I have never heard an Egyptian, American, Brit, Emirati or citizens from any other top tourist destination demarket their country to foreigners because they lost elections….or for any other reason.

Obi was the best performing gov during his time but you're not in the right frame of mind to listen.

Run along, Tinubu is a monumental failure.
He damaged his administration from his very first speech and he'd never be able to fix it back.
shame on you! i am not the only one reading, educate the others if you have anything. you need their votes. it doesnt speak well that you are projecting him as a messiah and under interrogation you cant list anything...people are reading o!!!

this is not about you and I people are reading!! people whose votes you need. when i post, and I know I am interacting with an imb3cile, i still post my facts and opinions despite the fact that the person I am engaging is brain dead and would never in real life be in a position to engage me in conversation...why? because others are reading. So this is not about me, if you have legacies to list, please list them!! you cant because in 8 years at the saddle, there are none. let me remind you again that the Awo that the west talk about was only in government for 7 years.

It says a lot about the man you support and his followers. The man has no legacies, his supprters cannot even point to his legacies. when we say Obidients are brain dead or you must be shallow to be an obidient, i hope the world can now see why.

please tell us, what did buying petrol himself at the petrol station, putting government money in a bank he owns, wearing 1 watch (lie) having 2 shoes (another lie), having only 1 house (yet another lie) translate to for the people of Anambra?

I challenge you to list them and if you can I will swallow humble pie.

Youb cannot because you obidients know he has none. Obidients are eithe 1) ibos with a tribal agenda or 2) brain dead naive youth!

Obi is not the one in Aso Rock even though his mandate was stolen.

When Obj came, things started improving immediately. The improvements continued until Jonathan, infact the minister of finace said that last time the economy grew was in 2014.

You said the structural changes(even though they're not structural) Tinubu is making will improve things eventually. You're speaking as though it wasnt his party that was in power for 8yrs and he supported the previous govt 100% and plans to continue where they stopped.

So in your wisdom, you believe petrol will come down below N195 and exchange rate below N500 because to improve versus your predecessor means these prices should fall below. You know he has no capacity to do this, dont you?
he was the one in AWKA house, tell us what he did in 8 years there. so that we can realise we made a mistake and the error of our ways and vote for him in 2027. Right now if he is the messiah you should be very happy to provide evidence. i hope you know it is people like me that can make him president, so stop avoiding the issue and list his accomplishments. without our vote he cannot be president. if he is that good I am sure you want him to be president.

oya start listing his legacies so we can repent! abi legacy no dey?

Even Buhari bad as he was for the economy, i can list lagos Ibadan rail lagos ibadan express, 2nd Niger bridge...things my grand children will see....list your own.

The mark of a leader is what endures after him. Awolowo left government in 1959, we are still talking about him in the SW because you go to Ilupeju..awo did it, IIkeja Awo, Cocoa house, awo, Liberty stadium Awo, free education, Awo, Obafemi Awolowo Univrsirty..na Awo too, the list goes on...the man left power in 1959 and died in 1986, till today we are talking about legacy...he was only in power for 7 years Obi was in power for 8. Obi is the messiah but to list legacy dey hard you? Please tell us because the only legacy we know is diverting money for soldiers into his bank and diverting statefunds into family business!

List your own now and put me to shame? Tinubu has just started. Obi completed 8 years.

Is it that difficult for you to list his accomplishments?

i have already told you that government revenues have increased as a result of tough structural measures taken which previous governments had been afraid to take. This means there is more money for social programs but social programs do not manifest in 7 months. Already FAAC allocations to states have doubled. In the meantime I have said I am happy to concede things are tough, those of us with brains did not expect things to be good overnight.

You are now 2, between the 2 of you i am sure you can list for us Peter Obi's legacies after 8 years!

Lets stay on Tinubu's performance. You said you're happy with his performance, i asked what indices of development he has improved vs his predecessors and you listed unrelated things. I have shown you examples.

I await the indices that Tinubu has improved since May 29th.
i am not deflecting i said tell me what Obi did. I have already told you that pain must come first after structural change. the structural changes i have already told you. These thing will not manifest in 8 months. Nobody is denying that things are hard now. It is a sacrifice to a better future. it is only a shallow mind (typical Obidient ) that will think things will turn around after 7 months. I am ready to concede that indices are bad but that is part of the process, it is essential for the journey.

Corruption perception index

Maternal mortality

Exchange rate

Inflation rate

Education

Availability of constant power and pipe borne water etc

So which one has Tinubu improved versus Buhari and Jonathan?

This country has been going downhill since I was a child, you dont fix the rot overnight. it is brain dead people the kind who become obidient who think you can fix a problem like Nigeria overnight. that you ask that question shows your level of intelligence and why you are an Obidient.

First of all I never voted for Buhari. I have said this many times if you check my post history. I had enough sense to know that a man's antecedents amatter and i was old enough to be alive when Buhari was head of state. i said it at the time that the Anti corruption Buhari was a military man, he cant fight corruption as a civilian who was brought to power by corrupt politicians. I also said I was old enough to remmeber hiow he destroyed the conomy then. That said, i will still maintain that while he did not dissapoint and he messed up the economy and did not fight corruption, he did more for infrastructure than any president or head of state since shagari. facts dont lie.

What I cannot stand about this man apart from his hypocrisy is that he will bring down anything and anyone to fulfil his ambition..an ambition that by the grace of God will never materialize. No autocorrect in the whole world will change "tomorrow" to "tommorow". Such is an auto-incorrect.

The manner you guys approached the guy who made the error was very bad. You shouldn't assume that everybody knows everything or every basic rule of another man's language, so you have to gently correct them and watch them do the right things. Nobody knows it all.
Let me make it clear to you. I am a firm believer in teaching Nigerians in our indigenous languages with English as a second language. However, English is our official language, it is our language of instruction and our language of communication.

You cannot claim to be properly educated if you lack basic grounding In the language of communication, the language of academic instruction. These are things we should have learnt in primary school!

Chinese, French, Spanish, Germans etc are not taught in English. If they make grammatical errors it is understandable. You are a Nigerian, you are taught in English, you complain when they ask you to take proficiency tests but your grammar stinks!!!! What were you doing in school if you have not grasped basic Grammar concepts that a primary school pupil should have grasped?

The reason why it peeves us is because we encounter these poorly educated people very day and it is difficult to communicate with them. Apart from the issue of grammar there is the issue of communication. Many Nigerians speak English but lack not only good grammar but good comprehension. Many do not understand the meaning of words.

The uneducated English man with poor grammar may not have the grammar to get him to university but at least knows he that when you say “couple”, you mean 2. The Nigerian doesn’t.

The people he needs are irritated by this kind of nonsense and his lack of statesmanship!

Obi is a polarising figure, you either love him passionately or you hate him with equal gusto. Those who love him were unable to get him to the promised land. Those who hate him, do so precisely for the kind of thing he is doing with this tweet..insincerity and manipulation You cannot keep doing the same thing that didnt work for you and expect it will produce a different result in 2027. It's like everyone needs these English proficiency tests afterall. grin
That was a spelling typo. There is a difference between a typo and a basic lack of understanding of English grammar.

You can make a typing error punctuation error syntax error etc, especially in an informal context. But you don’t don’t say “people uses” or start a sentence with “am” if you are proficient in basic English grammar.

If you look at the person I quoted he misused an apostrophe. I didn’t highlight that because it can happen especially when typing on a phone or autocorrect. You know someone who lacks basic foundational grounding in English and someone who made a typo.

No one who is properly educated starts a sentence with “am” or says “people uses”. These are not typos, this is how they speak.

I agree.

When you talk too much, you lose your value.

Obi should only make comments only when it is very very necessary.
The truth is there is no substance to the man. He is lucky to have been in the right place at the right time to benefit from frustrated youth and Ibos.

If he actually had a strategic mind he would have stayed in PDP, fought for the VP slot and he would be VP today. Everything about Obi, from the way he managed Anambra to the Messianic complex he developed because he happened to be in the right place at the right time, to his faux pas on religion to his now constant desire to remain relevant shows he he is not a strategic thinker and not right man to be president. Fortunately for him most of his followers are shallow. Unfortunately for him his followers cannot make him president and the people who can make him president can see through his BS and are not fooled by his patronizing attempts to appear in touch.

Whether he likes it or not it is not his supporters that will make him president, it is voters like me who did not vote for him. The more he tries to hug the limelight the more we are thankful. At least be statesman like and stop behaving like a media influencer.
Politics › Re: I'm Not A Blogger, I'm An Entertainer - Tunde Ednut Tells Peter Obi by casualobserver: 1:44pm On Jan 22, 2024
On his desperation to be relevant, he doesn’t even know who he is sending congratulations to. It just shows the insincerity of the man.

I have said it many times, if Obi continues with his desire to constantly be in the news, he will have lost his aura by 2027 as people would have seen through him by them.

Sometimes it is best to remain quiet and be an enigma than constantly open your mouth and look like a charlatan. This is captured in the saying it is better to keep quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and confirm it.

If Atiku were in the press the way Obi is he wouldn’t be the enigma he is among his followers.
